Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Just found this on the Everton fan wall on the official app and thought it was brilliant so I'll share it:

Another Merseyside Derby Dawns

The hopes and fears of a city are about to be realised

Some will rise others will fall
Yet whoever shall take the prize

Let it be known we have already
Won the greatest prize of all

WE WERE BORN EVERTONIANS

I like That one, Bitter!

I know people will disagree but when we bought Gueye he was playing as a striker. And I feel he would be quite decent played up front tbh and we should definitely play him up front before we make a decision on him in the summer. And apparently he played cm for the under 21's last season and done a really good job.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I take your point, although I haven't seen Gueye's performances outside the first team.
I'll leave it to RM's judgement as far as which players leave the club and which players join the club. So far, his incoming transfers have been pretty successful and his outgoing transfers have brought in good money.

Derby day 2mrw. The pressure is on the gobrubbishs as they are the home side. Let's attack their dodgy defence and pin them back for the first 15mins, and keep the rat in their own half. Then the game is in the bag.

Simples 0-2 win. I hope.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I just hope our players don't let the atmosphere get to them in a bad way and fly into unnecessary tackles risking cards and/or injuries. No need for our forward players making rash challenges in the opposition half just to try and win back the ball - closing down, pressing the player on the ball, jockeying for position - all within our disciplined formation is what we surely need.

heard roberto saying this morning there is a chance for bryan to be available for the world cup? think that's great news if true and happy for the lad, hopefully he bounces back just like ross did coming back bigger and better tan ever

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's so typical of RM's positive approach that, while being realistic about the obvious severity of the injury, he sees the possibility of being fit for the World Cup as a great motivation for Oviedo to also be positive about working towards recovery. As with the injuries to our other players, not a word of moaning about how many our squad has suffered - unlike the whinging and excuses by other managers. Plus, he always mentions how important the injured players will be when they return and yet also praises those players performing in their places. No wonder good team spirit and togetherness is so clearly evident.

Been in a bit of a discussion with a mate where we compiled 2 teams of 11 players, 4-4-2 formation and one team would be the most overrated players and the other would be the most underrated 11, just for a bit of fun, take our minds off the derby for a bit, please give your 2 teams, just a bit of fun:

My overrated 11

Lloris- think he's a decent goalkeeper, fabien barthez said he is the best in the world, wouldn't go that far

Walker- can't defend, does the same thing going forward, kick the ball forward and chase it, woeful crosses and just not that good really

Ferdinand- not the best centre back in his family! Mostly just fouls players, dead slow and is quite bad actually at defending in itself, at fault for so many goals where others get the blame, decent footballer but in terms of defending he isn't good

Clichy- no one really raves on about him but people say he is a good left back, I don't rate him, can't go forward and you know you can't defend when fernando torres and callum mcmanaman make you look silly

Townsend- same as walker really, just cuts in and shoots over the bar, nothing special, quite a below average winger tbh, has no form of skill and people saying he should be our first choice winger in brazil is hilarious, he is not that good

Gerrard- you all knew this one was coming, great player do not get me wrong, world class, still? Hell no, decent long passes, legs have gone, lost the power in his shot, no pace and despite what jamie carragher thinks, he will never control the flow of the game like paul scholes could

Ozil- now let me just say this, I am a huge fan of ozil, loved him at werder bremen and loved him at real madrid, but if you look at his attributes he doesn't have that much going, not that quick, no right foot, knackered after an hour and is lazy, does some amazing passes here and there in the box, worth 42m just for that? No

Nasri- good player but too inconsistent, that's all there is too say, one of the best in the league? No way

Walcott- he can play upfront!, really talentless, has he improved from the age of 16? No way, still over reliant on his pace, take away that you have a player who's final ball is poor and cannot beat a man, 'but oh his finishings improved', has it hell, he falls over and kicks it and it hits the keeper and bounces in

Hernandez- again I just don't get what it is he actually does, always offside, first touch is poor, most of his goals are deflections and when he starts well, is useless too kind of a word?

Underrated team

Foster- really big fan of his, just a really solid goalkeeper, good goalie, that's all I can say really

Azpilicueta- would love to put coleman but it might be biased, big fan of this lad, has it all and can play left back! Good player and wouldn't be suprised if he went on to brazil to represent spain, he would be better than arbeloa!

Jagielka- biased maybe? He just doesn't get the credit he deserves, as a footballer? Woeful, in terms of out and out defending? World class, solid defender and someone I'm proud to have at our club

Vertonghen- really big fan of his aswell, great footballer and a good defender, really enjoy watching him

Ben davies- very talented lad, good all round modern full back, wouldn't mind him at everton, not looked at as one of the best talents at left back because of luke shaw, this kid is just as talented

Oscar- obviously people rate him but when people thought about chelsea before mata left and they would go 'oh yeah mata and hazard are great players' and I'd say 'and oscar' and they'd go 'oh him aswell yeah' he always seemed last mentioned, he is just ass talented as them and has the work rate to go with it, love oscar

Ki sung yeung- really like him, bosses the game for sunderland and controls the tempo with very tidy and accurate passing, very good player

Mccarthy- 'you're so biased!', I don't care, he NEVER gets mentioned, its always barkley, coleman and lukaku getting the pundits with the odd mention of barry, mccarthy is a great player and would get in EVERY team in the prem,

Dejagah- don't think he gets the plaudits he deserves, there is just someothing about him I admire, he isn't a very good player, average typical winger, but I just like the way he goes about his business on the pitch

Hooper- his movement Is good, fast and a just a classic striker

Jovetic- barely played and people are going 'sell him!', make no mistake man city fans, you have a special player on your hands

Please post on the banter page ed as people cannot reply on the teams page, cheers, just a bit of fun, thoughts?

other centre back would of been

agger-cant defend, a few mates said he in the top ten centre backs in the world, nowhere near that good

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a bad post, I don't agree with all but Ki from Sunderland is one I most certainly do. Absolutely fantastic player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would mostly agree but nasri this season has been amazing for city and townsend has been one of spurs's best players.

My overrated team would be:
Szczesny
Walker Vidic Terry Cole
Lennon Kagawa Lampard Sterling
Hernandez Welbeck

My Underrated team would be:
Courtois(I know he doesn't play in the pl but he should start for Chelsea and not go out on loan)
Richards Jagielka Vertonghen Oviedo
Lallana Fernandinho Mccarthy Navas
Negredo Wiemann

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely sot on mate!
could not agree more,
I would say that GERRARD & FERDINAND are the two most over rated players in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - to be fair paul, gerrard has been a great player mate, much as it pains me to say so, the guy would walk into any premiership team of all time, maybe not now as he is knocking on a bit, but the guy has carried liverpool for the past 10 years...but thats just my view..

27 Jan 2014 18:45:16
think scholes and lampard have always been better ed, plus more technical players like pires and zola, zola, wow he was better than gerrard, gerrard has been great ed but there are a few who would get in an all time team ahead of him mate

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions mate, i honestly think if gerrard was not at liverpool, that they would not have been in the top 10 of the prem..

Hi all. I haven't posted for a while but I like this post. It gets you thinking. I don't agree with a few of the overrated players infact I think Ozil, Nasri and Gerrard are all top class but that's only my own opinion. Can't be bothered to type out a team but De Gea would most certainly be my GK. I don't rate him at all. Also how about most underrated and overatted Managers? I don't think Sven has done much wrong club and country ( bar attempting to manage Leicester City! ). COYB's for tomorrow! I reckon 1-7, hibbo to score a hatrick :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Whether a player is rated as good or bad by fans is almost always down to their subjective opinions, whereas my two criteria will always be these objective statistics:
(1) How many first-team games, in particular at the topmost level, has a footballer played in; and
(2) How many trophies has he won.

The same applies to managers, so, for example, although I never thought much of "Big Ron" Atkinson (way too flash in my opinion), he did manage plenty of top-level games with his clubs and did win a trophy here and there.

Agree0 Disagree0

So, using your criteria Baron, Phil and Gary Neville would be on a par or slightly better than Stevie GBH? A Cole better than Baines? If that's your opinion, fair enough but I'm not sure it's logical.

Juan Mata has revealed his real reason for joining Man Utd. It was to keep John Terry away from his wife. On joining Manchester United he has become even more concerned that Giggs has started calling him 'brother'.

Anyone else feel this, Alcaraz out with 'fatigue' seems a bit of an odd one?
Something a bit fishy going on there me thinks and it ain't haddock!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, He hasn't played in months then played 4 games in a row. With training. He has been overtrained. Muscle fatigue is a real sport injury. Unfortunately, the Everton staff didn't pick that up.

Agree0 Disagree0

TC: how can you know that the Everton staff didn't pick this up? Unless you mean that they shouldn't have let the situation develop - i.e. Alcaraz should have been rested and not played so many matches, but injuries to other players meant he was needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2014 14:34:12
Think he meant rested from full training if he was playing matches, or at most light training

Would it be within the rules to exchange Lukaku with Torres for rest of the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why on earth would we want to?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jan 2014 14:49:28
Given our present injury situation, can we afford to allow jonny 5 to go, I know he needs games with the world cup this summer, but as things stand 1 he may get games for us 2 he is under contract till the end of the season, 3 if he regains his best form he may be offered a new contract.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jan 2014 15:04:44
1.He won't as jags, syl and antolin are back very soon
2.So what? He can still go
3.He won't regain his best form as he won't play for us and even if he did martinez won't give him a new contract as he doesn't rate him

Regarding the Canales loan situation: we cannot get him on a normal loan deal as, as stated in the Premier League rules, temporary transfers, page 194, v.7.5: "The maximum number of temporary transfers to any one club registrable in the same season shall be four." We already have 4.

However, we would be able to get him on loan provided we agree to a fee, around the £4m mark, that'd we'd have to spend to buy him at the end of the season.

Either way, I desperately hope we don't find loopholes to get any more loans, we need permanent signings!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That limit only applies to temporary transfers (loans) of players from English clubs as defined in rule v.6 on the same page. It does not apply to temporary transfers (loans) of players from "foreign" clubs. There is no mention of "foreign loans" in the rules. I understand that FIFA don't regard those deals as loans, but as proper transfers between clubs (albeit short-term with an agreement for the player to return). Perhaps the Premier League rules will be changed - just like the Football League did to prevent another Watford situation - but for now there's no such restriction on us.
The Premier League rules about having to register a squad of up to 25 players over the age of 21 with a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players - plus no restriction on the number of 21-and-under players - is what really matters as far as how many foreign players we can loan and have in our squad. So, loaning players aged 21-and-under from foreign clubs is to all intents and purposes unlimited. I guess work permits would come into it for non-EU players, but that's about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just as a follow-up, the Premier League handbook is very careful in defining a Premier League club as a "Club" with an upper case initial C and an English club outside the Premier League as a "club" with a lower case initial c. This is defined in sections A.1.30 and A.1.31. The use of upper case or lower case versions of "Club" or "club" is what is most telling in the wording of the sections about temporary transfers in section V.6.
There's no way that non-English clubs are referred to in the temporary transfer rules - the rules only refer to temporary transfers (loans) between Premier League "C"lubs and other Premier League "C"lubs OR between Premier League "C"lubs and English (lower division) "c"lubs.
It's all legalese of course - and way too boring for the normal craic on this banter forum - but those are the rules, so let's see if RM can get a few more Deulofeu foreign loans to boost our squad. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - well thanks for clearing that up baron.. :)

No problem, Ed025 - if I can help somebody along the way, etc., etc., then my effort has not been in vain. I think I need to lay down now, as my brain is swimming with all those gobbledygook Premier League rules ;-)

Team for tomorrow lads? Not sure who is available so I'll just stick to players I'm sure will be available

Howard

Hibbert stones jagielka baines
Barry mccarthy
Mcgeady naismith mirallas
Lukaku

Think hibbert will keep their winger quiet as he's done with ronaldo, duff, giggs, robben and reyes, they have no one of that quality, come on hibbo lad!

Shame alcaraz isn't available, he would keep suarez in his pocket due to him being south american, how simple is that? He is used to coming up against strikers one on one, especially agile and tricky ones like rat boy, his lack of pace could of been a problem but I doubt it, distin would of been made a mockery of again imo and heitinga, well, no

Barry and mccarthy will run the midfield against legless gerrard and joe sideways allen, coutinho will find there won't me too much room when he is in barry's back pocket

Mcgeady will exploit cissokho defensively as will mirallas on kelly, naismith MUST play, he will work for the team and has just as much chance of scoring as anyone else

If traore was available I would chuck him straight in, lukaku will be useless again, its either him or vellios so I'll pick lukaku I suppose, everyone else's team?

I think we'll defo need 2 up front, like u said Gerrard's legs are gone. he's been playing almost as an extra defender this season just sitiing so deep

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless the injuries badly restrict the list of available first-team players and mean that RM has to play two out-and-out forwards, I just can't imagine him changing from the 4-2-3-1 formation that has been our approach this season.
We'll have to be pristine (to use RM's phrase) in our defending in order to cope with the goal threat from the opposition.
Our mental attitude will have to be perfect and our discipline will have to be exemplary - we mustn't give the referee any difficult decisions to make about fouls and cards, especially under pressure from the crowd.

Ed will RM sign anyone else in the Jan window we really need some more players after oveido injury an 6 first teamers could be out of derby :(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think there will be much more if any tom, we are very light squad wise for the derby, but a lot of our injured players are not far off now, i would like 1 more myself mate, but have total faith that bobby knows what he,s doing..

27 Jan 2014 11:36:52
Toon fan here, hoping you will smash liverpool tomorrow night, looking forward to it!

I think Martinez can get everton into the champions league in a few seasons, he's a top quality young manager. You're only a few signings a way from having a great squad with good depth. I think newcastle really missed the boat on martinez in the summer, but hey-ho.

3-1 everton in the derby tomorrow night.

Degsy, you got with a geordie lass yet? ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Get IN - Baines signs new 4 Year deal! Yahoooo!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jan 2014 11:01:04
My team for the derby. 4-4-2
howard
baines.
jags(in hope he is fit) if not, stone cb and hibbert rb
heitinga
stones
barry
McCarthy
mirallas
mcgeady
naismith
lukaku

i think a 442 formation will work due to the nature of the drrby, a quick paced end to end game. plus we most probably won't have barkley rendering ACM less effective. furthermore, naismith can drop off if needed to.

Just want to sat i'm delighted baines has signed a new deal, still got at LEAST 3 years left at his best, with bryan out this is great news, really has put a smile on my face, just shows even if we don't get champions league football, they still love it here, liverpool don't get in the champions league, the rat will go, people may call baines unambitous, i'd caall it him loving the club so much he doesn't care, as long as he puts on that blue shirt, nothing else matters

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hate it when people devalue loyalty with comments like "lacking ambitio"

He now has the opportunity to help us achieve something really exciting and will become a true Everton legend.

Nice one Baines, now go and celebrate with a free kick double on tTuesday, West Ham stylie
