Hey lads just wandering what your top 5 signing would be for next season (realistic of course)
For me it would be:

1) Bony (good goals return this season and possibly even better in a bigger team like Everton as aposed to Swansea)

2) Remy (same as bony)

3) Caulker ( been the best player (imo) this season in a poor Cardiff team, good defender and young)

4) Diame (strong, powerful defensive midfielder not to old either)

5) Barry (well enough said really, been brilliant this season one or two year deal perhaps)

What are your guys opinions?

Barry, bony, diame, colback and deulofeu

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 00:41:34
Be happy if we signed 1, 4 and 5. Bony has to be priority, barry I feel will sign and probably has already been approached with the subject and diame is a steal at 3.5 mill. Other players i'd be happy to look abroad for, a keeper to seriously compete with howard, a winger to replace pienaar who I believe is homesick and ready to return to s africa, and get one or two of deloufeu, tello, or pedro from barca or morata from real madrid on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

1-yes
2-no
3-no
4-yes
5-no not if we get 4.
Like Colback looks a young Barry with better engine.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want bony although I think he is a good player we can't afford to spend 15-20m on a player and have him go off to the AFCON every 2 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 17:47:45
Anybody know when our new kit is released?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would have thought it would be this week, so that one of the kits could be worn next week against Hull.
Thereagain if they're still desperately trying to flog the half and half away shirts, we'll probably turn out in a Nike shirt for the last time.

Don't care anybody thinks but if England are to stand any chance in the World Cup they need to drop Gerrard and put Barkley in there he would be the engine England need in midfield but we all know that's not going to happen but anyway hope he gets a good run out in the World Cup.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - England don't stand any chance stef, ..

England won't win a game in the world cup

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as a blue as I am, drip Gerrard for Barkley? Silliest statement I've heard in years. Firstly two completely different players, secondly, Gerrard (as much as I hate him) is our best midfielder for ability and quality although admittedly his legs are not what they used to be. He can spot passes like no other player can, he's a leader, a driving force and an organiser. Barkley AT THE MINUTE is a headless chicken with masses of potential who needs guidance and nurturing to bring out the brilliance he shows in flashes on a regular basis but even when ghis is acheived I find it hard to see how you would compare the two to be honest.?

Agree0 Disagree0

I sincerely hope Ross goes on to have a great career but at the same time hope he doesn't shine too much in Brazil.
If he does then I can see us getting silly offers for him that we may not be able to turn down.
As far as England's prospects go, I predict we'll do our usual scrape through to the knockout stages (probably on goal difference) then get knocked out in the next game with some controversial decision going against us (just for a change) with the whole of the English media (who will have slated a toothless England up until that point) making snide remarks about the opposition. Same old same old really but England have not had a good world cup since Italia 90 and even then we were plucky rather than good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Typical blues fan
Barkley deserves to be in the XI but as an attacking midfielder
Are you really that naive to suggest Gerrard
should be dropped in his best spell in five years and play a guy in the DM role who likes vto go forward qt every opportunity

Agree0 Disagree0

Gerrard is well past his sell by date I don't rate that lad at all I would not even put him the squad if it was down to me that is my opinion and I'm entitled to it he is overrated.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 18:11:20
Need to play both gerrard and ross in the same team to show our ambition. Hart has to start in goal, rb johnson, cb cahill and jags, lb baines, 3 mids of gerrard, barkley and henderson, front 3 of sturridge, rooney and sterling. That would be my starting team. Gerrard has been great for liverpol this season as a deep lying playmaker and dm, henderson has been their james mccarthy, and sterling/sturridge understanding in a front 3 has been great this season, particularly on the counterattack which is the way england need to play in the world cup. Plenty of pace guile and engines in that team to cause damage.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfair to say typical blues fan, not sure many including myself would actually agree with that I'd play Gerrard as as much as I hate to say it he is class, and a great leader. My england team would be
Hart
Walker Cahill jageilka Baines
Gerrard Henderson(maybe?)
Sterling Rooney lallana
Sturridge

Agree0 Disagree0

Reet2107liverpool. you should read some of the banter on your own site before saying things like "typical blues fan". (by the way Blues is with a capital B when you are on our site).
If you read the other posts you will see that others are saying Gerrard and Barkley are completely different players. If I was manager, I would defo play Gerrard in the holding slot and take Barkley as a squad player. I would also take Sterling and Sturrige and John Stones. I would use this World Cup as a platform using as many kids as I could. Planning for the next one. Our old guard of players have already proved they cannot win, so start blooding the kids even if we get hammered. One or two older heads such as Gerrard and even maybe Barry after the season he has had. I would also defo leave out Lampard and Cole. both who now struggle to get a game. I would take a couple of the Southampton players. Like I say. don't tarnish us all with the same brush. The Premiership may still be won by you and it has nothing to do with us other than we beat Chelsea, drew one with you and stuffed Arsenal. If you win it, you win it fairly and squarely.with the 12 or so penalties you ended up with. lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross should have a great career. Just not at Everton. Or will he end up like that other £30 million star Jack Rodwell.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 19:52:30
Id play: GK-Hart RB-Flanagan CB-Cahill CB-Jagielka CB-Baines CDM-Gerrard CDM-Henderson RM-Lallana CAM-Barkley LM-Sterling ST-Sturridge, rooney must NOT play upfront with sturridge, it doesn't work and rooney is too fat and slow to play up front, johnson and walker are crap, flanagan is a good defender, tough between ox and sterling, sterling just about though, lallana is a definitely starter and lampard, carrick and *sigh* haha big tom cleverley must stay away from the team, i'd take cole, stones, huddlestone and davies too, my squad (23) would be: keepers-hart, foster and forster. Defenders-flanagan, richards, jagielka, cahill, stones, davies, baines and cole. Midfielders-gerrard, henderson, delph, huddlestone, lallana, oxlade chamberlain, sterling, barkley. Strikers-sturridge, rooney, carroll and ings, of course hodgson will be an person and pick same old boring players and same old boring tactics, I will be jeering on any everton players that go, not their countries though, my team to support will be costa rica, looking forward to next season, world cup is just something to watch while we wait

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 20:22:14
Or that 'new gerrard' conor coady, let's also not forget one time potential superstars jack robinson, nathan eccleston and ryan babel, all players ross should aspire not to be like

Agree0 Disagree0

No Gerrard needs to be in there and barkley is nothing like Gerrard 2 different players barkley needs to be playing in a three behind a striker and for that system to work those 3 need to be able to inter change, but I feel england need to get him in that team otherwise he will be wasted on england just like Rooney has been

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd go with;
GK-Hart RB-Johnson CB-Cahill CB-Jagielka LB-Baines CDM-Gerrard CDM-Henderson RM-Lallana CAM-Rooney LM-Sterling ST-Sturridge

Think Barkley and the Ox should be our two massive impact players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Team should be

Hart
Flannagan
Cahill
Stones
Shaw
Gerrard
Henderson
Wilshere
Sterling
Sturridge
Lallana

Johnson is terrible and shouldn't even go as a squad player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok I apologize for the 'typical BLUE' comment
You lot are not that bad
This would be my team
Hart
Johnson Cahill Jones Shaw
Henderson Gerrard
Oxlade Barkley Sterling
Sturridge
Although rooney will never have the cojones to play such a team
Shrek will definitely play and he will probably play Cole at LB Young on the wing

Agree0 Disagree0

Steff stop trying to wind up those loveable reds. You know they have no sense of humour, especially at the moment. "And Gerard's slipped. "

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic reply by Degsy. Respect.

Also, respect to Reet for having the gut's to apologise for a previous, somewhat unfair, post.

Respect all round.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha Davey no flies on you mate lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I see degsy has brought up the matter of penalties up again
Mate the more penalties you get mean that you are infiltrating the oppositions box again and again Apart from the penalty we got for the Sturridge dive all others were fair
And did you forget the four goals we scored against you and the 80+ goals we have scored this season bar penalties

Agree0 Disagree0

England should play the team for the next World Cup and give up on its one
Hart
Flanagan Stones Caulker Shaw
Henderson Baines
Sterling Barkley Lallana
Sturridge

With everything done, I know it won't happen but would anyone rest a couple of players? Like give mcgeady a start or browning or mcaleny, ledson? Someone like that? My team: joel coleman jagielka browning garbutt barry ledson mcgeady naismith gueye mcaleny, maybe too many youngsters but personally i'd give one or two a go

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - so would i mate..

Here is another one we agree on Swan. League position final so give a load of kids a game. taking it as serious as possible so they are not demoralised with a big defeat.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes this is an ideal game to play some of the youngsters but we must not get a hammering. I would also like to see the McGeady get a start just to see how he is progressing my team would be.
howard, coleman stones jags garbutt barry ledson mcgeady delboy barclay lukaku bench joel browning baines naismith mcalney mccarthy ossie looking to give browning and mcalney at least 20mins to see what they can do

Agree0 Disagree0

I would agree that for next Sunday. We will finish 5th whatever and this could be the chance to blood the youngsters into the first team. Obviously keep some of the seniors on the bench if Jelly legs starts to look tasty towards the end of the game but these youngsters deserve at least a run out at the weekend after warming the bench for the last few games.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree davey..

Tim has had a good season, even if he did not cover himself in glory yesterday, but to have some real competition, what about a bid for Marshall, from cardiff, know they av gone down, but he has been outstanding.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 May 2014 13:32:19
Hes a good solid keeper but slightly overrated if that makes sense, he is a decent player doing well at a crap team (adam at blackpool, parker (crap) at west ham etc), some people say if it wasnt for him they would of been relegated weeks ago, this may be true but he isn't innocent, he has messed up a few times whether its been a mistimed punch or him being too weak and letting a shot go in even after he gets a weak touch to it, he's good, nothing special like some think

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you talking about Swan. He has been excellent this season. And surely a keeper in a crap team doing well would mean he's better than a keeper in a good team. Doesn't it mean he has more to do?

All keepers make mistakes over the season, I remember Ian Write making our Nev look a right nugget on more than a few occasions. But no one here would dare call him overrated.

I'm not saying Marshall is better than Nev, but overrated. no way.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 15:58:59
Yes all keepers make mistakes, but the amount of easy shots have led to cardiff losing rather than drawing is quite high, again he is a good keeper, keeper of the season? No way, he will no doubt be bought by a prem team next season (likely be leicester) but he isn't THAT good, he may have more to do but they still concede more than they should, caulker is no pushover and medel isn't exactly scared of getting in the way of things so marshall shouldn't concede as much as he does, he isn't even scotlands first choice keeper for god sake, good keeper, not amazing

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 00:20:34
If we buy a keeper he needs to be agile, dominant, vocal, good at catching crosses (command his area), good shot stopper and not hesitate under pressure. All these points lead to a couple of keepers in mind who may be willing to leave their present clubs and join us (leaving the likes of neuer, cech, courtios and de gea as they likely would not leave their present respective clubs and are my choice of the best 4 keepers around at present) are either a youngster called ter stegen from borussia monchengladbach or fraser forster of celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 13:49:47
Ter stegen is going to barcelona, forster is good though, keylor mavas though, woah

Anyone have a take on the Steven Pienaar rumours?
(Some positive test?)

Who would take Duffy over Alcarez?

Ba to replace Lukaku?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im not aware of any...not sure...no way pedro..

04 May 2014 12:15:21
Ba won't be coming here mate

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 11:30:48
If you had the option would you give the uafa cup a miss next season and concentrate on the premier league or do you feel its a competition worth being in?
Personally I'd have liked an opt out option if as looked likely at one time you had beaten us to 4th as I see the uafa as more of a punishment than a prize now days.
I think for teams who have no real hopes of finishing top four its ok but for both Arsenal and Everton we will want to be competing again next season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - some see it as a negative G62, but for me its progress mate, pitting your wits against some of the bigger european sides will be good for the club i believe, and although it can have a detrimental effect on league form, it can also be a vehicle to bring in youngsters and players who have been injured or lost form, but we must improve the squad and have enough numbers to cope for it to work..

04 May 2014 12:17:42
I think we could have a good chance of winning the Europa Gunner buddy, champs league for the winner next season and with Bobbys style it suits us now, personally i'm looking forward to it mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree if its used to play youngsters etc its not a bad thing Ed025 but with the Thursday night kick offs it seems to be a big drain for little reward on the first team resources.
Maybe if they played it on Tuesdays in between the CL weeks it might become less of a drain or even a return to the home and away knock out format so less games but more excitement might help it overcome its ugly duckling image. If so I'll try it on myself

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - tuesdays would have been good G62, and even better the old knockout format, but it seems greed has taken over yet again mate..

Its a shame the powers of the game can't see past the euro in their coffers Ed, because long term more the more enjoable and popular comp the more money it will generate too.
I'm glad your looking forward to it Murpthman and I do like the idea of the winners getting a CL spot in fact I think the Rup should get a playoff place also .
I just hope it doesn't prevent you building on this fantastic first year under Martinez, the PL is a far better league with a very good Everton being in and around the top four that's for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 10:01:20
Watch now as the villa fans will get lots of love from our neighbours for the next few days. Then if city beat them they will turn back in the most bitter fans in the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too right Blueboy that brown nosing/cosying up to us stopped as soon as the game finished last night. Villa fans can expect the same as we did. Patronising bar stewards all of them and they call us bitter.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 09:11:24
Want does everyone think we need in the summer now 5th and europa league is guaranteed I think:
a long term Distin replacement (bruno indi)
2 deep midfielders (Barry and 1 other)
Delefoue or a replacement
2 strikers (lukaku and Traore)

With little to no outs apart from maybe alcaraz and piennar

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note

04 May 2014 09:56:02
A good 2nd keeper!

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt we will see Alcaraz leaving RM seems to rate him, i'm still on the fence about him to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 12:19:31
Is it me or does Distin seem to be getting better, he isn't even slowing down and he is 65 next year, what a true pro and a proper nice guy

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 09:05:19
so we were beaten by the best team in the league 3 2, how can people say we didn't go for it, some of the fans may not have wanted us to win fair enough, but I did and so did every one of the players, martinez made positive subs bringing jaggs off for an attacker. we have got one of the best teams in the league and a lot of very very good young players who will only get better, the future is bright for us coyb!

oh, and does anybody really give a flying jot what those deluded Norwegians think? because I dont

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 May 2014 08:25:17
Don't shoot me or down or anything
But got to say that you guys gave city a run for their money
And the fans of both clubs saying that evertonthrew the ggame away are deluded
Your players gave all they could (Though Martinez did use w tad defensive team)
It was actually the fans who were disappointing and then you ask why you are called bitters

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would like to know why do you expect the Everton supporters to be enthusiastic about a victory that would do nothing for our season and everything for yours? I got my first kit 40 years ago (still got it), went my first match in 1977 and in all that time have not had a single genuine complimentary comment from your lot. You take delight in our misery, rub our noses in your success and have never shown any support in our times of need. Enough said.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 07:32:44
Sorry if I upset certain supporters with this, but I fully back Swan's comments on last night's game. I said before the game that I wanted to concede the match; not because I wanted to see us lose, not because I wanted to see City win, but because I didn't want to hand the red rubbish the incentive again after they blew it against Chelsea.
Before kick off other results transpired our way meaning 5th was guaranteed. Yes 4th was still technically possible, but I don't see Arsenal dropping points in their last two games so realistically 5th was where we were destined to finish; which is terrific in Roberto's first season.
I'm happy if the red and some Evertonians call me bitter. Yes I'm of an age when I all too clearly remember their taunting gloats as a kid in the 60s and 70s. Their smug, patronising comments when we struggled and they were successful. So yes I do care about their position next week and for them to finish as champions doesn't bear thinking about. Last night was only one game out of 38 and for the first time I didn't stand to celebrate Everton's goals any more than I didn't City's either.
By the way I'm a Palace fan tommorrow night. How many Evertonians will then be saying that don't care about the result at Selhurst Park? Thought not. We'll be rooting for you Eagles. COYB next weekend at Hull though. Normal service resumed!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Here here, my sentiments exactly. Call me what you want but after the tottenham and United results I was made up city beat us. Yes I'm bitter but I 'm also completely comfortable with it. I sleep easy at night nowing how much I dislike the reds and how utterly elated I am that City beat us. If we needed the points for 5th then my opinion would of been different but we never and Arsenal WILL NOT lose any of their last two they will almost certainly win both so all those saying "you never know" can kiss my hoop because we all know it's not going to happen. Don't let the red side brain wash you into thinking we're doing it for ourselves. Arsenal will win today and or next sunday and we'd be looking at 5th anyway and Liverpool probAbly champions. I'm happy with where we are and what's happened. On to next season. COYBB signed off a very bitter but happy Evertonian and one who is at one with himeslf :)))

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with your sentiments however once I was in the game my blueblood came out and I wanted us to win, for one reason only, I hate seeing us lose. So while I eco your sentiments I find it unbelievable you said you didn't cheer when we scored! Its not often we get to see goals of the quality Barkley provided, and you say you didn't get up and cheer that?! You need to see a Doctor mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - listen guys, i think this subject has been done to death now, its time to talk about everton in a positive way now, if you still want your two penneth, post concerning yesterdays game will be on "other everton posts" page...cheers..

04 May 2014 06:53:21
I listen to most days and all I hear that Adrien Durham do is slag Everton off for having loan signings and that next season we are going to be a poor team without them, yesterday we had no G Barry, Lukaku didn't do a hell of a lot and Deulofeu only came on late in the game, I'd say Martinez has got us playing well enough to be in a similar position next season without them, Adrien Durham must think the game stands still and that we won't bring in any new permanent/loan signings again, a lot of pundits seem to have a grudge with us knocking on the door because we are not as financially equipped as the likes of Chelsea/City, last season 'they' were 7th but no one says a word the position there in now, no team has a divine right!
Forget the World Cup I'm already looking forward to next season so come on Bill get out your cheque book and get some deals done before the World Cup premiums start, onwards and upwards for next season IMWT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What the persons in the press don't seem to get is that the loan system will still be available next season so how do they know RM won't get even better players on loan next season given that we can offer European football albeit not Champs league Barry I likely to be here, Deloufeu is reported to be coming back so of the loan players only Lukaku is probably not going to be lining up at Goodison next year so I predict another season of good progress with Arsenal fans looking over their shoulders with a great deal of concern. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2014 01:16:10
Okay so we threw the game playing against the best team in the league and for much of the game were the better side. Yeah right, get over yourselves, you blew it, get over it!. It's not Everton's job to win you the title, you could have effectively done that against Chelsea but you choked and were tactically outclassed. You had your chance and you blew it. Rant over!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 May 2014 00:39:44
Does anyone even care if the dark sides fans come on here saying we threw it so they never won the title we was always going to be there scapegoat. I will just remind all the fans of the dark side that a few seasons ago it was the last game of the season we had to win to stay in the pl I never came across one fan who said they wanted us to stay in so I for one am glad we never done them any favours and yes i'm a TRUE Everton fan with blue blood the day I was born I had a Everton Bibb placed on me and since that day 33 years ago I have had Everton home kits on my body ever since.

Hi Eds
On a positive note

We have shown that a good man manager, tactical nouse and belief in developing players has matched the top sides inthe country. A bench mark has now been set and expectation will be at an all new level.
New challenges now await us, but what excitement we have had.
I am proud to be a blue and thank roberto and his squad of players for making me believe again.
Good on you boys.
