Ed025: Can you confirm why Distin gets called 'buzz lightyear,' I asked Ed002 and he said he wasn't sure..

JM {Ed025's Note - i heard it was because of jaw...the same as buzz lightyear...he got the name at city apparently..

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed, I've heard jaw, head and recovery speed, I will need to decide for myself what is more realistic

JM

Agree0 Disagree0

It's because his head is uncannily similar to the cartoon character "buzz lightyear".
That's what some of the player's at City nick named him and it seems to have stayed with him !

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe because his passes go to infinity and beyond

Given a choice between Peanut and Kranchar, I would go with Peanut. He already knows the squad in particular Bainsey. And he will run all day long for us. He's got a great engine. I can't imagine there is a better deal out there for 5 mil' so if we have it, spend it on him. We will not get that kind of value from 5 mil' if we were to use it on a striker. And who knows, he might get Cahill firing again..... What do you think Eds? {Ed025's Note - i would go for kranjcar, as i think he is more creative, plus i dont want to pay spurs more than they stole him for..

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Maybe just maybe if we get rid of Bily for a decent price we might be able to get both....but we really need a striker! {Ed025's Note - yes we do...but this striker will need service, so really we need both..

Believable5 Unbelievable4

U really can't blame him {Ed025's Note - its a load of tripe...he is happy at everton..

Agree5 Disagree0

I really hope baines doesn't leave I heard too he wants to go to you know who {Ed025's Note - hang on a mo...first he wants to go to a top 4 side....now its the red s****???....make your mind up!...it cant be both!!

Agree1 Disagree1

We should get rid of him his mind has looked elsewhere of late wed get 15 mil for him {Ed025's Note - he is quality..and has looked great this season...are you sure your a football fan???..

Agree2 Disagree0

He's only good for penalties sell him {Ed025's Note - back to your own site...cretin..

Agree3 Disagree2

I get the feeling that some of these posts here are from Liverpool fans !!!
Jealous we have one of the best left back's in the league if not top 5 in europe.
At the moment liverpool are a joke like they were last season with the yanks, this season suarez is embarrassing them and all the player's dogleish bought are proving what a donkey kenny is !!

Wouldn't mind seeing this, we should have around 5 mil available to spend without selling

In: onuoha 3-4, vossen 6-7
Out: bily 5-6

Onuoha long term RB/CB replacement, and vossen long term striker. Let's hope we tie up drenthe as well. It would be a solid squad. Thoughts Ed? {Ed025's Note - 2 good players mate....but vossen and kranjcar sounds better to me!..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Wouldn't mind seeing this??..... Wouldn't have to sell??....... You then put sell Billy. Jesus Christ!!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

If you do the maths mate 5 mil without selling + 0 = 5

But of were going to sell bily which woulnt be a bad thing if we got 5-6, then do a quick sum again (use your fingers if you like) 5+5 = 10

Pienaar Up For Grabs

www.grandoldteam.com

The inevitable media reports linking Steven Pienaar with a return to Goodison Park have gained momentum, with claiming Tottenham have placed a £5m valuation on the former Everton favourite.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To get rid they will have to pay him up...around 3 mill to stevie if he has not asked for transfer.........g

here is my team to play bolton
howard, Hibbert, jagielka, Distin, Baines
Drenthe, Osman, Rodwell Donovan,
Anichebe, Saha,
subs
Neville, Cahill, Strachalursi, Vellios, Gueye

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Don't think Anichebe will start he needs time to get fit so probably be used from the bench.
Id like to see Donovan just behind Straqualersui.... He done more than Saha when he came on vs West Brom.
By the way your allowed 7 subs

Agree3 Disagree0

Howard
Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines
Drenthe, Heitinga, Rodwell, Osman
Donovan
Starqualersui

Subs
Mucha, Neville, Gueye, Cahill, Anichebe, Saha, Vellios {Ed025's Note - does no one want to see barkley in the line up?

Agree3 Disagree0

There are 7 subs in the premier league

Agree0 Disagree0

I forgot i only put 5 subs on mine
Howard
Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines
Drenthe, Osman, Rodwell, Donovan
Anichebe, Saha
Subs
Mucha, Neville, Gueye, Straqalursi, Vellios,
Heitinga, Barkley

Agree0 Disagree0

It's like match of the day on here

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025 would love to see Barkley starting, i did my team on what i think Moyes will play.
Moyes has said earlier this week that we will see more of Barkley next season, he wants him to have games in the reserves because he missed a year of progress {Ed025's Note - fair play mate...but i think the best way to give him experience...is to give him a place on the bench, and the odd start..

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2012 16:24:08
ed so what are the possible ins and outs mate ? {Ed025's Note - its going to depend on money pal....peanuts wants to come back, but spurs want £5m, we have asked about lukaku on loan, and have enquired about kenwyn jones, but whether or not stoke would want a rival to have him is another thing!...outs possibly bily..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kenwyne Jones? How much would he be Ed?
Toffeeboy {Ed025's Note - he is now surplus to requirement at stoke, a loan deal would be great, but as a buy would cost about £6m..

02 Jan 2012 15:56:02

i dont support a club but i watch football all the time too hard to choose a club i like, i tend to follow evertons games but i think they are lacking a presence in the middle of the field the fire power is there you have hungry strikers but i think the main person dragging you down is your chairman (sorry cant remember his name) but overall i still think everton are top 6 quality, all the best for the season

Believable2 Unbelievable3

02 Jan 2012 15:20:05
i thought it was promising that moyes gave the order to attack yesterday, at 0-0 away from home, normally he would shut up shop and play for a point, but you could see he had told the lads to go out and win it and we did, so everyone needs to stop moaning about the performance, we scored, we won and got three points!! COYB

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more matey ! We are not City or Arsenal, we have lost 2 of the best creative players we have had for many years in Arteta and Pienaar so we are not going to be seeing defence splitting passes or clever play from anyone, what will happen though is Moyes will find a way of winning games and keep us competetive untill there is investment and then thats when we will be back where we belong !!

Agree4 Disagree0

Yeah mate :) i could get used to winnning 1-0 agen for the next few months, afterall its a win isn't it, and that would put us back where we belong, top 5/6 is easily achievable here i think :)

Team should be for next game

Howard

Hibbert Jagielka Distin Baines

Heitinga Rodwell

Donovan Barkley Drenthe

Saha

Subs: Vic Barkley Straq Vellios Haneman Cahill Gueye

Gettin hard to fit everyone in now - fellaini injured and neville obviously cant be ommited?

Although I often rant about Hetinga, he is good at irritating oppostion and breaking up play. Our defensive record has been good this season, we never get thumped and are always in with a chance of winnning games if we could only score. Saha is the only striker who is trusted to start - although maybe we could give straq a go.

jak le bleu

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Cant have Barkley on the bench and playing the same time lol;)

Agree3 Disagree0

I like the attacking feel of the team but you cant just have a bench full of attacking players and a keeper.. also i hope ur only leaving felli out because of the injury

Agree1 Disagree0

I would like to see
Howard
Hibbert Jagielka Distin Baines

Drenthe Rodwell Fellaini (if fit) Osman

Donovan
Straqualersui

Would like to see Osman play too, and Barkley isn't that big, he can't take up 2 places!

My defining memory of Gary Ablett was him charging down the left flank in the FA Cup semi Final vs Spurs to get to a pass in which he made a sliding cross to Daniel Amokachi to score Everton's 4th!

Very sad news about Gary Ablett passing away last night. Not exactly an Everton great but did score in the first match I my dad took me to against Leicester in the 94-95 season. We drew 1-1 after our Gary had scored by bundling home a rebound off the keeper from close range, appearing to use his 'johnson' in pendulum fashion to poke the ball over the line!

The foxes had 2 (wrongly) disallowed that day, we were awful, bottom of the league and set to stay there. Makes you wonder what everyone is moaning about. Things have been MUCH worse on the pitch and as todays sad news reminds us, there are MUCH more important thing in life...

Yesterday's result papered the cracks in a poor performance! Vic is not an option never has been. An aging team no flair no pace, Cahill, Hibbert, Saha all past there best , in midfield Heitenger and Neville really unable to make a pass or create anything! What happened to Drenthe no explanation for his absence! Strac looked a handful ossie our only creative player! C'mon moysey let be inventive for our upcoming home games and use Donovan straight away maybe
a 433 or 442 and let's go for it!
BK give him some back up to lift this squad!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Hibbert has been brilliant this season, Heitinga was solid in midfield we played 4-3-3 in the 1st half

Moyes will use all the money on a striker, who? I don't know and there's so many names flying round, he will try get a creative midfielder on loan parejo and kranjcar r the strongest possabilites, also something needs to happen to tie distin the man mountain down on a new contract he's a rock at the back, him and jags are quality together.

What is thisrubbish we are being linkedwith Darron Gibson... Not that it would supprise me... Maybe we could play with 5 CM 4 CB & L/RB...

I was under the impression we could do with a striker or 2 .. an attacking Mid to supply the forwards & the odd winger maybe a right back but why the... would we need CM... {Ed025's Note - im with you there mate..

Is it just me or did we play 4-3-3 last night in the first half? I don't think we can complain with moyes' tactics last night especially with the attacking substitutions. We can change to playing magical football in one week so we should be happy that he's gone out there to win considering the player we had unavailable. 4-3-3 could worth for us with some different players I think

Howard
Hibbert jagielka distin baines
Osman fellaini Rodwell
Coleman Saha drenthe

Believable0 Unbelievable3

02 Jan 2012 05:46:15
I'd rather we didnt bring in anyone for January if were going to bring in s**t.

We've enough talent to at least build our players into good premiership players rather than bringing on old player which will do for a year or two.

Gueye, Coleman, Rodwell, Fellaini, Barkley, Vellios, Drenthe and even Anichebe can be good players and we've already a solid backline. Wont complain at all if we sell bily and manage to bring in some good new faces but just saying if we cant it might not be such a bad thing. But with the average age of those players being just over 20 we can expect to be challenging top 5 but i completely trust that we would still be mid table as of course we can still use cahill, saha, osman, heitinga and so on.

For the Future
Howard
Coleman Jagielka Distin(replace?) Baines
Drenthe Rodwell Fellaini Gueye
Barkley
Vellios

Believable0 Unbelievable0

After January

Im not saying this is going to happen just thinking of what is possible. If we could get silly money for baines and have replacements available for him for less than what we get for him it could be a real boost for the club

Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Pranjic
Drenthe Rodwell Osman Fellaini Pienaar
Lukaku/Saha

thoughts? {Ed025's Note - if we start selling our best players, then there is no way back!...we should be buying quality, not selling it!..

EDs, Do you know why Distin is called Buzz, always got to me?

JM {Ed001's Note - I did get told once, I know it is Buzz Lightyear, but I can't remember the story he told me, I am not even sure if it is true anyway. I have also heard him called Cyborg too. I will leave a note asking Ed025, in case he knows.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's because his head is shaped like Buzz lightyear, he got the nick name whilst at Man City and its stuck apparently

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the info, I was trying to explain to a rednose mate (I know, we all have them) and I knew it was buzz lightyear, but I thought at first it was because of his recovery speed, haha clueless.
