Mucha has put in a couple of good performances recently, but he hasn't been dropped not had he been offered a new contract. The fact is his contract is up in June and he will be out the door, he isn't playing unless it is completely necessary due to the risk of injury.

There won't be a dry eye in the crowd when Jan says his goodbyes to the Goodison faithful.

Mike

He had no interest in a new contract, why play him.

Would everyone take back Lescott or not? Just interested as it seems a possibility. I wouldn't have a problem with him as a person but do we need another player over 30? I'm not so sure.

I would have no problem with him coming back, I know he left under a cloud but on the plus side he would need to play out of his skin to get back on side with supporters. This would also give the like of duffy/stones (when he signed moyes said he had the making of a centre back) to develop. Jags and lescott were a pretty awesome partnership.
bluepaddy

Agree0 Disagree0

For a reasonable price - I would. Much better than Heitinga, and a lot younger than Distin (although I admit he's hardly a youth player himself)

Agree0 Disagree0

If we bring in lescott what does that tell our promising young talents like duffy, sooner or later they need to start playing more

Agree0 Disagree0

Lescott was a top player for us and only did what players do - try to play at highest level possible and get some medals

He also got us 22 (?) mill which allowed us to buy 3 good players

He can play centre or left back

Scores headers at corners

Definitely have him back

Agree0 Disagree0

Blue Paddy, I don't see how Duffy will benefit from having another senior international central defender in front of him. He is at the age now where he needs to start playing a few first team games or he will be off.

If jonny does leave we couldn't start a season with just jags/distin/duffy who ever comes in another centre back is needed.
I hope duffy gets his break but I've seen him a few times for irish youth teams and his lack of pace is a big worry at the top level.

Anyone fluent in gibberish? I wonder if you could interpret Moyes' latest words of wisdom "If people say it is best for Everton Football Club that I stay, then I would agree - I genuinely believe that as well. " A loose translation would be appreciated.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

He wants to stay. Blue Lee

Agree0 Disagree0

Loosely translated as ''I have a far too high opinion of myself. ''

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

He's playing it canny - seeing how land lies and sorting out the best option for himself

Show him the door and get Martinez - that'll learn him

Agree0 Disagree0

Basically, what he's saying is, that if people say its best for Everton Football Club that he stays, then he would agree, he genuinely believes that as well. There, I hope that cleared it up for you

Agree0 Disagree0

Mike did you ever think that he might have meant that it would be best for him to stay personally i. e. as he has a good job at a great club, fantastic relationship with the chairman, almost total control over club affairs etc etc

Why do you take that he meant that it would be better for Everton and not him?
Your negativity and cynicism is quite frankly starting to get boring!

Moyes gets to dangle us on a string whilst he waits to see where we finish and whether he gets any better offers from the likes of rumoured chelski

We should bin him off and get Martinez who should bring McCarthy and rated defender mcmanaman

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Absolute rubbish moyes will see where we end up the question will be is the budget there to improve the team and I understand that he is a top manager and if the budget is there to take us further he will sign if not then he has to go for his personal ambition providing its to a club with better resources gut feeling he will stay

Agree0 Disagree0

A top manager wins trophies.
a top manager takes his teams into the lions den ( ie analfield, Old trafford) and wins games.
a top manager has young attacking teams.
Moyes is NOT a top manager.
he is an average manager who earns a fortune at EFC and has won FA in 11 11 years.
Time for change

I think the next match against Tottenham next Sunday is the most important game of the season. Would have been a lot more confident if Fellaini and Pienaar were available. Really hope Mirralas is fit seemed to be holding his hamstring a bit when going off yesterday. One thing in our favour is they play Basel on the Thursday could pick up an injury or two. G. Bale please. Spurs lost there last home match 2-0 to Fulham so it is possible for us to beat them. I think Spurs are stronger away from home hitting teams on the break with all there pace. If we want any chance of top 4 its a must win game for us. can't play the same system as yesterday or Bale and Lennon will exploit the space in behind the wing backs. It has to be 4-4-1-1. Give them no time on the ball and keep space to a minimum and try to hit them on the break that's the way Fulham did it. We will have a real chance if we beat Spurs.
We then will have a fresh Pienaar and Fellaini for the run in. COYB.

Can we do it? Yes we can!

Has anyone seen or heard kenwright's interview he's apparently done for tv recently. ?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I have. But I'm 99% sure the 'We've had interested parties this week" (not an actual quote, but a loosely translated one which is 80% quoted) is just BS as season tickets have gone on sale recently.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2013 12:16:12
even though it was just one nill still it was an important win to keep top 4 hopes alive, and that without piennar and fellaini, and I think mirallas would be even better behind the striker like bale for spurs in free role

We don't need pity thanks.
Moyes himself said he can see why some would want change.
Moyes has worked wonders on a small budget. From regular relegation fodder to top 8 consistently, but he did this after 4 of his 11 years, and since then there has been no real progress. No cups no top 4. Now I'm the first to admit that with our finances none of the above should be expected but only one cup final in 11 years is poor.
With the extra funds available this summer and an ageing squad that needs freshening up I thinks it's the perfect time for a change. Now I know a lot of people are scared of change but in this situation it is good timing to say thanks Dave you have been a true hero and legend let's see if joe blogs can take on the baton

Svenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he's alluding to the fact that its harder to progress now that not only do you have the millions of Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal etc you can add Man City to the mix financially. We are pretty much top of the second tier of the Premier League

Howard is better than Mucha! Remember the Wigan game Mucha stood still! Ryanfromleic

Believable5 Unbelievable5

There wasn't much Mucha could have done about any of Wigan's goals. So I doubt Howard would have done any better.

Agree0 Disagree0

No he isn't. And Howard wouldn't have saved any of Wigans goals either.

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand what people think much could've done with the goals against Wigan. One was a header from a corner, the 2nd was a 1v1 and the 3rd he was blinded by his defenders, and it was just a cracking strike.

What about his impressive saves against City and creeping a clean sheet against the reigning champions?

I don't mind Howard, but I thought Mucha didn't deserve to get dropped against Stoke, although who really cares, we picked up the 3pts and a clean sheet.

Agree0 Disagree0

There was a period in the game when Howard kicked long into touch down the sides about 6 or 7 times on the trot

I was thinking wtf he's done it again even on the third time - by the 7th I thought it was unbelievable - I know it's not the goalies most important skill but seven times kicking into touch - giving ball straight back to them for a throw?

Agree0 Disagree0

There is not much between Howard and Mucha two average keepers, but Mucha is out of contract in the summer and wants first team football and for that reason he will leave in the summer. We need to bring in a decent keeper to push Howard for the first team position. El Hasbsi could be availible in the summer as Matinez said he is not automatic first chioce anymore.

Dero.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just don't understand why you think mucha is better than howard, mucha has had ONE good game for us whereas howard has been pretty much all you can ask for in a goalie since he's been here. if mucha was really better then he'd out train howard for the job, or not play like a bum in all the other appearences he's made over the years

IMWT
A real evertonion

Agree0 Disagree0

A real evertonian? Haha, more like a 'happy clapper'. Open your eyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

A lucky 1-0 win over Stoke? Stoke are a tough side, they rarely give an opposition an easy game. Would you call United's win over Sunderland lucky? or Spurs against Swansea?

For me, a good side is defined by when they aren't playing great and yet still manage to pick up the 3pts, I mean Man U are the experts at this and they have essentially won the title due to their ability to just win the game, even when they aren't at their best.

A lucky win is still 3pts, give win a lucky 1-0 win over a game where we totally dominate and end up drawing or losing the match (Fulham, Norwich, the list goes on)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I would say it was rather fortunate. Stoke had a few opportunities to score from set-pieces, and they really should have scored after they hit the bar early on.
Though, I agree, 3 points is 3 points regardless of the opposition and I'll take the rub of the green this time, or any other time rather than battering other teams (in terms of chances created, etc) and getting a point, or in some cases, nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

No they shouldn't have scored, that's why they hit the bar, if they were supposed to score they would have put it in the back of the net

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok mate, whatever. You keep telling yourself that. I'm not getting into a debate over semantics with you

Err 2-0 v city

John Barnes is a disgrace. Stating a top 8 finish is a big achievement for Everton. He just made the list

Believable8 Unbelievable1

What he means is compared to the budgets teams like liverpool and spurs ect. it is a good achievement

Agree0 Disagree0

John who!

Agree0 Disagree0

We are Everton! What happened to Nil Satis Nisi Optimum? Something we should aspire to at all times

Agree0 Disagree0

John Barnes has always been the biggest whopper ever

He said himself he never felt English and would have played for whichever country he lived in

He squirmiest moment was when he was being filmed on a private box balcony watching England with Ian wright who loved england and wrighty was going mental as we scored etc and Barnes stood there not knowing what to do as he obviously just never felt the same about England - it was embarrassing to watch but totally showed Barnes for what he was - a 'lost' fake

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2013 07:39:55
Lets face it that could so easily not have been a win - they hit the bar, headed two or three just wrong side of post - had about 4 pinball lottery incidents in our area - their height caused us problems and we were getting muscled out of it again by dirty physical players

Our goal was a bit of a strange one off and not because 'it had been coming'

People will see 1-0 and think great but it wasn't great performance

It won't be good enough vs spurs and gunners etc

For me osman is not great he makes mistakes and is not dominant in midfield
I really thought we looked better when Barkley came on he is a better player now than Ossie because he never stops moving and has physical presence to match his skill - Barkley should start

Believable3 Unbelievable5

A wins a win be positive will u

Don't judge a player over one match, remember the Man City game? stop moaning and enjoy the good games. Osman is a good player.

Nothing strange about the goal, it was a great finish against possibly the best keeper in the league.
Begovic would be a great signing, looks like he is going to United, title is already over if he does.
His save from Jelavic's free-kick was top draw, not that the clueless ref noticed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares? We picked up the 3pts, I was much happier after the Stoke match, then I was, than for example Fulham, where our performance was amazing but we drew.

Good sides manage to get the 3pts even when they are playing poor.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

31 Mar 2013 00:22:02
Moyes had a brilliant game plan today, hopefully he will play the same team against Tottenham and get Heitinga to man mark bale, amazing goal today from Mirallas, Everton should really dig deep into their pockets and buy Lukaku or Benteke two complete animals in front of goal or even offload Fellaini and make sure we get Lukaku as he is the better out of the two and also buy a decent Left-Midfielder the a replacement for Pienaar when he gets past it which hopefully won't be anytime soon! COYB LET'S GET TO EUROPE

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I don't want to see that formation against spurs as Bale would have a field day with the amount of space there was in midfield today. It's one thing trying that formation against stoke, but against spurs no thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

100% agree, we would get destroyed by Spurs if we play the same formation we did yesterday. Thankfully for us, Stoke aren't the best footballing side and didn't really punish us, but Spurs will. We can't afford to give that amount of space to the likes of Bale and Lennon, because these players thrive on space.
