Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Just a thought to bear in mind when posters suggest who we should be signing.
At the end of last Summer's transfer window, we registered 24 players in our aged-over-21 Premier League squad. A maximum of 25 can be named.
We omitted Garbutt and Junior, as they're on long-term loans this season.
We've brought in Mattioni, who was a free agent.
In addition, we have four players - Stones, Deulofeu, Browning and Pennngton - who will have to be included in next Summer's registered squad as they'll have turned 21 by then.
That makes 31 players all competing for a place in our 25-man squad. So, at least six will have to moved out plus any to allow incoming transfers.
If we've already registered Mattioni (I don't know, as he was immediately sent out on loan) , then we already have 25 refgstered players going into the January transfer window. Any new player will need to take a current squad member's place. There are quite a few players that many fans would like to see go, next Summer, but maybe they'll still be needed for the remainder of this season and so won't leave in January.
As far as the homegrown quota is concerned, we should be alright, especially as we're bringing through so many youngsters.
Just on the numbers alone, it looks like there'll be a significant turnover in the squad next Summer. As for the other U-21 players and academy players, there'll surely be some of those that'll also be released.
It's said that a football manager succeeds (or not! ) based on his recruitment - well RM has had five transfer windows so far at Everton and he's recruited pretty well overall in my humble opinion and is certainly giving young talent a chance. Let's see how the current players do this season and how RM shapes the squad during the next couple of transfer windows.

Connor grant getting rave reviews up at Doncaster, as is Mattioni, just had loans extended to Jan.

Grant looks boss, seen a lot of Motherwell raving about him when he was there. Has a sweet left foot and good set piece delivery (about time) , think both his professional goals have been beauty's outside the box. I remember Martinez saying he would have made his first team debut in Martinez's first season but he got a bad injury, looks a real talent.

I don't want to get too wrapped up in thinking too far ahead - it's "one game a a time" in my humble opinion - but a look at the January fixtures does show how season-defining that period will surely be.
We have the two legs of the League Cup semi-final and the third and (hopefully! ) fourth rounds of the FA Cup.
In the Premier League, we have matches against Tottenham (home) , Man City (away) , Chelsea (away) , and Swansea (home) .
Then there's the transfer window: an outgoing or two already being mooted and (wishful thinking perhaps! ) some incoming quality to add to our existing talent.
All in all, that month will surely show if we're serious challengers OR just a plucky club (albeit a proper football club with a great history) that's now considered to be "punching above its weight", but a club that these days falls short on the trophy front against the modern moneyed elite.
That first trophy for a couple of decades (that springboard onto further success ) is tantalisingly close. Our exciting blend of young and experienced players, the heights of our attacking play (when we play with speed and precision and confidence and intensity) , the improving self-belief of the players (they're playing like they believe they're good enough and aren't "bottling" matches this season) . It all bodes well, so let's see if RM can get the team to actually deliver some tangible success:-)

Unless we sell I can't see us bringing anyone else in we have cover for every position. I do like the look of our youth defenders Galloway Browning and Pennington especially so I can see them being used if the 1st team get injured.

No doubt the squad is strong. For me a new goalkeeper and striker would be very welcome. Every other position is well covered in my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - a keeper and a No10 for me mate..

Take it your not happy with Barkley? Kone, Mirallas, Del boy even Naismith for no 10 role? No point mentioning Osman šŸ˜ Might not be exactly Yarmalenko or however you spell his name but I think we're ok in that position. For me Barkley will grow into it.

He does frustrate me at times but he's still very young and imo will develop and mature with every season and eventually turn out to be a fantastic no 10.

Top striker who can score goals I think is needed more than a no 10. If Lukaku gets a bad injury we are basically knackered.

But as you say Ed, its about opinions.

{Ed025's Note - yarmolenko would do nicely mate..

Issue is NBTB, Ross has said he doesn't want to play there much longer as he sees himself as a box to box player.

Didn't see him saying that Swan. I'm not doubting you just hadn't heard that. I seen him saying I think at beginning of this season that wanted to play just behind the striker.

Funny enough plenty of times last Tuesday night he was playing deeper than Osman. Maybe they were alternating.

We have plenty of midfielders anyway. Plenty of centre backs also.

If the rumoured interest in Mirallas pans out, then I'd probably be OK wth him being transferred (based on his overall performances and contribution) , but ONLY if we get a decent fee AND we bring in a decent addition for his place in our squad. It wouldn't have to be a like-for-like player (positionally speaking) imho, but it would have to be someone of quality.
If Mrallas could have nailed down the left-sided position - and contributed as much as Pienaar did - then I'd have loved that, but (for whatever reasons on and/or off the field) he just doesn't seem to be getting the chance thes days (nor talking the chances when he does get a rare opportunity) . Such a pity for everyone concerned :- (

The problem IMO is our formation we are lining up in a 4231 but play more like a 442 with Kone playing up the middle more than on the left. Kone and Roms partnership is working really well, so its doubtful Kev will be able to force his way in there. The only place I can see him getting in is as the additional CM but if Ross gets injured I think RM would play Naisey or even Ossie ahead of him.
