Anybody know when the kitbag deal runs out? Ed? {Ed025's Note - its a 3 year deal i believe..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

End of 2014 season

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I'm sure we signed a ten year deal with them

Agree0 Disagree0

We did, although it should be expiring soon.

Hopefully they don't make the same mistake again, embarrassing, to be making less from merchandise and things than the likes of Fulham and Sunderland.

Absolutely shocking deal, having popular players such as Howard and Donovan (in America) and Cahill (in Australia) we failed massively in using them to sell our brand, especially to Americans where the sport is growing fast and they will be looking for a Premier League side to support.

Feck me. I thought that seams was committed for us but stick him in the emerald of Ireland against a cocky English side full of prays and he plays like the Tasmanian devil

Don't usually post on here but I am a keen observer. With the impending announcement of the manager I am appalled at some supporters comments regarding some of the candidates to take up the hot seat at goodison. Whom ever it may be I will be fully behind him wether it is rm, vp or bloody willy wonker. I have no doubt that the doom Sayers are the same fans who called for moysies head and complained about the numerous players that slipped the net during transfer windows. Who by the way were all proven wrong when they turned out to be s****, kenwyne jones to name but one. FFA let's just stop complaining and do what we do best by supporting the team from the stands.

Please can anybody who wants martinez as boss please reply as to wanting someone who has told his previous employer he did not think he could get wigan back in the premier league so what makes you want a manager like that we pride ourselves on commitment skill and not least courage so how can we employ someone with as little courage as he has already shown come on bill don't let your heart rule your head as for martinez he has already shown us he has no heart for a fight. {Ed025's Note - what he is saying al, is that with his players having to take a 25% cut in wages, for dropping down, plus diminished crowds and sponsorship, he will not be able to hold on to his players, which would be vital to them to get back up... well thats how i see it mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ok eds that's your take on it but surley the parachute payment and europe would have given him some more clout than the rest of the championship sides seems to me he wanted out and everton fc gave him the excuse

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed that has never stopped other clubs who came straight back up

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like a good way of letting Dave whelan down gently as he has a v good relationship with him IMO.

I really hope its VP in instead of Martinez. Wife supports Wigan so we have seen our fair share of Wigan games this season. Some games they have been fantastic but most of the time they have been poor and i'm talking the best part of 3 years. Ok fair play they have won an FA cup but where are they now? So VP all day for me. Also got a cheeky tenner at 33/1 on him.

Rossaldinho

Believable0 Unbelievable0

IMO most people who want vp are on him at fancy prices and are talking through their pockets

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel sorry for you having a pie eater in the house

I don't know who is going to be the new manager but if felli did leave I would have no problem if we got mccarthy and fer in to replace him. A trio of gibbo, fer, mccarthy looks very strong.
bluepaddy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whats to say the new manager will even look twice at fer? he was a moyes target

Agree0 Disagree0

Which means its now unlikely - if you were new manager would you by old managers target? Hence reason Fer has said publicly "come and get me" as he sees it slipping away.

(He was always a Fellini fallback anyway)

Well done Seamus, most improved player ever and will go on to be a legend

There is hope for Naisy yet blues

Degsy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed Degs, he was fantastic tonight. Some may say I'm a bit far fetched but I honestly think he is in the top 10 best RB's in the World. I actually can't name a better RB than him in the Prem. People will say Glen Johnson but he's caught out of position far too often and I don't think he's that good going forward either. Zabaleta and Ivanovic are debatable though.

BitterBlue

BitterBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to go with Ivanovic to be honest. Still realy pleased that Seamus has improved so much. He looks like he will be a real quality player for us. Probably the only youngster that has really developed under Moyes. I do however, think that his loan spell helped him significantly.
SA90

Agree0 Disagree0

Coleman is quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Bitter blue. I'll certainly say this. he is everyone's most improved player and certainly one of the most improved in the prem. and He ain't even reached his peak yet! That's the great thing about it. jlaff

Agree0 Disagree0

Coleman's certainly come a long way. don't know if i'd go for top 10 in the world at the moment but he's definitely capable.

walker, zabaleta and rafael beat him out at the moment. but if he keeps improving like he has been I think he can rival walker for the best in the prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's going to be great watching coleman grow like baines has in his time with us, the lad is class

Got to get McCarthy In from Wigan. He is running the show against England. pure quality

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree flog the one dimentional Fellaini for £26/8m and buy him for £8/10m job done

Agree0 Disagree0

This Whealen fella is takeing the piss out
Of us now first he says he will let Martinez go now saying he wants 2 mil
For him then when he sees us sell felli
For 24 he will then want 15 for McCarthy knowing the player and manager will want to link back up together this will be 5 mil over his worth any other Wigan players will also
Be over priced we need to tread carefully with this slimy fella he's looking to take us for a right few quid IMO get vp I would rather take Porto
Players than Wigan ones

As a fan of the 'peoples club', I hate to see our fans arguing with each other on forum like sites such as these, and particularly on groups on social networking sites where there are 'fans' from the other side of Asia making their views known, despite the fact that they have never been to Goodison.

Due to this, it pains me to say that I disagree with many views of so called 'fans'.

Firstly, the badge. Yes, I understand how it takes away part of our history, and we, as fans, were not consulted. However, at the end of the day, it's a badge. As a football club, we have better things to worry about than the badge, particularly now we have no manager. The club have said it will be changed after next season, so quit the moaning. please!

Secondly, personally I am a fan of Martinez, and would be chuffed if he was appointed our next manager by Bill. I do believe however, that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I can understand why people make their feelings known about who they want in charge. But, for those who are saying 'Martinez out' before he has even been appointed, I'll say it politely, please be quiet!

As a young lad, 17 years of age, it amazes me how football fans with more than double the experience of changing managers and of football in general, show such stupidity in times like Everton are going through at the moment.

I'm sure the real Everton fans, like you Ed, will understand where I am coming from. Feel free to comment if you agree/disagree.

P. S. no offence intended.

Everton 'til I die. {Ed025's Note - all i want matty, is the best for the club, i dont care if its vitor, roberto, or uncle tom cobbley....we should all back whoever gets the call..

A good post young man and well put. All that is happening is that real blues (not those who come on once and a while) feel very passionatly over events. My dads first game was Bill Dean's record 60 goals against Arse so no apologies, I owe it to the old fella (long gone) to shout out if I believe people who have not supported this club for a long time are calling for a 'nice man' who I believe is simply not up to the task.
Keep the faith!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mattyowilliams, what you doing tomorrow?

Bill is conducting interviews! matty for manager! {Ed025's Note - mattyo roberto....sounds good to me..

Agree0 Disagree0

So you are totally against fans who have never been goodison? so you only want people in this country able to get to goodison to be blues? get your head out of your arse

Agree0 Disagree0

Please don't confuse passion with stupidity just because you might not agree with the strength of feeling expressed over and over by so many fans about all sorts of issues - and that's irrespective of whether you agree with their particular point of view or think the issue is unimportant. This is a rumours and banter site and I enjoy the craic - even if some issues are done to death and some posters IMHO just enjoy being contrary or cantankerous (no names, no pack drill!). It's surely up to the Eds to draw a line under any subject once it's past its sell-by date and not let through repetitive or boring posts.

Ok. let's guage everyones preference between Pereira and Martinez without it culminating in a slanging match. We've all read points and opinions good and bad for both men, so I think a simple show of hands so to speak.
Agree button for Vitor Pereira
Disagree button for Roberto Martinez

In the vain (very vain) hope that anyone with any sway in our club actually listens I will post as Neville Chamberline did to Hitler in 1939. the last chance to reason.
Oh shove it, ed thinks Martinez is the man I think he is (a very nice man) but the worst possible choice for this club, I predict if this man takes over we will be in massive trouble very soon.
We have some very goood players at this club. come on guys let's have some ambition. Yes Porto boss is my favourite but in all honesty I would take 'Internal apppointment' after the last 24 hours. get out of Poland Bill and quick! {Ed025's Note - i dont remember chamberlain saying.."shove it".

Honestly can't see why so many people are opposed to Martinez. I understand he got relegated with Wigan, but that's largely down to their defence. Any team with Figueroa, Caldwell and Alcatraz are going to struggle. What I will say is that if, (and remember that it's an if) he comes to us, he's going to have Stubbs and Weir in his ear on how to organise a defence and he will be using players like jags and baines and distin. These players are much better than the defence he had at Wigan and he's used to working in such a s**** budget too. I honestly think he can do a good job at Everton, get us playing a bit better football more attacking. It's worth a try since the 4-5-1 hasn't managed to push us further than 5th/6th. That being said I'm also I reigned about this Vitor Pereirra since he's European and has the pedigree f winning a league, albeit with a largely inherited side. Stop all the doom and gloom boys and be excited. These times yet are a changing.

good post but do we appoint a manager for attack and others to sort defence? Lad he not good enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez is not bad at defence his cack Wigan defence are and they had half of them missing this season we would struggle if Jags, Distin and Coleman were all out for long periods of time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez bought that defence. He coached that team. The buck stops with him.

And he has spent more money in the past few years than we have!

ed25 I am just wondering why you have backed martinez (spelling) all the way, am not so sure about him and its not because wigan got relegated, its more to do with I think he is just to much of a nice guy, I don't see him having a go at the team if we dnt perform which will need at times to give the team a kick up the ass, am not sure he will command the respect of big players, and am not sure he has any player pulling power. he never looks angry and for me I want to see that bit of bite when we don't perform, I just dnt think he has that in him, felli said when he butted that player stoke I think it was moyes hammered him, and it was frightening, I dnt see martinez doing that, we need the players to know if they dnt do it they won't get away with it. just my opinion but I think we need abit more than martinez, but am no expert by any means {Ed025's Note - none of us are mate...i have given my views on why i rate him..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 May 2013 19:43:35
Everyone should lay off svenny he's only posting his information on the site for our sake only not anything else so if you don't believe him scroll down to the next post and read that just don't slag him off for no reason and if your going to slag him off go on the fans forum who selected the new badge you will be well suited in there

Eddie {Ed025's Note - thats fair eddie..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And his 'info' is BS, he stated last week done deal with pereira and since all his posts have been him back tracking

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as I'm concerned, as long as he doesn't use offensive language - which he hasn't and the Eds wouldn't let that through anyway - he can post whatever he likes on this banter and rumours website. If you don't like what he's posting, just scroll on down. Besides, if you don't agree with him, you can post a response - that's what banter is ;-) {Ed025's Note - your right jonesy..

why would we want a coach who ain't got a clue about the pl stick with martinez who got the experience, young, gets his teams playing attractive football (look at swansea wot he done there not wot laudrap as done he made swansea a decent team not laudrap) I know wigan got relegated but he ain't got players as good as ours so let's get behind him and I honestly believe he his the man for us

dave

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No Laudrap didn't make Swansea a decant team as they were already that when he took over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez has experience of fighting for his life in the prem, not for me, rather take a gamble/step forward with vp instead of staying in the same position/possibly dropping down in the league

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 18:50:23
if fellaini goes I think we should take a look at benat from real betis he's 25 and would be a great addition for around 10m he has 8 assists this season and has been in great form, martinez sign him up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 May 2013 18:28:52
new boss must have prem experience. that's vital. or we be playing catch up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 May 2013 18:28:09
Pereira has no pl experience but has won Portuguese league and has champions league experience, Martinez has pl experience but has been in the bottom 4 since he took over.
My first choice would be slaven bilic, I know he has no pl experience but he has been a national coach played in pl, and is manager of a club side ( can't remember who ). I wanted him before Martinez and pereira he loves efc, knows the fans and club, plus he and his family were well looked after by efc
Just my opinion but I will back whoever we get as we evertonians do.
Jc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 May 2013 18:14:32
Isn't it funny how so many wanted martinez before pereira name got mentioned. I will be happy with either of them. Martinez edges it for me as he has had PL experience. Pereira hasn't had any so it would be a risk, but whoever gets it I will give them my full support for next season.

Andy {Ed025's Note - me too andy..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree, Martinez for me too, but you won't hear any complaints from me if we get Pereira. At least we didn't do a Stoke and go for Hughes!

Ed just been reading some of your replays on rumours 2 and a lot of them you were saying about Martinez. he's favourite he's had interview etc etc. but then you said he's had a interview and that's all. You also said don't jump the gun when people said negative things about Martinez. Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 May 2013 17:05:06
If you beleive tv, The Relegation Manager has got the job.

Deep sadness if we appoint him, I'll give you all till boxing day, and when we have 21 points and lurking in the bottom half of the bottom half, you lot supporting this appointment, might just start to see the light, and how it is so wrong to appoint a manager with such a league record as his.
He knows how to survive, or nearly in last years case, he is no more than that, Our long and illustrious record in the top flight is in jepordy this season, But knowing how BK works, he will hang on to him until its all to late.

Im in a real bad mood over this appointment, I must be one of only a few who can see what's coming.

And its not about being positive or negative, the Guy long term is a loser, and for all those who have bought season tickets, I know from my point of view I ain't seeing half on home wins on my ticket. {Ed025's Note - you need to get a grip biffy...if my bird was in charge...we would still be in the top half..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed025:

Your birds name isn't Hope Powell by any chance is it? {Ed025's Note - i wish.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I admire your positivity ED, however, Stats back my point all the way.

This guy is a long term loser, FA cup aside, Wigan fans would swap it back for the Prem.

We are no way finishing in the top half, Even if your bird streaked in front of the opposition goalkeeper, in every game to put him off. {Ed025's Note - she,s not that bad mate.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

'knowing how BK works he will hang on to him until its to late' what like he did with walter smith? oh hang on he sacked him and got DM in to save us from years relegation battles any appointment will be a risk we have to get behind the new man whoever that may be and as someone posted earlier jurgen klopp was relegated before he went to dortmund and that was a failure wasn't it? and just for the record 1st choice VP 2nd choice RM for me

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2013 16:57:04
Listen lads I still think there is some legs in us getting pereira. Bk said still 2 to interview. I think one vp and one bilic. So let's just see what happens. But whoever it is even if its Martinez let's not be negative. I know there is a lot of people on here who don't want him. Ok ed a challenge I think Martinez would be a cr#p appointment you disagree- let people tell us but
dont. cheat by blocking us VP suppprters {Ed025's Note - how very dare you!!!..i have never blocked a vitor post, or any other post, unless it was abusive!!...and i take umbrage that you would even suggest that!..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your very wrong mate to even suggest that to ed25 I am a Peiera fan too and all my posts about him get posted I think your a little paranoid mate stay of the green dragon. {Ed025's Note - cheers stef..

Agree0 Disagree0

OP:

Ed025 has nailed his colours to the mast for sure : (

However diametrically (it's ok ed its not a naughty swear word) opposed I am

he still gives me a chance to post my stuff though:) {Ed025's Note - and always will 247..by the way, my colours are not nailed mate, martinez or pereira would be my preferred choices though..

Agree0 Disagree0

All these VP fans are pathetic I bet none of you had even heard of him 2 weeks ago. Just get a grip will you.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're right but we've all heard of RM and what he's achieved with Wigan OK they won the FA Cup but got relegated the same season. Doesn't fill us with confidence I'm afraid, if we do go for him then I hope he can fulfill the ambition of the supporters and the worries of us VP supporters are seen to be ridiculous.

Reading Pereira's record 2 league wins in 2 seasons and unbeaten this season, for me it's a no brainer but it's still a gamble and only time will tell, but I agree we must all get behind whoever we get in and give them huge support as only Everton supporters can. IVPWT

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because Pereira has a good record in Portugal is no guarantee he will be any good in the premier league. let's face it he hardly gets tested in Portugal, so what's to say he won't come up short against teams like Stoke, West ham and Palace who he's probably never had to face that style of team before. In my view he's more of a risk as we can't afford a manager to be learning the premier league as he goes along.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho was also an unknown when he came to the premiership as was AVB in fact he was Mourinho's coach but they've done OK.

"He who dares wins" as Delboy would say

Kenwright has confirmed that he's already interviewed inside managerial prospects in the first week, and has interviewed managers out of contract in the second week and this being the third week he is interviewing other options.

He has said there have only been interviews and this is clearly where all the betting is coming from. In the first week it was the inside club people like Neville etc who were surprising short odds, and same with Vitor Pereira in the second week when he was interviewed, and its the same story now with Martinez being interviewed this week. I think this is a good things, Kenwright is taking his time and making sure he considers all options. Here's to VP though!

looking like martinez. although he isn't my first choice, I can see the positives in appointing him. I can also see the negatives.

negatives- got relegated
maybe too nice?
can he attract good players to the club?
can he keep the good players we have?
is he a good motivator?

postives- plays attractive, attacking football
will give younger players a fairer chance than dm
players will be keen to impress the new manager
has won a trophy, unlike dm
that's if its martinez (looks likely)

RM is not a complete buffoon by any means he understands the going forward bit, keeping the ball on the ground with swift accurate incisive moves etc.

Its the getting back and defending intelligently that's missing for me!

Agree0 Disagree0

I did mention the relegation bit so in the negatives. the cup was under the postivies so although linked, were not directly linked in my post. although I agree defence is a worry, but with us he has quality defenders such as jags, baines, distin and even an improving coleman (and hibbert is quality defensively just not going forward). I think he will be able to work better with these calibre of players and if stubbs could have some influence as number 2 or still as reserve coach could help him iron out any problems. only time will tell but we are a completely different outfit to wigan.

You ask if he is a good motivator, everything i've heard from the Wigan backroom staff would suggest he is and by all accounts very innovative, i've heard they love working for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

So only one negative then. All be it quite a big one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously the wigan backroom staff mate are going to say that, they are hardly going to slag the guy off. however I hope they are right and I just hope that at times he has that sterness and meaness to treat the players as players and not friends and work them hard when they need it and put them in there place. like dm making fellaini train by himself after the stoke incident.

Eds I made post with link to tv about Laudrup and its not been put up! Why? Some good insight on it!
Tell us he wants Swansea to invest a couple of hundred million and he is staying there because a high profile club will come for him soon!
What is he going to do for us if he needs that much investment? and like iv always stated, he is using clubs as stepping stones, his track record shows he's in and out of clubs in 2 years! Is this mercenary really what we want?

interesting, we don't have a manager yet, and already people are talking about who will bring who with them. So were not actually judging the manager, but the players he has. If that's the case we should have made every effort to get Raffa.
People, players are not sheep, they don't follow a manager just because he goes to another club. They move for money. So the only way we would get some of the names mentioned would be to pay them more than they are currently getting. Add on agents fees and payment to selling club, not going to happen. Unless of course Bill has a little stashed away.
On another point can we stop this obsession of if we sell Felli we will have x amount to spend. Best teams keep their best players, and he is one of our very best.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolutely right mate. He is becoming an iconic figure in the game. Is still only young and will improve further. Plus there's no guarantee that if we did sell him Bil would make that money available to the manager. Whoever he might be.

hmm latest by kenwright

"I will meet Roberto and he's on the list, as I've always said. No more than on the list. "

Kenwright believes he has the full backing of Everton's support as he seeks a replacement for Moyes.

"Evertonians have been great about that list, as I indicated that I thought they would be, " he added. "They've certainly bombarded me with their thoughts and they're not a million miles away from mine.

"You'll always get the odd one who will think that he's got the only idea, and there are a few plumbers and electricians on there who think they can manage.

"But in the main, Evertonians and myself are sort of on the same page.

"The most gratifying thing is that 90 per cent of them just said: 'Listen, you didn't let us down last time. Go with your gut instinct and hopefully you'll get it right again. '

"All I can say is that there's no way I or anyone can say: 'Yeah, we'll get it right. We'll get the right man. ' But I certainly will put everything into getting it right. "

Nobody knows what the future holds and I wouldn't want to be in BK's shoes having to make such a big decision.

When asked was there any favourites he replied no, then he was pressured about certain candidates and his reply was we have a list and that is what we are looking at maybe he could still shock us with Periera and maybe that is why Periera is delaying his decision he could be waiting on a call from bill but it seems as though this might drag into next week coyb.

Afternoon all, like everyone else have been glued to the media coverage for the last couple of weeks about our potential new manager. Will it be Martinez, Peirrer, Lennon or one of the in house old guard, this correctly is causing debate and discussion but at time it has been causing anger and strife amongst us.

If you remember like I do nearly 12 years ago when Walter Smith left the club, Kenwright searched and appointed a young relatively unknown manager that many of us knew very little about, but Kenwright got it absolutely right. Now i'm not Kenwrights biggest supporter but I have faith in him choosing the right man. We have been complaining about the length of time its taking in appointing a new manager, but this is a decision that Kenwright has to get absolutely correct, this new man will have a massive say in our great clubs future and we need not to make rash decisions and appoint someone who is right for our great club and who can take us forward, who ever that may be.

Finally, it has been refreshing how our club has conducted itself lately, both in apologising for the crest and in it's search for a new manager. In a time of massive money and when players, agents and managers can at times hold all the cards, we have conducted our search with dignity and pride, we have made no illegal approach's for managers, ad we did not destabilise any club before the end of the season in our search. In fact, as bit of a tit that Dave Whelan is, I can't remember the last time a club owner recommended that his current outgoing manager go speak to another particular club, and for him to comment on how Kenwright conducted himself in requesting to speak to Martinez is something we can all be proud off!

We have complained all weekend about the absence of our clubs moto 'Nil Satis, Nisi Optimisum' from the new club crest, but we must remember that this statement has to be included in everything the club does, especially in choosing our new manger!

Not my words but makes for depressing reading that tell it as it is.
There's no need to say that this record simply isn't good enough and the proof is in the pudding as Wigan have been relegated this season. The club finished in 11th place under Steve Bruce the season before Martinez arrived. They dropped to 16th the first season under Martinez and finished six points above relegation. They were 16th again the next season and three points ahead of relegation. Last season they improved to 15th and finished seven points above relegation. This year, they're going to finish in 18th, perhaps just one point out of safety.

But there's been a trend since Martinez took over the club and it hasn't really been a good one. Wigan simply don't start paying their best football until the end of the season when the relegation battle heats up. They've been playing with fire since Martinez took over and this year they got burned. With the same thing happening season after season I find it hard to believe the situation was never rectified and owner Dave Whelan was satisfied with it.

It's beyond me why Martinez is considered to be such a good manager and why Whelan would want to stick with him. The club hasn't improved under Martinez, it's just barely kept its head above the water and has now sunk to the Championship. I've got nothing against Martinez as a person, but as a manager he just isn't pulling his weight. The FA cup and getting into the Europa League are excellent accomplishments and his team plays attractive football, but the results aren't there. Either he has dragged the team down with him or the team has dragged him down. Either way, he's responsible for the squad on the pitch.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice guy, but, I agree with every word in they above post.

I'm not saying he should be a regular starter, but when he has played for the first team, he has impressed and proved a handful.

His record in the reserves, or u21's this season, is very good in terms of games to goal ratio.

Is there something that he lacks that is vital to play first team football for the club?

Wigan owner Dave Whelan says Roberto Martinez is "tailor-made" for Everton, after the Spaniard signalled his intention to leave the Latics.

Whelan tells tv Radio 5 live, Martinez is "a fabulous manager" and a "must" for the Toffees -
This from a man who wanted two minutes silence for the fabulous Mrs. Thatcher.

To all those doubting Martinez - Wigan are a Micky mouse club with Micky mouse finances (see how many fans they get at home and also bring to goodison) and the reason they got relegated was because they had unbelievable injuries to all their defenders for most of season so he was having to play all kinds of players in defense.
He's a very well respected manager and
Dave whelan has tried his best to keep him, including that little trick of saying he would go to a 'bigger club' than Everton.

ed 25. This is a question, not a criiticism ; with respect, what is it in Martinez that you see that the vast majority of us do not? In four years, he has won 26 prem games, that is an average of just over 6 games per season. In every season, relegation has been there as an option to the final game, but this year they are finally down with a game to spear. Please spare us the goodison cup tie, wigan did not win that game, we served it up on a plate. So, in truth, what do you think he brings to the table? {Ed025's Note - i am not trying to sell the guy to you mate, i just think we could do a lot worse....lets see who is realistically out there...lennon?..O,neil?..never in a million, or someone within..stubbs , weir, neville= no experience..for me there are 3 candidates..pereira, very good, but seems he will stay at porto, laudrup..not leaving swansea anytime soon, and martinez, can work on a tight budget, media friendly, plays good stuff, and well respected..this guy just seems to tick the boxes for me, and with a far superior squad, and what looks like a possible decent war chest, i believe he could carry on where moyes left off, and maybe even more..whoever we choose will be a gamble, and he has not signed yet, but if he does we need to back him to the hilt, and not act like spoilt children who,s mummy wont buy them the dearest toy in the shop..

Fair comment that Ed 25, although personally speaking unless I am bought Laudrup from Managers R Us the temptation to spit my dummy out and throw a hissy fit may be too much to contain ;) {Ed025's Note - you never know WtG..you may get to like him..

Would anyone like Marek Hamsik from Napoli? As a marquee signing for our new manager, I think the board should go in at the deep end, sign a world class player to assist the new manager and aid the process of transition. Or Honda

Yano what I have never seen our fans argue with each other so much it's getting annoying now ino people have opinions I put a post on the Everton official website sayin I think Martinez deserves a chance and I got absolutely slated by fellow Everton fans its embarrassing. So many people are being negative and over the top. I just want what's best for our club like everybody else

Dan sorry but you are getting slated because the vast majority do not want this man and are being forced to accept a second class manager instead of the likes of VP or Benitez.
Many of us are genuinely scared of this guy's potential to relegate us!

Speak for yourself Mushy. The Evertonians with common sense can see that he won't come to Everton thinking he'll try and keep us up, he'll come to Everton thinking about winning, challenging for European trophies & lifting trophies. Why oh why do you think he'd get us relegated? Because of 26 wins in 4 years at a sh*t club? Behave.

If we played Coleman and Baines as wing-backs, who would be your three-man defence? Jagielka for sure; Distin for another season; who else - Duffy maybe or Stones or someone else?

Duffy, stones is a right back

Agree0 Disagree0

I've read that Stones might develop into a centre-back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bring in new centre-back, possibly someone with experience at highest level on the cheap, either Raul Albiol from Real Madrid, or Ezequiel Garay from Benfica

How about instead of moaning about martinez. Why don't you get behind the man and support him if he does take the job. Give the guy a chance. If you want perierra go and support porto

Andy {Ed003's Note - There is a good post from a Wigan fan I put on the banter page on the main site if anyone is interested}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed003: it is a well written post by the Wigan fan on the main banter site - one that'll strike a chord with several of those on the Everton site. I'm not one of those who'd agree with him - I think Martinez might do very well with the better players in the Everton squad. Either way, I'll give whoever's appointed the chance to prove himself as Everton manager. I?WT.
