Made me laugh on arsenal site someone posted they need to build a team around Whiltshire ramsay Walcott ox and Gibbs all of them injury prone well done today boys outclassed them in every department if we perform like that in every game we will make top 4 the score line today also gave us advantage on goal difference which is worth a point come end of season need a big win on sat to take us 2 pts ahead on level games arsenal have cup game, today proved a point that we have a improved would never of won a game of that importance under moyes and I was is biggest fan but moved on, now I only hope Martinez gets the backing champions league or not as he is heading for the top let's hope it's with us lukaku did not look like a player who didn't want to stay the way he hugged Martinez was special I get the feeling if we get champions league we can buy him if we don't make I can't see where we get the money to splash 20/25m on one player as we will get Europa league but still need to add fair few players, just to round of great to see stones making it class player he is going to makes mistakes but learns well and comfortable on the ball barkley now first team seems like we're going to see youngsters given a go wait for it george green get ready cause in next 12/18 months you are going to here more of him been told by someone who is friendly with staff member not high up but the boy is looking to be loaned out for 6 months or season long loan next season aparently he is the real deal and Martinez is monitoring him, but I saw him play once he was special that's for sure but if he works hard does not get bad injuries and is managed right then yea going to very top luckily we have manager who will let him be what he wants to be like barkley yes he makes mistakes so does messi trouble is 9 times out of ten Barcelona will have 70% of play let the boy express himself for england like we did with gazza

. ;. so the question for me now is where does jagielka fit in? Stones is looking like becoming an awesome 'ball playing' centre back which I'm not sure Jags is. & he clearly fits into Martinezs set-up. difficult 1 this because jags is a terrific defender, but I cannot see roberto breaking up this winning side anytime soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's the Oviedo/Baines thing again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jagielka will turn 32 this summer; Stones will turn 20 in May. I don't see any issue with each getting games in our team for the next few seasons. That's until Jagielka eventually retires or leaves and Stones is a regular first choice and becomes our captain. The bigger issue for me is who is successor to Distin?

Tyias browning is the answer sid

Agree0 Disagree0

Browning might be, Swan, but he's not yet as ready for the first team as Stones clearly is. Until Browning is truly ready, I feel that we would miss Distin more than any other of our defenders.

For all those loyal youngsters who travel to all EFC games home and away and have never seen the glory days like some of us old f*rts.
Ask Grandad who said this but note it, today we are back!
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Every manager we've had since I can remember - that's from Harry Catterick onwards - has been heavily criticised by some of our fans some of the time. For example, one time with the Cat was when he dropped Alex Young for Joe Royle. With Howard Kendall it was just before we started on the glorious mid-1980s run of success.
It seems that RM - despite some initial concerns about his appointment from some quarters - has now got pretty much 100% backing from the fans. Does anyone think differently?

nothing to do with everton.norwich sack manager

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Norwich have sacked manager Chris Hughton and replaced him with youth coach Neil Adams.

The Canaries were beaten 1-0 by West Brom on Saturday and are five points clear of the relegation zone with five games remaining.

They are still to play Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Hells Bells what an induction for the new guy Neil Adams

Agree0 Disagree0

That's the same Neil Adams who played for us in the late 1980s. It does seem that lots of Everton players take up coaching and managerial roles.

Hi blues!
Good win today for both our teams!
I'd just like to say wouldn't it be great to have two teams from mersyside in the champions league!
I think it'll be great for the city.
Just a reminder for you young evertonions that our two teams have or always used to have a great relationship, I went to a game with my dad Everton v Liverpool when I was 10 we sat in the Everton stadium with the Everton fans and everyone was nice and just enjoyed the day, Liverpool won that day an all I got was a pat on the back from your supporters saying what a great game we played.
That's what it's all about!
Davyboyblue if u see this stop waisting your time on the Liverpool page an just enjoy the season your having, Suarez has been banned/injured for 21 games in his Liverpool career and we've only lost won in that period, so stop your silly posts.

***Positivity Warning***

What a remarkable performance. I don't usually do reviews but I'm in such joyful delirium that this week I'm going to.

Martinez: 10. Starting with the gaffer. Today he showed his quality. Tactical masterclass. Lukaku wide right, Naismith in the false 9, Mirallas and Baines ripping up the left. They had no answer. There was no one for their defenders to mark, then all of a sudden they had everyone to mark. We kept it for long periods and always looked a threat on the counter. Roberto, Senhor, I doff my hat.

Howard: 9. Top of his game, few top reaction saves in the box and a couple of wonder saves from distance. Kicking consistent. Calming presence behind the defence.

Stones: 8. And that's being harsh. He coped with everything and at times made defending look easy. But we will all remember the moment he got caught. This will sometimes happen and one day it will lead to a goal. But I won't be on his case about it because he can be the complete package and he plays a v tough position. A future star. Some teams lose their Captain and centre back and can't cope. We can, his name is Stones.

Distin: 10. Why not? Can you think of one foot he put wrong? He is a physical marvel. A colossus. At 36 he is playing his best football, he looks to be getting better. He destroyed Giroud in the air. Won everything, tackled everything. They scored nothing. He gets 10.

Baines: 9. Mr Consistent. Absolute menace down the left. He had all down down there. Superb pass to Lukaku and then Naismith a few moments earlier. Showing the sort of vision you'd expect from a deep lying playmaker?

Coleman: 8. Not quite as dangerous as Baines but it was defensively I noticed him. He really has upped his game in this department. He won the ball back and blocked everything. He stopped shots, crosses and was always a threat going forward. And that bit of skill towards the end. Oh Shemus you didn't?! Yes. He did.

Barry: 9. Steady Eddy. He is always there. If there's a loose ball to be had he will pick it up and distribute. Calming presence, experienced head, all the old cliches apply. Sign him up please.

JMac: 10. My Man Of The Match. He is an animal. He was everywhere. How does he keep going? How many sprints must he have completed? Time and again he pressed, he was in their faces, any loose touch he was on it. He hardly committed a foul. Not only that he didn't lose the ball once. Every time he won it he found a teammate. Good driving runs forward. I love this guy. He is outstanding. He makes us tick. Immense character building performance.

Barkley: 8. On early he did well to adapt to the pace straight away. He wouldn't have expected to be in that early. He's another danger player we have. He's composed, strong, skillful, 2 footed, he's got the lot. It wasn't all about him today, he was a cog in the machine. He moved things along, he ran with purpose, He's still learning. Exciting times.

Mirallas: 8. Slightly overshadowed by the two coming up, but he's always a threat. How many is that now? Baines, Coleman, Barkley, him? I've never known an Everton team have so many threats. His direct running is refreshing, he causes panic. He tracked back, got stuck in. You could tell he was a man playing for his place in the CL.

Lukaku: 10. I'm giving him 10 because he was asked by the manager to adapt his game today. He played as a right winger. Could you tell that wasn't his normal position? I couldn't. His movement is superb. The diagonal was always on, he was our out ball. He latched on to everything, he ran with purpose, he linked up. His goal they didn't wanna get near him. They never got to terms with our shape with him out there. His celebration was fantastic. Big performance on the big occasion but well done Martinez for putting him there. Please stay.

Naismith: 10. Well well well, what a player this lad is. Today we saw the best of him playing that false 9 position. He wasn't a striker, one minute he was deep, usually when the ball was central. As soon as it went wide his runs into the channels were first class. They couldn't handle him. Whose responsibility was it to pick him up? Flamini? Arteta? Per? Vermaelen? They didn't have a clue. Constant threat, he linked everything up. What ever he was fed in the summer it worked. He went away, shaved his head, came back and from minute one in pre season he looked a man who meant business. So pleased for him. Well done

Subs:

Ozzy: Well that's 15 games played as captain, 13 wins. Took a battering to face whilst getting stuck in and forced off early. But not before unleashing a corker that I thought was destined for the net.

McGeady: on just long enough to show us one of his trademark runs.

Del Boy: the game was won. So why not try to make a total mockery of big Per? He'd already skinned him 5 times before finally trying one too many.

Martin Atkinson: Shoutout to him. he's reffed us in the past and has given some shockers. Today he let the game flow. He could have booked a few more of our players but chose to give a warning. I thought a few decisions actually went our way today. No complaints, I won't be questioning his neutrality anytime soon.

Overall a top performance. Dare I say one of the best team performances I have ever witnessed at Goodison. How many teams can keep the ball from Arsenal for those periods? Martinez speaks of arrogance. We played with arrogance today. We went for the throat. We are in with a great shout of a CL place lads. Keep believing we are on the march.

I don't agree with all your scores Oli. but wtf. I agree we were magnificent. And I agree that RM caught Wenger and me by surprise with a tactical masterstroke. hence Lukaku going straight up to him after scoring and giving him the biggest hug ever. Oh isn't it great to be Blue just now.

Great post

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't honestly remember when it was that I last felt this good after a game. We've had some great results this season, but this one, to paraphrase the great philosopher Keanu Reeves: "Whoa."
Also, well said about Naismith Oli, as this game should finally put to rest all the Naisy naysayers! And about time too. The lad's a great addition to the squad. He's not just a super sub who can only play well against lower league teams and never was. His passion for every game is an inspiration to the younger players at the club. If we do get Champions league, then we will owe much of the credit to Naisy.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've just saved me a good 20 minutes writing what would have been effectively a word for word repeat of this post. Agree with every single word and rating you've said. Fantastic post. Fantastic atmosphere. Fantastic game.

Good to read that the club has awarded a Testimonial match to Leon Osman as part of this coming summer's pre-season schedule.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree Sid. A great servant who still has so much to offer the team despite what some posters suggest.

Agree0 Disagree0

5 stitches and concussion for his troubles today. True team player and deserves his testimonial.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would prefer if this was his last season with us, but cannot deny him a testimonial. Excellent servant and I'll try and get a ticket for the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i still think he has a lot to offer AB, maybe not starting every game, but still a very valuable member of the squad mate..

I'm content for Osman - or any player come to that - to play in our team as long as RM wants that.

Fantastic result today from the whole team. Outfought and outplayed Arsenal throughout the game. Special mention to Naismith, Lukaku and Baines (who I would have given man of the match to). 4th place is now definitely on despite a tricky run in. Let's take one game at a time and not underestimate the likes of Sunderland, Palace and Hull who will all be looking to finish strongly. The home games against Utd and City will be massive as will that away match at Southampton.
But in Roberto I trust. The momentum is now in place and CL football is a reality rather than a possibility.

Well done today you looked brilliant and will be a credit to the EPL if you make the CL next season.

Obviously bitterly disappointed with us but credit where it due, over 38 games we all get what we deserve and if we are to lose our place in Europe's elite competition thern you are very worthy replacements.

Well done again

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Respect to you gunner62 after last week's disagreements. Like your mate DG you took the trouble to post acceptance rather than moan. It's now an interesting end to the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Much respect gunner thought it was a good game to teams fighting the points. I think you guys have the easier run in but on that display I think the toffee are more than a match for any team at home like you said whoever gets forth spot will deserve it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads I think in many ways it wouldn't be such a bad thing if you pip us for 4th, ( I'll probably be drummed out of Arsenal club for this) but it may take no champions league football for us to change as a club and for yourselves? What a great example of what can be achieved without a sugar daddies billions.
You lose Moyes but go on to bigger and better things and we don't make the CL and? Here's hoping .
Well done again

Howard-8-some great work commanding his back line and that save first half, wow. Coleman-8-his skill was just phenominal and the run were he was doing keepy ups, incredible. Stones-8-two big mistakes but other than that his reading of the game was superb and his tackle on the right was sensational. Distin-8.5-had giroud in his pocket and played it out very well. Baines-8-did everything right, from the amount of touches to his movment. Barry-9-dictated play and ran the game so well, I love him. Mccarthy-9-unbelievable, his passing and his tanacity was great, 13m was an absolute steal. Lukaku-8-usually his touches are bad and he can't hold the ball up, today he was a monster, he was running at people and did a few tricks, well done rom, special goal aswell. Naismith-8-worked his landing gear off as usual and didn't stop working their defenders, took his goal well. Mirallas-7.5-was well up for it, did that stupid thing running across our box but worked hard and set the team up well. Osman-6-unlucky with his volley, hope his injury isn't serious. Barkley-6.5-lost the ball every time and doesn't look up, on hos arse a lot too, worked hard though. Mcgeady-6.5-not on for long but his flip flap was great and he is so fast. Doofy loofy-6-not on long enough. What a result! One of the best games ever and what made it great was the fact we played great in both halves and the flair we played with, the arrogance was something special, what a game, skill of the day? Colemams back heel sideways thing past cazorla, closely followed by mcgeadys flip flap, roms cut back and roulette not to mention colemans epic run, made up with the reception arteta got aswell, what a black box result! Mikel what's the score? Mikel mikel what's the score!?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cant disagree with any of that except the Barkley score I thought he came on and did a professional and disciplined job in a deeper role, the whole midfield dominated we may have been shaded in the possession but we did a hell of a lot more with it. I thought Lukaku was immense today his first touch was excellent which is something that sometimes let's him down.
I was a little disappointed with the booing of Arteta didn't leave under the best of circumstances but he's hardly a hate figure and I for one appreciate him for what he did at our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whole team were immense today. Even Stones mistake is only noticeable because of how well we were holding off the arse at every advance and outplaying them when we were on the ball. I do agree with Al that the Arteta booing was a bit much, but then again, Arteta does always seem to act like a tool when he comes back to Goodison.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with ToffeeAl. Your scores are pretty well there Swan except for Barkley. He linked play really well and played a much more deep position than his usual no 10 spot. I thought his distribution was good and he deserved 8.5. Just about to watch the game yet again on TV. We were soooooo good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with almost all of your ratings Swan, bar the one for Ross. He does look up mate but he is ahead of the play. He is looking before he receives the ball, watch him next game. ToffeeAl, Arteta deserves the boo's and then more. When he signed for Arsenal, he had the chance to sort it earlier on the transfer day. He rejected their offer only to ask for the transfer to be revived at the 11th hour, leaving us with no time to replace him. He had also held the club to ransom for 12 months for 75k per week but then took a pay cut to join them! He doesn't deserve any loyalty from us blues in my opinion anyway.
Great result, great performance

Agree0 Disagree0

SpudV I just think he was a great player for us and yes he did a couple things that were a bit selfish but Booing for the whole 90 mins was over the top, just my opinion.

What a game, what an atmosphere and what a result. It's been a while since the old lady rocked like that and hopefully it'll be rocking like crazy on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening next season as we pit ourselves against Europe's finest. I expected a transitional season this season as we got used to Roberto's way but this way exceeds everything. Bring them all on, we needn't fear anyone at the moment. Always a great time to be a Blue but this feels oh so special, the good times are back!

I loved how Romalu ran to Bobby when he scored.

I wonder what that was all about?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought the same. Maybe there's something in that with regard to his future with us next season. Why would Romelu want to be anywhere else? Let's push the boat out to sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it was in appreciation of Martinez's tactics. Arsenal were probably prepared for Rom in his normal position, as well as ready to face Del boy after the scares he gave them at the emirates. Bobby got his tactics spot on, even though Osman's injury could have derailed the whole thing. But just look how happy Rom is at the club. I know he's expensive, but sign him up and let him finally settle at a club where he can be a true hero and watch him give his all for the team on a regular basis. We've got to try and keep the big beast! (I know It probably won't happen though!)

Gent's I'm a man of my word.

Well done today. You totally outclassed us. Man for man you were not just better than us, but MUCH better than us.

Out-thought us, outfought us and just simply played us off the park.

Everton, top top team and I just hope we can finish above you this season.

Well done again. Enjoy the rest of your season.

Dags.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers dags. Hell of a game. Good luck for the rest of your season. Hope you beat spuds and Manchester United to 5th lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Respect Dags, one question.

Why is Arteta always such a wingspan when you play us? It's like we kicked him out of the team or something?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham after our spats last week I admire your honesty and integrity to come back here so soon after the game. The end of the season is nail biting to say the least. Yes we have a game in hand but your run in on paper at least looks easier than ours. With a game out of the PL next week you could find yourselves below Everton by 2 points and an inferior goal difference.
Anyhow respect to you (without loves and kisses- just leave that to our neighbours) and let's look forward to the run in.

Agree0 Disagree0

That statement is a credit to you. Fair play. We were up and at it today, you could see the desire and hunger. Without wanting to take gloss off it you guys looked a team under strength. Some big players missing and dare I say it a team totally unprepared for what Martinez had planned. Still long way to go, nothing certain today's result just brings us that bit closer.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're a credit to your club, Dagenham and a man of honour. But you're not having Gareth Barry no matter how nicely you ask!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pleasure Gent's.

Gods Doctor. I have no idea mate. Arteta is like that all the time.
I think he gets upset if somebody messes up his immaculate hairstyle, lol.

Onlyhaveeyesforblue.
I never use to rate Gareth Barry but he's been imense since he joined Everton.

Oli.
You out-fought us in every department mate.Yes, we had big players missing but not too sure if it would have made that much difference to the score mate.

Thank's Dentie but we will still try to nick your '4th spot', lol.

Davey.

Yes, you have a very hard run-in mate so let's hope the boys from Manchester can do us a big favour, lol.
And don't forget, you have a very tricky game away to Southampton (your words not mine lol)
