If Cech does end up signing for Arsenal, would anyone have Szczesny? Then again, I'd rather we go in for Cech, but I doubt we'd get him!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - his wages would put us off hugo, and for me szczesny makes too many basic errors mate..

29 May 2015 21:30:06
No thanks, he's terrible.

Oh yeah, definitely wouldn't be close to being the top of my goalkeeper wishlist either! Any other suggestions for a new keeper, lads?

{Ed007's Note - David Marshall....?

Reading that Mirallas has an 'awkward' relationship with Martinez amid allegations of broken promises after Dortmund and athletico enquired about him in January, and he was obliged to stay due to squad depth, he then got less game time than expected! Now doesn't this resemble Distin? who knows exactly but I'm not convinced the squad are fully behind RM there have been to many players off form this year for this not to be a major part of our poor season!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

29 May 2015 18:44:41
No I don't think it resembles distin. Distin was chucked out the squad for poor performances and has barely played all season. Mirallas has been in and out the squad and first 11 since january. Mirallas' problem is his ego.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he thinks he,s better than he is swan..

29 May 2015 19:37:27
Would like nothing better than this season just gone to have actually been our transition season and that Martinez has as he says sussed it out now and knows what to do. But come November and everything has gone tits up, most of all I hope our Bill has the guts to fess up.

Mirallas is a totally different situation. 8 months into his first season with us he was banging on about playing in the CL the following season. Every time he goes away and plays he comes out with this. I can't be bothered with him.

It's so disrespectful to the supporters who pay his bloody wages. If he wants to go or is unhappy all he has to do is speak to the club, his agent and manager and come to an agreement. If he has a contract which he signed then he must either wait until the end of it or see if the club will sell him. You don't go and do interview after interview.

Get the money and let the spoilt brat go.

I understand all of the reasoning in these posts, however he does represent one of our better players, getting shot may just open the door for other star players to follow suit ie Lukaku and / or Mccarthy, last thing we need is a mass exodus, the manager needs to stamp his authority get it sorted and strengthen the squad so they are all fighting to be a part of the team in this great club, Ferguson achieved so much at manure but wouldn't suffer fools or players that believed they are bigger than the club. The buck stops with you RM!

30 May 2015 11:39:40
Get shut he is a luxury player who half the time you don't even notice he is actually on the pitch. Konoplyanka is available on a free surely we can have a punt on him if we shift kevs wages of the bill and get 10 mill for him.

30 May 2015 13:21:43
But Wakka Ferguson got rid of players like Mirallas who showed descent. He won't change as he has been banging on since he first came.

As for him being one of our better players. He is but I would rather have someone supplying the ball for the front men and not being selfish in their play like he is. I think players of their ilk should be given bonus on assists not goals. It would force them to consider others instead of shooting whenever the goal is within range. He is replaceable like anyone in our team and you find equal or better out there so he is not such a big loss.

So mirallas has came out and said more stuff to the belgian media. He also said dortmund and athletico made contact but we wouldn't let him go. Aww. Poor kev. You know i'm sick of him now. Just go, you don't want to be here the please just go.

Couldn't agree more!

If they handed out prizes for playing a whole match with your head up your own backside ,

Then we know who would win hands down!

You know what players like him absolutely do my head in, had a good game against West Ham scored a couple of goals but seriously, h barely ever plays more than 70mins typical attitude from a modern day player imo, if it is an issue with Martinez I can understand because he's another tool

Mirallas at it again. I can't even be bothered to go on about him any-more. Please sell him just to shut him up.

I have been reading this site for a couple of years now and it strikes me how often a recurring argument against signing some players is "he doesn't fit our playing style" which maybe would be a good point if those same people were not also saying they don't like our playing style so which do we want players who fit our current (boring) playing style or different players who can change our playing style? just a thought.

29 May 2015 15:51:22
No as the players we have play this way due to the manager. We could have stokes 2011-12 team and we would still try tiki taka. When I say (as I have said it a lot) a player doesn't suit our play style like hernandez this is because for me, we need a striker who can hold the ball up (like kone does) and share the workload with lukaku. Someone like hernandez would rely on lukaku holding it up when he simply can't.

The enigma for me this season is Gibson, do we still stick with him, on his day a great midfielder fantastic passing range with great vision, however as we all know injury prone! we really don't get enough games from him, perhaps we can look at the medical team, or maybe he just has weaknesses in his physical make up. Perhaps that's why we got him at such a bargain price in the first place?

Love the guy when he plays mate but he has had enough chances, sell him for a couple of million and throw McGeady in for free

29 May 2015 09:51:51
Dont think he is much of a bargain mate a handful of games on reasonable wages its a shame really as IMO he is a quality player when fit

29 May 2015 11:13:57
Think Gibson is a good player but like sturridge his transfer value will never be very high .He should be a 10 mil player but his injuries mean he never plays a full season so is only probably worth 2 or 3 mil .I would keep him because when he does play he has an affect on the team he's a good squad player and seems a good lad in the dressing room .

When Gibbo plays mate, he's always a top candidate for m.o.t.m. imo.

However like you say ''his injuries'' probably means in the great scheme of things e.g. pro's and con's etc.

It's the latter that dominates unfortunately .

''throw McGeady in for free''

Ok but as an option with no obligation ;)

We don't want to scare people off now do we.

I love gibson, really good player, excellent passer, works hard and has a cracking shot (which we have not seen a lot due to his knee injury). Its a shame it really is. I don't think he will ever do a full season but imo we should sell him for 2m or something.

29 May 2015 19:02:29
Would anyone risk buying him right now so prob best to keep hold and hope he can get over his injuries great player when fit

Shame that John Lundstram never made it, looked a decent player at 18-19 but he was poor at blackpool (some say they still have nightmares about him) and leyton orient. I wonder if that's something to do with loaning him to a struggling championship side?. We loaned him to bournmouth when they were in league 1 and he was very good for them. The 3 names that people are going on about in a good way are Ryan Ledson, Liam Walsh (our future number 10 according to Martinez) and Jonjoe Kenny (i was impressed with him and Ledson during under 17s World Cup with England). George Green is someone I worry about, he was supposed to be the next big thing, I know he has had injury problems, a woman who works at Tranmere said he had an argument with the manager and players and has a terrible attitude. But other fans were saying he was the only one trying. Like Barkley he doesn't know when to pass or shoot but unlike Barkley he is willing to track back, tackle and can take a free kick. I wonder what is next for him, loan to league 1 or the championship maybe?.

I wanted to ask what type of player Ledson is, when I watched him he looked like he wins the ball and can spread short or long passes and really control the pace of the game. But what a mate has told me is he has a good shot and can go forward past the defence in short bursts. Has anyone watched him a few times and can tell me what type of player he is?.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - Nothing to do with being in a struggling side Swan, Lundstram lacked the ability to pass/shoot/tackle he was shocking,I'm a Blackpool fan btw.}

Fair enough mate. Shame.

Then again Ruddy never made it!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he can be a right flapper Ruddy, not sure why there is all the hype about him. He was not good enough for Everton, not at the time and not now. Though nor is Howard.}

29 May 2015 16:29:09
Dont want to upset you Swan, but Ledson moves and plays like Barkley mate, except he takes control of midfield and runs the game. Which is what Ross is lacking at the moment.
