Do any of the eds know anything about pur scout saying we're going to sign giroud? Seems to be a bit of a chatty cathy if you ask me. said who we're looking at when Walsh went over to Italy. Is his agent the same a lukaku?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - no mate girouds agent is manuello and roms is raiola, the italian scout who maid the claim about giroud monitors players foe keman abroad..

Sorry correction that's Turkish team Sivasspor (spelling) should have gone to spec savers

No matter what happens this season, even if we get relegated it is not going to be as embarrassing as rangers going out of Europe to part timers from Luxembourg. Hahaha.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - very harsh geoff..

04 Jul 2017 21:12:24
Probably true ed but hedging my bets in case it goes pear shaped for us. We all have awful results, ourselves included (shrewsbury fa cup to name one) but got to take them on the chin, take the pelters that come and move on. It's only a game after all. So many more important things than football.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right there geoff..

04 Jul 2017 20:28:24
I'm not concerned about top 4, top 6 debate. The simple fact is that with the signing we have made we are stronger than last season. The team will take time to gel and get used to each other.

Good thing come to those who wait. I've waited many years a couple more is no problem.

By the time we are in the new stadium, hopefully we won't be 15 points behind 6th but be challenging those teams. Then we will have every opportunity to become a top European side on a consistent basis.

As long as we keep moving forward together then it will come. Owner, manager, players and fans.

In a side note, carra must of been drunk 😉

Simply it's a great time time an Everton fan right now. COYB.

Sorry Preston mate, I'm 77 so can't wait too much longer. I have had the privilege of watching Everton running around Goodison as Champions and being at Wembley when the won the cup in 1966 and in 1995. I would like to see us win one more trophy SOON, while I am fit enough to travel to the UK.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 22:08:06
Defo a trophy soon, I'd expect us to be close to winning something. I just mean that I'm loving how the club didn't rush last summer (wasn't as happy then) and made thing right behind the scenes so we knew who we wanted and went and got them. Not trying to sign a 'marque' signing like city did with Robinho and wasting money. We are building solid foundations and I can see us being real quality and contenders for major honours consistently in the next few years (stadium should help) . I can certainly wait a tiny bit longer. I am jealous about you being there when we won the league. I'll keep dreaming until that day happens.

04 Jul 2017 16:45:23
hi ed what's your take on soft lad carragher, its a bit of a stupid thing to say after he said last season that pickford and keane would go straight into there team, and. only few months ago he was wearing our training gear at finch farm, looks like he likes making himself look like a dickhed.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its just a bit of friendly banter as i see it djr, i do similar on the liverpool site and i think people take it too serious at times mate..

04 Jul 2017 17:01:59
yer i get that, got a close red mate to me aswell we do the same ha but i still think he forgot what he said last season about pickford and keane, anyway enough of him ed, I've got a feeling there could be a twist with this lukaku deal maybe rooney involved coming to us what u think ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the same thing is being touted on the united pages djr, i think it will become clearer when one of the big stars gets transfered and it starts the domino effect mate..

04 Jul 2017 17:20:19
cheers ed yep agree there mate think we see major developments this week good times ay.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - definitely mate..

On a similar vein I think the signings Swansea are making might be getting cover in to let Gilfi move. As stated by ed I think when one big move happens it will snowball.

Hi lads Sunderland fan here. Look at your page a lot and I wish you all the best for next season I am impressed with your transfers so far (take care of pickford)

Was just wondering about the two young lads we are meant to be getting on loan from you and what they are like?

Cheers lads and good look next season.

Galloway is tremendous and I'm a bit gutted we have loaned him out as he could of covered Baines as for Browning the kid has potential and this loan will either make or break him I also feel I have to apologise on behalf of everyone at Everton Football Club for pulling your pants down over Mcgeady I have never seen such a lazy player in all my 38 years supporting the mighty blues I will do something magical once every 10 games the rest of the time you won't know he is playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 15:32:12
Cheers for the reply BLUEY79. I am quite excited about Galloway as I have seen abut of him and hopefully browning does well.

Mcgeady is a weird one the talk among most fans is happy as he did well at Preston so Grayson may get the best out of him.

To level it up you can happily take kone off us can't wait to see the back of him.

04 Jul 2017 15:56:03
its okay you can keep Kone we've just got rid of one thanks.

04 Jul 2017 14:16:02
ED002 There is a lot of talk especially here, that with our new signings, we will be a feasible threat to the top 6, and maybe the top 4 teams. What is your view on this? do you think it is a valid claim or are we still ( in your opinion) a number of signings short of that?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think it will be a tough ask to get in to the top four but the last couple of seasons have seen other sides bunching up around the EL places.}

04 Jul 2017 14:23:54
Thanks for the honest reply.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 14:55:24
Good post Grumpy. I agree it is a big ask. We are improving obviously.

Top 4? Isn't it tough for everyone?

I mean Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal. Can one of these categorically say they are definitely going to finish top 4 next season?

Imho no so why can't we finish in top 4? Arsenal didn't qualify for champions league in something like 21 years. The season before last Chelsea finished 9th and won the league last season. We all know about Leicester and we all know who used to recruit for them and is now at Everton.

Heard all the excuses before. The Chelsea team wouldn't play for Mourinho. Leicester was once in a lifetime thing. Fact is it happened.

My point is the top 4 is no done deal. We have as good a chance as any of getting into it. I generally try to be positive and honestly think we can compete at the very top.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 15:16:16
Top 4 is too big a dream for me whilst our signings get used to each other. I expect improvement but we're still short of being as good as the real big boys just now.

I personally would be exceptionally happy to copy Man Utd from last year, finish top 6, win the League Cup and Europa and sneak a Champions League spot that way. It would be a fantastic improvement imo.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Jul 2017 15:14:08
I think the first 5 or 6 games will shape our season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont know about that bluey, the side will probably get stronger as the season goes on and they learn about each others game, plus we have a very difficult start mate..

04 Jul 2017 15:59:33
My expectations have not been raised at all. The reality though is our core squad is now very very young and full of potential. Next season is way to soon, the season after probably is as well. I'm excited for the season after if we can keep Pickford, holgate, Kenny, Keane, gana, Davies, lookmam, Sandro and Lewis. That's a team that could play together for 10 seasons. If they get a trophy of any sort along the way it would be the first of many in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think with the players we already svenny that it could be sooner, if they gel quickly we can still do some damage this coming season but i get your point mate..

04 Jul 2017 16:01:13
We have a chance at the top 4 but think top 8 will be more realistic. Our squad is stronger so we should finish somewhere between 1 and 8 I reckon we will be 5th.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 18:47:27
I think that one of the key factors is going to be how quick we gel and if our new players can actually play along side each other.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats right grumpy..

04 Jul 2017 14:09:09
Well one has to be impressed. Player needs have been identified, the appropriate scouting has been done, contracts with the players representatives have been made, the players have been talked to and convinced to join, paper work has been done and signings have happened, all by the first week of the transfer window. This needs team effort and praise has to be given to Moshiri, Kenwright, Koeman, Walsh and the background and scouting staff for an outstanding and professional job.

Just noticed with the bookies. we are 5/6 to sign gylfi and spurs are 6/4 with swans 7/1 to keep him. massive change from an hour ago, where spurs were nowhere in the betting really and we were favourites with swans 11/8 to keep him. It's a massive change in an hour.

04 Jul 2017 13:07:44
Everyone seems to be very excited about the possibility of Sigurdsson. I think he's a wonderful player.

But I just can't see where he would fit into the team. Interested in others thoughts?

If we have a starting midfield 3 of Gana/ Morgan/ Klaasen with Ross and Davies as back up.

And then we have a front 3 of Yannick / Rom (or his replacement) / Sandro with Kev and Lookman as back up.

Where would Gylfi play? The only place I can see for him is front 3 instead of Bolasie/ Sandro. But surely we're not going to spend 40mil on him and stick him out wide out of position? That's 1 of the reasons it went so badly for him at Spurs.

I think attacking wise we need 1 more striker (2 if Rom goes) , and possibly 1 more winger (depending on Lookman's development) . Would prefer to spend money on players and play them in their best position, rather than just signing excellent players for the sake of it.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

04 Jul 2017 13:37:32
Who knows what Bolasie will be like when he gets back which will be 2018. We need a strong squad now and sigurdson for me would be one of the 1st on the sheet.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 13:41:57
Have to agree with you s_t I can't see where Sigurdsson would play either. For me he is best in the middle behind the striker which is where I am presuming Klaassen will be playing. I think RK and SW nay have decided that Sigurdsson would be too expensive and too hard to get so signed Klaassen as an option. A replacement for Rom if he is going is what we really need.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 13:42:28
Smit - but where on the teamsheet? Are you saying he would replace Bolasie and be our winger?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 14:53:51
Successful teams have strength in depth and that's what we need, Ross is not in Koemans plans going forward so count him out. A system which has Schneiderlein and Gana sitting in front of a back 3 of Holgate, Keane and Williams, then Baines and Coleman as wing backs with Klassen and Sigurdsson behind Sandro. You then have a strong defensive unit with creativity going forward.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 15:10:26
Koeman likes 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 with klassen, schneids and gana plus Baines and Coleman or Davies as wing backs. Sandro and siggurdson up front.
We should have plenty of goals with Sandro and siggurdson plus klassen linking up and the added defence of gana.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 15:15:47
That's a strong team bluegray and yes gylfi would fit perfectly in that formation. If that's the way RK wants to go then sign him up!

I'd worry about the lack of width but leave that up to RK.

Completely agree with your point on depth, but surely we wouldn't be buying sigurdsson for depth especially when we have just bought klaasen in his position.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 22:24:37
Coleman and Baines give you width as well as Sandro working the flanks something he done very well at Malaga and something we haven't seen from our striker since he has been here.
I like the look of that system myself and its flexible in a sense that you can revert to a flat back 4 if needs be and the holding players are also good footballers and not just yard dogs like McCarthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 12:51:48
Each to their opinion but I do not understand the fascination about bringing Rooney back. I'm not bitter against the player at all. we sold him when he was on the rise and got a decent price. but for me why buy a player on the decline. his pace has gone, he does not play with the same intensity. and if he's not good enough for a side that finished outside the top 4, why is he good enough for Everton who are trying to crash into that top 4.also does not fit the model I'm seeing. which is bringing average age down. Put all the sentiment aside . I don't think he's a player we need back. I'd hate to think we sacrificed some fresh blood and enthusiasm to bring Wayne back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Jul 2017 15:13:30
I know we're your coming from with Rooney but your signing him to attract other young good players, exactly like Manchester City when they came first got money.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - So you think Everton will sign Rooneyt in an attempt to attract other players?}

04 Jul 2017 17:23:59
I think the actions over last 3 weeks are enough to inspire any new recruit. never mind clubs new vision. don't need Rooney to recruit.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 12:30:56
Could you imagine the rubbish we'd have signed if roberto was still around? Pickford = al habsi. Keane=curtis davis. Klassen= jeff Hendricks. Sandro= el hamlody.

Kone - new contract. 😄.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Jul 2017 11:35:21
Ed, are we looking at any left backs? For me it's a position we really need to look at. Baines is obviously getting on and it doesn't appear that garbutt or Galloway can step up (based on their previous loans) . I know that Robinson is well liked so maybe between the 3 of them we have emergency cover I suppose.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think its a priority cropper but if one came up at the right price then im sure we would be interested mate..

04 Jul 2017 12:48:55

{Ed025's Note - thats news to me dazza mate..

I really can't wait for the new season to start. I've supported this great club of of ours for over 40 years now through bad times and good. I was one of the 8,000 in the crowd on new years eve 1983 when we dragged out a goalless draw with Coventry and booed the players off at full time.

Come the new year I worked away and abroad for the next 6 years and missed just about all of the glory years that followed in the mid to late 80's. I was in the far east with a US firm in 1985 and didn't even know we'd won the ECWC until a copy of the echo arrived by post in June, no sky sports, internet or emails back then.

Since then I've continued to work away and anti social hours and although I have made it to as many matches as I can I never bought a season ticket as I would have only made it to a handful of games.

I now however find myself in a position where I do have a season ticket for the very first time and am licking my lips in anticipation with all these major signings that are coming through the door.

I missed the glory days first time round but now some 30 years later am hoping they are coming back for good.

If Rooney comes back he has my support and he will give everything in a Everton shirt we were broke when he left the club simply had to sell so it worked out for both party's. But please blues if it happens let's forget the badge kissing remember the abuse he got that day was embarrassing from a Everton fans point of view and not only him his wife was was abused and slagged of that day as well the only reason I'm saying that is because a lot blues can't forgive him for that but I'm sure once he sticks one in the net for us all will be forgiven looking forward to seeing his name on a EFC shirt again hopefully. Just my opinion lads and we are all entitled to one coyb.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - your right about that stef and if he does pull on that famous blue shirt then its a clean slate for me mate..

04 Jul 2017 11:24:17
Fair play Ed I have a gut feeling something special is going to happen this season for us.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im super excited stef but i dont want to predict anything just yet mate, settling in can be a big factor as well as the gelling of all these new players into a team ethic...lets just try and enjoy the ride..

04 Jul 2017 10:40:08
Morning Blues. Long time reader, first time poster. Great transfer window so far and still business to be done. Just wanted to see how people would rate the business done by the club if the following happened.

In: Pickford, Klassen, Keane, Sandro, Onyekuru, Sigurrdson and Rooney

Out: Barkley, Lukaku, McGeady, McCarthey, Niasse

For me I would love Barkley and Rom to stay but think that one if not both will be going. Even if that happens I think with the signings we have made the squad is massively stronger than last season. Overall I would give this window 10/ 10 but would be interested in what your thoughts are and if you think any areas still need looking at?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - welcome stu, gylfi and giroud would be my preference mate as i think that sort of spine would be very strong..

Think i'm in the minority who don't want Rooney back. Bar the fact that he might be an influence for some of the younger players, i'm not sure what he offers going forward on the pitch. Resources could be used for someone younger with more drive.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont know about the minority hugo..

04 Jul 2017 10:43:39
I'd rather look at Dembele, Willian Jose, Lucas Perez, Bas Dost, Dolberg, Teodorczyk - all offer more than Rooney for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 10:59:07
Dembele n dolberg only 2 ahead of Rooney in that list for me Giroud I'm hoping for e. The influence on and off the field Rooney would bring would be unreal I believe. And a true leader

Anyway I trust whoever we bring in

I have changed my mind re signing Rooney, if he was going to be our only marquee signing no -but we now have 4 great young signings and possibly more in the pipeline . Rooney would be the icing on the cake for his experience and I'm sure he'll have a point to prove . bring it on!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

04 Jul 2017 09:38:40
Absolutely delighted with the transfers so far. All of them young which is also a bonus. I was thinking back to the days of Martinez when we signed Alcaraz and Kone. Come a long way since then. I am assuming that Rom will definitely leave and presumably Barkley. So Sigurdsson or someone of that ilk, and two new forwards. Mixed emotions on Rooney, his experience would be worth its weight in gold, but not sure if he will be good enough to start for us anymore. Plus a top notch star striker. Can't wait for the season to start.

I have been following this page for years, and I have loved the positivity coming out this summer . I really do hope these players gel and it the ground running . I really do think we are about to witness something special this season . We deserve it the years of hope and belief to be met with disappointment. I would count any cup as special and a top 4 . its good enough for Arsenal.
