Well tomorrow is another big game. A win can see us move to within 7 points of 4th. Which is Liverpool. We also move closer to Arsenal and Spurs.

This is the time to make the most of slip ups from others and give the players something to fight for.

Who knows blues Europe is not out ofcthe window yet.

I totally agree BlueJohn imagine sky and Bt having to start including us in the the fight for 4th, jesus they might have to retrain some of the presenters so they know we exist.

Transfer windows are all about improving the squad and boy have we improved it. Looks good that we are not scrambling around at the last minute to buy someone. Plenty of the old guard shifted as well.
Now for a win against Stoke tomorrow and continue the momentum.

We may be short of cover at full back or wing back but hopefully we can get through to the summer and really strengthen then.
It does, however, allow us to blood more yougsters which has to be good for the club now and in the future, let's take advantage of being out of the cups and build the foundations for a new era of success

Great business done early! Wow what a clear out! Deadline day another damp squib yet again even sky can't make it interesting, thank god for football fixtures tonight!
No top clubs in the market yet again, I think we should feel positive for the rest of the season!

Sort of agree but still feel we needed a strong proven Striker to compete with Rom and cover him for the rest of the Season if we really are going for a Euro spot

I watched the u23 last night. Koeman was at the game Donkor is so big strong great feet he isn't your normal 17 year old. I wouldn't be suprised if koeman thought if we so get an injury he's a decent gamble Save the cash. I agree another proven striker would have been sweet. We will be all right.

Even though I am a crusty old fart, and might not be around to see it. I have to say How impressed I am by the young talent being brought into the club. I know everyone wants to see big signings etc, but we are quietly building a really strong under 23 squad.

I truly believe that within three years these boys will have us challenging for top honours. The future is definitely bright, just got to hang around long enough to see it. 🙏

Everyone seems to think we have a 'new Abramovich' but there was a recent post showing the 'rich list' of Premiership owners and we were about 14th. Even sunderland were richer than us. Chill out and let the professionals do their job, and we'll do ours cheering on the sidelines.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is of no matter how much money the owners themselves have, it is what and how they are looking to invest in the club - which is a different matter entirely.}

31 Jan 2017 17:38:31
But with FFP involved we can only go so far can't we? Can all this 'we have 200 million' be viable as, even though Moshiri has supposedly said this (I haven't heard this) and maybe can afford it, does it not go on percentages of income what we can actually spend?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Generally yes.}

31 Jan 2017 17:47:12
Ed002, I'm genuinely not looking for a debate (due to my responses) but how do you mean genuinely? What are the ways around it as I feel everyone is waiting for an (unreasonabe) spending spree

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - If a club wishes to declare new investrment and additional spending it can be notified to UEFA by December 31 of the year before it is planned to happen and UEFA will conduct a due diligence activity and approve the request or not. This is a temporary rule introduced that investment in "smaller" sides could be maintained.}

31 Jan 2017 18:24:46
Thanks Ed. Makes sense I guess. Let's the little man catch up with the big boys. Enjoy the rest of your evening spotting Riquelme and Yarmelenko at Lime Street waiting for a taxi.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Thanks man.}

31 Jan 2017 17:24:39
Still some fans unhappy? What calibre of players do you think we should be signing? If you are saying players to push for a European place, then I agreed with you, but who exactly is available in January? Think we did remarkably well. getting Schneiderlin before an auction happened in the summer, but can you name another one or two?
Also, everyone seems to think we have a 'mew Abramovich'

Believable1 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2017 17:40:56
So your unhappy with how the club is progressing Kingo78?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 18:28:08
No. I'm over the moon. Finally an honest manager, back staff who know what they're doing, Rhino and others doing a terrific job outside the first team, an owner prepared to put his money where his mouth is. Can't grumble with any of that. Just get annoyed with some fans expecting a team of Messis etc 'because it's easy on Championship Manager or Fifa'

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 17:03:04
Can't see anyone else signing 2day, usually there's are rumours about players that might be coming, but nothing so far, it's on with season with players with got, which I'm pleased with coyb

If Wayne Rooney goes to China for big money do Everton get 25% of the fee?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2017 15:48:28
Is this window a missed opportunity?
I feel maybe were missing the one chance we have of spending big, maybe over the odds to get quality players in as the Big Guns aren't buying this window. Come the Summer window we will be battling with the Big Guns and more than likely no Europe as a carrott either. So in effect the Summer window is going to be harder to attract quality, that we need. Just my thoughts. happy to listen to other views to change my mind.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Everton spent big - Schneiderlin and Lookman. Your expectations are I assume based on the £200M per window or whatever all of the fans are convinced Moshiri said in the summer - you need to get real.}

31 Jan 2017 15:58:02
Its not my expectations but the Clubs too, as we all heard in the GM. All i'm saying is the targets we have and RK has alluded to them will be harder to get in the Summer due to competition and that we won't be in Europe. Wasnt expecting a naggy reply like "i need to get real"! bit harsh that.

Agree0 Disagree3

31 Jan 2017 16:37:56
Over 30m we have spent. Honestly I don't get some people. Everyone, from managers to pundits to owners comment on how hard it is to buy quality in January. Although throwing money about makes it easier, it's still h difficult. Plus, over paying for players does more than lowing our bank balance, it adds pressure on the player, the manager and the club. Plus teams will begin to learn that we are happy over paying and start to hold us to ransom

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 16:40:16
I believe that we have done really well in the window which is a difficult time to recruit. We have got two first team squad players in and got a few of the players who are not needed transferred to other teams. Their is absolutely no need to recruit players who are no better than the ones we already have, we need to take our time over the next few windows and only get in those players who will improve us and at the same time continue to sell those players who are surplus to requirements. The fact that we have several of the kids making a big impact on the first team adds to the mix. Can you imagine what we would have had to pay for Davies or Holgate if they had played for other teams and we had bought them in this window!

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 16:41:59
If you consider the top six big guns and they all bought 2 players that's 12 players, I'm sure there will still be some left for Everton!

Champs league gives the best odds of signing top players until we are there we will not compete for this level of player, I would think we are looking good and the future is bright at this time.
How many players have the big guns bought in this window?

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 16:45:18
Good answers. Still think it will be harder to get our quality targets in the next Window though, mainly because of the No Europe issue.

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Jan 2017 16:47:02
They are harder in January Howie. Clubs fighting relegation are desperate for players. Selling Clubs know the desperation of some ergo, prices go up. Moshri may be wealthy but League/ Fifa/ Euefa rules on finance still have to be followed.

Everton also intend to begin on a new Stadium. Koeman and Staff have been in the job 6 months only, I would say given that short time frame we have progressed excellently. And how many quality players do you honestly think are available at this stage of the season. Finally look at the transfer ladder money spent, Everton are at the top.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 17:15:48
Agreed, i said in an earlier post that i think the squad is reasonably strong bar the Striker options. However its not me but the Club and RK who have said they have Targets or a list as i heard said the other day, so we are looking at spending big ny their own admissions. Just wonder if in the Summer without Europe and competition to buy the targets it might be just harder.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jan 2017 17:17:37
Why the no Europe issue, until it is impossible, we still have a chance, it's not like we are 9 points behind with only 4 games to go, all that is needed is a run of wins and others to slip, let's not forget the great Everton side of 86 who let a 12 point lead slip, can happen to any team, anytime.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 17:19:53
I agree Howie that a striker is needed by the club. As you say though it is tough in January and it's rare you get quality being allowed to leave a club.

As for not having Europe. We're closer than you think.

We can still catch the teams above us. Also if United win the league cup and a top 6 side wins the fa cup (5 still in it) it will go to 7th place.

All to play for.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 17:25:51
Can only hope on ifs n buts n maybes. If we do get Europe by hook or by crook, then the targets are definately on, but i fear its a slim chance we get Europe. Great optimism though, good on ya!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - What targets are these?}

31 Jan 2017 17:26:28
Our Red neighbours have got Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Leicester away, coming up, they are catchable, Spurs, Arsenal, City and Chelsea tougher to catch but you just never know.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 17:42:17
No idea Ed, its the Club that has used the terms target and list, whilst admitting to Keane being a target.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 22:00:12
There you go Arsenal Spurs, Liverpool all dropping points, win tomorrow and game on, Arsenal away to Chelsea at the weekend so don't give up n that champs league spot just yet, big ask but you just never know.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 15:37:07
If we are to get Keane the only way it will be done this transfer window is if we pay them now and he stays there till the summer. That's my thinking anyway

Believable1 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2017 14:36:55
Just seen a link saying we might let Lennon leave as well, now I no we need to have a good clear out but surely we need to replace them as we go along, only takes a couple of injuries and loses to change the whole feel of the team, just look across the park, couple of players out now they can't win to save there lives, funny as it is, don't want us to be in the same boat,

Deadline Day - Everton

Tumbleweed

Relatively happy with the squad tho bar Striker options.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

31 Jan 2017 14:22:47
I agree. I think Koeman is right to wait for the right players.

We can make do until the summer. Joel is in good form so we aren't desperate for a goalkeeper, we could probably do with a centre back if we are going to continue with 5 at the back, but Barry and the returning Besic can cover if we are desperate. Similarly we can always move players around to cover Baines at left back. We have plenty of quality in the middle of the park, and a few wingers to choose from. We even have a combination of Mirallas, Lookman, Calvert-Lewin and Valencia to cover Lukaku if needs be.

Goals were a worry without Lukaku but our defenders and midfielders have started scoring so we have enough cover for all but the worst injuries.

31 Jan 2017 14:23:15
I'm happy as well Howie off work today and usually I'm glued to the TV but today getting on with stuff, maybe a few outs but roll on tmw night and 3 points against stoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 14:41:21
My only concern about the Summer, is all the Big Guns will be buying then so it becomes harder especially if we haven't got Europe as a carrott. I think this window was a chance to spend big on quality as none of the Big Guns are interested in buying.

Even though deadline is at 11pm tonight, I think, with matches on tonight, we'll have a big clue what's happening amongst English clubs at least, by 7pm. For example, will Keane be selected tonight? If so, I doubt he'll be staying put until the summer (I think he'll stay) . So get your detective hats on people. Think there'll be a few big shouts early on tonight.

Here is a thought. if we bought Keane. then maybe Jags is surplus to requirements? If that could happen, perhaps we could offer Jags, Kone and a decent fee to Burnley? Then they get a center half, a center forward and money. and we get the player Koeman seems to want. Sounds like a win win situation to me. for Burnley and us.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2017 10:57:04
Sounds good to me Degsy but i don't think many Burnley fans will have your enthusiasm. If im honest i think Jagielka may go but only on loan. i can't see him joining a team that could still possibly get relegated. Another thought is if we do happen to get european football next season i would definitely like Jagielka as a squad player if he can accept that.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 11:29:29
Like your thinking Degsy, but would imagine what with all the admin involved it would not happen this lose to the window closing. Players have to want it, agents have to be happy with each players deal, and clubs have to agree fees. If Bill and co could get all that done on the last day then that would be very impressive.
