Why do you come on the site?

Just one answer

Your obsessed with Everton

EFCwhitesocks

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the irony of him claiming we are obsessed with Liverpool, yet he is on our site spiting complete crap

Sad seeing how LFC fans are so bitter now, they really cannot handle the fact that they are 2nd best in town.

You know what makes me laugh, the fact that LFC fans are getting on their owners beck for giving no investment, are you kidding me? They give Brenda 20-30mil which he spunked on Borini, Allen and a 5mil loan fee + 120k a week wages for Sahin.

If he used a bit of scouting, like Moyes continually done, they wouldn't be in this mess, I mean 1 Allen could have gotten him Pienaar, Naismith, Jelavic and Mirallas.

Complete joke that club is now, and to be honest, I couldn't care less as it was their own doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Red Sh!tes are deluded! Theres no point arguing with them because they live in their own little world (based somewhere in the 80's). They even think we are bitter! How can we be bitter of a team we finished above in the league? They think that we live in their shadow? However it is us that stands between them and the sun.
I for one love to visit the r/s page. I never post but do like to giggle at some of their fantasys! I also love to see them lose and hear their excuses. Working in an office full of them I do hear some belters!

The majority of Evertonians don't give a shi* about LFC and you get the obsessed reds as well which the eds delete most of the time.

Banter is defined as "the playful and friendly exchange of remarks in a good-humoured teasing way". On that basis, any comments about Liverpool's poor start to the season, their transfer dealings (or lack of them!), and their prospects this season and beyond are all fair game. Where I draw the line is the vicious hatred that some posters put forward - I'd rather put all of that energy & effort into supporting Everton through thick and thin.

a letter from bill to the fans...

I am as delighted as anyone connected with Everton Football Club that we were able to add further to our squad in this summer transfer window, it was through desire & effort on the part of all of those involved. They pushed hard in the transfer window on a number of targets and it is fortunate that on this occasion we were able to conclude acceptable deals to bring these targets in.

A summer window which brought in three young, but significantly talented starters in Steven Naismith, Kevin Mirallas and Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe as well as two exciting young potential stars of the future Matthew Kennedy and Ben McLaughlin could hardly be deemed a failure as we build for the future.

Nor should anyone minimise the importance of keeping our best players during this window. We successfully retained Leighton John Baines, Philip Nikodem Jagielka and Marouane Fellaini-Bakkioui. We greatly appreciate their faith and belief in the club. And we successfully negotiated new, long-term contracts with Philip and with Marouane.

No one should doubt my commitment to the club. In David Moyes we have a talented young manager and we have valued highly his judgement about the make-up of the squad. This is still a work in progress. It will take a little more time for Davey to instill his philosophy into the squad and build exactly what he needs for the long term.

The transfer policy was not about cutting costs. It was - and will be in the future - about getting maximum value for what is spent so that I can build quality and depth. I am an avowed proponent of UEFA's Financial Fair Play agenda that was this week reiterated by Mr Platini - something I heartily applaud. We must comply with Financial Fair Play guidelines that ensure spending is tied to income. I have been successful in improving the commercial side of the club and the monies generated going forward will give us greater spending power in the coming years.

We are still in the process of reversing the errors of previous regimes. It will not happen overnight. It has been compounded by our own mistakes in a difficult period of ownership. It has been a harsh education, but make no mistake, the club is healthier today than when I took over.

Spending is not merely about buying talent. Our ambitions do not lie in cementing a mid-table place with expensive, short-term quick fixes that will only contribute for a couple of years. Our emphasis is on developing our own players using the skills of an increasingly impressive coaching team. Much thought and investment already have gone into developing a self-sustaining pool of youngsters imbued in the club's traditions.

That ethos is to win. We will invest to succeed. But we will not mortgage the future with risky spending.

After a long period at Goodison, we are close to having the system we need in place. The transfer window may not have been perfect but we are not just looking at the next 16 weeks until we can buy again: we are looking at the next 16 years and beyond. These are the steps needed in restoring one of the world's great clubs to its proper status.

It will not be easy, it will not be perfect, but there is a clear vision at work.

We will build and grow from within, buy prudently and cleverly and never again waste resources on inflated transfer fees and unrealistic wages. We have no fear of spending and competing with the very best but we will not overpay for players.

We will never place this club in the precarious position that we found it in when we took over at Goodison. This club should never again run up debts that threaten its existence.

Most of all, we want to win. That ambition drives every decision. It is the Everton way. We can and will generate the revenues to achieve that aim. There will be short-term setbacks from time to time, but we believe we have the right people in place to bring more glory to Goodison.

Finally, I can say with authority that our ownership is not about profit. Contrary to popular opinion, owners rarely get involved in sports in order to generate cash. They generally get involved with a club in order to compete and work for the benefit of their club. It's often difficult. In our case we work every day in order to generate revenues to improve the club. We have only one driving ambition at Everton and that is the quest to win the Premier League playing the kind of football our supporters want to see. That will only occur if we do absolutely the right things to build the club in a way that makes sense for supporters, for us and for those who will follow us. We will deliver what every long-term supporter of Everton Football Club aches for.

As much as I don't like to talk about the RS on our site I have to say i respect the fact they have a chairman who engages the fans. Be good if our chairman took that approach instead of the silence, not allowing questions at agm's, stopping the press attending.... Just saying!

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Actions speak louder than words! and our chairman engaged himself in a lot of action this year! and he never misses a game!......jmff

Agree0 Disagree0

After the january transfer window, end of last season, this summer's transfer window and the start of the season and you still find a way to have a go at BK time to appreciate what we have at least we got players in on deadline day.....grbefc

Agree0 Disagree0

I respect the fact they have a chairman that gives £30 million for transfer funds at the start of the season, shame he was too stupid to realise that Everton would of been a much better proposition than the sh*te

Agree0 Disagree0

I just feel you want him to say what you want to hear its reality he has told us time and time again we don't have money we have to wheel and deal we live within our income he has been good this summer sold Rodwell 12m and yobo 2m and he has given moyes all of it
Mirallas 5.5m
Naismith free
Pienaar 5m
Oviedo 2m
Ofoe loan

Thats what I call clever business and makes our squad a lot stronger think back to when we have struggled with goals not this season we will score at least 30 more goals this season and that will give us more points as long as we keep tight at the back but you want him to come out and say club sold to billionaire and that we will buy messi get real and stop dreaming we are where we are and I want bill to stay I don't want to risk club being sold and his own manager to come in we will loose everything that is good about us

Agree0 Disagree0

He tried and got stabbed in the back by The Blue Union.
You have obviously never spoken to the man or listened to him when he speaks, there is no more passionate chairman than Bill Kenwright.
Who cares what the R/S say? because i certainly don't.

He's just giving the rs fans lip service to keep them off his/Brenda's back in the hope that results pick up. Blue Lee.

Just curious, out of these 2 situations what would people prefere??

7th/8th place finish and FA Cup or League Cup

or.....

4th place?

Steve

I would honestly go for 7th or 8th and the FA Cup. We badly need silverware, it's been too long and we would qualify for Europa so at least it's some European football which we have not had for 3 years.
Then move onto next season and target top 4 then.
Just my opinion, what would you guys prefere, including the everton ed's?

Steve

Believable2 Unbelievable1

4th place for me mate, brings more money in and we all know money buys players

Degsycool

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd prefer the 1st one. Mainly for the reasons you said and we might not get Champions League football if one of the English teams win it this season and finish below 4th.

Keith EFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit of tricky one. 4th still means a playoff situation. But would love to be in group stages.

Agree0 Disagree0

Given that choice right now it has to be 7th/8th place and FA Cup for the same reasons, we need a trophy and then we can look at next season to break into the top 4

Agree0 Disagree0

I know wat you saying degsycool about finishing 4th but its only a play off and if we didnt get to group stages we havent really gained much money really id go for 7th place and fa cup been too long since we won a trophy then we could concentrate on top 4 the season after

Agree0 Disagree0

Silverware for me. CL means money only of you get into the group stages. Winning a cup gets us in the record books for all time.
Cowpat Sid

Agree0 Disagree0

7/8th league cup and then we get into europa league.

CP

Agree0 Disagree0

No brainier why I do hope we win a cup as moyes deserves a trophy top 4 for me money champ league brings in would move us on further I know what moyes would choose put it this way if moyes had already won a trophy you would all be saying top 4 also champ league would mean holding on to our top players finishing 7 or 8th this season we can say bye to Fellini Jelavic baines and so on we would be easy picking as players will want to play higher level

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take the cup and Europa League, lets face it, with this squad adding a few quality buys in the summer it would be possible to go all the way in the Europa the following season, with the best will in the world we wouldn't do that in the Champions League.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless we finished 3rd, cup all day long. Finish 4th, we will face Spanish opposition & some retiring, bald, bung snatching official will ensure we don't get to the group stages.

Vincent

Agree0 Disagree0

Although it would be nice to win silverware, 4th place opens up so many doors for us and could give us long term benefits.

Champs League opens up more money for new players, even opens up more quality players as they would be attracted tot the fact we have CL footy, this in turn leads us to having a better team and thus could win silverware for years to come.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id take top 4 this season, the main reason being is that a lot of the top teams are in transition this season, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, i think Newcastle have not really improved either. So if we could sneak in now, get in to the group stages we could have funds to stay there. Next season there might be a much stronger Spurs Arsenal and Liverpool to contend with but the FA and League cups will always be there.

Another thing that made this transfer window just gone the best we've had in God knows how long is the ages. In this current time, and with the amount of players we have that are the wrong side of 30, it's imperative we look towards more youth - and the ages of our new signings certainly show that:

Naismith (free) - 25

Peanuts (£4.5m) - 30 - although he knows how we work
already, so he doesn't need settling in time unlike others.

Kev Mirallas (£5.3 - £6m) - 24

Bryan Oviedo (Undis. - places say different things from £1m - £5m) - 22

Matt Kennedy (Undis. - believed to be around £200,000 - £300,000) - 17

Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe (loan w/ view to buy) - 23

Here's the average ages based on these line ups:
Howard, Hibbo, Jags, Distin, Baines, Naisy, Ossie, Gibbo, Peanuts, Felli, Jela.
Avg. age = 28.727

Alternative: Howard, Neville, Johnny, Distin, Baines, Mirallas, Gibbo, Felli, Peanuts, Naisy, Jela
Avg. age = 28.272

So both of our 2 main line ups average about 28 years-old, but add our new players from deadline day and likes of youth from the bench and that drops.

I don't know if there was much point in that last bit, but yeah. Our squad has a nice mix of very, very experienced players and a lovely bit of youth, and that's without including players like Barkley, Duffy, etc.

whats up with jelavic?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Nothing except no service everything fell to fellini who had a of day he was marked better than previous games needs to go back to midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh you mean cos he isnt scoring every game, get real man, if he scored every game he would have cost 50 million and not 5 million

Agree0 Disagree0

I think pushin felli up instead of naismith is taking jellys movement away becos now they aiming for fellani what you think ed {Ed025's Note - I would prefer jelly and Naisy up top myself..

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you ed playing felli up top full time will not work.its ok as and when needed like the united game when they played carrick a midfielder at centre back where playing there is alien to him.jelavic is making the runs and trying to find the space only it seems everything is going through felli.id have him back in midfield controlling the game and push naisy up just behind jelavic.jimmy

Agree0 Disagree0

I really think it depends on the opposition we face as to whether we play Naismith up top or Fellaini up top. In games where we will dominate possession, would rather see Fellaini drop deep and Naismith up top because Naismith is much better with the ball at his feet than Fellaini. But when we verse teams like United, City where we will predominantly concede possession, then having Fellaini up top who can keep hold of the ball and allow the likes of Pienaar, Naismith and Mirallas to join the attack.

Also depends on the opponents centre half, if they aren't that physical (Carrick for example) then Fellaini would be a good bet.

We should win comfortably

Agree0 Disagree0

The week before the Leeds game we play Newcastle on Monday night and then Swansea at Saturday lunchtime so we might have some players unavailable for the Leeds game, which IMHO won't be as straightforward as the Leyton Orient game - we'll need to be on top of our game. Most of us were very cocky about the WBA game - just turn up and take three easy points - but we certainly got a reality check. Leeds will be up for it big time.
