Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Just a quick. Word on Barton, he may have had a good season in France and may have matured! Or was he just too far away from his cronies back in merseyside.
IMO, trouble trouble trouble, let's not forget how he behaves when he's out in the city centre and he'd be a target for every person out there, and no matter what the circumstances I can only see shame for our great club. The club listens to the fans and I hope these messages convey the feelings of the majority of us
Simply NO!

A great quick video of how they transform a baseball stadium into a football pitch. I know it's american football but it's a pitch none the less.

Peter Reid never replaced we need a midfield destroyer (posted this am this guy has to get on his knees and apologise for the crude and indeed cruel way he has treated people in the past).
Yet I remember a player who head butted an apponent two feet away from a Scottish policeman!
Barton is not my choice but I fed up up with having principles and being liked as a 'nice 'club, if he can do a 'Reidy' job and let our class players (especially Barca kid do what they can do) go and get em!

I have to say to all the guys commenting that Joey Barton is cr*p are completely wrong. He was quite a good footballer when younger. He then seemed to get involved in every controversy possible.
People seem to forget he was very much in demand until he started fighting everyone.
Degsypulford {Ed025's Note - never been better than mediocre for me degs..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's been judged more in a court of law than on his ability and that for me is not what our great club is about.

He put a cigar in one Evertonians eye and showed his a*se to the Goodison crowd. That's how much of a blue he is.

Yep I've forgot how much in demand he was when he had a couple of good games but I didn't forget the sh*t he's done over the years to people and clubs he's been involved with.

i can not believe the amount of people saying they would take joey barton! forget the fact the guy is a total person, he isn't even that good. he doesn't score. doesn't really create. he just runs around with 100% passion (which is a good thing I know). However he is not in the same league as felli and gibson, osman is better, barkley has the potential and is 10+years younger. so for what possible reason would we want him. he's a blue, he'd give 100% blah blah blah. osman's a blue, barkley's a blue, gibbo was singing grand old team so clearly loves the club. all these players are better than barton and to date have not had any problems with the law and if they suddenly start, they have a long way to go to catch up with him. and away from football we are everton football club. we have standards, traditions and ethics and I for one would feel let down by all at everton football club if we even entertained the idea of barton joining us, and for barton to feel he is doing us a favour by taking a pay cut to play for us tells us the type of bloke he is.

1878barlow {Ed025's Note - spot on for me barlow mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree everton are way too good to be even mentioned with players like barton. would any top 10 premier side consider barton, not a chance. everton need young players. for me mc carthy is the type of player for everton. good class player who at 22 has learned his trade at Wigan and will only get better

Had a long think about Barton, was feelin the same not wanting that kn#b at the club then I thought we took big dunc and sign'd him when he had a stretch to do in nick That was a risk and if you asked Paul shwaner he would of said that dunc was a thug but we knew that he had wound dunc up all game, then we had felli last season against shawcross we algreed it was justified But still did't complain about the punishment. Barton was a total person For years however think he done alright in France wasn't to bad does have a bit about him on the pitch both good and bad for free with a wage cut then okay but only if it was put into contract offer that 1 piece of severe il'disipline then your on your bike Mr Barton and think that will be the end of your career, however he's worth the risk but only with the contract stipulation.

Lots of posts about Joey Barton. All I can say is that he used to be a very good footballer who lost the plot. Apparently he did well in France last season though. He is likely to get sent off once or twice. but so did Felli and a certain Uraguayan who apparently is worth 55 million. I would say it's up to Martinez, but I would bring him in for a medical, let him train with us for a week and take it from there. He may be a bit more mature now? Who knows? If he is, he will undoubtedly be worth a risk as a squad player. Ed025 I know you don't like him, but think logically as per my post and I am sure you will agree to some of it.
Degsypulford {Ed025's Note - for once i dont agree with any of it degs, for me it would devalue the credibility and respect people have for us, but thats just my opinion mate, others have theirs..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed but I still also think he is worth looking at. No more than that really. Peter Reid was a 2nd division injury prone has been when we signed him. Andy Gray had been written off too when we went for him. I would take a look and then if he looked like his old self from earlier days I would offer a rolling contract. No real risk to the club then. It's obvious he wants to come to the Blues. That's not the case with some players.

Why do people want Barton? Forgetting him being an insane negative influence and thug he's crap with little to no footballing ability who would probably give his all for us but would spend half his time in court/suspended if he wasn't a self publishing person, no one would know his name

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 18:37:39
. its a shame big dunc still wernt playing him and barton to tuff bad boys on the pitch.

if you look at the team at moment who looks the toughest player? I. M. O its either felli or gibson

You want tough try Steven Pienaar, one of the smallest players gets lumps kicked out of him every game by fellas twice his size, doesn't roll around, gets up and gets on with it without any reaction.
Add to that he's got to the top from the humblest of origins. That to me is tough!

On the whole joey Barton talk, remember before he totally ruined any respect he had from anyone, he was a damn good player, his level of play I would take every day of the week, but if we gave him the chance to prove himself and he ruined that chance, I don't think anyone at goodison would forgive themselves and we certainly wouldn't forgive easily, what do you reckon ed? Cjtefc1993 {Ed025's Note - you know my views on him Cjt..

So Barton is a possibility? Question for you guys. Would you be happy if Barton signed, and we had £15m left to buy another striker, or would you rather £15m on McCarthy?

I'd go for Barton I'm afraid.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd go for Barton as well. I think we all know 15m is too much for McCarthy

Agree0 Disagree0

McCarthy would represent a sound investment for £15m. He's still just 22 learning the game and will get better with age. He's a top class player right now and unless something went drastically awry we'd see at least a £20m return on him.
He will be one of the best all round midfielders in the game in a few years if he can impose himself on games a little more.
And he doesn't get involved in all the carry on Barton does.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 17:09:20
Ok i'm not going on the bases barton is a thug for this. I'm going on purely football reason's. He isn't a game changer. His passin and ball skill and technically isn't the best. Doesn't seem to score many goals or even get in positions. Brings passion hard work and bite yes but we will have that anyway from the clearly better players that are here already and we're movin away from just havin that sort of team. To me the lad is not good enough and that's really all that it needs in this argument

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 15:14:12
I personally believe if we could get joey Barton on a rolling 6 month 35k a week contract wed have a good player who run through a brick wall for everton yes he's a liabillaty at times but on a 6 month rolling contract if he misbehaves it could be torn up at anytime well worth a punt IMO imagine him felli and Gibson in a 3 man midfield scary ha :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Barton, are you mad! He is always getting in to trouble, we would never have someone like that in our team. Oh wait a minute! And look how that certain individual is seen by the fans now, legend I think we call him and he still works for us now! Come on guys get a grip, Barton is a good footballer and has a passion for the club.

Would set the club's fight against racism back 20 years.
Aside from that there is his behaviour when out in town. Anyone else would still be inside.
His behaviour towards a young Evertonian with a cigar.
His tedious tweets.
That strange french accent.
His showing his arse to the GP crowd.
He's +30 and not the greatest passer of a ball.
Just what we need!

Agree0 Disagree0

As Big Nev said "we've already got a Kitman " Pmsl. :-))

Run forest Run!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm mixed raced and I really don't see the need to bring racism into the argument. Of all the things Barton has done I don't think any of them has been racially motivated so how would him signing him set the clubs fight against racism back?! you're spouting crap. {Ed025's Note - i agree, he was not part of the tragedy that happened to anthony walker, it was his relation, and he did condemn it..

Agree0 Disagree0

He offered my mates lad £50 to pour a can of coke all over his own head once! That's the type of guy we are dealing with here. Full of his own self importance and sneering at anyone he thinks are below him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 14:19:13
Manny Fernandes? 27, we have fond memories of him and he is in last year of contract at Besiktas so would be cheap. Linked with Sunderland. Would be less of a risk than 15 mill on McCarthy or any kind of Barton deal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just think nasty thug enough said.

Agree0 Disagree0

Decent shout that. Showed moments of brilliance in short time he was with us but is he the same player after journeying around when he could have just signed for us years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 14:09:13
Joey Barton. On one hand, nasty thug who causes nothing but trouble everywhere he goes. On other hand, decent player on his day who has never played for the one club he actually cares about. Do we give him that chance? I'm 50/50. But that's more down to the fact I'm a sucker for players who publicly state their love for the club. Heart says give him a chance, head is screaming, ARE YOU MAD?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 13:48:26
Goin on about joey barton. 35k and on a free. What about the belgian powerhouse malanda. 18yr old not 30. available on a free and probably not even close to 35k a week. So he loves the club, big deal. I love the club but aren't asking for 35k off em. Be realistic. his moved to marseille failed to materialise and he got nothing else. stay at qpr then and cause trouble there

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 13:44:37
All the players really look as though they are enjoying the training in the USA. Felli does'nt look like a player who want's to leave the club, hoping he and Bainesy are staying. kk.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 13:33:34
Everyone is saying no to Barton he's an person etc agreed he is an person but the story is supposedly true why would we want to chase players like tom ince bad attitudes an in it for money when we could have some1 who would do everything he could on the pitch for the team he loves! he's not a bad player an if he keeps his nose clean he could be a great player for us. I know i'd die to wear the blue shirt an play at Goodison so maybe Barton is showing what it means to be a blue take a pay cut just for the chance to do that! and just remember 1 winner vs the reds he's an instant hero

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 13:12:06
I can't help but feel if he's willing to prove his worth we should give Barton a chance. 1 year pay-as-you-play deal, starts acting like a t*t and we can easily get rid.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2013 12:29:16
Personally I would take Barton. You have to ask yourself, will he Improve our squad?YES, would he give everything in a blue shirt?YES, can you go wrong with a wage cut and a free transfer?NO. What are your opinions? {Ed025's Note - steer well clear is mine..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This is a hard one, logic says stay well away, the man have proved himself to be a total person time after time. He could be totally disruptive to the squad. He may be a decent player, he may give 100% for us and offering to take such a pay cut does show commitment to the club, even so my initial reaction is no thanks Joey.

However, I am not our manager, and Robbie is not a fool, he knows what he would be taking on, if he thinks he can get the best out of him and that the risk is worth taking then I would have to back that decision much as I may disagree with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

barton on a free or mccarthy 15 million, no brainer BARTON

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No chance mc carthy 22, will only get better,. barton is not for everton. everton have a great etho based on hard work and respect for each other. why get him his track record is based on himself,. mc carthy is a class player who only will get better. barton is a self absorbed beaut if he wanted to play for everton for half his wages why go public about it. everton are past takin chances on crackpots who only cause trouble ie drenthe, van der Meyde. barton at everton, what happened to marseille. tell him and his agent to piss off

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to agree with BARTON for free over McCarthy for 15m ( and I also think that Joeys a liability). But like others are saying if we put him on a six month rolling contract it can be torn up if he misbehaves. Saves spending far too much of our transfer funds on one player that is most definately not worth 15m+. If we give them that sort of money Dave Whealen will be laughing all the way to the bank. He would of ripped us off! No brainer for me aswell tht one

Cant believe all the people who are in favor of giving Joey Barton a crack at the whip if all the rumours are to be believed. It doesn't matter how much he wants in wages the at the end of the day he on his own is capable of ruining a club like ours no matter what clauses are in his contract. Stay well clear of him I say far too much trouble!

The initial thought of Barton in a blue shirt sickened me. But after a while of it sinking in, I'm starting to think; why not give it a go? 2 cm's left at the end of the season. We could replace one with McCarthy or Diame and the other with Ibrahim or Barton. He's a weird one Barton, but he could possibly add to the team on a free with half wages. And surely the passion he has shown for the club to take half wages must count for something. I think we should sign McCarty, if not Diame, and also Ibrahim and Barton. Loan Ibrahim out to someone like Cardiff and sign Barton on a 1 year deal. We would hve a great player, a sqaud pleyer snd a promising young lad.

Are some of our fans happy being 'also-rans'?

Joey Barton is a very good player and a box to boxer - which is what we need.

Everton does not have anywhere near financial power of other clubs so we can't be as choosy.

If he's keen to come and play for a club he actually supports then we could use that passion.

All you have to do is write into his contract that any funny stuff at all - even in training or to the staff or whatever - and he's gone.

Simple and effective - we get a good box to boxer who loves the club and he keeps his nose clean.

Is he not on a free? With wages at 35k he would be cost effective.

If we're going to take McCarthy at 12m plus say 60k wages, we could have the equivalent player in Barton and then the 12m on a top striker AS WELL.

We're not here to be nicey nicey losers, we're here to compete - other clubs have got problem players like Ballotelli or tevez or Suarez and they win stuff.
I reckon Barton would love to play for us and bust a gut every game - and if it's in his contract not to misbehave the one thing he won't do is misbehave.

If he does we've lost nothing by giving him a chance. {Ed025's Note - how about dignity..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

B******* mate, he is a liability. People like him cannot help themselves, they don't just flick a switch and "behave" He will cause massive unrest in the dressing room, he'll be out on the lash in town causing girders of a weekend and he will be getting sent off left right and centre and banned for massive amounts of games at a time.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's more about how he would be in the dressing room, we don't need a distraction or someone who has too much to say that unsettles all the other players. I would love the footballer Barton, but not the circus he is!

EverTheOptermistic

Agree0 Disagree0

So just say to him - "Joey, you came to us - if you want to play for us you have to agree to these 6 points before we even start - no this, no that, no the other, - then. no ifs, no buts, and no maybes - are you still interested?"
I imagine he would agree to whatever we say because this is his last chance

as soon as he breaks any of those rules and does any of the things you've mentioned above - then he's out and it's cost us nothing

easy

if we had a choice between winning stuff and some so called dignity - (other clubs have bad boys too remember), I personally would take a few rough diamonds as long as they came with some silverware.

And he is an Evertonian remember - that might make all the difference to him and his attitude.

We need to win SOMETHING and we can't compete on the money side - so chances like this might be worth taking?

(pay him on a per game or per results basis or something - that should focus his mind)

Agree0 Disagree0

Cannot say disagree. Barton is good player until he start making himself into trouble by people hitting, crazy tackle or referee argue.

No No, Please God no. Don't let Everton show any interest in that animal Barton. {Ed025's Note - im with you micky..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Stop sucking up to Ed. Barton would be a great player for us let's go out and only buy players who are nice shall we? I say sign Barton up, just imagine him in the derby!

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget sucking up to anyone. think of it this way. if you had your own company and a prospective employee with that record came to you. you would nt hire him. however just because its a footballer you would take him. as for 50% wage cut. if I earned 70 k I also could afford a 50% pay cut. the lads a menace. so the answer should be do-one. Bluejay

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm thinking about him in the Derby and I see "sent off" written all over it. I cannot believe how desperate some of our fans are to make a signing, seems like anyone will do. Joey Barton is a t**head he'll cause trouble even if he tries his best not to. it's in him. Definately a massive MASSIVE no for me.

We should buy McCarthy from Wigan but pay the £5-6m that he is worth.
We can add in some extra incentive installments like:

Win the Prem an extra £5m.
Win the FA Cup an extra £3m.
Win League Cup an extra £2.5m.
Win Champions League an extra £10m.
Score 30 league goals in a season an extra £2.5m.

That should keep Whelan happy and did you know that Whelan once broke his leg in an FA Cup final?

Andy The Chef. {Ed025's Note - love it andy..
