Whats the latest on the city conncil talks with Everton re a new ground, any info Ed ,cheers GuernseyBlue {Ed025's Note - not yet mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable3

I heard they are trying to reduce the capacity - maybe a 20k seater? Less empty seats then

Agree0 Disagree0

We sold 28,000 season tickets, so how do you work that out Horrible R/S

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton is a small club who cant get above average because a. no money and b. small fanbase - this is why you will never be bought. When Moyes goes you will struggle - mind you - he's never won anything has he? treading water for ten years. these are truths..

Liverpool is a massive club in contrast who will be back in the top 4 within 3 years. When Anfield holds 60k after next year and a striker is bought - along with the amazing young talent they have, the only way is up for them. You must understand that your team is aging and you have no money to replace your main players, I don't see Fellaini hanging around after this season either.. sorry but this is all true and you know it.

Today just shows we have a good team but not enough quality to come off the bench and make a difference mainly a backup up striker with a different style to jelly

Eddy ED025's Note - i agree with the lack of quality on the bench eddy, but for me its in the central midfield area mate..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

What a difference gibson would have made, we were by far the better team today, 17 shots on target to liverpools 3, still unbeaten at home, and playing well, coyb {Ed025's Note - no argument from me mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Why dont we just buy some good talented free agents who are strikers wait for the january window or get some players from the youth {Ed025's Note - you have missed your vocation in life mate....you should be a director of football..

Agree0 Disagree0

We need at least 3-4 quality signings to be able to sustain a realistic challenge for top 4 but there's no money forthcoming as far as I'm aware. If we can get Vadis, on loan, who would have been a perfect fit for today, hotlby for a few mil and donovan for a few months that would be a good start. Then we need to be able to retain our best players. It's a catch 22, we can't afford to splash out, if we don't we won't progress much farther therefore players will be wanting to leave because they're not achieving their ambitions. New ground would generate much needed revenue but we have no cash to build one and no one will buy us out when they have to shell out a few hundred million. It's a sticky situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton will never finish in the top 4. not good enough mate

gazman

Agree0 Disagree0

17 shots on target to liverpools 3? Are you having a laugh?

Agree0 Disagree0

I must of been watching a different game cos not once did I see Everton have 17 shots on target, didnt think neither keeper had that much to do

am i the only 1 on here that saw the foul by coates leading up to the suarez goal the linesman quite obviously waited for the ref to give it and when he didnt he did class decision in my opinion anyway it was his teeth that made im offside horrible disrespectful ****

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Very true what meanies cheats

Agree0 Disagree0

No you're not the only one mate. I was saying at the time that Coates is using Jags' shoulders to get in the air. That is technically obstruction as he's blocking Jags from challenging for the ball.

Today was yet another 90+mins of woeful referring from our friend Marriner. He was awful yet again.
Decisions missed are numerous but the highlights are;

Freekick for us before Ossies clip on the reds kid missed, led to their 2nd.

Liverpool number 7 (will never utter that mans name) takes out Mirallas, yellow card offence missed. Mirallas then has to withdraw from the match with injury suffered.

The reds Kid fouls Baines for blatent 2nd yellow, ref bottles it and lets him off as Captain marvel helps him make the wrong decision.

Liverpool number 7 runs 30+ yrds towards the Everton crowd inciting them with goal celebration (he didnt actually score). 4th official witnesses it and shakes his head in disapproval. No card, no warning, not interested.

Liverpool number 7 stamps on Distin, should be straight red. Finally gets his first yellow.

Captain Marvel goes down easily with Osman, wins freekick that never was for the goal that never was.

Our own Captain goes down, with hands on him and gets booked for not getting up quickly enough it seems.

Coates climbs all over the back of Jags, blatent foul. Ref bottles it yet again and leaves his linesman to pick up the pieces to disallow goal Liverpool number 7 shouldnt even be on the pitch to score.

As I say numerous other incidents that didnt make it a fair match for us.

I am not saying we didnt make it hard for ourselves but yet again its not a level playing field when it comes to officials. I am not naive, there were poor touches and opportunities we didnt take but its getting a little boring having to put up with these refs decisions every week.

Lets not forget Marriners performance in the match against Sunderland in the cup last year at Goodison where he basically let them kick lumps out of our players. Absolutely shocking.

How do we keep getting the same refs every other week? Marriner, Mason, Atkinson. We used to get Walton "the performer" every week but at least he did us a favour and retired.

As I say, not bitter, just very disappointed its a constant struggle with the officials.

When will we get some sort of accountability for these people? With the money in the game we get nothing in the way of reports fans can access or forums that refs could attend. Its appaling frankly.

Agree0 Disagree0

What an embaressment. whinging on.. man up for gods sake. Didn't Evertons second come from a wrongly given throw in?

We need Gibbo back in the 1st 11. It is blatantly obvious that we have nobody protecting the back 4. They are under too much pressure too soon in games. Some of the goals we are conceding are because the opposing midfield are approaching our 18 yard box unchallenged.

We are scintillating going forward a real joy to watch, but I would feel a whole lot better if Gibbo was there to watch out for the lads at the back.

That said though we are still unbeaten in the games when he has been injured in. A few draws granted but still a good return.

Just need to get Mr Miagi to clap his hands and rub gibbos leg so he can be fit for Fulham

COYB
Toffee ace {Ed025's Note - love it ace....and i agree that gibbo will solve a lot of our defensive lapses..

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I posted about neville not being good enough but apart from that dive, i thought he had a better game today and i thought ossie was arguably man of the match today. p.s the sight of gerrard running the length of the pitch to celebrate but only find out it was disallowed will live in my head as long as i live

was a little disappointed with some of the lads today, i didn't like howard running 20 yards to try and get the kid sent off, mirallas waiving imaginary cards, and the whole neville thing. props to him for manning up about it but glass houses and all. {ed025's note - unfortunately its part of the modern game now mate... but we are still miles behind the reds when it comes to cheating..

Believable3 Unbelievable4

If you enjoy your honest, righteous feeling of superiority over the reds then good on you. I prefer trophies and if they come at the expense of honest men then it's fair to say you decided not to cheat and we never forced your hand.

You suffer the hardships of an honest days work whereas we suffer the hardships of having a villified cheat. Both have pros and cons and neither's truly better or good.

Im extremely disappointed this evening, yes we got lucky with the goal and yes after 20 minutes i'd have bitten your had off for a draw, but that aside i feel this was an opportunity lost.

For the 1st 20 minutes it was like the semi last year all over again, we simply didnt show up, what the hell is it about playing the Red Sh...?? but then when we clicked we absolutely destroyed them, we tore them asunder, Merallas was sensational, he was at the heart of everything good we did. when he went off injured we lost our way a bit.

At the back we were quite good if not a bit shaky,
Felli simply didnt look fit and dont get me started about Gueye, how many chances is he going to get, he usless, just not good enough for this level, poor positioning, poor tracking back and shocking decion making!!

All this without Peanuts, Gibbo, A fully fit Felli and a half without Super Kev. If we'd have had all of the above i think we'd be celebrating a very comfortable win.

Here's my (hopefully unbiased) take on today's game:

We were sluggish at the start and conceded two sloppy goals, though their second should never have happened after Sterling dived. Later on the half, Sterling should've been sent off for a second yellow. We looked good until Mirallas came off and after that we were below par and it was a game between two poor teams today.

I personally don't think Suarez shouldn have got a red on Distin, but it should've been his second yellow after the one on Mirallas in the first half that was not given and Jagielka could've been given a red for his 'last man' challenge on a different day. The goal towards the end was (as every fan will tell you) quite clearly offside and Liverpool may have feel robbed but overall there were poor decisions that both teams benefited from.

To be honest, a draw was a fair result though how half their team didn't get booked still baffles me. Andre Marriner was rubbish and I am disappointed that we didn't win today as had we put in some performances from earlier this season we would'be battered them.

The best players for both teams were: Jagielka, Distin, Mirallas, Neville and Naismith for Everton and Agger, Suarez and Wisdom for Liverpool.

I thought we the better team, typical game we the home team having more possession and more chances with Liverpool looking a threat on the break and set pieces. Personally I thought it was a foul on Jags at the end and that's why it was disallowed. The ref had a lot of decisions to make and got some wrong Sterling and suarez could have been sent off but so could Jags. Yes our second goal was not our throw but there was a moment in the second half when fellaini header went over but it deflected of a Liverpool defender so we should have had a corner so some decisions you get some you don't. I dont think we should be do pessimistic we started bad and gave liverpool to much respect after that in 1st half we were 1st to the ball and could easily have gone in at half-time in the lead. 2nd half we missed mirrallas but I thought Geuye did ok no he wasnt the same threat as pienaar or mirrallas but decent. I also thought Coleman played well but certain players get different treatment from fans I thought as a team we played good football at times there were times when Fellaini lost the ball and missed controled it not sure he was 100%, Jelavic had average game and Distin nearly cost us when suarez got away from him, these players dont get the same comments as Geuye, Coleman and Anichebe, used to be the same with Hilbert and osman. We got Gibson Pienaar and Mirralas hopefully back for our next game.

Robbie

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Your taking the p.ss about gueye surely my friend i wouldnt pick him pudding or beef on the holla he is sh.t.jimmy {Ed025's Note - he is not the ideal man to bring on jimbo...but to be fair....the guy does give 100%..

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with you jimmy, gueye is clueless. Is he really a professional footballer or is he just impersonating one. The kid is a joke and not to be too savage or unrealistic but I doubt he'd get in many conference sides. How he's an international player is unfathomable

Red coming in peace. Respect to Moyes in his after post game interview, talking about Suarez celebration. 'I thought it was great, i would have probably done the same thing.' Nice to see that he has a sense of humour.

Good game today, gutted to see more decisions go against my lot, how many points are officials going to cost us this year? But i know you lot will agree entirely after all you've been robbed on a few occasions, seems like its only the Red rubbishe over at Old Toilet who seem to get the rub of the green. That sending off for Torres today sums it up.

Good luck for the rest of the season, apart from in our rematch.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you look at that 'offside' goal at the end. I am sure that the replay from one angle showed his teeth were slightly in front of the last man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look the rs never even had to work hard to go two goals in front , what was moyes tactics in first half? sit back and let them come on to us catch them on the break.might work at swansea but this is the derby pride at stake.took us to go 2 behind before we woke up and started to play. mirallas was ripping the back outta them before a premeditated foul by donkey teeth put paid to him.then he does the same thing to distin.second half i cant remember jones having a save to make.feel sorry for jelly running around like a loon when hes a natural born goalscorer where not once did we service him in the danger area ie. pnalty box.somehow even though 2 nil down moyes wil be more pleased with the point than brenda.you only hae to look at moyes derby record which is abysmal to see this. jimmy {Ed025's Note - you have to move on jimbo, they are made up with a point! we were by far the better side, look at the stats mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Made up with a point? What are you smoking? Why dont you take a look at our page and see how its really like? Oh and by the way, congratulations on successfully emulating sotke ciyt

hounsred {Ed025's Note - come on mate!..you are well happy with a point, you played a top 4 side, and came away with a result!...thats progress for you pal..

Agree0 Disagree0

Top 4 side? haha the first time you lot have been in the top 4 in 25 years? The previous 25 youve been worrying about relegation. I'll be cutting-and-pasting that top 4 comment for your entertainment at the end of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm 2004/05 ? Was that really 25 yrs ago. Also top 5 -7 net spend £1.2m a season. Not too shabby is it. Whereas your net spend is top 10 in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Oct 2012 17:10:42
I said yesterday I'd take a draw and after 20 minutes today I'm sure everyone else would have too. From 20 minutes onwards we controlled the game but they always looked dangerous on the break. We ran out of steam and ideas in the second half and I would have liked to see Oviedo ahead of Gueye (who is not good enough) his pace would have caused them problems down the left.

Suarez goal should have stood but he should have been sent off after the challenges on Mirallas and Distin.

One question why did Moyes pipe up about Suarez diving he couldn't have motivated him any more if he tried! Oh and then could he be more embarrassed by his club captain who decides today of all days to attempt his first ever dive, it was laughable.

Had to sit and watch the game today in a house full of reds, and I think we deserved the point we got. Yes they should have scored a third but he shouldn't have been on the pitch to do so, sterling shouldn't have been on the oil itch either so the ref and linesman has cost both sides, and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it about time we had some luck in the derby, kuyt two footed lunge on Phil, Gerard stamp on Gary naysmith an so on. At the end of the day a point is a point and probably makes for a better city afterwards.

You're supposed to be this big-time team sitting 7 places ahead of us and smashing our young team to pieces - and all you managed was to claw back from 2-0 down to draw - at your own home ground! And who was booked for diving?! Your captain! And had to rely on a very dubious line decision to hold us down! If it was Jelavic - you'd be baying for blood! Singred

Agree0 Disagree0

Some you get some you dont but im happy with our team , some very encouraging things for us like young team now scoring goals and improving all the time , everton away is always a test and with a bit of luck we could have nicked it , good luck to ye .

Agree0 Disagree0

Should have had a yellow for standing on Mirallas, then only got a Yellow when he raked his studs all over Distans Leg, when it was a blatant Red, so the fact is he should not have been in that position in the first place. Should have been sent off.

Aussie Toffee

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah and jagielka ought to have been sent off when he pulled sterling down and was last man, so therefore giving coates a free header at backpost at the end... you were supposed to blow our young boys away today but yet again you struggled against us and we should have won it... moyes for united manager? hes already got the refs in his back pocket!

ian the red

Agree0 Disagree0

And sterling should have been sent off for a second yellow osman got a yellow for the same thing. Therefore jagielka would have been on the pitch Coates wouldn't have a free header. lol

Robbie

Agree0 Disagree0

Calling for a red for Suarez is more than a little odd. A player's reaction tells a lot and he immediately apologized and signalled he caught Distin, says an awful lot if it was intentional.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fact of the matter is, we beat you today 3-2 with a team full of youngsters and you know we did. It must pain you to know deep down that you were beaten. Every time we play you at goodison you give it the big en, its our turn this time, were going to thrash you. But you never do, same in the semi final. We had the more clear cut chances and on another day could've had 5. But there you go, that's football for you. In all honesty I don't think you would've deserved the victory and you can accuse me of being biased but that's an honest assessment

Suarez should have been sent off anyway, so Justice Done!!!!

Then we have to get our mojo on and play some decent stuff and not be negative as in seasons past. Can see them having the majority of possession but we should be able to deal with it comfortably like we did Swansea. To state the obvious, if we play like we did against Villa, Southamptom, Swansea, Man U then we should win comfortably. Anything else and we're struggling for a draw

Just a quick question for you guys, from an LFC supporter. What is the general consensus regarding Wayne Rooney? A product of your academy, and a life long blue, yet he went to United and has been doing well there...do you see him as disloyal or are you understanding of his decision? Would you take him back? I'm just thinking, if Adam Morgan broke into the first team and started scoring left right and centre, and then signed for Chelsea, I can't see our supporters being too impressed, or wanting to welcome him back...what are your thoughts?

I don have any ill feelings towards Wayne Rooney, to me, the lad is still a blue through and through, even gone to a game or two when he has free time and has an Everton kit for his youngster. It was just a bad time to have a talent like Rooney at the club, and personally, we couldn't handle a talent like that at the club at that time.

Reason why? We were relegation threatened and we were in severe financial trouble, of which, the transfer money we got from Rooney got us out of that situation, and also allowed us to reinvest in the squad, and as a result, played a pivotal role in us finishing 4th the next season. That money generated from his sale was MASSIVE for this club, no one should under-estimate the effect it had for the club. And to be honest, I don't think, at that stage, we could handle a talent like that of Rooney, quality wise and financially back then, we just weren't ready, however, as of right now, we most certainly can, and hopefully we will be able to hold onto the likes of young Ross Barkely, George Green and Gethin Jones who are progressing very nicely.

Personally, it was a move that needed to be done, and in hindsight it was the right move, right move for the club (we needed the money) and probably for Rooney (I mean look at the accolades he has won with United). Sure we give him stick once in a while now, but most Evertonains I talk to about the situation, have gotten on with things and accept Rooney.

And lads, don't be surprised if Rooney is back in an Everton shirt sooner rather than later, he is raising his young lad up an Everton fan, and he himself, is a massive Evertonian, he would love to play for the club again, and perhaps when his contract winds down with United, he will be 29/30. Who knows? A lot crazier things have happened in the world of football.

If he played for us again we would back him because he would be one of us. Simple's.

Agree with first poster the only thing I would add is when we sold Rooney I think we could have held onto him a bit longer because it was the euros that summer and beleive his value would have been a lot higher after that.
Also RS you telling me that if you could bring Torres back tomorrow you would say no because I have heard many kopites saying last year we should try and get him back when he was out of favour.

Robbie, I wasn't expressing my own opinions on the matter, was just curious how you guys view the situation in comparison to how LFC have or would in similar situations. If Torres came back, or Owen, or any new player came in, I would whole heartedly support them while they wore our shirt. I was disappointed when Torres left as he would have played well with Suarez, but not angry with him, we got £50m for him, which was way way more than he was worth (typical Roman, more money than sense) I'm more annoyed about what was done with the £50m.
