Lads I hope you can help me out, I am top of a fantasy football league with cash riding on it. And I have lukaku as my main striker and I heard he went off injured in the first half last night. Is he out for a long time or not.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - not a long time we hope raver, looks doubtful at the moment for stoke at the weekend, but should be back soon enough..good luck with your fantasy league contest mate..

04 Feb 2016 19:08:34
Looked more like bruising to his lower back. colocini came in hard with his knee to keep him quiet, out of refs sight. Tried the same on kone in the second half, should have gave him a kick up the arse.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i want you on the referees panel AB.. :)

04 Feb 2016 19:31:55
Gotta say, can't stand Kone, but last night apart from not being able to hit a Barn door, I thought he had a cracking game. Involved in a lot of good moves and their defenders couldn't cope with his turns, gave Collocini the run round.

04 Feb 2016 19:49:04
To be fair Andy Carroll could give collochini the run around he's up there with the worse defenders in the prem.

Bit harsh not on Kone but Collocini.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 20:16:29
Agree. Kone had a good second half. Think martinez has told them in the last few minutes clear the ball to row z. Think kone was the only one who listened.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 21:01:32
I am old School and think some of the stuff that goes on now a days is down right cowardly. Last night I thought that Luckies injury was just about a coming together but having watched the game today Colocini deliberately puts his knee into the small of Lukaku's back, a hopeless defender with spite.

Kone, has no pace, is not a prolific goalscorer, has a poor first touch, not strong enough, other than that he's okay .

Best passer of the ball last night: Robles.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2016 21:16:15
Absolutely spot on, his distribution is brilliant. Moment in the first half where he kicked it from his hands and started a counter attack, Howard would have held it for 2 minutes then rolled it out of the back. No coincidence we looked better in every way defensively with Joel.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 21:24:33
Not just because Howard wasn't in the team, we looked more comfortable at the back without an out of form Stones.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree spud it was back to basics for me mate, not very pretty but certainly effective..

05 Feb 2016 02:01:44
Don't wish him any harm, but think we should let tim's knee settle for a few weeks, no rushing back half fit. say middle April.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2016 13:07:50
No mid April would be too soon. No point rushing him back as you say. How bout June. Sounds good to me. So then if he decides to leave he'll be fully fit for his new team.

Sincerely I do hope him the best if he moves back to US this summer.

Another observation from last night sitting as I do in my seat in the Top Balcony, the state of the pitch! Looking a bit bare in places a lack of grass on it and the ball was bobbling a fair bit. Another new pitch this summer I guess?

04 Feb 2016 21:04:31
From your lofty position, how about an observation on the tactics, looked from Gladwys that either Jags had decided listen lads just get rid when needs must or Roberto has finally clicked.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 21:35:28
Im in top balcony aswell. Just felt the whole team felt better with robles there. Needs a good run of games to hopefully prove he can take the top spot next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2016 14:50:55
One thing, Jags n Coleman need to call more, twice they clashed into one another, on another day the ball coulda fallen the way of the attacker!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 16:26:47
What on earth is going on with Colemans crossing at the moment? Apart from one cut back to Lennon the rest of his crossing was woeful. Playing well and finding good runs and overlaps but the final ball is atrocious.

All players from the moyes brigade that have played under Martinez have had trouble performing to there highest level since bobby took over
1 howard
2 bainsy
3 mustard
4 distan
5 jags
6 Ossie
7 Gibbo
8 mirallas
9 naisy
Didn't ad stones and Barkley because they were just teens and still developing but there's probably more

Apart from stones and Barkley like I say I believe Martinez has had a negative effect on everyone else.

Agree1 Disagree2

04 Feb 2016 17:38:24
Or there just getting old?

Agree3 Disagree2

04 Feb 2016 17:42:58
Nothing to do with their age n fitness do ya think, nearly all of them mentioned have injury issues or age issues. No continuity with them.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 21:06:40
Jags and Distin were brilliant in Martinez's first season. Naismith was good all through and was awful when Moyes was here, Mirallas was injured in most of Moyes last season and quality last 2 seasons.

Howard is crap, Baines is finished and Osman is Osman.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you are very opinionated swan...in my book baines is still a very good player, naisy was good but was never used properly by either manager, and mirallas has under achieved since hes been here, osman has been a great servant but his legs are not up to starting a game now...does that make me opinionated?, probably but i dont ram it down peoples throats mate..

04 Feb 2016 21:20:12
How is that ramming it down people's throats? Naisy was not used properly except by Martinez, though admittedly rarely.

Made my point very clear when I've said Martinez doesn't have a clue how to use this squad, he did in his first season, for some reason, which should still be taken in to account. Or are we saying that season never happened and that everything has been awful since Martinez joined.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 21:38:04
Opinionated? Yes. Disrespectful? Almost definitely. The three players you have mentioned Swan have been good servants to EFC during their time with the club. They maybe coming to the end of their careers (Baines has a few years left in the tank imo) but they have all been important members of the squad. We treat our former players with the respect they deserve, not many clubs do the same, yet, if the next generation of fans are as blinkered, this will go out of the window. When these three decide to hang up their boots they should be welcom back to Goodison any time.
Spot on ed, for all the talent KM has, he has certainly under achieved with us. Hope the penny drops with him before it's too late. Naismith was probably too nice for his own good, never complained when out of the team, just a top pro in a world of prima- donnas. His first game for us, v Athens, he scored 3 goals playing as a striker. Moyes then played him wide until he left. RM never gave him a chance as a striker either.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good post that spud, i dont know whether its my age or not but lack of respect in general really irks me mate..i will get off my soap box now..

Last night I missed the first 2 mins of the match as always so I missed oumah niasse being introduced to the goodison faithful

Just watched it now and I don't think I have ever seen a player so happy to be here he run out with the biggest smile spread across his face done a little lap of honour around the centre circle and now I have watched the highlights every time the camera cut to a shot of him the smile was still there.

04 Feb 2016 14:09:31
Well pointed out howie I was going to say the same thing but couldn't be arsed proving him wrong again hahaha.

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 16:19:21
Not proving him wrong at all, as McCarthy does have limitations, just saying we seem to defend better with his protection and still made enough chances attack wise too. So an observation more than anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 16:33:16
It is proving him wrong howie because he said he thought we would lose if McCarthy played and said a couple of days ago he not good enough so on that basis alone he has been proved wrong.

04 Feb 2016 17:40:14
He allows Barkley the freedom to play further up the pitch.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 17:52:06
Totally agree with all comments here. Think Swan does 'cream himself' as he says, when people post after a comment of his.

I'm starting to think he doesn't care if what he say's is true or not. All he wants is a fuss and plenty of comments made after he makes one.

Enjoys the attention good or bad if you ask me.

04 Feb 2016 11:37:52
Joel Robles. Before ya jump on me, i'm not criticizing directly as I thought he did well in particular looking for quicker distribution and shouting direction and criticism at the defence. But he did have one straight forward catch to take which he decided to double punch, it didn't go far and put us under pressure. The man i'm aiming the direct critisism is Bergara, the Keeper coach, is it him that instills this punching idea when a catch would be far better option? Thought Oviedo was excellent and a much better defender than Baines, but Baines offers more going forward, which do we want right now? On last night i'd go with Oviedo. Lennon MOTM for me though Barkley a close second.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - most if not all keepers are advised to punch rather than catch howie, it seems the new thing with them..

04 Feb 2016 13:19:48
Silly really, always catch in my days. Do that and it breeds confidence in you and your defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 13:23:53
One other thing about keepers, is about the gloves they wear nowadays, how ya catch with them I haven't a clue. I never wore gloves for years, because I could feel the ball better. Only changed when my coach insisted I had to wear them. What I wore though were very thin, so I got some feel of the ball, but it was never as good as none.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 14:12:13
What sort of gloves you talking about Howie? I prefer going bare back myself also 😁.

Those of you that weren't there last night, that is the Everton supporters you can hear getting behind their Team, playing like a Moyes Team of old. If Roberto reads this stuff then Roberto that is all we ask, to see our Team actually defending a lead and fight. One other thing Roberto WTF do you see in Kone.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2016 14:35:32
The only thing is dunc when a looked at there players attitude they were no were near up for it and didn't really test our back four although I thought we dealt with what they had to throw at us quite well I would have been embarrassed being a Geordie last night not because I will have probably had the worse hair do in the country more that we're awful. I like mori my only problem is he needs to be a bit calmer at times he is a bit rash but the similarities between him and jags are so alike that I think he will improve 10 fold playing along side him.

It was a good result yesterday but an air of caution is needed. That was one of the worst performances I have seen from an away team in a long time. If it wasn't for their keeper having a worldy then it could have been 6-0 easily.

Saturday will be a real test and I would be far more convinced if we got a 1-0 win at Stoke than I am right now after last nights game. Don't get me wrong we played well but I'm just concerned that we were not at all tested.

Nevertheless it could be a springboard to go on a nice run. Let's hope. Consistent performances are what we now need.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2016 14:16:25
Yea Stoke will be a different opposition Toffee ace. It is the trend this season that we go out and annihilate a team and then the next game get beaten or an equalizer well into injury time.

Lets hope that trend is broken and we go on and have a strong finish to the season. More clean sheets would be very encouraging.

Can we all realize now that Barkley is class, everyone who supports Everton does put pressure on him, when lakaku went off he knew it was down to him and done well. Let's be happy we have him. He is world class just needs a bit of fine tuning I bet niasse can't wait to play in this team. Well done Robles the team looked very settled and seamed to know they had a good keeper there. As I said the March for top 6 must now go on this team with the players coming back is capable of wining the league the way it has gone this season. We won't to far behind but it shows how good we are yet are bad we have been as well.

ye team looked more solid last night Lennon mori and Oviedo all come in and took there chance well as well as joel.

04 Feb 2016 08:28:16
Dare I say it, a lot better without Howard, Stones and Baines. Robles, solid, Funes makes mistakes but we look more solid with him and Jags and the if in doubt put it out attitude. My worry though is that Mr Martinez will revert to his favourites and they will be straight in against Stoke. I haven't seen Del Boy play on the left but if he could with him and Lennon on the flanks we would be Phenomenal. Missed loads of chances again last night and for those watching at home believe me Kone looks far worse live. Onwards and upwards. New owners and Mourinho for season 2016-17.

Agree2 Disagree3

04 Feb 2016 09:43:46
I've said for two years that Barkley is going to be a great player.

Another post I done a couple of days ago I pointed out he isn't a tackler and anyone who has broken their leg in three places isn't going to give you that.

However, put him in between the lines up front and he will dominate. Quick feet, good touch, an eye for a defence splitting pass and confidence to turn and run at defences.

He's still a kid in footballing terms and learning his trade. Think how good he will be at 28/ 29. Hopefully we will see it at Everton.
