Any coincidence that the 2 teams playing 3rd game in 6 days. Couldn't raise a gallop in 2nd Hal today ( and first in our case) ?

Lets all keep calm first and foremost.
This can't get to where we want it to be in such a small amount of time.
Take the postives . leave the negatives out and away from your thoughts.
We have improved. We attack and defend better than we have for a while. The new management system is only 4 months in.
We have better quality players. We have spent less than we did on crap.
We have rarely been outplayed.
We are a striker away from gathering some serious points.
We are improving.
Relax.
We are getting somewhere. keep faith. breathe. relax.

We are lower in the league than last year fact. A bit of attacking football does not make us a better team. The thing s we are a long long way from being any sort of challenger in this league.

Striker is a must. Callum Wilson is whi I'd be going for, RW is a must. Lozano would be my pick, a really good right back, the palace kid is going to be some player and another midfielder. Dacoure or Lemina are very good options. It's not all doom and gloom, just a few results against us. It's going to take a transfer window or two to let Silva and Brands make their mark.

{Ed002's Note - And the money for all of this?}

29 Dec 2018 23:53:19
I'm not saying we need these players in January, just saying who I would go for in the positions we need. There will obviously be out goings to bring funds in but if we could get 1 or even 2 of the players I've mentioned, I think we could be slightly improved.

Meanwhile we are no further along. Yes we attack but we did that under Martinez. We are simply not selecting the right candidates. As Ed002 seems to indicate we cannot keep throwing money at the problem. Mr Moshri somehow needs to get good advice and due dilligence taken. The fella is recovering at the moment but I would pay consultancy for Glenn Hoddle and ask Benitez what he wants to come here when Silva leaves - and he will.

Like I said he's been here 4 months!
He will tinker till he get it right.
He didn't get a striker.
Apart from spurs who has out played us?
Then spurs get stuffed 1-3 by wolves!
This season was always about slow progress.
People saying big Sam was better? You make me laugh at times some of you.
Another couple of transfer windows and we could be turning those performamces into wins.
We have created chances against all opponents this season and If a few more went in we couldve beat lpool and Chelsea and man city at their grounds.
Take a breather naysayers and understand there is still a second half to this season and look at how the fixture list didn't help us.
We play a lot of the bigger (so called) teams at our ground and they won't like that.
Have faith for at least 1 full season before you explode and get toxic again.

I appreciate we won't win all our games but again tactics employed by Marco was baffling along with his substitutions.
Brighton with two big no nonsense defenders it was a mistake to play Richarlison in preference to DCL. Richarlison's conduct and play was akin to a petulant teenager and again he missed a sitter with the goal at his mercy he hits Duffy with his effort. He needs to grow a pair and stay on his feet.
Mina was often exposed and needs to play the ball and not the man - he gave far too many free kicks away in dangerous areas.
I can only think Walcott must be doing all the odd jobs around Marco's house to be continually selected.
Too many players off the pace and short of form including Sigurdsson, Gomes and Richarlison which results in a powder puff midfield and puts pressure on the last line of defence.

Richarlison is not a centre forward, can’t hold it up to link and his movement is too predictable.
Can’t understand the changes today why change the winning side.

Can see why 70% of Brighton's points tally in the top flight has come from their home games. Organised and tough to breakdown as Arsenal and now us have found out. Below par performance by us today with no real purpose going forward.

Brighton were the better team always first to the ball, chased everything.

I know its blasphemy to some on hear to criticise our messiah and saviour Silva but that yet again that was a f###ing dreadful performance.
I don't care what people say he has never proven himself and he is showing that he is not up to scratch.

I agree spike I think he is the worse appointment Everton have made in a very long time and it's going to be a tricky 12 months ahead whether or not to keep him. I know some fans still want want him and we are split but the club just seems to be going round in circles.

the Silva out group seems to be growing, but maybe he has the same blind optimism as some of our posters with blue tinted glasses, 'fatigue", there is one team in the division won 8 games in December, unfortunately we all know who they are, two more in, three out, next window the same, just a question for all you dreamers. who do you realistically suggest will take this load of dead wood that we have off our hands, if we can see they're crap, so can everyone else, I am tempted to include the manager as well. He's a loser and we'll end up like Newcastle treading water if we're lucky or worse.

I know it's early days in Silva's reign and we can't and shouldn't expect miracles, but a bit of consistency would be nice. We were pushed around and bossed about by Brighton today and the Boss had no answer to it. A lot of fifty fifty decisions went against us and there was a bit of inconsistency in the refs decisions, but really they are just excuses. We got what we deserved in the end. Nothing. We have to start 2019 with a bang against Leicester.

GB. I love the fact that you’ve always got a positive. But then again I’d be as positive as you if I lived in a tax haven. Only joking mate. You’re right about Jordan. What a save from that point blank header.

January is always a tough market though. Would rather hold out until summer and get the person MB and MS see as first choice rather than make a knee jerk purchase in Jan.

Too many changes from one game to the next for me. Need some consistency in formation and players. As much as I don’t think Tosun is the long term answer, I’d have Richy on the right, Bernard on the left and Tosun up front. He can finish given the supply. I like DCL but just don’t think he’s a natural finisher. Also struggling to see what we get from Walcott. Need someone on the right who will support Coleman and provide decent supply and goals.

Could be 12th by Monday. Brands was a good appointment as DoF. But to break the rules for someone who in our league is far from successful or even near it and then on top of it, have to pay a premium for Richarlison because Mr Silva wants him just compounds the situation. Did anyone at the Club even consider Mr Benitez or the Leeds Manager/ Coach (highly regarded by the City Manager and others) . You do not change a winning Team, how many times has that been said. I would have settled for a draw today but Brighton deserved the win. Leicester next, let's see which Everton turn up on Tuesday.

29 Dec 2018 17:52:29
Aussie, you are right he was awful today. I only ever noticed him making errors. I never dig players out but the right hand side, including Coleman was terrible today and actually more often than not. Still though it’s halfway through Silva first season so not too gutted.

29 Dec 2018 16:47:05
Well, that’s possibly one of the worst second half performances I’ve seen from us. Strange decisions made too - why on earth keep Walcott on and take Bernard off? Richarlison should have been hauled off after that disgraceful bit of a pantomime. I’d be ashamed of picking my wages up this week if I was an Everton player.

Quite simply Dreadful, dreary and poor. Can't be positive at all on that performance.

Richy needs to stop his play-acting and rolling around like he's been shot do what he does best. As for Theo, I think he thinks he is better than what he is. Most of the players who shone at Burnley failed to put in a performance today and that can't be allowed to continue.

Never ever change a winning side unless forced to with injury or suspension.

For me, we started with 5 at the back, never liked that set up, too congested for me that style, players ease off when they have another 4 alongside them, whereas when you have 4 at the back, they seem to be more alert and on their toes.

Same second half must have had around 4 strikers, all getting in each other’s way, all the opponents need do is cut the supply off and job done.

He needs to stop tinkering, stay with his best 11 and get a run of games playing them together.

Completely agree BigH. Richy’s play acting drives me insane. We lose out on some really good situations because he’s rolling around meaning midfielders have got nobody to play the ball forward to. Also, has anyone else noticed a lot of his attempts at aerial duels outside the box look like token efforts? He jumps near the ball but doesn’t seem to really go for it. It’s like he’s had a serious head injury in the past and is worried about it happening again.

30 Dec 2018 01:13:50
I've noticed that, Windsor. He jumps half heartedly when challenging for a header. If he continues to do that then he will get hurt for real at some point. His theatrics are really annoying for the reasons you've stated. Silva and his staff should be encouraging him to cut it out but it's been going on all season so far.

Tough first half and complete contrast to the Burnley game. A very solid and confident Brighton side making things difficult for us to find any rhythm. Better second half required if we are to get anything from todays match. COYB!

I was all for Silva being appointed so will have to eat my words if it fails. However, I would have thought that he has had enough games now to know who his best team is. We are not in any major comps so hardly need to keep changing players around. Surely he could keep the team the same for as long as possible to get some consistency. I admit I no longer go to the games due to distance and costs but, from what I see on TV, I struggle to see what our actual game plan is at times. Brands has recently supposedly said there will be no significant signing in January. In that case why are we not letting DCL start each game? I think we certainly pose a threat when he is on.

We played well against a very very good Liverpool side and then since we have fallen apart. Liverpool with only a tweak here and there have the consistency week in week out. We showed against Liverpool that we have the determination and 90 minute consistency. So what has gone wrong? Where is the famed man-management skills of Mr Silva. We win well against admittedly a very poor Burnley side, so then our Manager chops and changes the side, it does not make sense. The bloke across the park, every game not only shakes the hand and puts his arms around his own players but those of the opposition too, now that is class, result he gets 110 percent out of every one of his players.
