Anyone keep any of these next season?
Garbutt
Williams
Jags (? Coach)
Browning
Galloway
Besic
Shniderlin
Klasson
Sandro (don't think he will want to come back)
Marallas

I don't think we have had anywhere near our moneys worth fro klasson, shniderlin and bolassi.

I’d keep Jagielka with the medium term view of moving him into coaching as you say, plus Browning and Klaasen. Maybe keep Galloway over Browning but not seen him play for a while. Definitely keep Bolasie because he’s just come back from a long term injury and is improving. Offers a real threat so would give him another season to start delivering an end product.

I'd keep Jags as player/ coach. I still think there's a player in Klaasan if we can get a coach that suits his type of football. However, he has people ahead of him in his positions. For his sake maybe moving on is the best thing.

I think k Besic has massive potential as he is showing at borough. However his injuries are always holding him back. If he can stay free of them he'd be a keeper for me. His attitude and determination is one you want in your side.

I'd move the others on.

29 Mar 2018 06:28:54
Why would you have Besic as keeper Blue John? 🤣.

Agree3 Disagree1

29 Mar 2018 07:43:11
More importantly than the question of who would you keep. is who would you promote from the youth team or sign to replace any of them? Because we are in need of replacements for Jags, Baines and Williams immediately. I guess Walcott has replaced Mirrallas? Klaasen and Scneids maybe just need time to settle? They were proven players prior to joining us. Hopefully Keane will have settled by next season too? Lots of changes I think. Plus maybe a new manager? Things are likely to be tough with all this change.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 09:47:52
That is the problem with Besic, his style of play, coupled with his fearless attitude will always result in him spending an awful lot of time on the treatment table. Klaasen, Garbutt, Jags, Browning I would keep. Controversially, Mirallas and Sandro I would bring back also. Sandro never given a chance and Mirallas still a dangerous player and effective when his head isn't in wobble mode.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 13:19:56
I'd keep Jags
Klassen although he hasn't proved himself to us yet
Browning because he was starting to show a bit and then picked up an injury
I'd add Bolassie and Niasse to the leavers - great personalities but haven't the quality in final ball
A lot of business to be done to get replacements though.

The mood certainly is different to last year. People were giving opinions of who they wanted to keep and sell, then followed with but what do we know in Koeman we trust haha.

What a joke that was. I don't really care about player outs. I think 1 or 2 good purchases and a new manager can turn around the players we have here. I think we currently have one of the best in depth squads we have had in long long time. We just have no leader.

Who's signing off on our compensation packages when a manager's sacked? Last 2 have been horrendous by the sounds of it! Big Sam's going to walk off with a lifetimes supply of gravy and £20 mill!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Mar 2018 18:19:30
No one knows who's going to be in charge next season. But who ever is in charge let's give him full backing.

If Sam wins the next two I would definitely give him the job if doesn't win one of the next two I can't see him adding any next season

But like I said if the club do decide to give it to him I will try to give him my full backing

Coyb.

? Win the next 2 games and you get to stay on, lose them and you're gone.
Doesn't make much sense Billy. You have to judge a manager on more than 2 games.

28 Mar 2018 20:41:31
I wouldn't, he has to go in the summer.

28 Mar 2018 22:26:54
Do people really think SA will get sacked though? He’s spent the best part of £50m so the board must be expecting him to stay? Or do people think that was all part of the plan to keep the club in the Premier League? Oh, and one final question, do we really want Europa League again next year if we’re rebuilding?

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Mar 2018 22:55:11
Koeman spent 150 million and got sacked after 9 games, so sure he could go if Moshiri doesn't think he is right for next season. I actually don't think Moshiri will risk having to sack another manager mid season. Wonder that reason, if he isn't convinced then I think Sam will be axed.
Do we want European football? Hell yeah. It brings money and improves our global image.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 09:37:18
European football is great for us, we've shown since going out of Europe it was that doing the damage to us, it was just the team in general! any manager we look at would prefer us to have European football.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 14:15:30
Same for me GB he has to go. His style of play doesn't suit the players. I don't think he is anyway near getting the best from the team we have.

I hope we get a good attacking minded manager. We have a lot of under used (and over used) players in the team. We need someone new but I wouldn't want to be in position of deciding who that new manager is.

So if fonseca is plan A has he already been sounded out about working with a DOF?
Has he worked with one before?
How much influence is the DOF going to be given with regards to Fonsecas transfer plans?
Isn't this the same situation that has caused us problems already?
What is the problem with having one manager who can oversee team affairs and transfers?
I worry that we could have a top manager but perhaps make the job a little too complicated for him before he even starts.
Like I've asked though what amount of influence will the DOF have over Fonseca and his plans?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Mar 2018 19:51:39
Judgeing by Fonseca's comments (subdued rather than diplomatic) I would say his aims are for a Club rather higher than ours. I think Mr Moshri et al either have to throw stupid money at the situation or lower their sights.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Mar 2018 23:34:59
Arsenal and Chelsea are the only teams in the top 6 who may potentially look for a new manager next season, and I think they will be looking for someone a little bit more proven at the top level.
I don't see any reason why Fonseca wouldn't come to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 00:01:49
Fonseca was interested in coming after koeman was sacked by all accounts.

fonseca was very interested in joining us last time we approached if it wasn't for shakhtar blocking everything could very well be in the dug out right now.

I haven't posted on here for a while as to be honest I've gotten a little disheartened with all things Everton after this shambles of a season. I've still been going to the games, it's just that my passion has more recently been replaced with complete and utter apathy.

I don't know whether it's due to the atmosphere in the ground, the wild inconsistency in results throughout the season or the often terrible football on display. I can't wait to see the back of this season and hopefully with a new manager, new director of football and a few good signings will come more optimism and I will see the Everton team and Goodison Park that I love again.

I think there are two things that we have learned from the Sam Allardyce debacle this season. Firstly, that appointing the right person is more important than ever at this moment. There needs to be a manager that the fans can get behind. This could be a newcomer (e. g. Fonseca) , a well respected manager (e. g. Ancelotti) or an up and coming manager (e. g. Dyche) . Secondly, that manager needs to be given a chance to create something, and needs time to make mistakes (particularly if they have never managed in England before) .

Realistically, every manager is a risk. Even if Simeone decided that he loves the Blues because Brett Angell was his idol in the 90s, there is still no guarantee that his style of football would work with what we've got and what kind of player is available to us. There is no quick fix. I just hope that we can get behind whatever manager we end up with next season (Hopefully not Sam) .

Ok guys. let's start with a "good morning". Another day. another dollar. I am off to Turkey again in 2 weeks and visiting others so will not be able to post too much over the next 5 weeks. but thanks to all the positive support for Grumpy and me. To us it did feel like the world was against us and I felt I had to offer him my support after I saw his apology (which I really thought was an unecessary one) . but hey yeah let's all move on and have banter without insults! Happy daze!

I understood exactly what GB was saying and am grateful for his support. let's all stop the little digs here and there eh fellow Blues? Both me and Grumpytoffee were on the recieving end of a few "digs". Whilst we can be accused of being over sensitive, we are both trying hard not to respond again and escalate the debate into an argument again. I think that's what we are trying to say. It doesn't help when people then start wind ups again. especially if when we repond. they cannot take it themselves. Banter yes. insults no.

I don't feel as down as a lot of people on here. I think we had an exceptionally bad transfer with Sig. took too long. By the time we got what should be our best player he was not match fit.

New keeper (also very young) with a really unsettled back 4 - Coleman mori and Baines would have bee regulars and think we would have picked up more points with Koeman if he had these.

Europe was a disaster for us. Could have done without that. Leicester or Burnley will suffer next season for this

God knows what happened to striker. Surely the board should have got someone in of quality before letting lakaku go. Huge error but hopefully learnt.

Also lost influential player in Barry who was model pro for us. Think Davies would have kicked in better if he was around as coach.

The players are there now who can excite: Coleman, sig, bolassi, Tolson, Walcott, Dowell - I just think we need a bit of luck next season with injuries and hopefully kick on.

Cracking post Sobs. Add in Barkley's goals and assists missing and there you have a summary of what went wrong.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Mar 2018 19:37:09
I don't think Koeman and Walsh got it too wrong, I think they expected Rooney or Sandro would come in and one of them get 10-15 goals. The rest of Lukakus goals were to be spread about the squad through more productivity. Unfortunately it didn't work although Rooney could still finish the season on close to 15 and more if he hadn't missed so many penalties.
It didn't work out as they planned but then again Sandro could have come in and started banging them in and we would all be looking at Koemans reign a little differently.
It's fine margins like that which can make or break a career/ season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right smit..

28 Mar 2018 21:25:10
You are right Smit666 but also add in the fact that they did not foresee both fullbacks getting long term injuries and really not having sufficient cover. Martina and Kenny did their best but really in the Premiership. you need top players in all positions. Keane was also a let down for what we paid. I see his replacement is playing for England now! Ithink we should have spent a bit more on a utility player who could play anywhere across the back line.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Mar 2018 21:47:58
In regards to Keane, I think the defining factor is Ben Mee he has made Keane and tarkowski look better than they are. Walsh should have identified that and bought Mee.
Walsh also has to take the blame for not signing a LB. Even now we are being told one was not available in the summer and January. That has got to be a massive mistake by Walsh, unless Koeman convinced him we didn't need one and then the blame lies with Koeman.
I know it wouldn't be popular with Burnley but if Walsh stays then he should go after Mee in the summer.
