I would like to see Del Boy on one wing and Mirrallas on the other with Rom and Kone up front. Only problem then is It means no place for Ross as we need Barry and Mcarthy as protection and Ross is not ready for that role yet. Does anyone else wonder why Galloway doesn't cross the ball more he's got the pace but always seems to cut back and seems reluctant to go down the line and whip one in (only Naismith header) I can recall.

Sorry rob mate but ross would and should be in the team before Barry I understand he lacks a bit for the role Barry plays but we would just have to play with abit more of an attacking formation imo as for Galla I can see what your saying about not putting the ball in the box but if you watch the kid when he overlaps he tends to cut in and finds himself in the box a lot and he finds space to so I will settle for that.

Don't think we need 2 holding Midfielders every game, Galloway, like Browning, is a defensive Centre Back playing full back, not his game.

Maybe at home we should play Mcarthy and Ross but opt for more defensive away or against the likes of city I would much rather see us have a right go at teams like we did v Sunderland and have the attitude you score 3 we will score 4. It was more like Robertos 1st season.

I would like to see delboy mirallas and Kone behind lukaku against west ham no harm in giving Barkley a break played a lot of games need to get mirallas back envoled more and scoring west ham will be a tough game take three points here and we will be right in a great position coyb.

Fine having two wingers, but you still need someone to get the ball to them. Not all about defence. I prefer the attitude of you score we'll score more.

If you play 2 wingers surely they'll get plenty of the ball. I don't like the attitude you score, we'll score more. How many teams do you think we could beat that way? I can think of at least 6 off the top of head that would be a non runner.

Martinez first season we let in second least goals and still played attractive attacking football. I'd be aiming for that. Can't think of many teams who had success with the attitude of scoring more if the opposition score.

Remember Newcastle having that attitude in the 90's I think under Keegan. Although it produced some of the best games you could see it didn't really work. Were great games to watch but success rate not overly great.

Just read that evertonian Stephen k. has set up a fund to fly a plane over Goodison park with a message thanking bill for everything he has done for our club over the years 99.9% of us sane fans will be on our feet and will show bill he is one of our own. PS. well done Stephen k.

Bout time something like that was done. The least big Bill deserves.

This being paid for by the same fans who said flying Planes over stadiums is embarrassing and pathetic?

Is it not to do with what is written on the message, Swan?

Good idea IMO about time we start getting behind team and club.

Wasn't when we played Southampton, was just the "sad" amount of money and effort put in to flying a Plane criticizing the board. Don't see how that's any different to the equally "sad" amount of money and effort put in to flying a Plane supporting the board.

Its thanking Bill, Swan. There's a difference. Deserves a medal if you ask me.

I see were swan is coming from NBTB and he has a point tbf, there is other ways to thank him, by letter maybe? That could be put in the programme. To criticise one persons method of protest and then use that method yourself is kind of hypercritical don't you think?

O, never thought of it that way. Good point. Prob would be better ways of doing it so.

Just read John moncur saying he isn't worried about playing us this weekend as they have been beating all the bigger clubs this season and if Sunderland can score 2 they can score a lot more against us ha ha I really hope we beat them as it seems they think they are better than they actually are COYB.

I'd hold my laughing till after the game Bluey79. I hope we beat them 6 - 0. But he has a point they are a better side than Sunderland. The positive for them is that Sunderland scored 2 against us. Not many games will be won when you let 2 goals in.

Sounds like they are already targeting Howard. I'll repeat what said above in case people gets idea's that I want Howard to have a bad game to prove me right. I hope to god we win 6 - 0 and Howard gets man of the match. No sarcasm what so ever in this post.

They've done well vs the bigger clubs, away from home, at Upton Park they've lost to Leicester and Bournmouth. We play best away from home, though they will target Howard with those balls in to the box for Carroll. Just hope we target bambi on ice Ogbonna as he looks dreadful.

He has a point. Sunderland were really bad, it is no exaggeration to say playing like that they would be toward the bottom of the Championship. Having said that they scored 2 against us and hit the post twice. 2 or 3 places above them and I honestly don't think we would have got away with it.

I'm under no illusions it will be a tough game but we are not a poor team just because they have a very good start one of their former players comes out and says he isn't worried about playing us well imo he should be because before long West ham will drop to mid table and we will be where should be challenging top 6.

Yes, exactly wakka57. You wouldn't think just 2 seasons ago we had the second best defence in the PL. I'm not convinced by the attitude, you score we'll score more. It might work against the likes of Sunderland but not many other teams in PL

Would rather return to having a top notch defence like we had not that long ago. Attacking football can be played with a tight back line. Like was proved in Martinez's first season.

What a great open letter from a Sunderland supporter about the generosity and friendliness of not just the Everton supporters but the scousers in general brought a lump to my throat well done Everton and the city of Liverpool.

I felt exactly the same way . I have been looking for the story on ssn but I doubt we will see it different if it had been fans running on the pitch! Perhaps they are unaware of the story but that's were EFC promotion should come in or is that a joke .

First let me say I enjoy Swan's contribution to this forum. I agree with what he has said about Lukaku, nor sure why anyone would think he is lazy. He is a big guy so he is not going to be as fast as some of the smaller players but he works his socks off for the team.
I watched the Sunderland game for the second time tonight and have the following observations.
1) Kone was superb, scored three and made great passes for the first and third goals.
2) If Messi had made the Lukaku pass for Kone's last goal the press would be all over it.
3) I counted the back/side passes made by Barkley, they were 37 in the fist half and 33 in the second against 8 forward passes in the first and 6 in the second (I counted passes that were slightly forward but going nowhere as sideways) . He had two shots in the first half, one wide and one blocked and as far as I could see non in the second. He made no great passes like the ones from Kone and Lukaku. Even when he had no opposition player near him he immediately got rid of the ball by passing back/sideways.
As far as I can see he is much more direct for England than he is for Everton. Shame really since he has so much talent but for some reason he is not showing it, maybe he is under instructions from Martinez to play this way?
Less of this tippy-tappy stuff and let's see him moving forward like he can and take on players and try some passes that split the defense.

It may be the lack of forward movement and the quality of the opposition that stops Ross playing more forward directional passes. So of the sides England have played against have not pressed anywhere near as much as the PL sides we have played against. Our movement off the ball is not great either we either sit wide or come towards the ball most of the time which is a shame as when we do make good runs we look much better.

At times Lukaku had appeared lazy looking last season. Very rare if at all this season. I couldn't fault him at all this season he is fantastic. I've actually being giving out about the service he's getting.

They don't pass him the ball enough. His first touch on Sun was brilliant. Cross for Kone was top class. Even the celebrations with him and Kone were brilliant. They seem to have a real connection and it shows on the field. Lukaku looked delighted for Kone.

Long may there partnership continue. In another 5 years Lukaku could be world class if he keeps developing the way he is. Best and most consistent striker Everton have had in a long long time now.

Needs to find a way to connect with Barkley better. If that started along with Kone and Del boy we would have plenty of happy days at Goodison. Future looks bright on attacking front. Although West Ham will be a different prospect than last weekend.
