We have to be careful in the so called take over, Malaga taken over by Arab owners " years ago, they are skint and having to sell all their players, caution required. Do we risk a pompey and Jump at first buyer or hold out for the right people {Ed025's Note - the latter in my view..

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I've been saying the same thing over and over. Most of these take overs are by wannabe's with no money they get short term finance to buy the club, then borrow money from other sources to pay it back with serious interest.
Butch and Sundance from across the park did it, the Glazers did it and at the end of the day it is always the club that suffers.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree to the above poster above but tell me one thing, how did Liverpool suffer? Butch and Sundance were the ones who got ripped off not the R/S.
Andy the Chef.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure Butch and Sundance lost out, but so did the RS as a club.

They went from being regulars in the Champions League even winners of the competition under Moores to being a top 10 team, an untested manager in charge because he was the only one who would take the job, a team that doesn't really look like it has the ability to get back into the top four, plans for a new ground shelved and a £50m loss in the first year of the new owners.

Add to that the humiliations of being dragged through the courts by the banks to sell the club and the fact that today a man who at best can be described as an average manager would rather remain in charge at Wigan than take over the RS, I wouldn't say the club haven't come out of this unscathed.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason Martinez stayed at Wigan is because Rodgers was always first choice. Lets be honest here would he have stayed at Wigan if Liverpool offered him a contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that was the case why was Martinez approached and interviewed before the first approach to Rodgers? Of course they say he was our first choice, they can hardly say he is what we ended up with!

End of the day you approach your first choice first, then look for others if you can not reach a deal with the first choice, just as we did when we appointed DM. What kind of person interviews a candidate they don't want before finding out if the one they do want is interested?

As for the question would he have stayed with Wigan if a contract was offered, only Martinez can really answer that, but there could be many reasons, unrealistic expectations by the owners, too much interference from them, lack of transfer funds etc. etc.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope, Martinez was first preference, so much so, they actually met in the US. Martinez wanted full control of the football operations at Liverpool, they didn't want to give him that, so he rejected the move. And then the RS moved to Rodgers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come to think of it, you're probably right.
sorry boys.

Ed do you know if hibbos testimonial will be on tv? It's not part of the evertontv deal so I'm hoping it's on telly otherwise I'll hunt the net for a dodgy stop start stream! {Ed025's Note - i would be surprised if it is mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would it be on tv ?

Agree0 Disagree0

One of evertons pre season matches was on tv last season it was against a Spanish side can't remember which one! So why be surprised wen I ask the question!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody outside of Everton cares about Tony Hibbert. Cant see any tv station caring either.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's correct. The friendly against Villarreal was shown on ITV 4.

I ran past a pub in woolton today and they are showing it on tv, so it must be................

not a transfer rumour ed sorry just something thats been bugging me.is it any wonder we seem to get off to a slow start nearly every season when pre season consists of playing friendlies or games against lower league opposition when most teams are involved in tournaments involving top teams in europe the likes of the milan teams ,ajax and the like.surely playing teams of this ilk with a better class of player could the team better prepared for the start of a season. {Ed025's Note - its a very good point mate..

Believable4 Unbelievable0

It pains me to suggest this, but perhaps we're not perceived as an attractive proposition by the organisers of these other tournaments.

Hi ed! Do you think we will sign anyone else and if so which position do you think we will fill? {Ed025's Note - i expect at least one more, maybe a forward on loan..

Believable3 Unbelievable2

06 Aug 2012 18:59:26
Ed, can you see a takeover happening ? The rumours are starting to have some truth in it.

ToffeeMike {Ed025's Note - no mike...well not yet anyway, people think, that if they post it enough, it will be believed...well not me mate..

We have 2 options, i think is Lukaku or Sturridge on loan. We can affort either of them and we can proffit after the lack of interest they received in this last 2 months. I hope, with this eventual investments, to make an aproach. Cheers ! - Cosmin -

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wouldnt want sturrage he is not good enough proper headless chicken {Ed025's Note - i think he,s a fine player..

Agree0 Disagree0

Would like to see Lukaku at Everton, can't see him getting at look in at Chelsea now with all the fire power they're bringing in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought he was awfull for team gb gave the ball away to much for me jcefc {Ed025's Note - its hard to judge a guy, playing with strangers for a few games, and under a manager, who can only be described as an idiot in a tracksuit....he played very well for chelsea last season..

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that Pearce is a clown, but Sturridge didn't play well for Chelsea last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you're out of order, Ed025, calling Pearce an person. I don't rate him as a manager or coach either, but I wouldn't sink to cheap insults - and I'm surprised, based on your intelligent comments in the past, that you did on this occasion.
Cowpat Sid {Ed025's Note - i dont respect the guy sid...he said a lot of nasty things about the hillsborough disaster, which makes him a total person so dont expect any apologies from me mate!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we're all missing the point. The point of loaning out young players is so that they game time. Everyone knows we play one up front with Jela being the man. If they are not gonna play what will they learn from Anichebe?

I'm hoping to see us at near enough full strength for 60/70+ minutes both Wednesday and Saturday. A lot of our main boys haven't got enough game time in them for one reason or another.. The games come thick and fast after united so let the young lads and reserves catch up once the season starts....

Believable1 Unbelievable0

We made a big mistake dropping out of the Java cup last minute, I know we had a game behind closed doors but we still missed about 180 minutes of football there. The boys at the match yesterday looked nowhere near ready!

why is it that when people complain about british businesses being taken over by foreign nationals that is deemed an acceptable thing to say, but when I post that I would prefer that we are not taken over by foreign nationals the post doesn't get printed?
It's just an opinion - and I think quite an acceptable one - not everything in Britain should be put up for sale - the fans should own our club - like Barcelona - not some rich guy from the other side of the world who's never even been to Everton
Clozem {Ed025's Note - its a fair point mate...

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Couldn't agree more Clozem. Clubs should be about fans and football, not about business.

can we stop being negative fans?if this takeover rumour is true then lets have faith that bk has finally found someone that has the interest of everton football club at heart. bk said that's the only group of people he will sell to. and if these rumours are not true then we will carry on and wait. granted bk hasn't done a lot right over the past few years but has done a lot less wrong over his time with everton so lets have faith that he will do what is best for THE PEOPLE'S CLUB!! and one last thing lets look forward to this season instead of moaning and looking into a pre-season FRIENDLY with too much detail. kicking off against united will hopefully be a good thing because we need to be at our best from game one, hopefully leading us to a good start. coyb

Noticed that Matt Philips didn't play for Blackpool yesterday, he was named as a sub but never came on! Perhaps strengthening the rumours that he could be on his way to Everton?
I think that he would be a great addition to the squad playing on the right-wing!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

He did come on.

Not sure he will still fancy a move after them beating us 2-0

went to game yesterday ,never looked like scoring never looked like we had played together before e
we looked worse than we did against the game behind closed doors last week .hope david moyes has got something up his sleeve because on this showing he will have to work some magic .thats the first time i have sat and never heard the fans even break out into song it was so crap ,blackpool looked like the prem outfit they even made six subs all together and still scored another goal
rant over i will still be there on monday the 20th hopeing he has kicked them all up the arse after that showing {Ed025's Note - friendlies are just that mate...friendly!...i know because of our recent poor starts, people are are going to say we are not ready, but these games are mainly to get players up to speed after the break..

Believable3 Unbelievable1

People really need to relax, it is PRESEASON, I mean you only have to look at Newcastles preseason last season to see the importance, they versed some very poor teams and lost or drew, and yet they started the season unbeaten in the first 11 games.

The main thing was there were no injuries, and it was a decent match for a preseason which means that the lads had a decent run out, those two are all you hope from a preseason, well me, anyway.

Besides, we hit the bar, had a goal disallowed and in the 1st half we looked actually decent.

People are seriously over-reacting to this result, I mean Spuds lost the Watford and Chelsea (and they had a full strength side) lost to Brighton, guess it means it will be Everton, Spuds and Chelski for the drop then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Friendly games are fitness an nothing else, we'll obviously get better at the end of the season you look back an think we finished 7th in the league. Semi final of the fa cup an robbed by Chelsea in the league cup. You don't remember every pre season game an result because most of the time they are boring games with the players just getting back into it.

Dave Tuebrook

Agree0 Disagree0

It may be preseason and only for fitness but what about morale ? I could understand getting beat 1-0 by a lucky goal but we were totally outplayed by a championship outfit. Not good enough.

Personally i think are signings are done but u hope not the only way we wull sign players is uf a big plsyers what you reckon. -wavertreeblue-

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I would say permanent signings will be done, unless others are sold, which I don't see happening, but you would have to think Moyes would utilise the loan market, he has pulled some gems in the years, and hopefully he can find another 1 or 2 to help push us to the European spots.
