Hope Bryan Oviedo has a bit more luck this season. Seriously believe he can provide the left side balance we lacked all last term

{Ed025's Note - me too mate..

Agree. He's such an Everton player it's unreal

Bryan is a wonderful guy and player. Really loves the club, would be gutted if he left, hope he gets over the injuries. Great player when fit.

Great lad but in all honesty I'd say garbuts a better left back and prob not pacey or skilled enough to play left wing

Watched Sam Byram a few times last season. Son at uni in Sheffield so took in a few games here and there. Have to say he is a very good player. Not scared of a tackle, and confident on the ball. Would be happy to see him join, put a bit of pressure on Seamus. Would then have two very good full backs, and two for the future.

Been reading the pages on the site while Mrs FIB watches Emmerdale, were Sam Dingle and Leon Osman separated at birth?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thats not very flattering for ossie there gene, by the way natalie j robb who plays moira is an ex of ED007....jammy sod.. :)

Cannot believe that Shaquiri has gone to Stoke? Did we try to get him? Probably not. Apparently RM after a Costa Rican forward, Does anyone know much about him? Could this be someone that will make Lukaku fight for his place, if we get him.unless he's going.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we did look at shaquri lemur, but im afraid its the sign of the times when a player signs for stoke(YES STOKE FFS!!!) before us mate..

02 Jul 2015 18:55:50
I love how if a player we were linked with in the papers, no matter who it is, if he signs for another team, its a travesty. If we were linked with Heskey once, no one would want him, yet if he signed for say, West Brom, everyone would still fume and moan about not competing.

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Jul 2015 19:05:29
Agree Swan. And unfortunately some of your reactions don't help ed.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - its my point of view HB which im free to express mate..i dont stop anyone expressing theirs..

02 Jul 2015 19:08:44
This club is becoming a joke.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 19:30:12
We will be linked with numerous players during the window, with probably only a few of those links being true. Simply because a player we have been linked with joins another club it does not mean that he has turned us down. This is the nature of the transfer window I'm afraid and it will continue throughout the summer. I will only believe a transfer has gone through, or indeed failed once it has been confirmed by the club and not when a journalist enters the land of make believe.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good ethos there SB..

02 Jul 2015 19:38:28
Errr has he gone to Stoke? not seen anything myself, only that Inter have agreed to 12 mil. Last I heard he was telling Inter fans he was going nowhere?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it looked nailed on yesterday howie with the agreeing of the fee, but maybe there is a snag..

02 Jul 2015 19:44:55
him or mertens i'm unsure which one I would like

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 20:17:31
Martens every time. However I'm starting to worry about Belgian players, they seem to have a bit of an attitude and are prone to sulking. But hey what do I know.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - quite a lot about belgians by the sound of it woburn..

02 Jul 2015 20:35:35
Fee has been agreed but the player has not moved as yet and as mentioned above he has stated he wants to stay at Inter. Its not just about the club you play for its were you then live, and Milan and Stoke couldn't be more chalk and cheese if you tried.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 22:14:27
With our track recored, if we were to be interested in a promising none league player, Halifax town would come in and out bid us.Getting out bid by the likes of stoke or w/ham, is more than embarasing, it a clear indication that our directors, are far from the saviours from johnson, but the blood sucker, who are making suckers out of all of us.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jul 2015 16:42:46
What's the deal with Shaqiri?

If we're really interested we should match stokes bid.
From what I've seen of him he looks a quality player that can play multiple positions

He's only young and if he was english you'd be looking at 25 mill plus

There's a video on YouTube of his first 6 games for inter and it's clear to see he's a top player

His through balls are top notch and this is something that rom would benefit hugely from.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

02 Jul 2015 18:31:16
Forget youtube. It only shows the good and never the bad. I've looked at some of the match reports of him and they are not that favourable.

Also I don't want anymore midfielders. I want a striker and CB. This has to be our main aim.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jul 2015 18:59:42
John is right. Plus, Jelavic had a good first 6 games for us, what does it mean? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Youtube is a terrible way to analyse players. I would look at if he is so good, why are Inter so desperate to sell him, why, even when Robben and Ribery were injured couldn't he get a game for Bayern. And why the only clubs linked have been us (vaguely) and Stoke. Where are Chelsea and City?. He was terrible in the World Cup, not pulled up trees at Inter or Bayern. The only club he has done anything at was Basel (like Salah), except Salah is kicking arse in Italy. Which Shaquiri could not do.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that just sounds like hes another player you dont like swan..one of thousands that is mate.. :)

02 Jul 2015 20:39:12
In all fairness ed I don't find myself doing this often but I do actually agree with swan it is a fair assessment of the situation. he is still only young and has already been at 2 top European clubs in Bayern and Inter and both have moved him on, Inter looking to do it after only 6 months! Got to wonder why??

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 23:55:01
I don't base my opinions on players solely off YouTube but I was just making a point that he looks a top player in a video made from 6 games.

Imagine trying to make one of mcgeady or kone or someone like that. It just wouldn't happen haha

Look at Delboy, Barca didn't want him and neither did Sevilla but did that stop us from signing him?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed007's Note - If you want to see an arguement about McGeady nip over to the Celtic site. You couldn't make a recent McGeady highlight reel with an etch-a-sketch never mind a Youtube video. I did warn you all when he signed.}

03 Jul 2015 01:54:37
Haha I was actually happy with mcgeady on a free at the time but my god is he poor.
He seems to have all the attributes and you could say he has never had a run in the team. But to me he can't play at the level need for the prem on a consistent basis.

If there's any teams willing to pay actual real money for him then surely we have to get rid.

Also from what I've seen of Henen I would prefer us to give him ago over AM

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 02:22:01
was he a regular at Barca? No, Messi and Neymar barely got injured not to mention (at the time) Sanchez and Pedro. Shaqiri had no competition at Bayern when Robbery were out and still could not get in. At Sevilla Deulofeus record is actually quite good when he played. Shaqiris at Inter, not so much. Not to mention Deulofeu being 3 years younger, having Premier League experience and seeing as Barca have a 3 year buy back clause, I think he can be pretty good. Wonder where the Inter/Bayern buy back clause is. And another thing, Deulofeu was a quarter the price.

Swan

Who out of are current wingers would get into the inter milan team? , only one for me would be mirrallas at a push

And I know your not really Ross barkleys biggest fan so wouldn't you like to see him or someone like him come in to challenge for the number 10 role.

he's not going to come anyway but for 10 mill we could do a lot worse and even if he isn't a starter straight away he can provide cover and competition for 3 positions and he's only 23.

He's got lovely feet , great passer , fast and can really strike a ball with force.
What's not to like?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 07:46:09
his 'playmaking' is woeful, his crossing is so bad it makes McGeady blush. Has anyone seen Milans wingers? Nagatomo? Jesus, Mirallas and Deulofeu would get in that. But to be fair he cannot be any worse a no 10 than Barkley is.

Just saw a list of the cars driven by premiere league captains.
There are Aston Martins, Bentley's, Range Rovers, Mercs.

"What does Jags drive?" I hear you ask.

A VAUXHALL AMPERA! WTF! that is a 35K car with all the trimmings. Great that Jags is understated but can't help but think it is a sign of Everton at the moment. Will do what it is meant to but never be top class.

20yrs and counting.

02 Jul 2015 11:00:53
Sydney can you let everyone know what car mario ballotelli drives .get the point

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - which one? He has a collection of flash motors, including that idiotic camo painted Bentley. I do see your point though, not sure what is wrong with a player having a normal car, he is a footballer not a racing car driver after all.}

02 Jul 2015 12:37:18
Personally, I think it's greatly to his credit & says a lot about him as a man. It's a very environmentally friendly car so he cares more about the planet than being seen as a "flash get"! If only more footballers were like this & not just money junkies, our game would be in a much better place. Well done, Jags. Carry on, lad!

02 Jul 2015 12:52:36
Could be he has kids that need taking to school and stuff like that.not much room in a Ferrari for that malarkey. Barcelona must be praying Messi doesn't buy a micra,or they will have to sell him. 😜

02 Jul 2015 13:15:58
I know that when Alan Ball played r Blackpool he had a RED
Ford Zepher, when he sighed for Everton, he changed the colour to white I think.
Colin Harvey drove a Mini when we won the Championship 69/70.
How times have changed.

02 Jul 2015 14:46:17
Really? Because a player does not drive a high class car it's bad for us?. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

02 Jul 2015 17:06:26
Have to agree with most of the replies in this post. Surely because a premier league player drives a normal car and not some flash car that screams wealth it makes him more down to earth. I found an old programme from the mid 80's up in the loft a while ago. There was an interview with Paul Bracewell in it in which he was over the moon he'd just upgraded his car to a Ford Sierra, a reps car for heaven's sake. Also, didn't Jurgen Klinsman drive an old VW Beatle? He can't have been short of a few quid.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - nice to hear that RIB, if only these prima-donnas that pose as footballers today had that attitude..thanks for sharing mate..

02 Jul 2015 20:51:56
Enjoyed those Top Gear posts. Paid sixty notes for my first car a just about roadworthy Vsuxhall Victor, even remember reg 2670LV.
Didn't realize ay the time but log book listed previous owners from new. Nasty shock to see I owned the car of a former Liverpool captain.

{Ed025's Note - i hope you scrapped it tedster.. :)

02 Jul 2015 22:15:29
Great little thread this.
Just finished reading Jimmy Case's book and he mentions that, back in the day, Phil Neal and Alan Kennedy had sponsored cars from Lada!
Back when they were glorified two-stroke second hand lawn mowers. LMAO.

{Ed025's Note - i think they had food mixer engines juicer.. :)

02 Jul 2015 22:37:57
The worst of it may be, Ed, that both players had the perm hairdos.
Driving a Lada with a perm.
What!?
