Whoever we bring in next hope there will be some pace. because the way defences are set up now, we need players who can take on someone to create space in congested areas. we have sandro and lookman. but they may not start together. all defences hate combatting pace and Bolasie won't be back for a while, and Coleman's runs will be missed. The reds now have mane and salah. just hope we are going to have that option from the whistle. That will help rooney to link play.

Getting really tired of the whole sig saga now we should do what the red s%#&e did and withdraw tell them to keep him and they can carry on buying players for 3-5 mil cous that's all they can aford.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its the way of the football world now im afraid mashie, they are just doing what we have done for years by setting unrealistic prices for players to ward off suitors mate..

30 Jul 2017 19:42:51
Its all got out of hand guys 50 million for a good player people saying pay the money after all its not coming out of my pocket. well next time you pay for sky sports when they put up the price of season tickets, the pint at the ground your programs it is actually coming out of your pocket family of four to watch 90 minutes of football going to cost you close to £100 then you can see how it works . still want the club to pay 50 million for a 20 million pound player.

30 Jul 2017 20:09:20
Well put Mashie02. Some people think the money comes straight out of thin air!

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 20:10:53
It's never changed mashie. People have always moaned about the price of players. Even in the 70's, 80s and 90s it was still the same.

We were known as the mersey millionaires not because we had a couple of mil in the bank but because we used to pay big money and break transfer records.

There were big moans about Blackburn and Chelsea then Real Madrid and Barcelona soon after it was Monaco and PSG.

It's just football and no different to any other season.

30 Jul 2017 20:48:00
It has changed mate the working man could afford to watch football now we are priced out of going to the match I am self employed I can't justify the cost of taking the family to watch the game unless we make sacrifices then watch the millionaire footballers climb into there Ferraris after a poor game I was there at the Coventry game wathing grown men crying when scraped though on goal difference it broke my heart I haven't been back to goodison since.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - its time you went back mashie when you can afford it mate..

30 Jul 2017 21:07:28
To be fair Mashie Everton have kept control of ticket prices and everybody still has a chance of going to the match. Europa league match was 25 adults and 5 for kids.

They do the same for some early rounds in the league and fa cup matches as well. Add that to the early bird prices for the season tickets were for kids it works out at 7 per game and about 15 to 20 for adults. It would have been the same price in the early 90s. They now offer it by direct debit as well so you can pay over the course of the year.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 21:24:16
They have mate in certain games you want to take the family to watch us against united or Chelsea be prepared to pay I know life moves on things cost more each year I have followed the blues since I was 6 my whole family are reds money has ruined are game wait till the new stadium is built see how much a game costs then I really like moshiri but he's a business man and he wants to make money can't blame him for that he's not here for a charity case.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 01:09:55
Ok we will just carry on buying players for 5/ 10 mill, and watch the top six get further and further away then shall we. Oh and by the way, while the boys at the top keep driving up the prices we will still pay more anyway. So at least try and keep up.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 16:17:34
Everton have been better than most when it comes to ticket prices. However, given the money that has gone into football from broadcasting over the last 10 years, every supporter, whether they support, Hartleypool united or man united, should be walking into a brand new ground, 10 for adult 5 for kids, the greed of player, the leaches of agents, have sucked the money out of the pockets of ordinary people, to the point where many just cannot afford to go any longer. I know it is fraught with difficulties, but as no one club can stand alone without falling behind, it really is time for a wages cap.

What is everyone's preferred line up for next season, I know we will have a lot of games but I would be thinking about having a cup team and a prem team I'm not saying play a different 11 altogether but players like Barry I don't see to many starts in prem, I just don't want to be seeing to many playing Thursday then Sunday and also throw Tuesday cup games as well, I know you need a big squad but you have to balance it without whole sale changes personally I would like us to have a league cup team bit like Arsenal did few years back playing kids,
We have a lot that are too good at u23 level but not likely to play 1st team like Dowell.

The beauty now Blue is I couldn't tell you who the best 11 or even 18 we have.

So much talent coming through and the additions we are making it makes it so tough.

If I had to:

Pickford GK

Cuco RB until Coleman returns but would also try Kenny in home games to get him used to the Prem.

Jags and Keane CB. Jags is better than Williams in my opinion. He worries me.

Baines LB. How do we replace this guy. It scares me that we will have to soon. Legend.

Barry and Gueye or Snids and Davies CM I don't think Gueye and Snids can play together. They both move the ball too slow and don't get forward quick enough so they need either Barry with his quick forward passing which is quite good or Davies with his mobility.

Lookman LM and Kev RM. We are limited in options here I think. I wish Dowell was a season older as he could go into one of the positions.

Klasson or Sig num 10. If we get Sig then Sig. I hope Rooney is just unfit. If not he is not good enough to start in this team. Klasson has goals in him but needs to get those passes quicker into people's feet. They were too slow on Thursday. However, he should have had a hatrick.

Num9 is Sandro. He looks a class act with bags of pace. However, he's the only one with genuine pace. If I was Koeman I'd be looking for 1 or 2 wingers with similar speed although he also holds the ball up very well unlike another num9 we used to have.

There's good cover in most positions and enough to tackle all comps.

From yours BlueJohnUns I would change RB to Holgate. For me he is defiantly worth his place there until Coleman comes back. If not I'd try him at CB. Worth giving as much chance there as Jags or Williams imho.

Gana and Schneid will work for me they just need some more time together.

I'd have Rooney in midfield along with Klaassen and Kev with Lookman being introduced regularly depending on who needs to be took off in each game.

With that you have quality players on the bench. Barry with wealth of experience, Stek for goals, Davies, McCarthy, then Lookman, Martina and Besic.

Squad looking very strong compared to last season. Koeman will get them to gel with time. They need to be given the space and time to work it out.

30 Jul 2017 21:02:43
I think rk may go for a flexible formation. Maybe even 3 at the back like

Pickford

Holgate jags Keane

Coleman (cuco) baines

Geuye Schneiderlin

Rooney (or sig) klassen

Sandro

Width provided by wing backs and Rooney (or sig) and klassen floating, moving and finding pockets og space to feed sandro.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 22:23:58
Actually geoffjohno I rather the look of yours. I had thought about that formation before and for some reason forgot about it earlier. Thank you for reminding me.

It looks like that might be the team RK will eventually go with. Not much width but a strong well balanced team. It explains why wingers didn't and seem won't feature for Everton this transfer window even with Bolaise out.

When you look at the bench there would be with that team we have improved the quality of the squad in bucket loads.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 23:15:23
It's crazy to think there are so many options now. I also think Gana and Snids can play together with more time and to be honest you'd expect them to as they are both quality in my eyes.

I love Davies mobility though and we don't have anyone else like him in the team. That ability to take it from the back to front and able to finish it off as well.

Just hope we stop using Calvert as a winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 00:41:53
I know its only one game in for us, but based on what I know previously and what I saw the other night, I would rather Martina stayed on the bench. I'd prefer that Kenny deputised until Coleman comes back, but Holgate would suffice. I'd personally like to see Holgate at CB with Keane but I think Kenny at RB and Holgate at CB is a bit too much so Jags should partner Keane in the centre (I prefer Kenny to Holgate because he's a natural right back) . Pickford and Baines pick themselves.

We have the most competition in midfield but I like a middle 3 of Gana, Schneiderlin and Davies. Davies is good going forward and has lots of energy and I don't want to leave him out as he's going to be a star.

Up front is harder as there are so many new or inexperienced faces. Judging from what I've seen so far I would play Rooney in the middle with Sandro out wide cutting in, with one of Mirallas/ Lookman/ Dowell on the other side depending on form.

Luckily we have a lot of options to adapt our formation when necessary.

I feel that gylfi is a bargain at 50mil if matic is worth 40 mil. I know its all relative but gylfi will help create especially from set pieces.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

30 Jul 2017 14:30:29
I know 50 mill is a lot but how many times have we made other clubs pay the price we wanted for a player. If we want to compete with the big boys we have to pay the step up and show the money.

Let me guess Lance, you’re going to “taps nose” next.

Gylfi wants to join, we can see it in his actions. Whereas Giroud is making no noises other than he wants to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place. Sorry guys but don’t get your hopes up on this one.

30 Jul 2017 12:18:13
Don't think they really want Siguurdson now. If they did why not just pay the £50 Mill. Instead if it is a true rumour what is the point of player plus cash offer. It has taken on the infantile game of one upmanship as far as I can see.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

30 Jul 2017 11:14:53
Rumours that Watford are interested in Lennon. Hope (and I'm sure we will) either let him go on a free or are very reasonable with any fees. Can't see it doing him any good sitting in the stands if he could be playing instead. He's always done his best when he's played and I believe we should allow him to go if that's what he wants.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2017 15:41:47
On his day he's as good as anyone, just a bit on the small side and not consistent, be sad to see players who you can see give there all leave, but for him I can see why it would be better to be playing every week.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 16:24:05
If this move helps him then I’d love the club to work hard to do the deal for him. Everton are class and I’d love him to have good memories of playing for us every time he runs out to Z Cars at Watford. His happiness must come first here.

Anybdy else worried about TO MANY signings . a lot of round pegs for square holes at the moment i feel . How long will it take to find the right combo? . iv seen teams struggle to intergrate 3 new players Let alone 8 an possibly 3 more to come . I can honestly say i can't name my prefered starting 11 . An when i do i worry about its Pace . don't get me wrong . what a AMAZING dilemma we have an IMO the best manager for the job . I just think any push for europe could have to wait for 2nd half of the season . @ Ed what would your prefered starting 11 be Sir?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i see the same problems as you mick and thats why i have been asking for patience from supporters and for less of the knee jerk reactions, we have a really hard start mate and it will take a bit of time and experiment before we see the team at its best, i will refrain from naming my preferred 11 until we have finished recruiting if thats ok but i believe there is no place for the likes of mirallas, calvert lewin, lennon besic or mccarthy in our first team, not to mention williams and funes mori..

30 Jul 2017 09:52:41
I agree, I think because we are blues that we have forgotten how to enjoy the moment, rather than looking for the catches!
My team to date would be:

Pickford
Keane
Holgate
Kenny
Baines
Gana
Schniedlin
Klassen
Sandro
Rooney
Davis

Still believe we need a creative playmaker, new centre back and striker.

30 Jul 2017 10:06:54
Ed025 You are spot on with that assessment. If you want to be top four. You need to be ruthless and these players are mid table players.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a couple could be decent back up players spennie but our first 11 must be of superior quality, sentiment must be put aside and only players with a future at the club should receive squad status imo mate..

30 Jul 2017 11:12:00
Great question above. Personally, I'd keep besic. his problem has been injuries, but for me the lad has talent. I'd give him a season to prove it. Mirallas, has talent but seems to be a bit of a sulker. not sure how he'll react to a part on bench. Williams is the weakest in our defense imo. he was great at Swansea but average to poor since arriving at Everton. I'd rather play jags or give one of the yound lads a crack. hopefully browning or Galloway can make step up next year. Regarding starting 11. Gana and Schneiderlin all day. Tom Davies should be there for now also. and I've seen enough of Sandro to think he should be there. baines also but all other places I can't decide.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 11:59:06
The thing is to be successful on all four fronts we will need not a best 11 but a best 18-20. We can’t possibly go through the season focusing on just 11 players. If you look at what the top six are doing you will see what our tactic is too. The main thing is not so much identifying the best but how to keep them all fresh and happy during squad rotation.

Remember the league cup starts early in the season (later for us if we are still in Europe) so we will need to use a large squad very early and that’s where I see some of the fringe players mentioned above being very important to us. That’s what the top six will be doing. So to make it a top 7, we will have to do the same.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ur right Toffee. and that's one thing I have to credit RM with. he always talked about bringing right characters in. so hopefully RKand SW are doing just that.

30 Jul 2017 12:57:06
I think Davies is a good enough, and needs to be playing regular premier league football this season. He is going to be a great player and I don't want his progress to stagnate to accomodate new signings.

Fortunately I believe that Koeman has set up the squad so that he can rotate the midfield tactically depending on who we are playing. I also know Koeman gives the most in form players a run in the team so will give Davies a chance if he performs.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 18:13:23
Thing is, if we get gilfi and say for arguments sake Giroud, what would your team look like then, who would you drop out to start with, I would keep sandro, klaasson on the bench to start with, these guys have to adapt to the premiership and we don't want to give games away, give them a few sub appearances till there up to speed, still with gilfi, Rooney and hopefully Giroud or someone like him, it would be a very good team.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would start sandro all the time heart as i think this guy could be amazing, i might also interchange klaassen and rooney as well and perm any 2 of davies, gana and spyder playing behind gylfi, with giroud up top...i wont mention the defence as we wont need one mate.. :)

Ed just curious,

We all know every club has a list of players for each position for transfer target.

How high on the list in each position do u think (opinion) each of our signings where as of yet. Also include GS.

Would appreciate your input. I didn't fancy Keane an only seen a bit of klassrn, Sandro i didn't know much about. Pickford I like Rooney I can wait out. Do u think these where top of the list in each position.

Everton the gear.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - certainly very high if not top jombob, sandro for his buyout as much as anything was a no brainer, some major clubs were after the likes of keane and pickford as well but we got there first mate, players are buying into this project and it bodes very well for us..
