We have released/sold 8 and brought in 3 to the first team squad. Just 22 squad players now so I would expect at least two new ones in by Friday. I think we need a striker and another defender. Then would expect donavon , Cahill or both back in Jan to boost midfield.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What is the minimum squad limit, 23 or 25? We have to boost squad number just to comply with PFA regulations if we only have 22 players..

At least I think that's right.

toffee jack {Ed001's Note - I don't know of any minimum limit, I will have to have another read through the FA handbook and see if I can find that rule, if it exists.}

Niang is signing for Milan. Big loss but what is meant to be will be. Source ssn.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

How is a 17 year old kid not singing for us a big loss?

Agree0 Disagree0

He was a cert to win the X Factor with his rendition of "if you know you're history" the lost revenue from record sales wil be massive ; )

Big C

I mentioned last week that I don't like us taking players on trial. If there good enough we should not need to bring them to trial. Did he have a trial at Milan ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just had a call of a mate usually spot on reckons defour apparently Porto gave 7 million 4 him last summer not pullin any trees up there n Everton r closing in

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt say he wasnt singing for us said he wasnt signing for us...

Agree0 Disagree0

To anon, he had a trial at ourselves AC Milan and Arsenal. Arsenal didn't take him up, us and AC did, no big shock he went there instead, where would you choose?

We'll just pick him up when they release him next season....

Made me chuckle

Except he didn't actually say that did he?

Blue Peter

Agree0 Disagree0

What's wrong with him believing that? Many on here think we are going to win the league. It's called optimism.

To be fair they are only 2 -3 players short of a league winning side ... well yet again ..same as last year , and the year before , and the year before that etc etc PMSL ;-))

I'm not really disappointed about Niang let's face it the kids 17 and we all now how Moyes likes to nurture the young blokes, I could see him being more so one for the future I didn't really expect him to be getting much game time. The money will definately be better spend on a player who could have an immediate impact. What's everyone's opinion?

Could get shot down for this, but. I want Wayne back. I don't care about anything in the past, he belongs here. What more does he want to do at Utd? He won the league, champs league, established himself as a great player. He doesn't love Utd. He's always falling out with Fergie, he's handed in a transfer request before. Things are looking bad for him now there. When we beat them last Monday, he looked lost. I thought he looked like he missed this place. He still loves our club and hes a blue at heart. He left for better things but as fans I think we should just accept that and do everything we can to make his next move a move back home to Everton. Even if he just plays out his contract at Utd, he belongs here. I hate fact we boo him. We got £30m for him. That money was huge for us at the time. We owe him a lot. He has disrespected us before but he is Wayne, we've all seen what he can be like when something rubs him up wrong way. Forgive, forget, lets all make lurve together.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

One word mate money cant afford his wages .Stef the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think he would take a wage cut of £150,000 a week, besides I think he,s finished as world class player! you seen him "not" perform in the euros!. His exhuberant life stye has finally took its toll on him!.. you ...can not eat burgers!
drink lager! and puff on the odd fag! then try and play at the highest level...he could of had it all..but i feel no pity!......

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you female by any chance, its just that make"lurve" thing made me ill.

Agree0 Disagree0

90% of us would take him back anytime he's one of the best players in the world but no chance he'll drop his wages that much an no chance at all we could afford him.

Dave Tuebrook

Agree0 Disagree0

Its funny the way you say I want wayne back then go on an leave no name.Rooney will never be as good as he has been in the past he just gonna get slower an slower an he doesnt look like he could make it to someone like pirlo an i see him play more crap games then good the way we playing at the mo i wouldnt no who i would drop to let him in the side anyone else?? oh well he would make a great sub.

Blue Duck

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Duckie, would you drop Jelavic for Rooney, no way Pedro, not me mate

Would make a decent sub though lol

Degsycool

Agree0 Disagree0

Id have him back if we buy him for 10m and we get our 7m sell on fee, oh and he would have to drop his wage by say 160k a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure mate. He does still find the net but even Anichebe would get 10+ at United! For me Rooney has been going down hill for the last 12 months or so.
He loves going out on the lash, he smokes, and he is constantly out and about with his missus doesn't seem 100% committed anymore.
He hasn't looked sharp or fit for a full 90 minutes for a long time, he would probably have a heart attack playing and training with Moyes demands!
Not for me, agree with Degsy aswell if someone said to me " Rooney, Jelavic who starts?" I would have to say Jelavic!

Everton are about to submit a formal offer for chrisian Benteke the GENT striker, it is in access of the villa offer, which has been rejected.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Villa offered 6m, and it was knocked back, So he going to cost 6.5m-7m is he worth that much? but he is belgium! so who knows!..

Johnny Russel-Dundee United

Yann M'Vila-Rennes
Liam Moore-Leicester
Charlie Adam-Liverpool

Is there real interest in these players and what are the odds that we will sign any of them?

been listening to talksport over the last few days, and they have been very high on everton, saying we have a great squad, some even tipping us for top 4 and a cup. dont know if i like us getting all the attention or not, anyway come on you blues keep up the good work

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I kow what you mean mate, I listen to it in work and they have been nice to us Blues, there was a Spuds fan on today stating "Everton need money awite so I fink we need to offer them ayteen miwwion (18) quid for Felliaini and we can ave im"

The commentator replied that they may need to double that offer.

Makes me laugh teams thinking they can just offer some money and we will sell, Take note from the Mancs and where Bainesee is still playing. Leave us alone and find your own talent you nobs

Degsycool

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep - the media are catching up on what we could see since naismith signed - moyes only had a couple of gaps to fill a cracking looking team and then he's done that with Marallas etc - I stuck decent bets on top six and top 4 as soon as naismith was rumoured on here - now the media hurd are starting to notice us - they never took any notice before :)

Agree0 Disagree0

The average sports journo has the brains of a gnat- they just run with the herd- if it doesn't involve the usal suspects ( Utd, Siddy, Chelski) they are out of their comfort zone- take the first game it was going to be the RVP show and Everton were to be just cannon fodder they haven't a clue ,and long may it continue

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't worry about us getting Adam. The 5m is debatable but we wouldn't pay him anywhere near the 60k he's on at Liverpool so it's a non starter... I think Villa will panic buy after their poor start..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2012 12:49:08
Now reporting Niang has agreed a deal to sign with ac Milan we truly have missed out on him I'm afraid I tried to keep optimism we could get him but that's all gone now Shame really hes made a foolish choice in my book yes Milan are a good side but the Italian league is bull and he won't get enough game time or a chance to improve his growth
Little Tim

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I disagree, he would't have gotten much game time here either. We have Jelavic, Naismith, Mirallas, Vellios and Anichebe who can all play as a striker, plus we are supposedly looking to sign more strikers with Gouffran, Russel and Doyle being linked with the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont ever think we have missed out Tim, it's his loss not ours, there are thousands of players like him out there but only one Everton mate.

Degsycool

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the way people say with great confidence and certainty... 'Oh he wouldnt get much game time here'.

How the heck do u know, when you've never even seen him play?

aflm78

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted second aflm78. He most likely wouldn't get much game time here. Jelavic is a definate starter and we have alot of others who can play as a striker. We are also supposedly looking at a lot of strikers, or players who can play there, and you have to remember, he's only 17 years old. Its the same with Barkley, he's very talented, but that doesn't mean he'll get plenty of game time. If he signed with us, he'd be playing alot with the u18's and reserves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for answering back and for being so reasonable too! Most people on here go nuts when questioned in any way! And I have to say I dont necessarily disagree with any of what you said in your 2nd post.

But I do wonder if DM would be willing to spend perhaps a third of his remaining budget on someone who would not feature in the first team this year. I'm just not sure we can afford that luxury at Everton... Still doesnt look like happening now so lets just hope we can do some good business before Friday..

Does anyone really think we have a chance of winning the league?

Nostrawigus

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Agree0 Disagree0

No, best we could hope for is fourth and we would need loads of luck and no injuries, we should be looking at 5/6 as our goal, sorry guys but only being realistic.

Degsycool

Agree0 Disagree0

The good thing is that DM starts every competition with the view of winning it. The league is no exception.

The bad thing is whilst we have proven in the past that we can beet any English club on our day, we have never been able to show it over an entire season.

Ok we have started well and look very good but we need to achieve individual targets starting with the cup match tomorrow

I personally will be happy with anything 5th upwards and above Brenda's team into the bargain.
