Degsypulford regarding your post below that Martinez signs too many midfield players that don't score. I don't agree with this. Yes the 4 you list is true. Apart from them you have midfielders who scored so far this season Barkley 12, Lennon 6, Del boy, Naismith and Mirallas with 4, Cleverly and Osman with 1.

It's not that bad really. That's 32 in total from midfield. Yes Lukaku has 25 and Kone 7 but part of the reason Lukaku scores so much is because he is our only striker. a lot is relied on him but when you play only one striker and the teams main objective is to get him into the end of a pass / cross this has to increase his goal tally.

I am far from Martinez's biggest fan and I am a bigger admirer of Lukaku but generally I've been very happy with Martinez signing of players. It's the way the team is set up to play that relies so much on Lukaku and limits the chances the defensive midfielders have of scoring. Eg Barry, McCarthy, Besic and Cleverly the players you point out.

It's more to do with Martinez and the way he sets up the team imo. I think that has got more to do with Lukaku scoring so much and others not.

Saying that I'm very happy with Barkley's tally. His assists record is good too. I'm also happy with Del boy's goals and assists tally seeing he hasn't got a proper chance to play in months. His place went to Lennon who's goal tally is decent seeing he hardly got playing at all before Xmas. Mirallas has barely played this year and he has 4. Naismith got 4 also for the short time he got to play on the pitch.

So those 5 midfielders can't really be told they haven't scored enough imho. As I said its more Martinez's style and tactics that has led to Lukaku being relied on so much rather than the players being at fault for not scoring enough.

The remaining scorers are Funes Mori 4 and Coleman 1. That's what I've seen anyway.

Imho the problem is not scoring goals but conceding them. Martinez hasn't a clue how to organise defense. He never has. I don't get why anyone thinks that will change all of a sudden.

New manager who gets the team playing more like a unit and limiting goals conceded would do better imho.

Add one blue c/h to another blue c/h and what do you get? To be fair it was a foul on Phil, but both goals have come from defensive mistakes. Welcome to Everton's world England.

How has jagielka being smashed in the back his fault.you have said England lost because of two Everton centre halves.give your head a wobble. Sick of reading of constant put down of our players off our own fans.by the way lukaku scored for Belgium but they lost.free transfer for him now like.

Agree on Jagielka, it was a blatant push in the back, yet again a couple of second delay would have sorted it with a video ref. As for the loss, yes I will directly attribute its beginning to a Manager allowing Stones to be last man and Stones himself. There is no way Stones should be left as last man out, yes he is a very good ball player and very good at bringing it out but he can do that playing directly in front of a back 3 or 4.

Watching the England game with my lad (16) I mocked sick note sturridge's gold lame' boots only to be told by my lad that they were quite cool.
My response that real men wear black boots was met with derision and laughter.
So, just for fun, what's the preference, traditional black footy boots or these multi coloured new fangled boots?

ps my lad also believed me when I told him Royston Vasey was an Ajax player in the 70's.

{Ed002's Note - A while back Charlton banned all of the non first team squad from wearing anything but black boots.}

I could imagine brian clough only allowing all black and me too bit girly for me.

Boots should only come in black. Some players are worse than women.

dont watch england they bore me rigid but I have to say its bad enough that the joke that is henderson is deemed good enough to get england caps but even worse milner is deemed good enough to captain his country. the world really has gone mad.

{Ed033's Note - yes, but the pièce de résistance/cherry on the top would be to have Roberto Martinez as the next England manager.

29 Mar 2016 22:31:09
It's not the boots, it's what's in them that counts.

Adidas copa modial Umbro speciali and Puma kings. The best boots out there for the last 40 years. All made in black. All the greats used these.

{Ed025's Note - i had a pair of george best lace up at the side purple boots in my youth dentie..

I had black adidas fx100's because Trevor Steven and Kevin Sherry wore them. didn't make me play like them though.
I see Ed025 had a pair of George Best boots, nowadays all I can afford is boots from george.

{Ed025's Note - times are hard RIB, but not as hard as when i was young when my shin pads were a rolled up echo mate.. :)

As long as they are predominantly black, a bit of colour isn't too bad but some of these new boots are shocking. When I played, if you wore flash coloured boots then you were a target for a bit of a kicking!
My favourite boots when I was a kid were the asics vialli st, fell apart after a season though despite being looked after. I was devastated. Puma King and adidas predator were decent boots too.

Puma king all the way. I know what your talking about with the coloured boot kid getting an extra bit of kicking spudv. No harm as far as I'm concerned. It's football not a fashion cat walk.

You'd swear some were trying to do a bit of modelling with the boots they wear nowadays.

{Ed025's Note - i done some work for ryan babel a couple of years ago NBTB and he had a box of boots in the garage, i could not believe how flimsy and soft they were mate..its no wonder players get so many injuries..

30 Mar 2016 21:34:10
Ha, Ryan Babel is that the usual red signing. Buy a player, keep him for a couple of years and then sell him for half of what he cost. Saying that City paid big money for a certain red last year.

How many games has he played this year? Must of got a few boots out of Ryan Babels box in the garage. Eh Ed025 😂.

{Ed025's Note - nah mate, far too big for me.. :)

The way Bobby organises our defence, I half expect our defence to run out in size 28 red shoes, bowler hat and spinning bow tie, to the tune of march of the gladiators.

He's had one bad game along with most of the rest of the team in that game. This lad loves playing for us and has the ability to be an outstanding player. Support them in them in tough times when they are trying.

I'm sick of hearing about them. Him and Kev. Stones has done himself proud in how he has dealt with his speculation since he handed in a request. He kept his gob shut and got on with it.
