Was it me or was that ref terrible today he lookedunfit and I felt he changed the game for them and took momentum out of the game at key stages!

Not a great performance but without Gibson, Barry and Pienaar we were always going to be too light in midfield. Who else could have played there? - Heitinga! No thanks. We need to manage our own expectations - we have had a relatively easy start but we will have an enjoyable season, with some ups and downs. A top six finish will be great. Joe

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah we've really missed Pienaar this season. Only yanking your chain, admit the other two we really do miss. Need at least one of them fit.

Why is everyone pelting naismith and osman, they wernt the worse, mirellas was crap today gave away possession for second goal, coleman wasnt at his best and neither was barkley, the spanish kid and gibson were also rubbish when they came on, be fair with your criticism.naismith and ozzie were ok in first half but dissappeared in second, the ref was shocking Silva shouldve had booking early on and couldve been sent off, also god knows why we didn't get a pen, and 9 bookings was ridiculous

Believable0 Unbelievable0

100% agree. The referee awarded a penalty to City that was the mirror image of the one he should have awarded to us in the 1st half. We were, admittedly, a little toothless in the 2nd half. They completely shut us down. Someone, somewhere, will somehow find a way to blame Moyes and / or Kenwright for this defeat.

I think in january jonny and jela need to go with a striker and winger coming in as pienaar tends to slow down play, naismith is a load of my arse and deulofeu is very unreliable I personally would go all out for ben arfa but it won't happen unfortunately just something more and a bit of pace and flair on the right aswell as the left is what we need, osman is crap and jelavic is done so another striker is also a must and jordan rhodes would be my choice but anything could happen but we undoubtedly need some more players

Mike-Ox Long

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How is Deulofeu unreliable?

He has yet to start a match in the Prem, but whenever he has played (as a sub in the Prem and as a starter in the cup) he has always looked dangerous, with the exception of today when, let's face it, no one in that second half looked any decent. Admittedly, he will occasionally over-run the ball towards the byline and lose it on the edge of the opposition's box once once or twice, but when he doesn't he always make a chance and is a pleasure to watch, especially when he beats his man and whips a wicked low ball across the goalkeeper/defenders for our attackers. Plus, he's 19, so you can't expect him to be 100% perfect - even when he's in his prime you can expect him to be 100% perfect.

I agree with most of your post, but I think you were smoking something very iffy when writing that part about Deulofeu.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Oct 2013 20:06:11
I was being harsh keith on deulofeu what I mean is once he makes a mistake he doesn't learn ye continues to do the exact same thing he is talented and a joy to watch but when he does too much once and barry or whoever is there tells him not to do too much deulofeu will not listen and continually do too much and it will end up costing us vital points, he needs to find what suits him and what suits the teams situation at the time not trying to take everyone on and losing the ball repeatedly when a pass to someone in a better position who can create a chance would be the better option, he needs to rely on his team mates and trust them rather than relying on being faster than all their team and giving it away.

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

'Plus, he's 19, so you can't expect him to be 100% perfect - even when he's in his prime you can expect him to be 100% perfect'.
Does this make him unreliable?
I'm not so sure that constitutes being unreliable but I think the point he was making was, you never know exactly what you're going to get with Deulofeu, he rarely tracks back, loses his man all to easily and plays for himself. He was anonymous today, misplaced several straightforward passes (but so did everyone else today), but he does have that moment of genius in him.
I'd say he's unpredictable more than unreliable, though he has both traits.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the 3rd replier hits the nail on the head. He is more unpredictable instead of reliable. I see where you're coming from Mike, but I guess it was just the way your post was worded, or perhaps the way I interpreted it. Either way, the 3rd replier sums it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Osman is crap" cause we lost! Getting boring now. That's why a lot of managers have picked him in there first eleven week in week out then?! They are football managers and we are football fans. Who would know better? I say get off his back. I could hand pick 5 or 6 players who were worse than him today. Joe 1878

06 Oct 2013 01:14:39
Not basing him being crap off todays performance as he has been poor for a while and he has only been in the starting 11 as gibbo was injured mccarthy only just joined and barry not allowed to play all our matches this season has had one of them scenarios in, grow up mate osman should be fifth choice now.

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

By the way joe.moyes, hodgson and bobby are the only managers to pick osman.i wouldn't say that's alot.but osman in 1st half was one of our better players

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say that's enough dentielad. The England manager, the now United manager and the new Everton manager! Like I say that's why we don't pick the team.Joe 1878

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Oct 2013 11:41:55
If gibbo was fully fit, barry could play and mccarthy had settled in completely osman would not have started, hodgson loves him so much he was put on the bench vs san marino or moldova when he got his second cap might I add he only has 2 caps so yep hodgson loves him, moyes chose neville over barkley, if you would agree with him on that too then well that is quite funny, as I said if we against newcastle had gibson fully fit osman would not have started why can people not see he isn't good enough anymore.

I'm still happy with the way we have started this season. Sure, poor result today, but away at the best team in the league, with arguably our most important (yes really) player in Gareth Barry ineligible, plus Pienaar and Gibson injured (I know he came on second half) and I think Mirallas unift too. Coupled with the fact there was a truly dreadful refereeing display wholly against us, and the way we played in the first half, and I don't think today was too bad, considering it was Yaya Toure vs Leon Osman. Overall, after a very brief relatively adjustment period, since then in the league we've beaten Chelsea, West Ham away, and Newcastle (3 games we got 4 points from last season, but 9 this) and we lost today. Sure, we need to start playing over 90 mins rather than 45, but that will come. I think Lukaku is still far from match fit, but considering that he's already got 4 in 3.5 games, I can't wait till he is. So let's stay positive, and use a helpful international break to get Pienaar, Mirallas, Gibson back fit, and we can smash Hull at home with the team today but with Barry/Gibson for Osman and Pienaar for Naismith. (Also, one more positive, I thought McCarthy was by far our best player today, and was great in midweek too). Onwards and upwards COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im with you on this AJ let's face it we have started well with a lot of new faces and teh boys need time to settle into playing the RM way. If we are still struggling with inconsistency in December then we may have something to worry about, but at the moment I am quite pleased with the majority of the changes RM has made to the team. better team in the first half but outplayed by the better team second half, ref didn't help either, he was useless, we move on. coyb

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What was so disappointing bout the second half was how much space we gave them say what u like about moyes but he knew how to set up to beat city when he was at everton they wouldn't have got an inch but this is robertos way and he will not change

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all well and good saying that under moyes we would have won today. But under moyes we would not have beaten Chelsea, would have drawn against Newcastle and probably would have accepted a draw against West Ham.

Under bobby we will win the games that last season we would have bottled.

Don't think Naismith and osman should be starters it's like playing with 9 men we carry the
And we can't afford to do that on the other hand thought mcarthy had a really good game looks a Decent midfielder.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have been saying this about ossie for 2 years. this can not go on any longer .naismiths inclusion baffels me

Agree0 Disagree0

Osman has experience and with the options we have available not much choice ( gibson is not match fit) and pritty much the same with nay, he just runs kuit like. not much esle we can put out delo is not ready imo gibbo not fit so who would you play?

Ive defended Naismith for too long, I was all for giving him another season to prove himself but sorry he wouldn't get in any other top ten team, he should be on the bench at best

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Oct 2013 14:52:55
sorry!. but Naismith should never wear a everton shirt again, bog standard league 2 player.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Done better than mirallas today, wasteful in possession when it was an easy pass

Agree0 Disagree0

To all out there please tell me what osman and naismith bring to the table.osman is so out of his depth come on RM let's get a bit of pace and energy into our team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive defended naismith but no more not up to premiership afraid the same aplies to osman would have liked to have seen abold step like lunsdrum don't know if he's on loan but some one on them lines who opposition don't know there game inside out, don't know what oviodo as to do to get agame with injuriesand barry not aloud to play ref was baised was 1 crumb tom efc

looked flat agian in the second half. we clearly needed a dif approach, I dnt understand why we take lakaku off and bring kone on, we were not effective through the mid in second half so we should brought kone for barkly (played well) 2 up top and used wings. we need to be able to use a dif approach when thing aren't working.

on anouther note ref was not good today I dnt think their pen was a pen, and if it was then lakaku should have certainly had one for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree they could have won by more, would just like to see us change approach when things aren't working as in second half. in first half we done well, we need to show more in the second half of games

Agree0 Disagree0

Ref ws totally sh*te - an since when does a goaly or any ther player basically get to barge through another stationary player for a corner - like Hart did to barkley - that's a definite pen - and silva had at least 3 bookings! ridiculous

niceone ref - ust give the ganme to city - of course the ref decsions wil get hardly any airing on match of the day whwereas if it had been unitedit would be all they talked abot

Beaten by a much better side today no need for doom & gloom, as we play more teams each week the league will settle down and teams will be were there quality dictates and the blues will be between 5th & 8th

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Between 5th and 8th aim high why don't u nooot!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why? Do you think we WILL finish higher than 5th?
We all want to finish 1st but that doesn't mean we will and after what I have just watched I think we will do very well to finish 5th with this squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Aim high always aim high negativity is a killer u don't see spurs r liverpool fans saying they'll finish 5th champions league should always be the aim

Agree0 Disagree0

Finishing 1st should be the only target at the start of the season and I wouldn't except anything less from the manager or the players but that said I also know enough about football and great Everton sides after following the blues home and away since 1981 to know for a fact we will not win the league this season

poor games by Osman and Naismith - but the whole game has been decided by the referee - who has been appalling - why do we not surround him and complain at these awful game changing decisions? :(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree that the ref was bad but as you say to many below power performances osman not consistent enough naismith give up he gave no protection 2 coleman at all and he was poor

Agree0 Disagree0

They were all very poor, aside from McCarthy. Mirallas, Osman, Barkley, Lukaku (goal excepted), were diabolical. Naismith, what is there left to say about him, pathetic. How he's a footballer i'll never know. Jags doesn't look very comfortable either and can play much better.
The referee didn't help either, Silva should have seen at least 3 yellows, Milner maybe sent off, we should've had a nailed on penalty, theirs was a bit soft.
All in all, we didn't deserve anything, very poor second half, but with a bit of luck could've left with a point.
Still early days though, hope we don't have many more days like that, too many soft goals conceded.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really think jags is struggling with this style of play

So Lukaku's agent reveals there is no chance he can leave Everton until the end of season no matter who is intrested so that is good news.Further more he also said that he wanted to join Everton and that he has 2 years left on his contract so that will mean he has 1 left in the summer I don't think Jose mourino want's him so with 1 year left on his contract in the summer surely we have chance of getting him permanently after all mirallas said he is trying to convince him stay beyond next season so it will be an intresting one.

I've always liked 'the mad chelski manager' if for nothing else other than when he said he'd never manage the red side, however his latest comments are from a man clutching at straws and smacks of the desperation of someone who realises they made a massive error in letting the beast out on loan. but he is trying to cover it up with back peddling, metaphors and analogies, does he not realise that we all see through him by now! Look at whet he's left with,!

Ba, 2 dodgy knees, and doesn't even make the team bus these days.

Torres, runs around like a headless chicken trying to find the form he left back on Merseyside, someone should tell him he's looking in the wrong place.

Eto, was an absolute legend, but he signed for Angi a couple of years ago for money and money alone, when he could still have made massive money but signed for a top European club, (and left when the money ran out too)

These 3 do not play for the jersey, the fans or the players next to them, they play for the huge pay check.

Now I've nothing against players making as much money as they can, but don't ever compare Playing and scoring for Everton to Chelski, we back our players and team no matter what, we cheer from start to finish, we've never had to 'buy' our success. Lukaku has the chance to become an immortalised legend at Goodison,! everyone who puts on that blue knows what it means and it shows!

So jose be quiet, you messed up, you let the one striker who wanted to actually play for you go, and he is now appreciated and adored more than he ever will be in his entire career, I personally feel that letting Lukaku go on loan wasn't your biggest mistake, letting him come to Goodison was! because once the blue toffee blood touches you, there is nothing else like it and there is no way back!
