Not a rumour just to say we have a our own billionaire in Lord Granchester, wouldnt you think that he would help us out with a loan!,we have baines £20mill,Barkley,£20mill,Rodwell £15-£20mill,Fellaini £25mill,jags £15mill....surely he could help us out with them assets..... {Ed025's Note - apparently, he said he will not invest while BK is at the helm!...but if you ask me..hes just a minge bag!!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Would that person cop himself on or get lost. He's supposed to invest in the team and if he's a billionaire he can certainly afford it. He's just acting the person if you ask me. >.

I wouldn't surprise me if Drenthe is on the bench against stoke, even if fit , as Moyes doesn't like changing winning teams if he can help it although if Disty is fit he may well pick him to take care of Crouch ? Id also hope to see Rodwell in instead of Ossie , fitness permitting .

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Can see a 3rd straight Everton win here,2-1 i am going for-probably crouch with there goal, and stoke usually lose and badly after playing the thursday euro game so lets hope we continue it,good site as ever ed. {Ed025's Note - cheers mate ..but get on 3-0...mystic ed

Probably a little too soon for Rodwell to play against stoke, but I'd imagine he'll be on the bench. Good news anyway. We need all our players fit for the crimbo fixtures. Do you think we will win on sunday ed? I fancy us to sneak a 2-1 win.

Bez the Blue {Ed025's Note - i think it will be a bit more decisive bez!!...im going for 3-0 to the blues, stoke play in europe midweek and find it hard to recover for the weekend...COYB..

just found this piece over gary speed leaving everton

Speed's crime was not that the lifelong Evertonian spurned the captaincy and chose to walk away from his boyhood heroes in early 1998. Even the most clueless Blue was pragmatic enough to realise that their massive debts had to be serviced by the departure of big names for big prices. Hence the warm reception afforded to Duncan Ferguson when he returned to the blue half of Merseyside in a black and white shirt in March 2000.

No, Speed's crime was to mysteriously fail to turn up for the coach taking Everton to an away game at West Ham in January 1998, an act that could be deemed out of character for a player who has never been newsworthy due to off-field antics and is considered enough of an example to captain his country.

Having been bothered by this apparent blot on his copybook, we took the opportunity of asking the player himself one night when he was out on the Quayside.

When asked whether it bothered him that he was Public Enemy number one at Goodison, Speed shrugged his shoulders in a gesture of resignation but was happy to give us this version of events.

You may recall that the deal that brought him to Tyneside was somewhat protracted, with miserable Kenny making an initial bid of £5m in late January 1998 - the week before Everton were due to play at West Ham. Upon receipt of the bid from Newcastle, Blues boss Howard Kendall informed Speed of the bid, but confirmed it was insufficient. He also told the player that he thought Newcastle would come back with an improved sum, which would be accepted by the Goodison board.

Aware of the financial plight of Everton and keen to join NUFC, Speed willingly went along with Kendall's request to do things "his way" and complied when the manager told him not to report for the trip to West Ham as Howard thought he "wouldn't be in the right frame of mind to play."

Imagine his surprise later that evening, when Speed checked teletext for the final score and saw a story quoting Kendall as being furious with Speed for his 'no show' and publicly vowing to rid himself of this trouble maker forthwith.

Not surprisingly Speed sought out Kendall to ask him what the hell he was
playing at lying to the press and blackening his reputation. Kendall's
response was that it was easier to placate the Goodison faithful, sell Speed, and bank the money if Speed looked like he was in dispute, refusing to play and therefore forcing the hand of the club.

To complete the stitch-up, it was suggested that any hint of the events that had unfolded appearing in the press would see the Newcastle switch collapse, leaving the player to face the wrath of the Goodison crowd.

Speed finally joined Newcastle in a £5.5m deal on 6th February 1998, and was greeted by the afore-mentioned song when he returned to Goodison later that month. He's been hearing it ever since.

i hope people who read this realise that football is just a game and the awful abuse givin out to some players is uncalled for, gary speed was used by everton in the peter johnson years and he showed what a fantastic person he was by refusing to reveal to the papers the reason behind the no show by speed,
school of science

Believable11 Unbelievable2

This is the most detailed explanation of Speedo's departure that I have read. Still making my mind up about whether I believe it or not. Plus, it's not as distasteful as the one I heard doing the rounds at the time. I won't go into details as it's probably libellous, but did any other Evertonians remember it? To keep it brief, I'll leave it at Speedo/Adrian Heath/no support from club.

Toffee Tezza {Ed001's Note - there was a bit more to it, but it is all stuff I don't want to go into myself.}

Agree0 Disagree0

This is fact he got on the coach and came across a half drunk bottle of brandy when he asked for a exsplanation he was told its the gaffers a.k.a kendall speed was not happy when he found out a player was helping to down the brandy, and he took the matter up with peter johnston, this resulted in an altercation with a number of players and the end result was a parting of the ways...thats a fact

Believable2 Unbelievable13

Can't see that pal. Never see many business men throwing their wages down the drain, let's get real now

Cmon man..give it away..if u won the euro lotto would u give it all to everton for f**k all..don't think so.

Agree6 Disagree0

Give it away......

Ok, let's see.

Bill Kenwright has overseen the change of Everton from perrenial relegation fodder, avoiding the drop on the last day of the season at least twice, to a club that has finished in the top seven/eight every year for, what six years now?

He also was the only chairman to take a vote amongst fans on whether to move from the current ground. Ask Arsenal fans or City fans for that matter if they were asked the same question.

On top of that the club has just opened a school, so that the reputation of the club and its place in society can be used for the good of a lot of people in society.

He has put in place a management team, and that does not just mean David Moyes, which any club would be proud to have. Which means the long-term future of the club is secured.

And to top it all off he has overseen the putting together of a really quality squad.

We haven't won anything, but whenever a member of the Blue Union, or anyone else spouts the kind of crap like this that gets spoken almost every day now, just remember what the club was like in the Johnson era. Remember how close to folding the whole thing came.

Then tell us how we have stagnated under Bill Kenwright's stewardship.

Give it away......yeah right. Isn't it a bit early to be that pissed mate?

Agree11 Disagree0

When are all these so called Evertonians going to cease calling for Kenwrights head? The Man bleeds BLUE & he has stated on many occasions that he WILL sell the Club to the Right & Proper Party, when the time is right. Watch & learn all you so called supporters, all you see is the Millions that might come into the Club with a new owner...you want the big names...names who will be asking for £200,000 per week in wages.....No Thank You,Football as I have known it has long since gone and all thats left is some mediocre young players being made into multi millionaires overnight....whilst most can't even afford to go to the match anymore. Also look at what has happened once again at Portsmouth....owner arrested ! Look at Birmingham after their much lauded Takeover....owner arrested ! The owners at Blackburn are having trouble winning over the Fans.......the Fans who welcomed them with joy. Remember what happened across the Park not so long ago...the list of mistakes goes on. Keep the faith with a Man who has dedicated his life to our great Club...show him some respect and trust him to eventually do the very best for Everton FC. {Ed025's Note - good post that mate...dont agree with all of it..but really well thought out..

As a Leeds United fan I would just like to say what a tragedy it is that Gary Speed has passed away. As well as gracing the shirt of your great club, I am aware that Gary was also a proud Evertonian.

The football family has lost one of its' truly most precious sons.

My sincerest condolences go to his family and friends.

RIP Gary Speed.
