As a millennium born, I've grew up idolising Tim Cahill as he gave everything for this club and I only wish him the best at Millwall. I personally would of took him for 6 months just to show some of the lads what fight is. I miss the days where we scrapped for everything and wore our hearts on our sleeves. Something this lot don't have.

Love the guy. Don't half miss him at the club. No idea if he's good enough anymore but in my eyes he's a legend.

Was just going to add a post on here about Cahill, we never really gave him a send off and I agree with the World Cup coming up, I would have loved his finale until the end of the season in an Everton shirt.

One of my all time fav players and wish him all the best at Millwall.

Just read that west ham aren't going to peruse schids after bad feed back, typical west ham, like a very small dog, loads of bark but nothing to back it up, more rubbish to say to the fans we are trying to buy when really there loan from
Inter is it.

Del boy has any amount of talent. We could be doing with his pace. No doubt about that.

I thought he had to stay with Barcelona for a full season.

Reckon Sam thinks we have the direct runners at the Club now and to some extent I agree with him. The left side defence and wing back has been a major worry throughout the season and still has not been addressed this window. Can only hope that, with Coleman back (RB/ WB) Sam thinks that Kenny may know what he is doing at LB or and it is a big or Garbutt is now ready.

Ok I am climbing on my soapbox and putting my penny's worth in.

Take the £20 Million for Schnids, we either invest and bring someone in, or play Beningame, Davies or Rooney there.

If we are not going to draft a left back in, give Garbutt a run out there, I know Martina is playing out of position, other teams know this and bomb our left hand side.

I am not a big fan of Williams, however either him or Keane could be interesting if we play Garbutt as a recognised left back, and Coleman playing on the right, if those two full backs do their job then our Centre half's can focus on playing as a centre half, instead of covering both flanks as well as backup

I will leave judgement on Williams and Keane for now, but we need to ship out Martina and Schnids, we cannot carry on with those two in the team.

Good shout Baz mate.

Agree0 Disagree4

29 Jan 2018 22:42:24
Sounds good to me Baz. We have to give Garbutt his chance. Not for one game though. He needs a run in the side to get used to level he's playing at and to his team mates.

This one chance and you're out is stupid. Plus how many have Snids and Martina had?! Totally contradictory.

My only concern about leaving it this late in the window is we are playing Wednesday night, so not sure how much activity will happen when team's are playing but I suppose lots can happen in the background.

The only thing that worries me is that it’s West Ham. They are always spouting off in the transfer window about who they were in for but couldn’t get over the line. And I fear this is yet another case of that.

I’d love to sell him for the reported £20 million. But it’s West Ham.

29 Jan 2018 21:08:35
With Gold and Sullivan it’ll be £1m up front and £19m in add-ons for them winning the champions league.

Hi Ed 025 it's being reported again that we are in pole position to sign Stephen NZongi in this window what's your take on this and do you think we would keep all our midfielders if he joined, we seem to be well catered for in that position, LB for me is req thanks mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think a left back will be the priority GB but getting the right one is just as important, nzonzi looks very possible mate but time is of the essence and there is always the chance we could get gazumped by one of the bigger clubs..

29 Jan 2018 18:10:30
Thanks for the reply Ed, if Morgan goes it would make sense to bring NZonzi in if available and the right price, still think we will be busy up to the clock on deadline day, fingers x mate.

It seems to me that there are a lot of posts that are made whilst the writer is wearing blue spectacles. Things such as why can't we have Simeone as our manager? Why don't we sign Mata or Danny Rose.

I think that if the club is to make progress it needs to decide where it wants to be. It needs to make a realistic assessment of what it is and where it is. Only once that is all accomplished can a realistic plan be made to close the gap bewteen aspiration and reality.

I believe that the aspiration is that we will be one f the clubs that competes at least for a Champions League place and hopefully for the title.

Currently, we are at best "the best of the rest" bt more honestly very drab and not that effective.

Lacking any hope of Champons League football then the ability to attract players of the highest calibre is limited. We are further disadvantaged by the fact that many foreign players would prefer to live and play in London.

The only way that we would break that cycle is to pay players way over the odds as Manchester City have done. I don't think that we are in City's league financially.

The way forward for a club like us is player development/ We can either take home products and bring them on or pick up and develop promising players elsewhere but we need to take a risk and get in early e. g. Calvert-Lwein and Lookman or pick up someone promising who is off the radar of the more initially attractive clubs e. g. Arteta or commit early to someone that others may have doubts about such as Cahill.

The last course requires shrewd and persistent management that sees to development of players as a necessary step to developing the club to where we want it to be. At that point the club might well be able to attract name players and managers in addition to developing its own players.

Glennk,
We all want the same just peoples opinions see it can pan out in various ways.
We would love to just keep hold of all our star players from young imagine if we kept all the players over the years. Rooney, Rodwell, Barkley, Lukaku and Stones.
It is very difficult to keep these players they are not willing to wait for the club to progress with them and give us a few years, once they reach a certain level they all want instant trophies and wages to match.
Any manager has his work cut out to keep a squad together even harder when you keep changing manager as this sends the wrong message out to players that we are not a stable club.
I do believe we have a golden generation of youngsters coming through in the next couple of seasons. It’s the board and managers job to persuade any players coming in to sell the project to them along with the new stadium.
We can’t compete with teams that can offer champions league at the moment. So we need to think smart we either pay through the nose to attract a couple of marquee signings (Vardy and Evans would be available if we offered enough money to players and clubs) to make people sit up and say these mean business. Or we have to bring players in that are on the fringes of champions league squads who want a game. Ie Danny Rose or Sturridge.
If we don’t make progression our stars of the future will follow Ross one by one. Pickford, Holgate, Davies, DCL, Dowell and Lookman. We may well get good money for these players but will never be able to replace them as we have never done before and we just survive in mediocrity.
Don’t get me wrong it’s not all doom and gloom Sam has brought in Walcott which could turn out an excellent buy and it’s a case of fingers crossed with Tosun as it’s to early to judge. Maybe a couple more players in as I have said in previous post to help the youngsters out we could well just have a break one season with no Europe distraction a strong 11 players backed up with young diamonds. That’s my hope anyway one season to break into top four and cease our moment.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2018 19:15:34
The idea of initially improving through the development of players does not exclude that we may have to sell players along the way that we would rather have kept. The tipping point will be when the likes of Lukaku cannot see any reason why they might want to leave as United et al cannot offer anything that Everton cannot.
That point won't be anytime soon but it should be the aim of the process. As I said it will require shrewd and persistent management. The kind of recruitment that brings in Kante and Mahrez of which Tosun may be an example rather than Walcott on the basis that there is something he can show for us that he couldn't in a decade at Arsenal.

SKY reporting that West Ham are in for Schneiderlin. Please let this be true. Never has a player failed to live up to his early promise more than Morgan. Get it done then reinvest. The lad from Inter would make sense after this deal, or perhaps Nzonzi who SA wouldn’t rule out earlier. It’s getting exciting.

I’m a bit confused with Garbutt situation, he’s in the squad for Wednesday but Dave Prentice said he was also in squad v West Brom I didn’t realise that he was, I thought he was waiting to be registered in squad. Why didn’t he play then?

I think we might be done can't see a LB coming in as the fraud has now moved Garbutt to the first team which should of been done a lot sooner even if he isn't a long term solution he is a LB and better than Martina I think we also need a midfield player who can pick the ball up and drive forward Nzonzi would of been perfect but I can't see it happening I think we have enough to stay up and once a new man is appointed in the summer we will have to start again which is embarrassing considering this was meant to be our turn to try and gatecrash the top 6.

SA is this seasons fraud? it used to be Martinez then Koeman, I'm not sure what your expectation is maybe Pep, Mourinho or Poch?
You do not know his remit from the board, SA has said he needs to trim the squad, and he may have a limited budget. I think his two signings Tosun and Walcott are good, we now have a striker and an experienced winger with pace both were needed.
He and the board will look to strengthen within the financial constraints the club have. I believe they are doing t best they can with what's available and do not want to buy just for the sake of it.

Thumbs down from me for slagging the manager.

Agree3 Disagree2

29 Jan 2018 14:07:51
Personally don't see anything wrong with sticking with luke and bainesy for this seasons, if big sam has evaluated him and thought ok give him a go then why not, would you rather him splash out on players we don't urgently need, all be it ok we do need a left back but etting luke back in could do us until the end, I wanted us to be coy with money this window as if sam splashed everywhere and we binned him in summer the new manager might not want them and just becomes more of a mess with a big squad of players that hardly fit the bill:)

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2018 14:30:14
Sam is a fraud and should never of got the job but once he did he had my support which he has now completely lost we must play the worst football in the premiership he says we lacked pace yet we had vlasic Mirrallas (still here at the time) lookman and Lennon (again he was still here) yet he decided to play 2 holding mids and sigs on the left I'm at a loss how fans can still defend the man stick with him til the summer give him his 5 million or whatever it is and we will start again.

29 Jan 2018 14:38:06
Thumbs up from me BLUEY. To be honest we all knew he was a fraud before he even come here 👍🏻.

29 Jan 2018 14:55:40
Vlasic is not ready for the premiership yet that showed against WBA, Mirallas was moody and disruptive within the squad, Lookman is still learning and will no doubt contribute and lennon had struggled for any form and has now moved on.
This squad as I have said is not his, we all know it not good enough and it is unbalanced, he will no doubt do his best with what he has and what he is given in the way of funds.
He's not been in the job that long and it is not going to change overnight, we need to be patient and stop the constant
moaning. All the negativity about shows on match in respect to the atmosphere around the ground!

Agree2 Disagree2

29 Jan 2018 15:16:44
That’s one way of looking at it wakka. The other way is that we hit the panic button far too early and appointed a Wolly who should be managing in the championship, he may of actually won something down there too! He may of not. He’s on a 18 month contract for a reason. Rollonthesummer! Can’t wait to see the back of him and his staff and Iv supported Everton for 30 year plus.

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Jan 2018 15:30:16
Dog I'm surprised how many fans are still happy to defend him I'm a season ticket holder who again has just renewed for next season and it's hard to watch us at the minute even the teams at the bottom attack we seem happy to defend and we don't do that very well as you said roll on the summer give him his pay off and hopefully get the Wright man in.
