Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

05 Oct 2014 22:59:05
I'm as disappointed as the next blue, but I can't believe some of the posts I've seen on this site, not just today, but for the past few weeks. The negativity has been overwhelming at times. While Today's result was a kick in the Stones (no pun intended), there are still over 30 games remaining in the league and some doomsayers are talking about a relegation battle already. The games we've had so far have been hard. We've faced some tough opposition and a battle on several fronts in the league, cups and Europe, as well as an alarming amount of bad luck with injuries and individual mistakes during games, yet people are calling for Martinez's resignation and the dropping of certain players. Might I remind certain posters of the Lynch mob comments about Naismith not so long ago? Look at him now. And look at how quickly fickle minds have been changed. It takes time to bed in players and it takes time to build confidence and momentum. We've had something like 7 games in 20 days and our form has not always been great, but we have persevered and all is not lost yet. We knew going in that it would be a tough slog, but now some people seem surprised that we're not Bayern Munich. Some people are even claiming that certain players should not have been given longer contracts, when during the transfer window, these same misery mongers were praying for these players to sign. Does anyone really think it helps to cast such a dark cloud over the proceedings? This was always going to be a difficult season with the amount of extra games, competition and injuries early on, but also expectation after last seasons successes. I agree that some players need to pull their finger out, but more importantly, some supporters need to have a word with themselves. Negativity infects everything and not all players can have the moral fortitude of Steven Naismith to rise above it. We're even getting comments from Arsenal fans and Reds about how miserable some people are on this site. I for one know we are better than that. Stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution! We are Everton. We might not win, but we are famous for being some of the most passionate, loyal and vocal supporters in the league. Let's damn well keep it that way and bring the noise against Villa. Sorry for the rant, but misery loves company and that's not the company that I like to keep on this hallowed banter site that I (usually) thoroughly enjoy the posts of all on. Keep the faith my brothers and sisters in blue!

{Ed025's Note - best post of the year..respect OHEFB..

And I am sick of so called fans painting over cracks in our team! all we ask and hope for are better results than we are getting now. There are serious issues at the min and all the posts in the world won't change it! What I see are fans who love our club getting frustrated of our performances is there anything wrong with that? because we have no direct landline to RM office. My point is all you ninja's who think we are being harsh give your heads a shake we are Everton and expect better and just vent on here and well deserved I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i get in lancer...but what do we do...give up?...no we fight our corner mate...COYB..

I Agree, great post. Everyone is slagging Lukaku off but he is being asked to play on the wing for tactical reasons, he will come good. I think we just really need Barkley back asap. He finds and creates space like no other player we have.

COYB!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry boys I have blue blood but frustrating times at the min respect x.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough Lancerboy and totally understandable. I have had my moments of being fed up too this season, don't get me wrong, there have been too many 'bad days at the office', but I just think some posters are taking a few comments too far. We all want the club to do well, but not at the cost of Adding to the gloom and inviting ridicule (or worse, pity) from other clubs supporters. All the best to you mate.

Mighty blues have lost their way after finishing 5th last season.Europe cannot be used as an excuse for poor performances, can't be unlucky every week.
Martinez trying to dress it up every week in his post match analysis but who is he trying to fool.
Pre season was dismal & it's gone from bad to worse.
Lukaku looks a shadow of the player he was last season on loan which begs the question, he was in the shop window trying to impress previous manager mourhino & a host of other potential interested parties.
Maybe he can't handle the pressure playing with such a hefty price tag 28 mill weighing down on him.
Mourhino saw us coming & said thanks very much.
We have an ageing team hibbert Howard jags distin Osman barry who have had their time.young fresh legs needed in defence & midfield because were being run ragged by teams.Palace have Sussed the way we play press us high up the field making defenders panic & make simple mistakes all to easy to play against.
Can anyone tell me what Mcgeady gives the team absolutely Nowt.He loses the ball cheaply on halfway line & teams counter & catch us napping all to easy.
Need young blood in January to strengthen worst defence in the league.
What worries me most is that the defence reminds me more of Wigan every time I watch them & we all know what happened to them.
Get a grip martinez can only play one way to open & predictable no plan B or C.

Said i'd do a post on mccarthy and here it is, watched highlights of henderson against wba last night, heard a few of me mates arguing over who is better, it got me thinking, what does mccarthy actually do? He runs around the halfway line a lot and does the odd tackle, his passing is always sideways and he never carries the ball, he never wants the ball, doesn't create anything, doesn't score and never drives forward, henderson its pass and move, mccarthy its pass to coleman or mirallas then jog back near the centre halfs, he does the odd decent tackle here and there but doesn't actually contribute anything going forward, its all well and good working hard but you have to have something extra, 'bargain at 13m', was it? We spent 13m on a player who will not reach 10 goals in his career for us and might get 3 assists a season, i'd say headless chicken is very very close to what he is, so again, what does he do, i'd hold off calling him class and all as he is far from it, he's okay at best, will put a shift in and that's all, not vert good

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bit harsh that Swan, last time I looked event the best flair players can't do much without the ball. He might not be a creative force, but in my opinion at he's best he's a very good box to box midfielder. Admittedly he hasn't hit the heights of last year but no one has so far this term. It's easy to forget after our below average start that we were all dreading United coming in for him during the Summer. I'd like to see him and Besic given a go at some point maybe when Barkley is back? Would be a very dynamic midfield with McCarthy doing the Barry role and Besic getting up and down.

I'm sorry to say this but we looked slow a ponderous on the ball. We are missing Barkleys drive through the middle.
Rom is dreadful at the mo.
Cannot play with back to goal.
He looks out of his depth at mo.
Yes we have injuries but the squad needs to buck up. I still believe in Roberto but he needs to start looking inward and at what he says.
Time for squad to wake up.

Er have I missed something here?
Last week a perfectly good West Ham goal was disallowed against Utd due to the 'Hammers Head' being offside.
Today in the same goal mouth Falcao looked at least a yard offside when the ball was played through to him, but that's okay because it's Utd.
Sorry more fishy than the hold of an Aberdeen trawler.

In all honesty, I don't believe he was off. Howard should have put the ball in the stands and we should have defended better when Di Maria put the ball back in. Only ourselves to blame, silly mistakes seem to cost us goals every game

Agree0 Disagree0

He was definitely on mate

Agree0 Disagree0

He was on and the ball should have been put over the stand. If a defender had done that Howard would be elfin and blindin down his ear.

Really like Howard but he has to do the basics.

And that penalty miss?? Senior squad should lead by example, they are good enough . so stand up and be counted.

Villa is the 'new' (and last) start to our season. Get it right and we are on the way up. Get it wrong and.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I will respond as your mentioned me.

Yes, I am for real (ask Ed025, we have had many arguments on here), it's a matter of opinions isn't it?. If I was a Kopite I would be over the moon how carp we've been, I'd say the kopites on here are the ones who are delighted how we are doing.

If people expect me to be made up with how carp we are doing, then sorry to disappoint, but that isn't happening.

Yes but there is line between constructive criticism and total negativity. Yes there are problems at the moment - we can all see that - we are not stupid and neither have our heads in the sands but your sign off says it all. A supporter (whether through good or bad supports the team) . The red side reading your posts think they are hilarious - already stated - and show a lack of support - time will tell how Roberto reacts and deals with the problems. I know you are entitled to your opinion but its as if you don't want them to get better so you can prove your point. I think this is sad.

Agree0 Disagree0

''I know you are entitled to your opinion but its as if you don't want them to get better so you can prove your point. I think this is sad.''

Not having a laugh Mike and do want success for Everton just as much as you. I have supported Everton since the age of ten and am now 45 . Have been through every single roller coaster with Everton and am a season ticket holder. I just don't think its constructive to diss every player barr a few as being c@ap. We have passengers who are not pulling their weight but that's not the whole team. At the end of the day Everton is bigger than any player or manager and I will support them.

{Ed025's Note - good post mate...im with you fella..

I don't know how long you have been on this site mate. But regulars will know my posting style by now.

You can't honestly believe that I want us to fail just so I can be proved right. Nothing would make me happier than a successful team.

This is just nonsense. I might not be fan of the year, but there is no way I am happy with what is going on.

And my sign off is correct, I am going to continue using it, (just as others have avatars). I can't wait till I don't have to use it anymore

Id say howard, joel, jagielka, distin, alcaraz, hibbert, mcgeady, pienaar, atsu, osman and kone are not good enough, and i'm starting to doubt mccarthy, who I will do a seperate post about, we are an embarrassment to watch, aston villa will have benteke and agbonlahor back after the international break so i'd say that's another loss, I can imagine 1-0 defeat to burnley too, I don't know how to put it, we are so bad, i'd actually say after qpr and burnley we have been the worst team overall in the prem to watch, one of the worst defensive records in europe and an evergrowing list of rubbish at the club, even darker times ahead, me and degsy agreed to wait until 10 games in but honestly I give up now, martinez is a fluke from last season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We've played arsenal Chelsea Liverpool and Manu in our first 7 games - should get a bit easier now and key players will be back soon

Meanwhile we've made a decent start in the Europa whilst missing these key players so I for one am not too down

I thought we looked better than Manu in the second half and they're winning goal was a scabby mis-hit

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Oct 2014 16:47:03
Can't wait for Swans ratings on this one. Seriously though what this does show is the lack of depth we have in the squad. Been a bit unlucky that injuries have been to key players too. We will see what Robbie's really made of now. I for one would like him to stop talking about the exceptional character we show (all teams have this apparently whenever they lose), and start getting stuck in to some of the passengers we are carrying. I we all know who they are.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'll have a go

Howard - Crap
Hibbert - Why? just Why?
Stones - Ok
Jags - Awful
Baines - Meh
Messi's Shadow - Crap
Barry - Even worse
McGreedy - Anonymous
Pienaar - Useless
Donkey - Waste of space
Naismith - Whatever

The usual post match 'we where unlucky' from Martinez that he has been using since he was Wigan's manager and we know how that ended!!
Hibbo's days have gone give him a well earned back room job and let browning be Colemans replacement while he's injured.
Please god don't let Mcgready put on an everton shirt ever again, he is capable of the odd moment of magic but the weeks of dross he produces in between this magic is just not worth it.
Now I'm not Lakaku's biggest fan we paid at least 18 mill to much for him but that's not his fault but he is so isolated up front on his own what chance does he have?
At the moment we have got real problems all over the pitch an am not convinced Martinez knows how to fix them

Disappointing loss to day - Stones now out for a few weeks! Now the back line will be stretched, certainly thing browning worth a start.
A lot of criticism for RM at the moment he has a couple of weeks to regroup with a break unfortunately key player injured or away with national squads.
Certainly the Europa league has an effect but performances have not been good enough and the league position never lies.
Costa £32m Lukaku £28 mm think Jose got it right just hope he's not another yakubu in the making!
This is where RM will have to show his true worth as a manager of our great club!

On three or four occasions we moved the ball at pace and ripped Man U apart. Why the hell do we not play like this all the time. We've been sussed by other teams now. Today Man u went from their box to ours in about 5 passes, we were knocking the ball around 5 times between one or two players and getting absolutely no where, or getting pressed back and then it has to go to Howard to launch, I don't know why unless he's trying to hit the statue masquerading as a Centre Forward. As I write I'm watching a centre forward who didn't cost much more than our record buy, score his 9th goal of the season. We are in a dogfight let's not doubt it. Whether we can get out is another matter. I am worried we might see an exodus in January not next summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We won't get relegated, mainly on the basis that the Premier League is full of crap. There will always be 3 worse teams than us, no matter how bad we are.

Everyone needs to calm down a bit. I was worried when Moyes left and got some real banter from others for saying so. But we are only a handful of games in and have had one of the most difficult starts in years. Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in our first 7 games. Added to which, a real difficult trip to Russia and an injury list starting to look like emergency ward 10! Look guys, I was the first to say let's wait and see how Roberto does over two seasons, but most of you are getting on his back when last season you were all kneeling at his feet. The reality is, we should have had a draw today. We should have also had some points in other games. We were without Barkley and Mirallas. 2 of our most inflential players. One criticism I do have is that we seem to carry McGeady.allowing for his lack of defensive qualities because he is so good going forwards? But what has he done so far this season? Not much in my view. I would even have Osman in before him even allowing for Osmans old legs. That aside, I am really worried about Stones. The 3 games at the beginning where Roberto played Jags and Distin were the ones we conceded 10 goals in. Without Stones we will be very vulnerable. Well we now have a run of non top 6 matches to play, so let's get behind the team and Roberto and show we are in a false position.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you on us being in a false position degs, but mcgeady is hopeless going forwards backwards or even sideways!, i would sooner give the kids a chance mate..

05 Oct 2014 16:00:55
I can't believe some people on here. Both of their goals came from world class players and if not for a succession of world class saves we would have at least got a point out of the game, never mind that Baines missed his first Premier League penalty for us. Add that to the fact that we were playing without arguably our 4 best players (Coleman, McCarthy, Mirallas and Barkley) and I would say that despite the result the performance was a step in the right direction compared to the rubbish we have had to endure most of this season. Chill out Blues! It's not good but no need to start acting like Kopites. I heard "We need to sack Martinez" in the pub. Ridiculous! I must say I am rather worried about Stones being injured though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Oct 2014 15:22:04
Well I must say McNair moved around the pitch quite well today considering he had to carry around Lukaku in his pocket too.

An average age of 21 in our back line and he was anonymous, he could learn a lot from an honest pro like Naismith who was a bloody annoying little so and so all game!

All jokes aside DDG won us 3 points today although we should of been out of sight in the 1st half.

Chris I can certainly 'take it' when we get beat which is why I enjoy 'giving it' when the likes of yourselves and our noisy neighbours allow us amusement on a monumental scale (you last season under Moyes and them believing they'd won the League 4 games before the end).
To be fair you have to admit that you scraped 3 points today thanks to your keeper who pulled off the save of the season at the end. And don't forget that Baines penalty miss was also down to an excellent save from him too.
We will recover shortly once the injury situation resolves itself - today we were missing Barkley, Mirallas, McCarthy and Coleman, 3 players who would walk into your side (but who are NOT for sale)!
You've now played one of last season's big boys for the first time. Let's see how you do in the next two months against the others. Oh and you've still got to come to Goodison.

Pi$$ poor yet again

Our slow descend into becoming Wigan is coming on a treat. Well done Roberto. At least he has a nice big mural on the ground for his 'achievements' here. At least it got his smug expression down to a tee. Take that down for christs sake. It's embarassing.

Spending £28 million on a donkey with a first touch like a baby elephant is laughable.

Howard has always been poor, now he's just mediocre and needs replacing. Pity Joel is even worse.

'Messis shadow' is terrible and god knows why we gave Gareth 'running through treacle' Barry a 3 year contract. At least we have James 'Headless Chicken' McCarthy to come back in.

Crap keeper, can't defend, midfield is dire and we are awful up front.

Without sounding too doom and gloom, I feel as if Martinez has lost the plot. We haven't changed anything since preseason, we are still making the same mistakes, and we are still picking up stupid injuries. I'm not superstitious but putting that Martinez mural up after one season has come back to bite us. I like the guy but I don't like how we are playing. We can't defend and for a team that likes to keep possession, we can't pass a ball. Oh and we aren't scoring enough to compensate for our dreadful errors at the back. Every team knows how to beat us - press our back line and force us into mistakes. If martinez doesn't change something about our game now, it'll never happen. As I said I like the guy but he needs to go back to the drawing board. Mistakes haven't been ironed out, we keep doing the same stupid things and guess what? We are paying the price. I'm actually glad that there's an international break because it's two weeks before I have to suffer watching the Everton that I love, play so poorly. Something's got to give, surely? Oh well have a nice night everyone. Not looking forward to being taunted by the reds over the next two weeks.

We obviously miss players but god, browning should of started, like I said, lukaku kept running out wide, mcgeadys dreadful, howard needs to go, i'd start joel vs villa, in january can we try and get david marshall or a proper keeper, howards just not good enough, jagielkas awful, barry, besic, stones, coleman and naismith are the only ones doing anything this season, 2-1 down so he brings on a midfielder, a right back and a left back but leaves eto on the bench, if we lose 2 of our next 5 games then its time for change, HE is becoming like moyes and is all out of ideas, whether we like it or not, we are in a relegation scrap, the school of science is dead, he's a one season wonder

Can't believe we get nothing out of that game but if you miss a penalty and are faced with world class saves then what can you do. What I find hard to take is we have wait until we go 1 down or wait for the second half before we play. The Osman chance shows just how easy it was if you simply try and attack but as I said its only when we chase the game. Pray Stones is ok and hopefully the international break brings a few players back. We have had some tough games and hopefully we can climb the table to where we should be. Today I thought Stones, Besic and Naisy stood out. Love Lukaku but clearly not firing and although I was a fan, I have to wonder what exactly Mcgeady does. We should have had a point today no doubt but we have to start games on the front foot. let's not get on Roberto's back as we are Evertonians and you can see the toll Europa is taking but we know under Roberto we are in the best hands possible. COYB

That was a shocking first half. Second half was so much better. We should have received something out of this match and got nothing. Lukaku has been so far shocking. Is he a waste of 28 million. So far it looks like it. Stones getting injured right at the end looks really bad. He was immense. I'm worried. Now we have Coleman Barkley Mirallas McCarthy and possibly Stones all injured. Martinez why let Blind walk all over us in the first half. Why play so defensively against a team who's weakness is there defence. Instead we played to there strength in the first half and soaked up as much pressure as we could. I'm not getting it.

Beginning to get a bit concerned now. I know the fixture list hasn't been kind with games against Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool, but we should really be getting results against the lesser teams like today. OK, we were unlucky in the second half with their keeper having a stormer of a game, but how poor was Rom?! I really wanted to see Sammy Etoo on for him as I feel his experience could have clinched it. Just hope that young Stonsey's injury isn't a bad one. At least it should keep him off international duty.

Besic got his red card due to mistake from Mc Geady, who is rubbish. Pienaar is finished get him off the wage bill, Osman, I love you but your finished, lukaku is a total WASTE of £28m, Yes I`ll say it again, £28m. Roberto Martinez why would you make a double substitution 1-0 down with an admittedly aging but world class striker sitting on the bench, and you leave him there and bring on Osman and Browning. Leaves me scratching my head. Wake up Martinez, we are not Barcelona, We need to be worked to our strengths, unfortunately I think you are out of your depth, Moyes made sure we were hard to beat, you make sure we are hard to watch, (1 week great next week poor). I don`t want you to go but you must realise that what you are trying to instill is not possible without world class players.
I`m gutted to be in the bottom 3. Martinez talks positivity every interview and I`m sick of it. Let a "****" out of you every now and again and show, Us, the fans you are as passionate about Everton as we are, because I see you as a journeyman making your way back home, at our expense. Harsh??? you think? I`m waiting for all the flack from other posters and I`m happy with that we all have the same opportunity to air our opinions/views but we are worse this year than we were last year and we have spent £35mplus in the transfer window. FFS we haven`t spent that much money since EVER. Not happy. We`re struggling. Our defence is like the proverbial sieve. Yes we are missing a lot of 1st team players but it doesn`t explain the poor form of the other PROFESSIONALS.
Rant over, but still Fooked off.

erm! besic never got a red card and were not in the bottom 3, the second half today was much better than we have played in a while, any other day we would have scored with the great chances from osman (2) barry and oviedo. villa at home next hopefully with coleman and mcarthy back

Erm! sorry my error, yellow card for Besic and you didn`t understand my point, and your optimism is based on assumption and hope, whereas my pessimism is based on league position and team performance. As for not being I the bottom 3 why don`t you wait until todays fixtures are played out before making that statement. I`m afraid you`ve been suckered into believing the Martinez Bullshit.
Crap smells bad and Roberto`s breath stinks.

Starting to get worrying. We failed to add in necessary positions during the final days of the window. Now paying for it.

would love to see Lukaku and Eto'o start up front together with naisy just behind.

Think it's time for ossie and hibbo to hang up their boots. Great servants but done. Yes ossie had a decent shot today but what else has he done?

Just my thoughts.

Much better second half performance, but we have to stop making excuses, we are in serious trouble this season. We are making some terrible decisions at times, it took until we wr a goal down to start closing down Blind. We lack intensity at times and drive. a goal down with 15mins to play and we are calmly passing the ball around our back 4!! I doubt that I was the only one scratching my head when Eto'o didn't come on!! Lukaku is a bloody disgrace, poor positioning, poor effort, shocking touch(second touch is a tackle), 28 mil for a player who seems incapable of playing through the middle and was dominated by a kid playing his 2nd game!

Baines not playing well and just didn't look confident taking that pen. Left hand side wide open, and if it was possible Lukaku getting slower and slower. Europa league no good to us if we get bloody relegated. No passion just going through the motions.

Unbelievably poor so far, poor tactics and approach and attitude, giving United far too much space, Blind is running the game! Rom looks a shadow of last season, he's getting dominated by a kid in his second game and looks like a waste of money!!!
