alcaraz outstanding in the cup final and when I watched him when he played looked solid at worst. kone if we sign him got goals for a poor team. so can u imagine him in a team with the chances we create. give them a chance. because I think we will be pleasantly surprised.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too right m8. bobby not going to sign people if there no good. they must have something about them. its not like bobby is going to sell jags because he signed alcaraz. just good squad member. and kone may be brought in for more pace up front as we know jelly is a cracking finisher but not the fastest. but as we haven't signed them we will have to wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

Good points, was thinking that the other day, imagine, with the chances Jelavic fluffed last year, imagine if it was Kone, he would of been banging them in, especially as Baines was one of the most creative players. Shows how much we lack up front when we have the biggest chance creator in football and we has one of the lowest goals records last year in the prem!

Sick of people moaning about us signing Kone and Alcaraz. Kone had a pretty decent first season, better than Jela or Vic. Also do you not remember Alcaraz being absolutely solid against us in the FA Cup? We need heads to push for Champos.
Plus we have a pretty good record with Wigan signings. Baines.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Baines to stay

Kenwright Baines must stay.

So many posts falling out with each other over last few days, 'we should get him'. 'no he's cr*p' etc.
Lets just consider what's really important in life, It's sadly possibly never going to happen but with todays news of a new Maddy McCann investigation starting could you imagine her being found and as a 9 year old walking out at Wembley next May holding Jags hand as our mascot! I'm not a God Squad member but tonight at bo bo time I will ask me old fella and Bill Dean to have a word with their boss to see he gets that one sorted. If you know a blue Christian, Jew, Muslim or anyone, get them on the job please!
May your God go with you

Sorry Mush, I appreciate your sentiment, I think we all do, but you need the Conspiracy Talk site mate. Lots of iffy stuff where that case is concerned. Hundreds of kids have gone missing since Maddie, do you know their names? No? Thought not. Try googling the name Stephen Birch, not a bad place to start and don't believe everthing the TV tells you.

Ed, what happened my Kone post and kinnear mispronouncing his name. Could it be construed as racist? {Ed025's Note - it was borderline mate, and although i thought it was ok, some may have taken offence. so i took no chances..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And that unfortunately is how self censorship works in the modern era.
Not eds fault but we live in a scary world where everyone is frightened of saying the wrong thing in case they get sacked etc just like in old Soviet Union

Who'd take the chance thanks to the rules these wonderful politicians have put in place?

Who is really bothered about Southampton? Too many posts concerned about small clubs buying players for the sake of it and not the proper way, Martinez is looking for characters to suit his system and his ethos

There are too many people who think buying a load of players instantly makes them a top team, its a load of b*******, pop down the loftus road and see what they think of that philosophy.

Roberto will bring in players in due course, players that will improve Everton, and we WILL improve, some people need to decide what they want, lost count of the "we need an attacking manager" posts on here, yet we get one and people are on his back before a ball is even kicked, make your minds up.

Redmond has gone to Norwich, decent player but there is no proof we even wanted him, noone will complain when we go down to their place first game and turn them over.

Even if we don't, I pray noone turns on him after one game, Moyes was a saint to a lot of fans but there were numerous first day diabolical shows.

Have faith, signings will come in time, just you wait

ok not a rumour but for me RM has come out and said he wants about 4 players, GK, DEF, MID and CF. So if we are led to believe that Kone at nearly 30 and Alcaraz on a free come, then a back up Keeper, then the midfielder needs to be one hell of a good shout cause for me it represents a really disappointing summer lacking massively in ambition given the progress made over last few seasons. COME ON ROBERTO give us something to get buzzin about. Bluenose Will

All this we lost out on him, we can't afford that or this. Why not wait to see who we actually do sign, innocent until proven guilty. Why just because some random John is mentioned with our club and goes elsewhere do we jump to the conclusion we missed out? Give the club a break we will sign 2-5 players this summer let's just see who they are and more importantly how they play before we judge.

What has happened to Andy Holden?
Some posters reported that he'd left the club, but he's still listed among the coaching staff - alongside the Roberto Martinez appointees (ex-Wigan) officially announced today - on the club website.

I reckon Martinez should go for 'Demba ba' next if kone joins Newcastle. {Ed025's Note - not for me zacki..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Demba Ba is pure quality a million times better than Kone

Agree0 Disagree0

Demba Ba is an out and out goalscorer, nothing more, but the lad can finish like the best of em. Kone has a lot more to his game than Ba and would be a better fit for what Bobby probably wants.
The 2 of them together ( Ba on loan) with Kevwould be dynamite.

EVERYBODY CALM THE F*** DOWN! the transfer window has been open for 4 days, what's the hurry? Roberto has been in the job for only 4 days. he's only just sorted out his backroom staff. Not every club has to make rush signings straight away. Some little clubs (Man Utd and Tottenham) have also not signed any one

STOP PANICKING!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Because within 48 hours we're going to be the only club in the league not to have signed anybody that's why.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has NOT been in the job 4 days, officially yes but in reality he has been Everton manager for 4 weeks now

Agree0 Disagree0

The squad only reported back for training today, he needs to work with the lads on the training pitch before figuring out where needs strengthening and who to bring in

Agree0 Disagree0

He needs to work with the lads he must have 1000s of hours of footage to look at to know were we need strengthing, he's also played us 3 times last year so i'm guessing he's already got a good idea

While respecting Bill Kenrights position that he will listen to the fans regarding appointment of staff etc, and am sure he has the best interest at heart regards Everton FC! remember his career history is as an actor. Read into that what you will. Personally for a long time I saw Phil Neville as future manager and if had been appointed may have kept the back room staff together. Good for moral. would push for Neville as assistant manager now and appoint at next vacancy to manager.

You wonder whether this is an intentional ploy? It's always the same. End up selling Haines and Fellini last min and bring in s****.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

All of the names that have been flung around are merely speculation and interest, nothing concrete.

Martinez has only been in the job for 4 days, and didn't have much time before that as he was away at the Confederations Cup as a pundit (and potentially scouting a few players)

The transfer window has just opened so expect at least another 10+ names to be thrown around before August 31st and cut Martinez some slack.

Why is it Ed whenever other clubs go for players they have them signed up by the next day. yet whenever Everton go for a player it drags on for days/weeks. we love our club but they are so frustrating in the transfer market.
Toffeeman 1878 {Ed025's Note - it does seem that way mate, but with holidays, and a new manager who started this week, they do have an excuse..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As well as Martinez being a pundit for the Confederations Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

It happened with Moyes for 11 years what's the excuse there?

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason mostly is that we haven't got a pot to piss in so we are always trying to structure deals whee we are paying on the drip for players. We stump up the cash up front agree to the players wage demands we sign him. But as is Everton we are usually offering a pack of prawn cocktail and a curly whirly to be paid in 12 equal installments.

Agree0 Disagree0

Language barrier.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only time we do quick transfer business is when we sell players, lescott got billy heitingha distin,. had to wait to sell bily before getting jelovic. mirallas and Oviedo after the Rodwell deal. any deal that are board try to complete without selling first, we either get gazumped or the player fails a medical, fer, or we make phantom offers. we will do business when we sell Felliani. we have a piss poor board.

Fellaini heightinga Guaye Naismith

Major juggling to do to make his own
Mark on the squad any monies avaliable
Must go on a quality striker this is the most important positio on the pitch for

In midfield an then we have donkeys

Kone now in talks with Newcastle, I hope he goes there as I don't rate the guy, Martinez still browsing for a new (hopefully better) striker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree, a c/v of 1 goal in 40 games when playing in spain says all you need to know.

Agree0 Disagree0

IF he does go there then I think it's fair to assume we can't raise the funds for a £5m player. Martinez is obviously interested and has said that he would prove an asset to us and stopped just shy of confirming his signature. If he's undermined, after only being in the job a few days then I can't see him staying around too long.

im bemused by fans that get the hump when poeple have a go at the way the club is run. i'm behind RM all the way but for poeple to think we have a good business model are utter persons, we have finished to 6/7 last 10 seasons yet we don't even have the spending power of a stoke, were stuck in a poor kit deal that other clubs must laugh at, are badge was changed when 80% of even season ticket holders didn't even know it had been under discussion, our ground is on its last legs and we cuddent secure either new stadium or at least change them shoddy wooden seats.

From the team we had when moyes took over to now is night but why are we judas for not wanting to better ourselfs

I see a lot of people are put off by Kone being 30 this year. Becoming 30 doesn't make you a bad player over night. Do you think Manchester United were bothered that RVP was 29 when they paid £24 million for him? Will he become a bad player where turns 30 next month? No. Exactly.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes, but United don't have to worry about spending £5m, where as we do. We have very little money, with a very overage squad. You do the maths.

This ALCARAZ fella. Looking at his stats he is behind Jags and the big man. but ahead of Heitinga. So a replacement for him. But I hope he is not thinking of putting Dist at Left Back. But it is cover were we need it. He is a out and out CH, and I will concede that this could be a good signing. Just wish he would drop the KONE fella from his plans. we don't need him.

Has anyone noticed how all of the strikers that we buy always lose their scoring touch?. I mean, we bought Yakubu; started off great, and then after 1 or 2 seasons, he couldn't buy a goal!. same thing happened with Andy Johnson, James Beattie, Saha, and now Jelavic. I reckon a few changes in the coaching staff will do Jela and Big Vic a world of good.

Murf

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I said this, it is moyes. He destroys there confidence and playing one up front running the wings when they are poachers don't help, like I said van persie will need a good summer break as he is 30 and moyes will have him running the wings. He won't be the same player

Looks like all is going well as the B team at Goodison Park seem to producing many players, managers and coaches for the A team
I just hope the A team can let some more players come to the B team at Goodison, either their 'has beens' or future stars who they want training

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think neville likes the working relationship he has with moyes and we don't even know if RM offered him a post with us. So does that mean all the staff that went with moyes are traitors then? or should they just have waited to be sacked a sit on the dole as RM would not have wanted half of them?

Howard kendall believes Rooney will return to Everton. BUT wait for it after he has 1 more move elsewhere wtf he will be no good then he looks burnt out now. If he came back to us now he would feel like he was born again and have a burning desire to win back the fans. If he comes back to us after another move somewhere else all he will have is burnt out boots and will be no good to us where not a charity shop hiring pensioner's cause they finished there career and looking for something to do, ffs. rant over.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wonder what Rooneys wages will be in a few years? probably have to drop down to 200grand a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't wanty rooney back to be honest, not because he plays or left us for Manchester United either, don't think he has the child like desire he had when he left us, you rearly see him beat a man these days and when a striker starts moving position further back its for a reason.

to add to that he's on far too much wages and would cost around 25mil.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2013 09:38:02
Looks like Phil Neville has gone with Moyes, personally think that is a loss to our coaching staff and now only having the management team that relegated Wigan last year in charge of us doesn't fill me with confidence. I also think this could be a major factor in Baines going now Neville is there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Jul 2013 08:30:02
If we signed Kone from Lavente you'd all be happy butcause he was at Wigan you think he's s****. Same as Alcaraz if we signed him from Brugge everyone would be buzzing. Get a grip just because they were at Wigan doesn't make them crap.

Dan1

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd say it's more down to fact that Kone's 30 this year, and Alcaraz is already 30. there's just a feeling that we could be signing players that are younger, but are just as good, if not better than them two.

Murf

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand the age logic, last summer everyone was happy that we were resigning Pienaar for 5mil, and he was 30? Everyone was willing to spend 15mil+ on Negredo in January and he is only a year or 2 younger than Kone.

For me, age isn't a big issue, if he can deliver on the pitch and make us better, I am satisfied, if Kone can grab 15 goals this season, and possibly next season, then it will be 5mil well spent.

Besides, I still think Martinez was given a bit of cash from BK, and has decided to use that little amount on buffing the squad out, hence him saying he would like 1 signing per unit in the team, and players like Kone and Alcaraz certainly make our squad as a whole stronger (I still think Kone would be the best striker we have at the club). Then, with the inevitable departure of Fellaini, he uses that money to really buy the young, top quality players (10mil+) to make an impact on our starting XI.

That is the way I am thinking about it anyway. So judge the man after the window closes, because you may be shocked what may lie ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its more to do with 2 players costing 5 mil is the reason were after them, plain and simple

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think Kone is the player we need he's hardley prolific but neither are any of our strikers, plus why would a top prolific goal scorer come to everton? I think we shoul just back and support what ever Martinez does, let's face it were going to Finnish 6th / 7th because we simply don't have the money to compete with man city, arsenal, united, spurs an Chelsea!

ed's can you please reject posts that have 'are' in when talking about the club, it is 'our', it's terrible and annoying to read, makes our fans look stupid {Ed025's Note - get over it mate, its only spelling..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I resmble that remark. (Wvaertree Blue).

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed it may be spelling but we our talking about our club here so we should at least make the effort!:)

Agree0 Disagree0

1 thing are fans do know is how to spell ed lol

Agree0 Disagree0

If you look at some of the grammar used in other posts, 'our' and 'are' are nothing. a lot of people torkin lyk dis.

Agree0 Disagree0

What if someone has dyslexia? I know my comment may seem a bit over the top but your comments may put people off posting stuff. (Wavertree Blue)

Ironic springs to mind about your post you dope!

"Ed it may be spelling but we OUR talking about our club here so we should at least make the effort!:)"

It's 'are' not 'our' when we are talking about something. Some people make me laugh Ed. criticising people's spelling and then spelling something wrongly themselves. Sigh.

Al, I think you have that wrong. It's not the spelling that annoys me it's the text speak. Maybe the Ed's could cut that out?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, if you are that bothered about grammar you need a reality check, bigger things to worry about than a bloody english exam on here, sad sad person

Not suprised nobody seems to be interested in johnny H I hope we don't still have him next year, petrified every time he was in defence

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He was player of the year the season before - but he needs games to keep sharp - he would do well somewhere else where he was a first choice pick

Agree0 Disagree0

He was playing brilliant up until he got ripped to pieces in the euros last year since then he's been garbage, and I know what u mean about being terrified when he plays, every tackle he goes in for you think he's going to cut this player in half and get sent off.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know how he got player of the year season before, poeple just walked past him all season he can't defend at all.
moyes reluctancy to play youth cost us points last year because no matter how bad he played he was reluctant to play duffy
