Few thoughts on Saturdays game (waited a bit because anything posted at the time gets lost in a crowd of posts) .

First thing is condolences to the guy who passed away's family. Really puts things in perspective.

Second is that what a result. May not have been the greatest performance but those are the exact sort of games we lost under Martinez. it was hardly a tactical master stroke to bring Mori on late on, but it was the exact sort of solid tactical decision we've been missing and from that perspective, that's the third consecutive match that an intelligent sub has ensured the result. early days, but Koeman is doing everything right so far.

Bolasie was superb. Offers everything Deulofeu does but with strength, determination and less predictability.

To quickly bring it back to my usual negativity, though, I have to say that the Stoke fans where an absolute disgrace. Obviously not them all, a lot gave generously to Speedo Mick at half time and a lot respectfully watched the game, but a lot should be ashamed of themselves. Sat very close to them in the park end and a guy and an 8 year old child where both hit with coins and I was very nearly hit with a full bottle. First half was all 'banter' but after we scored they turned poisonous and their was at least 5 people I saw who should never be allowed in a stadium again. Hope CCTV reveals the guilty parties and Stoke are fined for their poor behaviour.

I'd also say that I've finally decided that I really hope we don't sign a new right back. Holgate's future is an CB for me but if this gives he more game time then I'm 100% behind it. Got a lot to learn but has been superb so far.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with any of that anders, good post mate..

28 Aug 2016 23:40:57
Good post. Agree with everything you said. could see what was happening with the stoke fans and this is starting to creep back onto the games. Have been to away games were a small minority of our fans have let us down with similar actions, its leaves it up to the majority to point our these clowns that tarnish the names of all clubs.

Just trying to get the general vibe of fellow blues. Would you be angry if we didn't sign anyone else and trust that the right players simply were not available, or do you think it's 100% necessary to add to the squad, even if it's just for a player who may be shipped on next season because he was a last case resort?
Personally I think we need a striker as a matter of necessity but Koeman seems to be warning to Kone.
After that I think a right back would be nice but not life threatening if we don't get one, and a attack minded centre mid for me would purely be a bonus as I don't think we are as desperate for that as some think.
Secondly what do you think we can achieve with the squad we have if we don't sign anyone else?
Personally I think top 8 with a cup run. With some more fire power then top 6 is achievable in my opinion.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - not so much angry as disappointed svenny, i do see us signing at least a forward mate, im looking at top 6 for us and i dont think thats being over ambitious..

28 Aug 2016 22:45:20
If I were Ross Barkley right now I'd be seething. i'd tell that Allardice where to stick it and refuse to play for England again whilst fat Sam is manager. I'm sorry, but England during the Euros were so crap going forwards and possessed as much creativity as my 5 yr old son b4 he could read and write. England's midfield needs that creativity, a player like Ross that can spread the play and create goal scoring opportunities with that special pass that other players in that squad cannot appear to do. I'm gutted for Ross, think he's started well this season and I'm sure RK and the squad will rally round him right now. judging by people reactions on Twitter and social media 2nite most other England fans think the same. I just hope Ross now goes on up to another level during the rest of the season and shows his true potential and scores some stunning goals and when Sam A. comes calling and grovelling, he tells him where to go!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - fat sam would not know a good player if one bit him on the arse soli, hes a fraud and a charletan mate and we have no chance of progressing under him..

If I saw Henderson picked and me dropped I would say the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2016 01:03:33
I guess it's all about opinions, but anyone picking a group to represent england, that excludes Barkley, but picks Hendison, should go and have a nice lie down in a darkened room until he's feeling better, then ask the man in the white coats, to loosen the strapes on his jacket.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2016 23:45:46
Ross has a problem is he likes the ball to have grass on it, not snow and clouds. as brian clough said if football was ment to be played in the air, god would have put grass up there.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2016 20:31:54
I know that the lad has divided opinion between our own fans but I'm quite shocked that he hasn't been included in the national squad. Barkley has played pretty well so far, especially in comparison to some that have been included. What with not even getting any game time at the euro's, he hasn't had the best of times for England.

Their loss is our gain if we look at the positives, at least he will get more time to train with Koeman and he will hopefully be well rested in time for our next league game. Strange decision to be excluded but I hope it spurs him on to up his game even further.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2016 22:37:39
Completely agree. How on earth has he included Walcott and not him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats allardyce for you ander, a complete prick who has never won anything mate..

28 Aug 2016 23:18:21
I think this is good news. I feel we over rate our players ( as Blues and England fans) Ross is a good player but over hyped cod he's English. He hasn't realised his potential in the last 2 years whilst others eg Delli Alli have! All blues who go to games know Ross doesn't look 90 min fit. I Trust RK to use this to motivate Ross to get totally four AND develop to his amazing potential!
IN RK WE TRUST! COYB!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i so want ross to do well HH being a wavertree guy myself, but he is not the finished article yet and i believe his time will come mate..

28 Aug 2016 23:31:08
Sky gave him MOTM yesterday, Charlie Nicholas was covering our game and gave it to him. Rather him stay and train with us for the next 2 weeks anyways get more used to Koemans ways than go and play ugly football for England. Our gain I say.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no argument from me gray..

29 Aug 2016 01:08:37
HH, he has certainly not progressed but I feel much of that was to do with the tactics of RM. He has started the season brightly, more so than the likes of Ali, so should have at least been in contention for a place in the squad. Especially so after the shambles of the summer when he wasn't even given a chance. Players who stunk arenas out in France have been included so it just seems a bit odd. Sure I read somewhere that fat Sam had said he would pick the team on merit, those playing and in form for their club would be selected. Well it's his first team selection and he has already gone against his word.
As I said in the OP it could serve EFC well so I'm not too bothered, just hope Ross can keep his chin up and use it as motivation to get to that level. In RK we have a manager that will give him the help needed to utilise his talents. I just feel sorry for the lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2016 01:14:09
Deli Ali progressed? Really?

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2016 08:20:35
Didn't see the hype around Alli at the Euros or so far this season? So can't agree with HH on that one. It's the same old same old whoever is England manager. Basically Barkley has been omitted and Rooney included as a midfielder? Really? Sam finding ways to pick the London favourites already e.g Harry Kane, no goals at the Euros and none in 3 games this season, definitely picking him based on his form then.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2016 19:46:43
A few weeks ago I said on here I thought we should snap Henry up as a attacking coach as he had just left arsenal. My main reason for this was to get him and big Dunc training lukaku one help with finishing and the other with not been bullied off the ball and get people about scared of him. Ok so I sort of got my wish Henry is now assistant manager of Belgium so could help him only problem is the Belgium manager.

First things first, condolences to the family and friends of the gentleman who passed away yesterday. RIP to our blue brother.
I've read a few posts here, today and over the last week or so, that are still quite negative. Really? We are having a good start to the season, 7 out of 9 points, yet we are still finding faults? Fans moaning that we have only spent what we have got from selling Stones so where's the promised investment? RK has come out and said he would be disappointed if we don't do any more deals this window so don't panic, there will be work being done on trying to improve the squad. There is cash to spend but I'm happy we are not spending for spending sake, any player has to be an improvement on what we already have.
There are people moaning that we have missed out on Perez without having even watched him play! Ed002 gave us all the low down on this player, read his opinion and you will see we may have dodged a bullet on this one.
Someone having a go at BK as, according to the press (who have been spot on all through this window with our targets *cough*) we only upped our initial bid for Gabbiadini by a small sum. Crazy talk. We have no idea as to how these negotiations work at all. Again, ed002 can testify to that.
Some fans come across as ungrateful to the extreme. For years we have been showing up to a gun fight with a swiss army knife, we haven't been able to compete with those who generate more cash. We now have an investor who wants to change the club for the better yet we still get those who want to vent. Those dissing BK should be ashamed, he has delivered what you wanted but it will take time for it all to come together. Have patience, we can already see that things are on the up for us, chill!
The one that really riles me is this 'marquee' signing. One comment earlier thinks we should be going in for Isco as Spurs have been linked with him. There is nothing wrong being linked with this kind of player, makes a refreshing change if nothing else. But why would he leave Real to come to us when we have no European football to offer? Spurs have champions league waiting for him, like it or not that is a game changer. If things go to plan then in a couple of seasons these kind of signings MIGHT be a possibility but, in the mean time, let's be happy with improving the squad window by window. I'm not bothered whether a player costs 10 quid or 50 million, as long as they improve on what we have then we are going in the right direction.
RK says it could take him 2 years to get the team to what he wants, let's trust him. What nobody can disagree with is the fact that we seem to be a million miles away from where we were last season. Even the grumpiest of you lot on here would have to agree!

Picking up on Mike's point. I can't think of a player signed so far that has been better than Stek and Gana. Combined total? 7.1 mil!

Also I can't remember when we signed four players that are straight for the 1st team. I don't mean a squad player or 1 for the future but 4 players that are for the 1st 11. Things have changed massively but some just don't realise it yet.

He knows where the net is, I'll agree with that. But there are two many obstacles with even going for him. His injury record is woeful, not just since he pitched up over the park but throughout his career thus far. It's bad enough paying Gibson £30+k a week, DS would cost a lot more.
I find him to be selfish, both on and off the pitch. The last world cup showed he isn't much of a team player for me. Chasing a game, could have been against Italy, he had better options in front of him but he chose, on a couple of occasions, to shoot wildly from 30 yards. Couple that with how he reacted to another striker going on before him yesterday, for me his attitude is in question. And he wouldn't join us from them lot anyway.
Better looking elsewhere imo.

Other clubs see English PL clubs awash with money and will expect top dollar for their better players.
Likewise, I imagine agents will, want big wages for their players.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2016 12:50:46
Just reading that we've gone back in for gabidini. the price quoted is 25m +5m in add ons. Weve tried to get him for 22.5m and then we've put a second bid in for 23m. which us no where near the asking price.
If kenwright is negotiating the deal, or an body for that far then what the he'll are they doing. no where near what's been asked and the deal was never going to happen.
Same thing happened with lucas, took too long to get the deal done. if kenWright or whoever can't do the deals then it's time to get someone on who can.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

28 Aug 2016 13:19:26
What are you going on about?

We have no idea what's going on in the background and it's not as simple as putting in a bid and then negotiating up to their asking price. That's not how you negotiate.

As for Perez. He would of known Arsenal were interested and was probably the reason the deal was taking time. We are not in pole position when it comes to these players and we will miss out more than getting the player. Just be patient. We've done good business already and no doubt will get a couple more in.

You can immediately see that Mirallas has had his head sorted by Koeman. He looks like the player of old. Same goes for Baines too and to some extent Barkley looks a far more confident player. I know I mentioned it previously but Sissoko is one hell of a player when his mind is right. Imagine Koeman sorting his head and the line across the middle would be Mirallas, Gueye, Sissoko and Bolasie. It would be the rebirth of "dogs of war". No other team would have a moments peace on the ball in the middle or wings. We would have to coin a new phrase. how about "nuclear fission". of course we have not signed him yet, but I would have thought he is exactly the sort of player Koeman would like and could sort out.

As a footballer Sissoko is a beast and with some skill and when he wants. dictates games. This is where my humble pie comes in and I am starting to agree that Mr Koeman is an old fashioned "boss" who gets the best out of players. I know that Mr Benitez is a fan of James McCarthy. and Sissoko wants out of Newcastle just like McCarthy wants out of Everton. Apparently Juventus are anterested and that might stop it happening, but things look like they may fall into place. 3 weeks ago, with no wins, I would have said different. But we are now becoming an attraction.

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool is the busiest. Nottingham Forest and Leeds are surprisingly busy, as is Rangers. Man Utd is one of the busier sites too. Liverpool is a long way ahead of the rest, sometimes it will be as busy as all the rest put together.}

We are crying out for another forward maybe even 2, also a left mid, we have 5 right mids 3 of them can ' do a job'on the left but none very well which means we don't get the best out of bains as you can see he worry's about getting forward and leaving space behind. I would of liked another centre half who is comanding in the air cause nearly every goal we concede is from a cross into the box hopefully we will get a few in before the deadline but even if we don't you can see massive improvement already
