West Ham tonight reminded me of how we played under Moyes. Disciplined and given 100%. Crowd behind the team.

I am not sure going back to Moyes is the way mate. I have enough dealing with the split over Brexit without adding to it with our fans and Moyes!

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 08:54:45
I'm in total agreement with degsyp here. Especially after the way in which Moyes left the club, it was a bitter pill to swallow shall we say. I haven't heard Paulo Fonseca being mentioned this time around yet. A lot of fans were raving about him. I think people wouldn't be so quick to call for Silva's head if they could see some progress. History is kind of repeating his usual trend here though. Kudos to the Eds, they did warn us.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 09:38:16
I’m still split on my thoughts to be honest. I still hoping Silva can turn it around. Man City and then Marco returning to Watford probably his worst nightmare. I can hear it now the Watford fans singing he’s getting sacked in the morning.
Moyes would bring back our identity, be organised and working together. Could he take us to the next level? Maybe this time with the finances.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 10:12:56
Moyes is a no from me.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and me mate, we need to go forward not backwards..

05 Feb 2019 11:05:51
Hi, I think still some of you guys torn between whether its the team or manager who is the reason for mess. I think even if its Silva or someone new he needs to make lots of changes and decisions to make. In transfer you can't have more failure than success. Whoever is in helm in summer needs to bring first team players and move some starting 11 to bench and sell some bench players.
P. S I am a Liverpool fan. Just wanted to tell what I am thinking. Not to be rude.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 12:18:54
Sensible points made stg I can't think who would have a problem or take offence.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 12:35:02
Well that font of all knowledge, shrinking violet Jim White says that no matter the results Moshri told him Silva is as safe as can be. Stability! Sort of, incentive! Depends how you look at, it! Personnelly I am astounded.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 13:00:17
I think if the supporters hadn't seen how we played so well in Novemeber there would be a bigger push for Silva to go.
We need to be patient with Silva and hope he can turn things round before the end of the season.
If he can't, then I will agree he has to go but let's at least give him the chance. Surely he has bought some time with the performances earlier in the season.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 13:04:48
Well if Jim White said it, it must be true. Perhaps the positive from that is a message to the players: “Don’t think your lack of effort can get you a new manager, it won’t. He’s here until the summer at least, now show us how good you think you are”

I live in hope.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 15:24:07
13 games left toffee, we may suddenly turn it around. Who knows! Silva has not gone past 6 months in the Prem so far and my opinion has been based on that pattern, which to be fair is the same with us now. City game I am not to confident but the Watford game may be the turn around. Fingers crossed.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 15:55:48
I sincerely hope so DFS.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 15:16:47
Ed25 so currently mate, what are we doing, going forward, backwards or stagnating.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately backwards DFS, i dont believe our players are that bad but they are not buying into the marco silva ethos mate, it looks like he will be here for quite a while so they need to step up or ship out..

05 Feb 2019 17:53:16
Mr Moshri said (apparently) to Mr Daz! That Silva was bringing the youth through, so have to ask, how come the likes of Benni are farmed out on loan (equal to if not better than Davis) . Does Silva listen to Unsy etc!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 18:17:01
Davis is a lot more versatile than Baningime and has more experience.
Maybe Silva feels Baningime needs some experience that is not just in the U23s. We are pretty well stocked in Baningimes position.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 19:05:52
Moyes is a backward step. He is a low budget manager who can't work with top players. He had the chance to prove himself at the biggest club in the world and fluffed it. Give Silva a chance and hope the board back him by rollocking the players and remind them who pays the wages. We are a joke as it is, let's not become a comedy series. If they do not feel pride when they wear our shirt then they are not worth having. I expect nothing but 100% effort from players for the full 90 + mins. If they lose they lose fighting, not because they don't like doing what the manager wants and they don't like it.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 19:34:25
It makes me laugh when people say Moyes failed at Utd.

Alex Ferguson is no mug, he knew he had an aging team and got out at the top, I would agree that in principle he did not achieve success there, but given the short time he was there, then yes I get that, but certainly did not get the time Mourinho got in trying to rebuild the team.

I would not have Moyes back, but He certainly stabilised our football club, which sadly has not been achieved since by any of the managers, taking over the realms at Everton.

One final note, he had the players fit and battling for 90 Mins, at least give the guy credit for that.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 20:26:32
Moyes finished 17th in his 1st season but was given another season to build a team.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 21:05:27
Moyes had 11 years an won nothing an the final he did take us to we sat back defended like we always did under moyes against a so called bigger clubs! He had his time at our club an does not deserve another chance. I can’t wait to see who Marco n Brands sign this summer.

04 Feb 2019 21:02:02
Well whatever the problems the first team are having it certainly is not effecting the U23s. Watched them tonight at Swansea, strong defence and quick in attack. Hornby is a big lad and has a lovely touch. And given that we have just loaned out a few youngsters, we still have a lot of talent there.
Silva could do with watching these boys, they might keep him in a job.

04 Feb 2019 22:33:53
Yes, but they know how to do it.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 00:12:10
Unsworth does not get the credit he deserves. Year in year out the U23's do very well. Regardless of how many have made it or will make it in the future Unsworth has them playing well as a team which is not what Silva is doing with the first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 09:45:05
Yea look at unsworth doing Silavas style of play better than silva, but sorry dave ya gunna have to go mate because Woburn knows business and your just an old boy we need young blood to take over your table topping team if wer ever gunna move forward.
See how ridiculous that sound when u put it on paper.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 09:58:27
Johny as I recall Unsworth was given a go and it didn't work. Managing the U23s is a little different to managing the first team. Bit like running a corner shop and then being asked to run Waitrose. It's to big a step for some.
And if you want to get personal, then yes I do know business, and in business you employ those who can do, not those who you think might be able to do. Otherwise you have no business.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 10:33:07
To be fair to Rhino Woburn he hardly had any time with the boys just over a month and you could see an improvement in his last game. His record in the PL over the period was P5 W2 D1 L2 and he had the haribo EL matches to contend with. Not so bad after all.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 10:54:12
Am not saying he should be 1st team coach am saying why should he go just because u want young blood even tho his job is to produce good youth players and he has consistently done that since he has been employed but u no business so what do I no ay.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 12:28:00
Sorry am I missing something here? Just what youth players have we produced? Oh yes Barkley. Who else?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 16:25:10
Woburn u waffle some garbage mate, Kenny? Dowell? Evans Beni Davies Williams Connelly Gordon Feeney con there are a lot of good youth players just cos the first team coach hasn't the balls to play them doesn't mean Unsworth is doing a poor job.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 19:21:36
As I recall they played in Euros and look how that turned out.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2019 19:47:54
Euros? Are u talking about when we played them in the europa league last year? The game we won 3 nil with feeney beni hornby and a few others played in? Wouldn't say they did badly.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 08:30:33
Unsworth consistently has the U23's doing well, does Mr Silva consult with Unsworth? Of course he does, and others. But the final decision is his, as is tactics, selection etc!

This season is now a right off, we have no trophies to compete for and Europe is a big ask with the way we are playing. The manager needs to try out different tactics with the personell at his disposal. Siggy is bang out of form so I would like to see Bernard played as a number 10 as he has the skill and industry to make things happen. Tosun deserves a run and can't be judged on Saturday as the support he had and service to him was none existent. The wingers need to attack fullbacks and stop playing backwards or sideways passes, Ricky and Lookman should be the starters until the seasons end. Its the managers job to fix the rut but he needs players willing to fight for the cause which I haven't seen lately, to me its as if he has lost the dressing room already.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2019 16:49:03
TOSUN: What is the point? Seriously what is his purpose? He can't run in behind. He can't hold up the ball. He has no creativity. He has no Arial threat. He can finish but our build up is too slow and we haven't got a David Silva to lick him out. He tries but forces nothing. He is slow, sluggish and has no acceleration at all. He is useless and pointless. Not his fault we bought him but we should only play him as a second striker to push Sig out. That is all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - yeah but do you rate him tit?.. :)

04 Feb 2019 19:36:20
He created the chance for Gomes’s goal by holding the ball up and neatly playing him in. Played well against Huddersfield too.

04 Feb 2019 16:45:04
I personally don't think Zouma and Keane are to blame as I think it's how Silva sets up the team. Silva has made us worse at set-pieces imo. His final marking is dreadful. We are lopsided with wingers and I personally wouldn't blame Richarlison. Sigurdson has to take fault for a non-existent no.10 role. But Silva should mix it up and go two up front imo. I don't know who's worse Walcott for being utter tripe or Silva for continuing to pick him. Coleman is not up to it and Kenny has shown some promise so may push him out of the squad all together (obviously I love Coleman as an evertonian but the truth is the truth) . Gueye is great but he has always made it a tight balancing act in midfield. Pickford just needs tougher competition. To be fair on Silva the lack of a proper striker is a huge hinderence and one not of his making. Individuals need to stop making silly fouls, that's on them. More passion needs to be shown and it is difficult to attribute blame so I'll blame the players and the staff, we need more fight and passion. We have no purpose in attack and I think the players need to take charge and be aggressive with intent in the final third. That is my take atm.

Why are you having a poll. Silva was a bad mistake but having been made, the board can't keep throwing money at it and now have to ride it out. I don't believe Silva can sort it, he obviously believes he can and if he does, I for one will be a happy bunny and be man enough to admit I was wrong.

04 Feb 2019 14:05:07
We can change the manager as much as we want the problem is we have manage to assemble a squad of mercenaries and or players who are simply not good enough!

Pickford - Needs to get the basics right

Colman - gone needs replacing

CB - all have a mistake in them

Midfield - the can all either tackle or pass none of them can do both, and they are so slow to react to transitional play

Wingers - grow a pair and beat a man with purpose

No 10 - split a defence or come up with something different, zero industry in front of goal

St - for crying out load put the ball in the back of the net!

All of the above are problem that aren’t going to be solved by sacking Silva

However he needs to sort his crap out ditch zonal marking and get some energy back in that team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - yeah but besides that.. :)

04 Feb 2019 15:54:40
It needs freshening up abit. There's not enough movement up front. i.e breaking away from defenders. I've said it before and I'll say it again. There is no one willing to give a mouthful out. We concede and the defence just turn and get ready for the play to start again. I'd give Feeney a go. Tell him to do what he does in the u23s, dish it out verbally, even if it is to a 30 million quid defender. Everything needs freshening us. It's getting down heartening and I'm hopeful for Wednesday but also nervous.

It's clear that the Manager and the experience coaching staff sets up a game plan, tactics before very game, that's their job, but if the players don't follow it out or make mistakes like give the ball away that results in Goal or doesn't or can't play the ball quick enough or they don't play with heart and tempo or certain player that cost 45milion go missing, then all this is the Mangers fault, no not for me, you would be changing Managers every 6 weeks at a astronomical cost to the club, when the players cross the line it's their job to win a game of football or compete in a competitive way. These multi millionaire footballers are signed to the club they play for club player for the supporters play for their team mates, their should be 11 leaders on the pitch
If you sack a good Manager you will only replace him with another one that has failed at some other club at some other time .
Silva has a job to do it will take more than one season to sort this squad out, the players are what they are, not really up to the level of other premiership players, but the Manager can't come out and say this because they are valuable assets of the club, we need to recoup back the money invested in them.
It's hard being a supporter but that's nothing new when your not blaming the Manager your blaming the Chairman or the vise Chairmman or the tea lady.
It can spoil my weekend when we don't win and likewise Silva and let's not forget Furguson!
Big Duncan has been second in command for the previous 5 mangers, coaches the first team every day sit next to Silva every game but I never any criticism lodged towards him only to the Managers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2019 09:10:15
Fergus on is not second in command and hasn't been at any point under the previous regimes, he is simply a coach, a coach who goes out ov his way to help player who want to do extra training, a coach who shows up at academy games of all age groups because he wants to know who is coming threw and also offers advice to all the kids in the academy. People blaming him need to realise he isn't Silavas choice therefore doesn't have a whole lot of responsibility, I think we need him to have a larger role at the club not just be a coach as he knows his football and loves this club.
Turning on Duncan is just making u sound like an idiot, why dnt u blame the other coaches? The ones silva has brought in? Oh yeah that's right because u dnt have a name for them so cnt abuse them. Duncan ferguson bleeds everton and is a well respected coach.

Reality time now boys and girls wer in a terrible run absolutely horrible and it's more than likely going to get worse before it gets better but it will get better eventually might not be this year but it will farhad isn't stupid he's not throwing money away its in his interests to make us successful and I have faith he will do just that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - THis demonstrates exactly the point I have been trying to make - the fans knowledge of the club seems worful - and the fans have now started on Ferguson because they know no better. Joao Pedro Sousa is the assistant first team coach - but I suppose no one cares.}

04 Feb 2019 09:47:10
exactly ed they know his face so he's an easy target. is it Fergusons fault we can defend set pieces or would that be the defensive coaches? is it fergusons fault the players don't look fit enough to press for 90 mins or is it Pedro Conceicaos? Coming from a academy coach i no ferguson is very well respected right throughout the club. Do u have a personal opinion of dunc as a coach ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really have no opinion at all of the coaches at Everton other than Silva.}

04 Feb 2019 10:28:11
OK Ed thanks for response I was just hoping with your contacts you would have heard if he is good coach or not but for me he needs more responsibility not less.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really would not want to get in to that. Many of the fans will trash all of the coaches they no absolutely nothing about at all.}

04 Feb 2019 12:08:16
Ferguson, worked hard at his badges, loves Everton and we love him. I too do not have an opinion on individual coaches, other than to say Silva did not do to well at his other two Premiership Clubs (my opinion) and is failing here after six months (appears to be a pattern rather than coincidence) . Did he bring the same coaches that were with him at the other two Prem Clubs, I wonder.

04 Feb 2019 11:36:32
So ed2. Something is not right at our club. Is it the owner, chairman, the manager or the coaching. I suppose the owner has ultimate responsibility. Even the most die hard Everton fan must be struggling to find positives atm. In your infinite wisdom should We sack the manager or give him time?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why are the Everton fans so obsessed with blaming someone. The fans previously, and from a position of ignorance, caused such grief with the board such that no information was forthcoming. I explained that at the time, to no avail. I have explained over and over again since Silva was appointed that Moshiri was given bad advice by a third party. I have repeatedly said that buying Mina was a mistake, buying all available left wingers was a mistake and no giving Tosun a run was a mistake - that is the fault of Brands and Silva. Nothing has really changed Geoff. For now, ride the season out, look at the youngsters, look at the funds that can be raised from selling and the funds that can be contributed from "winnings" etc. (but remember with a lot more money required for the new stadium now that may not be as much as you think) and then make an informed and sensible decision. No more knee jerk reactions, no more overpaying on the likes of Mina to placate the fans, perhaps regroup - we'll see.}

Uran if we missed your point what was your point mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 14:08:01

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

04 Feb 2019 15:41:32
Johnny read my post again I haven't criticised anyone in my post, my point is that it is not always the Managers fault and to keep changing the Manager would be a big mistake and above all a costly one to the club and the players are what they are and maybe don't appear to up to the required level to follow out his game plan or tactics along with them making school boy errors.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 16:09:43

04 Feb 2019 07:45:46
I don't get it, we keep having a go at Tom Davies but for me he's been our best player in the last 2 games, he gives us drive and positivity in midfield. He is the only one that tries to go forward but because of a lack of movement from Sigurdson and our two wingers, he loses the ball but if he had movement in front of him then he can play them balls through. Correct me if I'm wrong but I would play him instead of sig at cam and put Gomes and Gueye behind him when he's back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2019 09:11:36
Great shout mate, Tom gives his all and is effective going forward, he does get found out defensively but if he had them two behind him he wouldn't have that to worry about and could be a revelation for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 10:12:23
I'm all for giving Siggy a rest and trying Tom or Bernard as a 10.

we need to add some bite and steel to that team and i can only see that coming from Mcarthy, Mina and Kenny.
Once fit, either Mina or Jags needs to partner Zouma until the end of the season. Keane is proving just too fragile when things are not going well.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 12:10:57
Bernard at 10 over Siggy (out of form) and Davis (Davis does okay but Bernard more skill and distribution for me) .
