The reason the Spurs keeper did not go off --he was feigning the extent of the injury--it almost backfired on him--as soon as he realised the medics wanted him off the pitch --a miraculous recovery followed

Perhaps we should build a shrine in his honour

That's a bit harsh!

A few posts saying Mirallas should be dropped/rested. I think I tend to agree. He is always quite poor defensively, but worth it when his forward play is good. Lately his forward play has deteriorated, so in my view he needs a rest. Barkley looked sharp when he came on as sub. There is room for Barkley and Osman at Mirallas' expense.

Quite frankly I am a bit ashamed about how we as fans have reacted, and reacted at the game on Sunday. Look Goodison and Evertonians are probably the best in the world at getting after a ref but on Sunday it was a bit peculiar and also it was a bit embarrassing that it seems to be the only reason 80% of fans seem to think we didn't win.
Look the Lukaku booking was a disgrace, I believe he missed the Soldado elbow and I don't understand why retrospective punishment is not being taken. However both penalty shouts for both teams were not penalties. He did not go over board with bookings, and he certainly did not give more or less free kicks to either team.
We have been and are on a good run of form. We didn't show up first half against Spurs, and Spurs did not punish us. It was the battle to get 2nd place and all both teams did was show that neither is ready to be in that position in the league.
Ross does need a rest, I would take him out of the equation all together for 2 weeks. He is the key man for us this season. But the season could be with a nice cup run 50 odd games. He can't play that many especially when he his world would have been turned upside down with the England call up. This is a young lad with enormous ability who through bad luck and now hard work has played very little football for a lad his age. Think of him as a 16 year old not a 19 year old. Keep him hungry, keep him fresh and keep him driven, you don't want him jaded for the derby, or for April and May when we may really need him.

Martinez has done fantastic. This is a brilliant start to a new regime, we as fans should be proud of where we are, what we are doing and where it could go. don't however blame a fairly average ref performance for what was a poor 1st half performance from us.

Stop trying to act like the bigger man Svenny. Every time I seem to read anything that you have written I find it Patronising
Plus even if we won the cup we would not play 50 odd games.

agree with micky, so he didn't do a bad job and we are overreacting were we 'just imagining it', he was atrocious and is a huge reason we didn't win, if ours was a pen then so was theirs well that should be the rule every game then, yenno just to keep it fair, he was poor, we were crap first half, i'm sure teams have played crap first half before and gone on to win before at some point in history, just face it the ref was poor

I think that is a pretty good post overall. I don't agree 100% with all the points, but most of it seems pretty accurate to me. Keep posting Svenny.

At the end of the day they train most days so they should be super fit and they get outrageous wages so they should play how many games they are told. My boss in work wouldn't say you looked tired have a rest and I'll pay you no chance it's a job at the end of the day so they should be ready whenever.

The bottom line for me is that we were poor first half. But good second half. Whereas Kevin Friend was poor in both halves.
Seven mate, it's all about opinions.

This is a banter page for the one thing we all have in common. Our love for the mighty blues

Toffee ace {Ed025's Note - very true ace..

I'm not saying the ref was good. I'm saying we did not win because we did not do enough to win. Very happy with the team and club at the moment but we did not shower ourselves in glory against spurs.

Seriously me patronising? Look up the definition mike and re read your response.

The ref set a very poor standard with the booking of Howard and then sustained that standard for the rest of the game.
He failed to manage the situation with the knocked out keeper to the point he endangered the keeper's life. The health and safety of players is ultimately the responsibility of the referee.

Im sure that person of a ref has said in the past he hates refereeing Everton if you look at it he booked howard and Kev M for descent (arguing with the linesmen) yet when any of there players did the same he did nowt how did he miss the challenges on coleman and jags there pen could of gone either way but ours was stone cold if that was the redrubbish at the kop or utd at the srtetford end he would of pointed at the spot straight away

Why has Jelavics form dipped, I know strikers have a bad run even the great ones, does any one believe he will be back to his best?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not with us. He'll find form at a new club for 6-12mths and then the same thing will happen

One of the Scottish Eds warned us about this when we signed him. He's had a great start at every club he's played at and then lost interest. I remember a Rangers fan coming on here and also warning us, saying Naismith was by far the better player and they were sad to see him go but not bothered about Jelavic at all.
Personally I think he's a decent player but he's not impressed me for ages now.

because he is absolute garbage who has nothing going for him and will never find form again

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

He is awful, should never wear the shirt again. Cut our loses move on for half a mill and be rid of him. Where has Vellios gone?
He came on with 20 minutes to go, he did not actually touch the ball, he ruined one counter attack making the wrong angled run. He is useless, class is permanent form is temporary this guy is not class simple as

Im normally all for supporting the players but I agree totally with this, I think Bobby knows the score and will move on whoever he thinks won't cut it.

I can't understand how you can be so good for a few months then total garbage, he must have a gift somewhere because he was simply awesome at one point, you can understand a player getting a lucky goal every now and again but he was consistent for the latter of the season, he has lost his confidence and what looks like his ability and i'm afraid to say it but he will not get it back at our club

In regards to the posts about jely and nay.

i dnt think jelly has lost it, there is a pattern, I think he is at his leathal best when he is playing his own game, for eg, when he came to us the team etc didn't have a plan to service him, when he came on against spurs and scored his first goal, he was always playing his game, in and around the box, every game after he was in and around the box, in loads of space every single time. last season, we found him droping off coming deep, going down the channels, that is not jelys way, he is a first time finisher, if you want him scoring then we have to play so he is always in or around the box and look for him. he is a natural finisher, not a dribbler. its almost like crossing for defoe he would never score!

How times have changed. Mirrallas got a yellow card at the weekend for arguing with the linesman.
In 88/89 we played West Brom in the FA cup at their place (trying to be topical here) and Trevor Steven was brought down in the box right in front of the travelling Blues. The linesman flagged for the offence but the ref waved play on.
Que Kevin Sheedy who went over to the ref and physically dragged him over to the linesman. Penalty given, put home by Trevor Steven and on we went to the next round.
I know it's a long time ago but the rules haven't changed that much; or were we just able to get away with more because we were on of the big 4 at that time?
