If you asked Manchester United fans I should think a large majority would swap Martinez for Moyes a the drop of a hat.

We are in a great position right now, let's hope we have the legs, Top 4 would change the club, we are already everyones 'second team' as well as a very attractive loanee option for the Euro Giants.

We are entering a transition stage in which we are not seen as a threat by the big boys (Jose would never loan Lukaku to other 6 clubs) and whilst opposition managers will see us as a tough fixture we still do not demand a top billing slot on ssn despite being second on the form table when you only look at the top 8.

Jose is always reluctant to mention Everton as challengers for Europe. I am happy for us to be in this position for now, if we get good money in Summer I would expect Roberto to get us some solid signings.

Look at poor Bolton, millions in debt and the situation getting worse, Villa were our rivals of the last 6 years, we have left these clubs behind sitting on the coat tails of the top clubs. Biding our time, let's stay patient Evertonians.

Onwards, and certainly upwards

I like the original post. Nice one!

Agree0 Disagree0

Best post I've read in a while. Top marks mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

Good read Cheltonian. Well constructed comments. Sad situation at Bolton which could affect a few more Championship clubs if they overstretch themselves too.

we all have to look at the stoke result as a positive in these cirumstances. I mean they've just come away from a few batterings, returned home and neede to prove themselves to their own fans after losing cames by more than three goals, personally would have taken the draw at the start as we all knew stoke would come out all guns blazing hoping to turn their luck around with them getting a right rollecking from the club staff and most importantly hughsey

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would have preferred a win, but the players never gave up and we secured a draw at the last minute. Who'd have thought back in the summer that RM would have the team being that determined and playing with the never-give-up attitude? Who imagines that DM's team would have pretty much given up - going through the motions, but not really believing?

alrite blues, reacting to the news of jonny not going to the hammers, he is now favourite to go to newcastle in the next week, apparent reason for the west ham deal falling through was the fact they could not agree on a wage as heitenga wanted over 100k, everton hoping to sign mcgeady in the next week aswel as jelavic's agent is in talks with an annonymous english club there maybe be another loan signing from spain also, but apart from that no more deals involving the blues this window, maybe an unknown player from over seas for a small fee

James Milner on loan with a view to sign.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We can't have anymore loans from a premier league team, also only one loan from anyone team.

oh god please no he is terrible, works hard but yep that's about it

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

Millners a good player mate that's why he plays for city. To say he's terrible is way off the mark.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 21:15:44
Absolutely agree with the Ox, Milner cannot cross a ball, watched a match with him in and he attempted a dozen whip ins and it never left the floor or got past the first man, don't get me wrong if the pitch was 6 miles long you could just send him running down it which he would be great at, cannot see what people see in him, also isn't he on 150 k a week, we may struggle with that

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 21:59:34
just because a player plays for a good team does not automatically make them good I go back to cleverley, ashley young, john obi mikel, sebastian squilacci, nikolas bentdner and javi garcia who man city fans and even their own manager think is crap, all them players play for good teams but they are not all good players, he works hard, no pace, no power, no skill, poor passer, poor crosser, always gives the ball away and has missed more sitters than emile heskey on a bad day, :)

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure that Moyes would have loved to have Milner at Everton, but I just don't see him as an Martinez player for Everton - even if we could free up a domestic loan spot for him (which surely isn't going to happen).

Agree0 Disagree0

We cannot loan another player from here unless we make either Barry or Lakuku permanent.

We can loan others from abroad though so you need to forget the Milners and the Lescotts unless the above happens

how much money do people think we may have for transfers in this window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

£2 and a toffee crisp.

We stick the £2 on a scratch card and win £100,000 which we then put on 9/1 that the Jamaican Bob-sleigh team qualifies for the winter Olympics, and win.
We now stick the £1m winnings on a Camel in the arab cup @ 15/1 and win.
We swap Mata for the toffee crisp, then resell to PSG for £4m.

= £20m, no toffee crisp

So my sources tell me

FACT!

Agree0 Disagree0

No toffee crisp, gutted

Haven't really seen a lot of johnny since he won his player of the year award personally I'll be sorry to see him go but wish him all the luck in the world.

How is it you are "The Real Mike"? I think I am the original Mike since I was born in 1940. Apart from that I agree with you, I think!

I think it is time for the FA to have a look at changing the loan system. Yesterday we conceded a goal to a player who Stoke don't even own, which can't be right can it? Only lower league clubs should be allowed to loan players. It isn't fair is it, we don't have any on loan, so why should other teams get away with it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We've got Barry!

Agree0 Disagree0

The real mike ok but its ok for your team to get lots of goals scored and created by players you don't own.that statement is a complete joke if I may say so

Agree0 Disagree0

Are people actually believing that post? It's quite obviously a humor post. Get with how the world works guys. He's jokin' with y'all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who has read mikes comments in the past should be aware he is probably being sarcastic. He is making the point that every week people moan about our loan signings scoring goals and influencing key matches. Yet we get a player on loan from our nearest rival scoring a goal against us and nothing is said now about the loan market.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is being sarcist. A few people started to criticise the loan system due to exceptional performences, mainly from everton's loanee's (also Remy but the main focus was on Lukaku with him being from chelsea and scoring goals.) I think he is having a pop at that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I Think this is because many liverpool fans were moaning that we were only able to win our games due to loan players that we have! and many have said its not fair us having players that aren't ours winning us games! even though assaidi scored for stoke and he's on loan from liverpool! I bet there not moaning at that

Agree0 Disagree0

And while they're at it, the FA should look at those English Premier League clubs that don't have English managers. Our two leagues defeats this season have been to teams managed by South Americans. Even our League Cup defeat was to a team managed by a Dutchman. Heaven forfend that we should ever replace Wigan born-and-bred Bobby Martins with a foreign coach ;-)

Well done johnny for not joining the hammers. Newcastle strongly tipped to get him now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't give a monkeys where he goes, just as long as he does. Awful player.

And well done (not!) to all those posters who claimed that this deal was done and dusted. As always, until the ink is well and truly dry on signed contracts, every deal is just speculation. But we all thrive on the this forum's banter - the gossip and idle tittle-tattle is so addictive ;-)

What I would like too see in this window:

INS:
BATSHUAYI (one for the future aswell, so it would be worth the cash, around 8m as an estimation)
MORATA (loan) {ambitious I know}
FERNANDO (cut-price deal due to contract status)
McGeady(free)

OUTS:
Jelavic
Heitinga

Recall Duffy for defensive cover.

Its more bussiness than I expect or would ideally like but with two players looking likely to leave I think it will push another one or two players to be brought in. This would give the much needed cover and competition for Barry/McCarthy and will add more attacking edge to our side, plus depth.

Martinez will get some decent players in, I'm sure.
Thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we'll get
Finnbogason or Batshuayi
Mcgeady
A deep CM as cover

Jonny and jely will leave

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be class those lot coming in

Agree0 Disagree0

On the assumption that we're after squad coverage (if only in the short term) for Gibson and Kone PLUS we'd probably need squad replacements for Heitinga and Jelavic if they do leave, then would any of the incoming players get a first-choice starting berth compared to the current players? Aside from covering injuries and suspensions - and allowing for squad rotation and resting players - would any incoming player be a regular preferred starter? I doubt it somehow at the moment.
Moving on -
I actually think the summer transfer window will be more important, as we'll have loans coming to an end, players at the end (or maybe just a season away from the end) of their contracts, players returned from long term injury, decisions to be made about which U18 and U21 to retain (especially those who've had a chance to develop while on loan in the lower divisions), plus we'll know if we're in Europe and that (especially Thursday night Europa League followed by Sunday Premier League) does stretch the squad and clearly disrupts the routine of training and resting that keeps the player in good physical and mental condition. Add to that the inevitable transfer merry-go-round that follows a World Cup - which usually throws up an "unknown" or two - and we could be in for a challenging time competing for the players we want (and, more importantly, need).
Of course we'd like to strengthen during the January transfer window - and push on during the remainder of this season - but I really do believe that next season is when RM's managerial and coaching ability will be thoroughly examined as teams learn to cope with our style (especially if we're in Europe) and the strength and depth and blend (of youth and experience) of our squad will be well and truly tested.
But enough of that - I'm just enjoying the performances and results that RM is achieving by expanding so progressively upon the solid base left by DM.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me if jelly and jonny go we need a forward a wide man with pace and a centre midfielder. i'd go for diame but he is on big wages that we won't match I don't think. Mcgeady looks nailed on and i'd go for ince aswell. the Belgian lad sounds good but I've got a feeling bobby might pull a "special" out the bag

Message to Mike Ox-long. Hi Mike, Happy New Year!
I notice you haven't posted a report this week with player scores.I wondered if it was because Ossie came on and changed the match with his superior skills (lol) dribbling and overall involvement? I thought he was our MOM even though he was only on about 15 mins. He salvaged a point for us again. I would have given him 9 and probably most of the forwards and attacking midfielders around 6. What did you think mate?

i didn't post ratings because we were away and I have been a bit skint and unable to go, 15 minutes do not make a player, I agree he is useful as a sub but as a starter I just don't know what he is doing, I do not rate him, never have and never will but if I had watched the match my rating would not of been biased

I always thought there was more "railing" against the players than "rating" of the players in our banter with Mike ;-)

OK so we dropped points today against a useful Stoke side who are either playing hot or cold. There for the taking at Goodison but who'd already beaten Chelsea and drawn with City at home.
As with the Sunderland game, we battered them especially in the first half, hitting the woodwork twice and causing panic in their defence whenever we broke forward. Credit to young John Stones who replaced Distin in difficult circumstances, Kevin Mirallas for getting shots in and on target and Leon Osman who when he came on did the job he needed to and for staying on his feet before eventually winning the penalty. Oh yeah, a penalty. I'd almost forgotten what they were, but dispatched with ease by Leighton at the end.

FA Cup next week before Norwich at home, WBA away and the RS across the Park. Am I hoping or expecting too much for a passage to the Fourth Round and at least 7 points? Obviously 9 points would be nicer and is not impossible if only to silence our neighbours who apparently claimed 4th spot after beating Hull. Onwards and upwards. COYB.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You came across the park to our page about how crap we are not the other way around bud. your bitter and with good reason.and you were on the utd page slagging moyes. now that's just down right low and classless liverpool fans still sing rafas name. as bad as he was at times.moyes done well with everton you slagging him off is bang out of order

Daveyboy you would be lucky to get a point from those three games. I remember all the bitters saying that you had an easy xmas at home, nothing is easy in the prem these days, so keep dreaming lad and have a great new year mate

Rafa won you trophies and games against the top 4, Moyes on the other hand did not. Plus Rafa left you on good terms, with Liverpool ready to let him leave, Moyes on the other hand waited for a contract to expire to ensure we received no compensation for him leaving (although he knew full well he would not only be leaving our club for Manchester United long before he did, but the job to united would not hang in the balance whether they had to pay a compensation pay out of a contract as he was Fergie's recommendation for his replacement) all this knowing what sort of financial position efc are in was just a kick in the teeth (thats why there is hatred for moyes over his leaving for Man Utd, not the years prior to that which he changed us from a bottom league club to a european chasing club, which I'm sure there are very few evertonians that would slate him about) Enough about Moyes anyway, he like others have left everton to find the grass isn't always greener and we are left with a forward thinking, young, attacking minded passing football manager who has inspiration to turn us from a european chasing team to a top 4 candidate each year. You're clearly not very bright are you? If you'd got half a brain cell you would have realised that The Real Mike was being sarcastic. However.

What gets me though is that you've then got the gall to re-post this on your site deleting the last part where Mike is being ironic about EFC not having any loanees in an attempt to carry favour with the rest of your supporters. Only you got caught out there as well didn't you jim? Well when you get back to school next week remember to ask your English teacher about the meanings of sarcasm and irony. If you re-tell the story accurately they'll laugh at you as well.

Have heard Jelavic will play his last game for us this weekend against Q.P.R before joining Q.P.R straight after. Can't really understand this as we are so short in forwards. Martinez must have a striker lined up.Did you hear anything Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What size of transfer fee would QPR pay for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 09:12:46
Baines is going nowhere, we are expecting further bids for him but he won't be sold this transfer window.

McGeady is pretty much a done deal, just the finer details of the contract to finalise.

Heitinga deal is done and dusted as I think everyone is now aware, good wage to get off the books.

Still looking at moving Jelavic on, again a deal with West Ham is most likely. The Liege lad and the Finnish guy in the Dutch league are top targets and aren't dependant on Jelavic moving.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2014 00:13:50
Now that it appears that Distin is out for a couple of weeks and Jagielka for a week or two more than that - plus Heitinga leaving and Duffy remaining away on loan - we are left with Alcaraz and Stones as our centre back pairing. If one of them is unavailable, who do you we play at centre back - Hibbert, or move Barry into defence, or go with one of the U21 (or U18) players, or recall Duffy? Or do we just hope that we can bring a player (permanent or loan) into the squad - probably as a direct replacement for Heitinga (which we'd probably be doing anyway whatever the current injury situation).
Can anyone add to my (sorry) rambling?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the injury to distin means heitinga deal is off at least until the very end of the window

Think we can play hibbo there if we get stuck

If Jonny goes to west ham, that frees up 50k and stones was immense today, as was Alcaraz! Why are we contemplating selling jelly? The last thing we need is mcgeady? Trouble maker. We need a couple of young signings ( Dundee utd is the place to look)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jellys going because for the last year plus he has been somewere close to useless, we need some one with a bit more to offer that he does to give rom a rest now and again

In ireland he is known as mcgreedy and he ain't good enough for everton imo i'd let coleman do both jobs before signing that waste of wages
