Hello everyone, and all ed's, not been on here for a while, I just want to say how refreshing it is to be linked and have the financial clout to be able to attract quality players for once, we have been on a shoestring budget for so many years now and have been so envious of them across the park always having the financial backing, but at long last its our time and boy do us evertonians deserve this, the next few years are going to put us on the map bigtime, we just have to be patient but we will become one of the best. Moshiri, Rk and Sw are going to put us back where we belong. the jigsaw is being put together very nicely. Remember deadline days linked with barry horne and dean saunders when they were about 103 years of age. let's enjoy the ride fellow blues. Great times ahead.

{Ed025's Note - great post batto and i echo all of that mate..

30 Aug 2016 22:13:45
While we all biting our nails in preparation for tomorrow, think I'll share my suggestions.

Riquelme, fernandes, yarmolenko, moutinho, and defour all having dinner in town. Obviously I jest but they have been linked with us many windows over the years.

Wonder who the next ones we be linked with for years will be?
Wonder who we will actually sign?

Would anyone throw a cheeky loan bid in for rashford? Not going to get massive game time at utd.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they wont let us have rashford johno, we will hopefully be a direct threat to them this season mate..

30 Aug 2016 22:34:24
True, ed but we usually do our business quietly so we'll probably buy someone that's not been mentioned at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its happened before johno and i certainly would not rule out a similar scenario tomorrow mate..

30 Aug 2016 22:56:08
Geoff, they could all go for an Italian, at Ravanellis place, not sure who would foot the bill for the gas though.

30 Aug 2016 23:01:04
They probably jump on one of those karaoke tuk-tuk's that popped up in town. hahaha.

Not really related to Everton, but its crazy that spending's gone over £1 Billion in little over 2 months. That's just in the English leagues too. Has to be a breaking point where it'll collapse.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2016 23:37:04
Not anytime soon English football is very sustainable right now you well may see it happen but not in the next 20 years yes prices have gone through the roof but the prem is big business and all teams in prem are all financially secure we are now starting to see it filtering down into lower leagues an average player was sold in championship today for £15m it's crazy but you have to look past value for money has its gone out the window the bottom half of the prem are richer than most clubs in the European leagues now bar the big guns.

It's all Jimmy Hill's fault.

{Ed025's Note - im having no trouble with the missus at all donny...i only speak to her in the cricket season mate.. :)

30 Aug 2016 21:53:50
I love cricket too! I'm getting dumped lol.

My missus is too busy watching tv.
Anyway she's got a fantasy football team, so is half interested to be fair.

I have a question of the Ed's which is probably a stupid one but how does the transfer of a player from one club to another work in the last few hours of the transfer window?
For example does the player have to be on site or can his signature be faxed? Does the medical have to be done before he signs or can the signing be contingent on his passing the medical after the deadline? What documents need to be transferred to the FA etc and do they have to be in by a certain time on Wednesday especially if it is from one country to another? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The signature can be scanned and sent and meidicals can take place remotely. The dealine applies to teh submission of the transfer forms to the FAs so the transfer is done at that point - 11pm UK/Portugal time midnight in most other countries. Some countries close earlier or later. There are also forms to complete regarding International clearance (but not work permits).}

30 Aug 2016 20:09:58
Thanks Ed.

Hoping for a striker, attacking mid, centre mid and a centreback. But I'm happy for any we get.

30 Aug 2016 15:50:32
Sorry to put a dampener on things but does everyone really feel like we have done well in this transfer market. I certainly don't think it has been great. it should have been much better . We were supposed to have a 100 million quid to spend. I see no evidence of that and here we are 2 days to go and apparently we will get so and so if so and so moves. blah blah blah. We will see in the next 2 days. I am not too confident if I am honest.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

30 Aug 2016 16:15:04
You have a certain amount coming in in your next pay-check, mate. Be stupid if you spent all of it just because its there, right? Same rules apply.

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Aug 2016 16:33:20
I think we've done OK tbh. decent keeper, strong centre back, fast winger. Could do with cover at rb and up top but think we'll surprise people this season.

Forgot gueye. Looking a great buy.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2016 16:46:44
Cant complain as we have not spent anything but strengthened our defence and midfield massively. if we carry on like that then happy days.
save the 100 mill for when we are in europe and can get the big hitters.

Agree5 Disagree1

30 Aug 2016 17:35:46
Not a 100 mill ad the stones money to that.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2016 18:53:18
Clubs are waiting till the last minute to squeeze the most that they can. We done it to United with filani back when 28 mill od was a large sum. I can see us closing a few tomorrow. let's have a guess? Optimistic 4 more in for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2016 19:58:55
The 100 mill does not apply to Moshri and his takeover that is just paper talk. Even so think about it, 100 mill for transfers also applies to agent fees, players wages etc! Then add that to existing players being offered enhanced contracts and 100 mill does not after all appear to be all that. Now the reality and the reality is that Everton are a very well run Club financially. We now have a much changed Managerial, Coaching, Scouting and Admin structure in place for the better and improved changes are ongoing. I reckon we have done very well indeed in a relatively short period of time. Have faith.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - amen to that BCT..

30 Aug 2016 21:19:19
I think we have had a great window so far. We have bought 4 first 11 players all funded by the sale of stones. We need to remember that ffp is still in play, so I think it is wise to raise the wage bill with the quoted 100m instead of spending it all on the actual transfer fees. Also remember that we are Everton, we do most of our best business on deadline day (except Niasse💩)

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2016 19:54:03
I said in earlier posts that we would not sign a top name player like we was told we would and all I see at the moment is we have sold one of are best players which only last year we said was not for sale all a bit cloak and daggers if you ask me . Still not to sure what's going on at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2016 22:34:32
Agree BCT. if we could get rid of niasse, mcgeady and Kone and strengthen with those funds would be excellent business.

The Everton U23 side play away to Bolton Wanderers today in the EFL Trophy.
Bolton are top of League 1 and Everton U23 have also started the season well, but Everon have ten U23 players away on Internationl duty and another six absent injured, so it will be a tough fixture.
However, it's these tough competitive matches against experienced teams/ players that we want for our U23 team, plus we knew that the EFL Trophy dates might clash with international fixtures and we want our young players to be good enough for Internationl call-ups. It's only the first-team (Premier League) fixtures that aren't scheduled for international weeks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2016 15:56:41
It's a real shame the U23 squad is so depleted for this fixture. I think it's a great move by the FA but this will be more like our U18s which is still great experience but you would think some of the U23 would have had a great chance to show RK they are ready with a good showing tonight.

Forgive me just woken from a long Bank Holiday and thought we'd signed a stunning Asian Babe for £25 million . but its a Jack Wiltshire rumour!

My personal opinion would be to sign Bony over Gabbioni (not only is it easier to spell) Bony is proven in the prem. Give him a couple of games to find his feet again after warming the man city bench, I think it would be a great partnership up top, Rom and Bony. But mainly because it's easier to spell and cost less on the back of my kids shirt.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

30 Aug 2016 16:02:46
Bony is a bit of a like for like for me with Lukaku. This Gabi lad is more of a technically gifted player. He also seems to possess a lot of good fortune infront of goal which is not a bad thing.
His scoring record across Serie A and international football is very good, I believe it's around 20 goals in 40 games which for a striker who does not get a run of games is very impressive and shows that he could step in as a back up to Rom because it's what he's done for Higuain with a goal every other game ratio.
It's the one position that really would frustrate me if we didn't strengthen given RKs comments on Niasse and my personal view on Kone I think we are short up top. Think Kev could play there and RK seems to think Delboy can as well but would be nice to have a top quality replacement or competitor to Lukaku.

Agree1 Disagree2

30 Aug 2016 18:35:00
I have the same yhoights Svenny. You want someone to compliment Lukaku or something different and Bony for me is a similar Lukaku. Not saying I wouldn't have but would rather another option.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2016 20:57:38
Where do you get the goal every other game from, Svenny? I thought it was closer to one in four but I stand to be corrected. He looks rubbish to me but I'm only going on YouTube evidence. Don't really know him otherwise.

30 Aug 2016 11:24:27
So today I'm hearing a lot of rumours that Jack Wilshire is a target! Can Anyone shed any light on this?
Personally I would rather let the likes of Davies get game time than allow that fraud of a footballer to wear the blue shirt!

Also a friend of mine (city fan) who claims to have an in at the club has told me Bony has passed his stuff up and told staff there he is moving just down the M62.
Personally I think he would be a great addition if the price is right.

30 Aug 2016 12:59:32
he would be on it more than Gibson and that's saying something, anyone who wants him at our club is well and truly away with the fairies.

I believe part of the package with Wiltshire is they will pay a portion of his salary and all of his medical costs the loanee club only pay wages for the games he actually plays.

{Ed002's Note - Twitter with the contract terms is this?}

My mate spotted a black fella in jeans and two other guys this morning at Speke, one in a suit, they got into a black Merc SUV in a rush and headed right at the lights towards Halewood. Finch Farm maybe?, any ideas Ed who is could be.

He wouldn't make it up, although he is a Kopite.

Cheers.

Did he have a vacant look about him?

Looks like we may well not get any additional signings this window. Seems to me that most of the media is getting over excited again with some of the rumours floating about. I would like to see an additional striker brought in, just can't see it happening. Very happy with what we have done so far though.

He could keep Gibson company on the hospital bed next to him? Whilst we are at it we could sign Sturridge too and have a whole ward for our squad?
