Aidan McGeady will be the first player signed by us in Jan, deal is done mark my words. For what its worth he is very inconsistent player.Beats men for fun but couldn't cross his legs and has a very poor goalscoring record.Seen him in action a lot at Celtic and for the republic of Ireland.

As another poster put it, Lukaku always seems to be commenting on things and I for one have no problem with that!
But I am very confused with his recent comments such as 'I'm going back to Chelsea at the end of the season' and 'We are as good as Chelsea and are capable of winning the Prem!'
Brilliant lad but what happens if we do? Will you go from the Champions, back to a less successful club?
All the very best for 2014 eds and fellow blues.

{Ed007's Note - Happy New Year Mushy.}

Hes a chelsea player, he's advised what to say and has no reason to burn bridges with the club that owns him

Happy New Year. Let's run the table in 2014. Fortune willing top 3 with the Mancs and the Reds on the outside looking in.

And keep Barkley and Baines and Barry. Jags and Delo back for the Derby.

Michy Bakugan ( Batshuayi ) is very talented and is ok for me as a long term replacement for Lukaku, but I think we need someone like Dembele or Essien, both are available and at least Demebele is in top form ( for those who saw last match Tottenham 3-0 Stoke ), experience is what proved to be our mark in terms of midfield this season, and that's what we should build on. Cheers to the Ed's, a big salute for the Evertonians! Have a great year!

I'm hoping for as good a January transfer window as we had in the summer.
Remember how many posters slammed the loan signing of Barry and the £13M spent on McCarthy - haven't they both been brilliant. Then, there's the loans of Lukaku and Deulofeu - two young diamonds.
Even Alcaraz looked the business the other day.
Robles has pushed Howard to a consistently high level this season.
That just leaves Kone, whose injury has prevented him from a regular chance.
Add in the great money we took for Fellaini and Anichebe and how can we complain. We definitely finished the window stronger - our performances and results have surely proved that.
So, is there anyone out there still with doubts - even though it's admittedly early days in the overall scheme of things - about the appointment of Roberto Martinez as Everton manager?
Happy New Year to all!

Haha piece of brilliance by Martinez in his press conference. When asked was he aware of a 50 million pound bid coming from Utd for Barkley he laughed and said 50 million, no were not looking to loan out Ross Barkley quality from the gaffer. On a serious note he also said Everton will be a stronger team come the end of January with the possibility of two new players coming in hope they are real gems.

It's typical that despite RM's clear "guarantees" about transfers, the journos still publish the gormless speculation about LB and RB. For the first time in a very long time, we don't have to transfer players out because of financial reasons, but can make those decisions for footballing reasons alone. With the long-term injuries to Gibson and Kone plus the desire of Heitinga and Jelavic to play regularly (understandable in a World Cup year) and that meaning them going elsewhere, it'll be interesting to see who we bring in that'll leave the squad stronger at the end of the January transfer window.

Happy BLUE Year Chris

So, what would a happy new year be for Everton? What's the best that you realistically expect come the end of the season?
For me, a top four finish is possible and at least a top six finish is odds-on. An FA Cup run depends on the draw, but we've as good a chance as most.
Either way: Happy New Year!

{Ed025's Note - being in the thick of the action at the top, thats all i have ever wanted, that plus being entertained, and the plaudits from pundits and other clubs makes me really proud..happy new year to bobby, bill, the team, and evertonians everywhere..

lukaku saying in the telegraph that 'everton should not be shy in title hopes' as the big Belgian believes everton can go above his parent club Chelsea and win the premier league, this is what I like to see from the players! aiming big. think it shows a lot about lukaku for us now aswell, always screaming for the ball in games and aiming big, love it!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lukaku says a lot mate to be honest I wish he would just shut up and get on with his football every week he has had something to say either about us or Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree about wishing that players would stop talking a good game and started delivering every week. To be fair, Everton players have delivered this season, so can't really complain. Besides, we all crave every scrap of news and gossip about our club ;-)

Just wanted to say I was worried when Martinez took over, I'm eating my hat now what a great season its been so far, let's hope we can continue and add a few good signings in the window

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's the right one, he's the bright one, he's Martinez!
