Ok elephant in the room. Squad looking a lot better, football is a lot more entertaining to watch, owner is willing to spend, plans of new stadium set to be handed in to council in 6 months time. Of course we want to win things but realistically we should be a feel good club right now, yet still the atmosphere at Goodison is so dull. All this "the fans should have their say on the stadium design" and I read fans saying it needs to be this or that so it's a cauldron of noise, we are sooooooo quiet. We never used to be, the last 4 seasons though is so quiet, regardless of opponent or result. What's happened?

My take svenny is that people have felt so let down (perceived) by their Team in recent seasons when protests have taken the form of flying a plane banner to even at home booing their own players (uncalled for in my view) , that they have been drained. We now 11 games in are showing what a Team we can be, so the pessimists are biting tongues and others keeping powder dry. Personally though mate I was shouting myself to voice loss today. A slight stretch I know but this is looking more and more like a Howard team of the 80's and it is as I say only 11 games in.

04 Nov 2018 10:33:23
The Brighton fans were loud and proud from beginning to end and made far more noise than our 30,000 did. They were singing ā€œthis is a libraryā€ for ages.

Well done boys, once again Mr silver has proven me wrong so I will be eating humble pie for tea again, but don't mind at all.

Don't forget to have some Allardyce gravy on that pie.

Smit666 the Allardyce gravy leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. I'd stay clear of it lol.

So we will have a nice new stadium to play in a second rate league - what's the point? I for one will probably stop watching football altogether. it's a pathetic idea driven by greed and money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Nov 2018 21:03:42
If your talking about the new Euro league mentioned today, it is to soon to worry about, probably never happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 21:47:46
What is the main draw for fans who will watch the euro league? To see the best teams play each other? That already happens.
The league, if it happens will soon become stale. No relegation, no top 4 or 6 to play for. The same 2 or 3 teams winning it every season.
Unless I'm missing something, they are going to have something more than a 16 team elite 1 league system to keep people interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 21:41:40
It will happen Mr clouds.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Nov 2018 07:44:18
It probably will happen Skylark. By then the Television brigade of supporters will outnumber the ones who actually watch football live by a huge proportion. But there are still those who watch their home clubs and enjoy the live football. When I moved to South Gloucestershire I started watching Forest Green Rovers and eventually got involved with coaching their youth set ups. I still went up to Goodison and still do. Many watch their teams of huge clubs in the Championship. Leeds, Notts Forest, West Brom, Middlesborough, Villa and many more have been regular top flight clubs for many years and have support that reflects this. Just because the money men turn football into Disney does not mean we should all stop enjoying where it all started out!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good point degsy..

04 Nov 2018 10:36:57
The Euro League is just about widening the gap between the top teams and the rest in each league. Theyā€™ve been trying to make it a closed group for years and will take a lot of the TV money out of the respective leagues when itā€™s set up. One point though, will the players all have to get visas for every away game after Brexit?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The Visa situation will remain as it is now regarding travelling for football.}

03 Nov 2018 20:46:16
Hey Ed seeing Cenk was on the bench again today do you think his days are numbered at the Club, also seems a lot of fans are having a pop at Theo, though he had a good game mysef his passes were pinpoint today.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thats up to tosun himself GB, when he gets a chance he has to take it with both hands mate or his days will be numbered i feel, theo was better than he has been lately and lets hope its the return to form he really needed..

03 Nov 2018 21:03:05
See where you are coming from mate, just no time in footy these days poor couple of games and you are out.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 21:51:15
Theo has been poor and it is the standard of our bench that drives supporters to have him dropped, similar to Tosun.
And it is a good thing. Don't perform and they are replaced with a better option until they are back on form. We haven't had that for a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - dead right smit, its been a long while since our bench has looked this strong mate..

03 Nov 2018 18:57:35
Gomez improving every game - catch 22 if we want to buy him Barcelona will up the asking price. Great addition to the team.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree baz, we could offer barca Ā£50m plus schneiderlin....or Ā£55m without mate.. :)

03 Nov 2018 19:07:27
Ed we would get a 2 word response from Barcelona as soon as we mention Schneiderlin mate and the second word would be OFF!

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - as long as it was "gomes your off to everton"...i would be happy mate.. :)

03 Nov 2018 19:31:53
Thats the third word Ed ***** he he he.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your not the only one on the sauce mate.. :)

03 Nov 2018 19:32:11

03 Nov 2018 19:42:30
Where are we on MOTD tonight by the way? Reminds me, how many 'D's in Match of the Day?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - dddder drddd dddrdd..13 mate.. :)

03 Nov 2018 19:54:10
Serious note, we paid for Richarlison 40 Mill, I would say he has repaid 30 mill of that (high finance return of the Premier League that is 5 mill a goal - worth it) , that is from a producer. Gomez is a facilitator, I. E. he provides/ creates, a much prized commodity, so in my opinion well worth Ā£50 Mill (based on games I have seen him play so far) . Both are going to get better and better, especially under Silva and his staff.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 19:59:23
I think you have it the wrong way around Ed. It would be 50M without Schneiderlin or 55M with him. Great result today, best game I have seen us play for a long time. Bring on Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i was right first time mike.. :)

03 Nov 2018 19:46:19
Nope 79.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 20:12:03
He has a buy out clause of 100m euro in his contract so donā€™t see anything happening unless Barcelona want him out but wouldnā€™t be that cheap even if they were to accept a lower price.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 21:53:29
Barcelona need cash so we could get him at the right price if all parties were interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it would help with FPP regulations as well smit if they were to unload him to buy new players...but he wont come cheap mate thats for sure..

04 Nov 2018 10:43:13
My only frustration with Richarlison is the rolling around in the door every time someone goes near him. At one point today he went down after a coming together but the ball broke to Bernard in acres of space so the ref rightly waved play on. Bernard breaks down the left and looks up but Richarlisonā€™s still lying on the ground holding his head in our half and the chance is wasted. They clear the ball upfield and when Richarlison realised its coming his way heā€™s up and on it. If he stops all that he could become a great.

Hey Ed 025 dare I say Richarlison better than Rom, but this guy has so much pace and passion.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i still want a centre forward though GB because he could be even more devastating cutting in from wide mate, 2 great goals from him and an all round stellar performance from the blues mate..

03 Nov 2018 17:42:43
Just watched the goals again and I think we have the makings of a world class player in Richarlson still need an out and out striker but he'll do for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very much so lee..

03 Nov 2018 18:37:14
Agree Ed but he is so quick and clinical, something Everton havn't had in years.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes doing a fantastic job GB, but imagine him along side a prolific CF who could convert all his and the others good work?...we may not need defenders then mate.. :)

03 Nov 2018 18:48:42
Love it mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 18:57:41
GB you can't compare Lukaku and Ricky mate, different kind of player. Richarlison (as an Ed says) will be devastating coming from wide once A. Tosun gets a good run or B. We can identify an out and out CF converter for the crosses coming in. Make no bones about it Lukaku is a class player and is only going to get better. As is Richarlison going to get better but in a different way.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 19:00:35
Be great to get a top class striker in alongside Richarlison, my main concern at the moment is we are getting into great positions, but time and again taking the wrong option in not playing a simple ball across goal to a player in a better position and instead trying to get a shot off from a tight angle.

If we can get composure and start looking for team mates unmarked or in a better position, we really could compete and put more teams to bed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - what you have to remember bignev is that a lot of these players have not played together for that long, given time i believe that understanding will come as they get used to each others game mate..

04 Nov 2018 07:46:06
And are very young Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very much so degsy mate..

04 Nov 2018 22:14:44
I agree Ed, so far though in nearly every game players have had a simple through ball on and chose to go the hard way and fluff their lines, Walcott on numerous occasions, Tosun, Degne, Bernard, Coleman among others, hopefully they will all learn to play the ball to a player unmarked in the box but hasnā€™t half cost us goals this season, with ignoring their team mates.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 17:11:01
Only 4 points behind the so called Big Boys, couple of additions in Jan and we will be cooking.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Nov 2018 21:06:10
Lets not get carried away a few tough away fixtures between now and then, let's be patient.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 17:02:54
Brilliant team performance today! . 1 criticism would be that we still aren't clinical enough and as we saw against united it punishes you if you don't take your chances against the " bigger" sides.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Nov 2018 17:08:20
How can you be any more clinical than having 3 shots on target and scoring all three. However I take it that a lot of those shots off target should have hit the back of the net?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - how good is it to watch though ginger?, a million miles from last year and i could not be happier mate..

03 Nov 2018 17:10:37
Its the conceding that concerns me mate. We keep scoring 2 and 3 goals a game or at least 1. Successful teams have to learn how not to leak goals at the other end. That is why we have dropped points. Too many 2-2 draws and 2-1 losses. Goals are aplenty both ends. If we stop conceding we will win more games. Simple.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 17:17:06
Just to make my point LewBlue. Liverpool have scored 20 and conceded 4. We have scored 19 and conceded 15. Goals for are not a problem for us. its the goals against doing the damage.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Nov 2018 18:03:30
Here comes a cynical comment in support of degsyp who to be fair tells it how it is. Doesn't the 19 for 15 against smack of another super attacking tactician, one Mr Martinez ;-)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the thing is BCT that roberto had 2 seasons to put that right and never did, marco has had 11 games so to compare them at this early stage in his tenure is naive at best mate, if after 2 years its still the same then of course you and degsy have a point but until then i suggest we just enjoy the fabulous entertainment that we are witnessing..

03 Nov 2018 19:00:14
Am enjoying it Ed. Just being cheeky. Hic!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i will let you off BCT...because i am so happy, im like scrooge when he woke up on christmas morning mate.. :)

03 Nov 2018 19:37:02
Now you have just made me miserable Ed. Last count I/ We have 6 Grand Kids, 4 Kids and the rest including us add up to a grand total of 17 or 18 coming round to scoff 'my' booze, 'my' food. 'Love you Grand Dad' ********* humbug.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - bloody hell eberneezer, lash out on your family mate while you can, there are no pockets in a shroud BCT.. :)

03 Nov 2018 20:08:54
Ed025. My week. Mon Me - Gym 0600, Grand Daughter (2) play, feed and swimming at 1400. Tues Me - Gym/ Swim 0600, wife to classes WTF! Pick up Grand Daughter (2) . Wed Me - Gym 0600, Grand Daughter (2) play and then to Sensory. The other 3 Mon to Friday take to School pick up from School. Get my drift! LOL. So that is work with no pay working week and paying taxes on pension on earnings I have already paid tax on. Yep us old sods are miserable ******. But come Saturday/ Sunday during the season I have my beloved Everton, nobody can take that away from me. So Scrooge it is!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and i bet you love every minute of being a granddad BCT, i know i do mate and my third one is due tonight...so hoping to welcome young luna later and after a great everton win...it dont get much better than that my friend..

03 Nov 2018 20:23:31
Book and read come to mind mate LOL.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - great library though mate..

Early domination and a few chances that could/ should have been converted. Great goal by Richy but absolutely woeful defending for their equaliser. Overall some good play and all to play for second half. COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Nov 2018 17:00:43
That's more like it! . Great second half and 2 superb goals by Richy and Seamus. Fantastic. Any fans who still can't see the obvious progress that's been made need their eyes - and their brain - testing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - absolutely BigH, great football and a delight to watch, still a few flaws defensively but thats nit picking mate..

03 Nov 2018 17:10:00
I am glad to be wrong. When I saw the selection today (based on Walcots recent form and to be fair Ricky's frustration in front of goal) I said Mr Silva had missed a chance. What do I know, I thought Walcot was 80 percent better than recently, Coleman the marauder Everton through and through get in lad. Ricky! We have ourselves a bargain there. COYB. Tell the wife I will be late home LOL.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - enjoy BCT and have one for me mate..

03 Nov 2018 17:11:37
You are so right BigH78. Great progress made. Not far off a decent team I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we are very decent now degsy, not far off a top 6 side i would say mate and only for a couple of bad misses could have had a hat full today mate..

03 Nov 2018 20:29:47
Realistically the way things are shaping Ed, we are heading to where we belong and that in my modest opinion is 7th. Currently (and it pains me) we have Liverpool, the two Mancs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spuds, that is no mean company by any means. It is a process, another couple of seasons under this fella and Brands with Moshri's backing, we will really have them looking over their shoulders.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think thats the plan mate, and im down with that..

03 Nov 2018 14:35:25
Sorry to be negative but with Walcots reduced form of the last few games and Richarlison hit or miss at CF the Team was/ is crying out for change and imo I thought that Mr Silva would not be Martinez like and stick with his favourites. I hope I am wrong but this could be an opportunity missed. COYB.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Nov 2018 16:45:39
I think you are right about Walcott but the manager is making 1000's of decisions and getting most correct. Perhaps Walcott is looking good in training and just needs a bit of confidence. Either way the manager is improving us every week.

Morning Eds what's with this new super league? Do they really think than the fans can afford to go to away matches won't bother us as I don't think we will be in it yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we wont be in it penysarn, if it happens it will be the end of football as we know it, the rich clubs getting richer and the rest us hung out to dry mate..

03 Nov 2018 08:41:49
I'm with you on that ed football will be finished mate, for me if the so called top 5 or 6 do go then don't let them back when it all go wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and how i would love that to happen mate..

03 Nov 2018 09:30:53
i don't think they could have looked at the bigger picture mate and what gives them the right to do it in the first place at the end of the day there just another football club like ours with a bit more money.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but it would basically make the likes of us a second division club penysarn, i would love nothing more than for it to go tits up and for them to have to apply to get back in our leauges starting at the bottom of course mate..

03 Nov 2018 11:38:31
I donā€™t think itā€™ll be as popular as they think itā€™s going to be, supporters of the smaller teams still vastly outweigh the supporters of the big 5/ 6. The big ties get more casual fans watching as itā€™s a from our country/ league and more directly affects them, that just wonā€™t happen if the games are happening in a different league. Donā€™t get me wrong I like European football but I donā€™t love it, I certainly wouldnā€™t go out of my way to watch it, but I do the premier league and I think Iā€™d they go down this route everyone will lose.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The whole issue has been in discussion for a number of years, so this is nothing new - and as it seems to have been reported muddles a number of matters up. I have explained the actual situation many times in the past - probably the European pages and a search for ā€œpan Europeanā€ or Monaco would be the best starting point. Largely it is seen as a natural progression from the leagues that we have now. It will attract very significant money and it will force a rethink by the likes of the Premier League and Football Association in terms of the way forward.}

03 Nov 2018 12:00:49
Just my personal opinion on fans interest in it ed factoring out any financials. I just donā€™t think itā€™ll be as exciting, no once in a decade tie drawing Real Madrid in the champions league, itā€™ll be happening every other week. The more you have of something the less interesting it is.

On another note, know youā€™re a busy fella but any more sharkpods in the pipeline? . Iā€™m not just talking Everton. I enjoy your insight on whatā€™s happening with all transfers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Everything points to it being successful. A few years ago, perhaps four, there was some polling of the fans and they were very much for it. It would however be fair to say that a number of sides (five of the 21 ā€œeliteā€ sides who meet to discuss this and many other issues) have said they will not leave their own league to join a pan European league. There are also other options being proposed by UEFA and FIFA to try and combat this from happening.

I will be travelling for a while but I hope to be able to doing some Sharkopods in December.}
