Why do we all sound like that Scottish fella out of Dad's Army, we're doomed. Keeper is ok but not the best, 3English internationals and on his day a player who can be the best r/b in the league. Top end defensive midfielders in McCarthy, besic (messiah in his pocket), Barry who couldn't put a foot wrong in his first season then over played and slagged off in his second (had Martinez not signed him he would have been hugely criticized). We have some width with mirralas(on his day great), goofy (potential) and baby. Then we have clevs who from what I have seen does a lot right, good quick feet/distribution and ok vision just not the finished article. Up front lukaku, who is not a target man and can't hold the ball up, but play a pass for him to run on to, and there are few better and 22 his best years are still ahead of him. We then have blacksmith, the ethical footballer, 100 presenter and great off the bench. Include Barkley who has heaps of potential and just needs the belief. Add 2/3 quality players and we could have a great season. Keep the faith, we may not win the league again in my life time, but I still have recent great memories even from last season, such as beating moyes at castle grey skull and jags equalizer against liverpool.

I'm with you Avro too much doom and gloom even ed 25 seems to have drunk his half full glass and replaced it with a half empty one. Cheer up boys for f**ks sake the season has not even started. We still have time to strengthen and we are giving the youngsters a chance, to be fair they are looking good, much better than some of the established players. Why do we always have to buy players to strengthen the squad? From what I can see of the young lads given a chance they are just as good as some of the players we are linked with, if not better and certainly better prospects. Even if we bought in an established player from abroad there is no guarantee that they will suit playing in the PL just look at the darkside and spuds, how many of their star signings actually turned out to be star players? If we don't play the young lads now they will just leave ala Long and who would blame them for wanting to actually play a game and not sit on the bench. We haven't actually lost any starters from last seasons squad just bit part players and have brought in two good players I agree we could do with a couple more in case of injuries but if we don't get injuries then we do have a pretty strong team and bench capable of competing with the top six. Its not the personal that's the problem it's how we play that will determine how well we will do this season. Ilm hoping we play like we did against ManU. Happy days

ED no not a board member, just realistic, we do need investment in the squad but are not that likely to get. The board have very deep pockets and extremely short arms.

Things have gone from bad to worse. Given new company car today. It is bright Red, obviously someone has a bad sense of humour. On a brighter note, season ticket has arrived.

In today's rags it's reported the distan has come out and said that one day john stones was going to sign for a big club.
This just tells me that distan is a plonker because he spent long enough with us to be able to say that etc are a big club

He came out on Twitter and said that he meant no disrespect to the club as he had to much passion for it to disrespect us. He said stones was good enough to play for a big club and not that he should. Think it's a fair comment as we know we are not a team that will be challenging for league titles, something that stones is potentially good enough to be a part of

Long has played 2 games and was offered a contract which he turned down. Don't think that is particularly the clubs fault. He wanted football

What are the chances of a refund on my season ticket? I may aswell and purchase one for U21's because according to the papers that's the only players we will have left. well Barry as well. Can Everton not just come out and say **** Off. Say it in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Portugese, The Big Man can say it in Scottish. It could be like that NO TO RACISM Video! Only we inform teams we aren't selling our best players!! If we sell the spine of the team then that's the end of Everton Football Club ever hoping to challenge for anything!

We haven't sold anyone yet you drama queen. We have had one bid from Chelsea which we rejected. How do you know what discussions have gone on since. No player in world football is not for sale at any price.

Quite clearly don't know how to read Honest Blue. I said according to the papers they are selling all the papers. Its also on the banter page as it is just a joke! But my point is also valid. Most teams who don't want to sell say No outright and we haven't and most blues will agree that is worrying. We have a solid spine in the team and everyone of them is linked out the club, stones, McCarthy, Barkley and Lukaku. So if we do (and likely money is we dont) sell them then we aren't in a good position as a club. what message does it show if we sell 1 or 2 of our better players?

Burnley have signed Chris long, shame always thought he had a chance of making it. Apparently we offered him a new contract but said no.
Oh well, at least we have our exciting prospect of Kone coming through the ranks.

Sorry to see Long go, certainly a better player than Kone, (by a country mile )but did knowone put their brains into gear, Burnly have a very promising c/back, definatly preferable to j. evens, yet no surgustion of an exchange deal, Martinez simply does not have a clue on how to operate in the market, unless a player has played for him previously.

Rooney to Everton with Mcgeady going the other way plus cash, Chelsea to offer Costa in part exchange for Barry, spurs to offer Harry Kane for Moralles, just for once wouldn't the above be nice to read in one of the papers instead of the shite they are offering as a sweatner for our better players. P.s just heard from a good source hamstring spotted at finch farm.

Every one needs to realise every player has a price and that goes for every team in the league. The reason we can't say stones or anybody else is not for sale is because if a silly offer comes in we would have to seriously consider it then every one calls the board and the manager liars. The rags don't do us any favours but we need to be realistic football is a business nowadays as sad as that is
