Ok, we haven't got any money unless someone leaves, and we haven't got a massive wage budget to pay any of big names. There's got to be a plethera of world class players out there who will come for next to nothing or on a free to a top flight club like us and demand an eighth of what Barton wants. Moyes has taken chances in the past and they've worked out fine. I say keep everyone we've got and get the overseas scouts working overtime. C,mon DM hold your balls and take a chance, 25 days left to work your magic..

Were to start?? On last nights performance I see a long hard season ahead for us blues. Top 6 finish? a long way off, a more realistic finish is top half. Howard, reliable as ever, Baines, stands out in team, Jags and Distin will be there at start of season, Neville, top captain, lacks pace and creativity, Felli, as if has never been out, Barkley, not ready Rodwell, over rated, Coleman, dangerous going forward, Anichebe, Useless, Saha, Beckford and Yak all lazy without a decent effort between them. BK you need to get funds fast give Moyes a chance. If not, get out before the fans turn on you {Ed025's Note - this warning has come too late, im afraid...the fans have spoken.....but i agree with most of what you say..

this is how i see it,

we don;t need a forward now we have cover for cahill's position in the form of barkley.
Cahill can be freed up to play more as a forward, which he's done away the last few season, now we can cover his position, happy dayz {Ed025's Note - you sound like bill kenwright....yes, we do need a forward, and some back ups get in the real world mate..

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Cahill past his best i'm afraid. He was very clumsy last night giving away possession and needless free kicks. Looks way of the pace at the moment and that was only a friendly. We need a striker simple as {Ed025's Note - easier said..than done..

Agree0 Disagree0

I really think we need to start leaving cahill on the bench and using him as an impact player And playing with 2 up front Saha/vellious and beckford and a striker on loan But definately 442 formation

Agree0 Disagree0

Cahill is useless as a striker, he's is NOT a striker, he's only useful in a CF position.

Right, so we have beaten Bury, lost 1 and won 1 against average MLS sides, struggled past a poor Brum side and lost to Bremen and Villarreal. In all games we have looked lacking in vision, pace, creativity and last seasons problems in front of goal looks likely to continue. Add to this the fact that we ain't gonna be signing anyone during the transfer window and have the smallest squad on the premier league. 1 week before kickoff so I guess we're ready for the season then....
KENs**tE OUT

Do the club even remember what "Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" means?, I don't have it tattooed on my wrist for nothing Kenwright step up or step down. {Ed025's Note - we all feel down at the moment mate, i think the players do as well...lets hope that next week we put all this behind us, and get off to a good start....COYB..

I hope we sign Barton - there is absolutely no way that value for money £35m goal machine Andy Carroll will be able to stay off the ale when Joey moves in down the road

I can't wait to watch the red filth try and justify £100,000 a week when he's pictured with a traffic cone on his ead in Matthew Street with JB

Its what we will expect from JB and he will have friends around him - Carroll won't

Come on Uncle Bill sign him now {Ed025's Note - just sign anybody!..

Believable2 Unbelievable0

WHEN? WHEN? AND AGAIN WHEN?

WHEN HAVE WE EVER DONE ANY BUSINESS EARLY IN THE TRANSFER WINDOW? NEVER STOP THE PANIC NOW BOYS, WE'LL GET JUST WHAT WE NEED, MOYES IS STILL TRYING TO UNEARTH SOME GEMS AND BARGAIN DEALS. WHO CARES IF THERE ARE LOANS OR FREE, MOYES WILL FIND THE RIGHT PLAYERS TO COME IN, HE ALWAYS DOES {Ed025's Note - i love your optimism...but are you seriously trying to tell us, that it is by choice, we have not signed anybody?...wake up..and smell the coffee..

Agree0 Disagree0

Barton is a good player but have we not got enough midfielders, we would be better concentrating on getting a wide player or a striker -

Everyones crying & claiming we whe not at the races yesterday but I would have to disagree, we whe the better team inthe 1st half, Baines, Coleman, Barkley, Felleni all looked class, we could of been 2 or 3 up at half time & second half we lost Coleman & made a lot of changes but I do not think its as bad as every1 makes out, we need a striker & a winger, thats all, if not still not the end of the world because we have a few youngsters that might surprise us, just support the lads & stop beggin after players that don't play 4 us, we could get off 2 a good start & end up better off than last season, we just need to start well & think we might, i'm going to the Yids game & think we'll win COYB
Stop crying about s**t we can't do nothing about & back the boys {Ed025's Note - if you were happy with the side on friday...you need to go to specsavers!..we were awful, and yes a lot of us are moaning about the lack of new faces, its our right to moan, when we purchase our season tickets!...but once the first whistle blows, we will all forget about that..and unreservedly cheer on the blues...COYB..

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Nah Ed, no need 4 specs mate, Saha, Baines, Coleman all had good chances 2 score 1st half, all I said was we whe the better team 1st half, not happy because we lost the game & a home game @ that but u need 2 realise it was only a friendly & we only lost by 1 2 a very good side, ur all talkn like we got battered, we held our own When season ko u'll c that we'll b alright
In moyes we trust {Ed025's Note - i know we all look at the side through rose tinted glasses, because we are desperate for them to do well, but for me, it highlighted our need for new blood..but thanks for your post..

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree, first half we looked alot better than Villarreal but the second half was horrible, we hardly even touched the ball. I hate to say but as soon as Cahill came on we never looked like scoring.

GP {Ed025's Note - we need some new players GP, its as simple as that mate..

Why can't we get Parker, Barton, sturridge, Defoe and a cover for Gaines are we really that poor, BK do something for the club, all we've been doing is hoping tell us what we want to hear the truth, tell us how much the clubs in debt, it makes me really angry but I will always back moyes and th team if moyes leaves which he won't i will understand and I think we all would. {Ed025's Note - good post mate..except for your possible signings, they are impossible!..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair enough ed

who gives a crap about friendlys, lets see were we are at the end of september hopefully a couple of signings before end of august will happen but if not and we keep arteta jags and fellaini we will finish top 8 no probs
school of science {Ed025's Note - i know friendlies are crap..but there is only one week to the start of the season, and we look lethargic and disjointed..

Anyone who reads my posts knows how much I love our club & always try to remain upbeat about our prospects. However, I've just watched last night's game again &, I must admit, I'm worried. Up until Seamus went off, it wasn't too bad. OK, I thought Saha looked a bit isolated & that Anichebe on the left just wasn't working. But, other than that, the team had a good balance & Seamus & Ross B. looked great.
However, after the injury, (scandalous challenge, should have been a red card & turned the match nasty) we went to pieces. There was no balance &, apart from Bainsey, no width. Tim C. looked like he didn't know where he should be playing, Rodwell disappeared, Barkley kept drifting inside & Felli would have been lucky to stay on in a Prem match. Putting ME on as sub would have had as much effect as Yak had & Beckford, despite his efforts, still looked out of his depth to me.
I'm afraid it's time to swallow a bit of pride & go to City & try to get Bellamy & Johnson on loan. We are not going to get big money for any of our players now, apart from Jags or Bainsey who we CANNOT afford to lose. Rodwell looks £12m at best, & if we could get that I would take it
On the plus side, we only conceded one goal against very good opposition, & with Ossie & Mikel back in midfield, & a bit more support for Saha we should be ok, ( if mid-table mediocrity is "ok")
But DEFINITELY, a new striker, (or 2) & a specialist left midfielder.
I'm keeping my chin up......but it's definitely heavier than it was at this time yesterday

Last night my man of the match
would by far be Ross Barkley.

This would be my team to play
against Spurs:

Howard

Neville Jagielka Distin Baines

Fellaini Osman

Barkley

Cahill

Beckford Saha

Subs: Mucha Heitinga Gueye
Vellios Yakubu

As I say Barkley played great last
night against Villarreal.

Rodwell played rubbish.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Cahill doesn't provide nearly enough in a position like that, we need a more creative player there. {Ed025's Note - but you cant blame tim!...have a look higher up the ladder..

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon for Saturday it will be

howard

neville jags distin baines

fellaini heitinga

anichebe cahill osman

saha

Totally agree that will be the team above again

The defence seemed are strongest area, with jagielka keeping tabs on Rossi, who looks a real prospect.
Villareal knew what to do to defeat us and that was to get rid of our strongest link Coleman, which they achieved, hope hes alright for the start of the season.

I really dread to think whats going to happen this season, WE NEED TRANSFERS.
Rodwell looked asif his game hadnt bettered, but actually got worse, giving the ball away an being tackled easily. Fellaini made some good tackles but if it was a prem game would have been sent off.

I say get rid of rodwell, 20 million, buy defoe, get barton (can see Arteta having a worse season than last term) Maybe get sturridge on loan, get rid of dead wood like yobo and the yak who got brought on but should of just stayed on the bench. Get cover for Baines as this season teams might try an get him out the game as hes our only threat down the left flank. Would get Johnson on loan, it isnt even a transfer to think about, just get him. A player of his standard out on loan, its a no brainer.

Overall, can i jsut say, Ross Barkley really impressed my lastnight, would be surprised if he goes to United for 20+ million next season.
What do ye think ED?

But being an Evertonian i always get behind the team, an always expect the best, my prediction this season i beileve will be 9th for us, but with possible transfers i can see us pushing for 6-5th.

COYB {Ed024's Note -

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I think a lot depends on injuries and our start. If we start well and avoid an injury crisis i believe we can push for top 6. Barkley and gueye could really help us this season

Barton would be a great addition to the sqaud with guarunteed injuries will give us depth and he gives 100% every game and plays with passion.GET IT DONE KENWRIGHT.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Barton would add some steel to our midfield and would get the fans buzzing about this season. A striker on loan is equally important. Bellamy on a 12 month loan would be great

Agree0 Disagree0

Barton would run through brick walls in a blue shirt, he would play with passion and fire up those around him.

It makes me angry - every one of these posts is negetive. Stop, compose yourselves, think.

Villareal are spanish - they play football like spanish teams. Theyre a good spanish team... they keep possession of the ball and play pass and move. Our performance wasn't awful, although it wasnt great it was simply the difference in style.

Look at the champions league final because of the different styles of english and spanish football, barca had a lot more posession, they made man u look sluggish - does this mean the man u team are unprepared and unfit? do you think all the man u supports went onto their website and said 'who is doing the coaching here'? Get a f**cking hold of yourselves. Hold your comments until the season starts unless you know what you're talking about. If you're an everton supporter, how about you think about why they called it everton 'supporter'...

-- OP --

Believable4 Unbelievable2

The blues will do well again this season, as moyes always gets the best out of his players and we have gueye, barkley and velios coming through who i think are all going to be good players for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really do hope their is transfer activity in the next few weeks, i will only worry when the transfer window shuts. There is still time for moyes to wheel and deal in the market

WHO NEEDS NEW SIGNINGS WITH ROSS BARKLEY LOOKING SO SILKY. GIVE HIM A GOOD RUN IN THE TEAM AND WATCH THE MAGIC HAPPEN, IN MOYES WE TRUST

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Barkley looks like he has been playing for years, he looks composed and full of ideas. He will get better and better and could well be a key player for us this season

In my opinion teams respond to the environment around then...at the moment there are so many fans that are negative and this can easily get to the players. This time last year this was out season..we had really bad luck and ended up with respectful position. What exactly h
as changed? A few average teams have spent a lot on a few average players and we have seen the beginning of a fe
w very talented youngsters. I am frustrated that we haven't signed anyone but I will always be optimistic about our chances because we do have a team that can challenge any other alongside one of the countries best youth systems

I'd love to know how much that villereal team cost - isnt their stadium about a 30,000 seater? Maybe someone can do the maths on wages and value of the team cos they outpased and outplayed us for most of the game. We looked interested and made an effort for about 10 minutes towards the end - nowhere near good enough.

How come there players can all play that spanish style 2 or 3 touch football so easily - retain possession and every man moves into space straight away so that the guy on the ball always has two or three options to pass the ball away within a few seconds of receiving it - and yet ours look like lumpen schoolkids who've hardly kicked a ball, in comparison?
It was embassing at times - don't we practice 2-3 touch football? Every time one of our lads got the ball, if it didn't bounce off his shins or get wellied into touch, he would run for 10 or 20 yards with it, get closed down as he got pushed into a cul de sac, with no passing options, and then got the ball taken off him. A total joke - only Louis Saha looked like he could control a ball properly.
And yet passing the ball every two or three touches is simple. The other players need to move into space to receive it though, straight away, and ours just stand there not moving.
Also - how come our lads can't pass the ball a couple of yards in front of the player they're passing too, moving towards their goal - so we as a team actually move in that direction - instead of just passing to feat (sometimes) and we just get nowhere slowly.
We're making the basics look difficult.

Who's the effs doing the coaching at Everton?

(I'd start to wonder about Moyes's team - who's doing the coaching and who's the physio - as we do seem get a lot of injuries too.)

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I love the fact that you think it is so easy to train a team to play the "spanish" way.... There are only a handfull of teams around the world who are good enough to play that way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not panic, it was only a friendly match and we will forget about it if we put in a good performance against spurs. Barkley look composed and classy, he will be exciting to watch this season

Agree0 Disagree0

You answered your question already, they are a Spanish team full of Spanish players, that's just the way these teams play, short quick movements, in England it's a different play style which sadly cannot match Spanish football quality.
