Apologies if someone else has posted this, but apparently Everton have scored 43 own goals over the years in the Premier League, which is more than any other club.
I can remember quite a few others - some comical, some unlucky, and some downright diabolical - that we conceded in the days before the Premier League.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sid I can remember quite a few from the 70s epecially in the derby at anfield. 2 at the kop end in a four nil battering.

UEFA regulations state that, "The three highest placed national associations in the UEFA Respect Fair Play ranking will each automatically gain an extra qualification berth for the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Europa League providing they have exceeded the threshold of games played, and have a minimum average score of 8.0. These berths are then allocated to the highest placed club in that association's own Fair Play league that has not yet qualified for either the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Europa League." (The threshold of games played and the average score of 8.0 certainly doesn't appear to be a problem for our clubs.)
The final UEFA Respect fair play rankings will be published in May 2014, but, at the last time of checking, the top three national associations were Finland, Norway and Sweden, so England - unless they displace one of those by the end of May - won't get an extra qualification berth anyway.
Just out of interest, when last checked, the Premier League Fair Play Table had a top five of Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City - each of whom should qualify for Europe anyway. The next team in the table is Swansea City. Having qualified for this season's UEFA Europa League (having won the League Cup), there's a chance (admittedly remote) that Swansea Coty could qualify for next season as well because of fair play.
Who remembers when football was a simple game? :-)

{Ed025's Note - well its certainly not now sid..

Here's another bit of information. The winners of the 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League AND the winners of the 2014-2015 UEFA Europa league will each qualify for the 2015-2016 UEFA Champions League UNLESS they qualify for it anyway by virtue of their league position, which for England means finishing in the top four of the Premier League. If an English club wins either of these 2014-2015 European completions, BUT finishes outside the top four of the Premier League, then that club will take a fifth spot alongside the other four clubs. However - here's the wrinkle (!) - if English clubs win both 2014-2015 European competitions, BUT both clubs finish outside the top four of the Premier League, then those two clubs take the fourth and (extra) fifth spot and the club finishing fourth in the Premier League drops into the UEFA Europa League. England can only have a maximum of five clubs in the UEFA Champions League - and only get four normally: it's only winning a European competition that opens up a possibility of England getting an extra (fifth) spot.
Simples.

It's been a very weird season with results just not going as the experts expect.
If (just if) Newcastle get a result tomorrow then we have no option but to go hell bent to beat City and hand Liverpool the title. If however Arsenal win, imagine the pubs next Saturday.
Liverpool supporters supporting Everton and many of us blues supporting City!
Bizarre!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they should bring out flags and scarves for that one mushy.. :)

27 Apr 2014 21:54:16
i don't get it, we are four points off fourth with 2 games left (arsenal will beat newcastle 4 or 5 nil) so so fourth is gone, I hate liverpool, would you rather we finished 5th and liverpool win the league or we finish 5th but liverpool don't win the league?

Agree0 Disagree0

You wish failure upon your own club I order to see Liverpool fail, there's a reason you're called the bitters.

P.s. you can still drop down to 6th which will be a substantial loss of money, seeming how desperate you guys are.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2014 07:52:59
youse did it four years ago so research the word bitter again before spouting rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

Swan, difference being we had nothing to play for, you can still get 4th even if Arsenal win tonight, you could get top 4 on goal difference if they lose/draw both of their last 2 games which is possible, they're playing WBA and Norwich who both need the points.

Banter please Ed
I saw an article in which Roberto has said he wants 4 strikers in the first team. Now when I read the title I got excited, because I thought we were going to go mental in the transfer market, but after reading the whole thing, I just felt a little disappointed. He's basically said he wants 2 strikers in, as he already has Kone and Naismith. I thought this weird, as even though naisy is on good form, I wouldn't class him as a striker, but more a utility forward, and this can be seen when he plays in the hole, on the wing and upfront. On top of this Martinez wants Traore back on loan, which is a slight disappointment, as he's just been injured, and we've only had him in one game (but he did score so maybe its a good move).

But my point is, effectivly we are only looking to buy one striker. I can't see that being lukaku, as he wants CL, and we're no likely to get that (fingers crossed tho). So who else is there in the market?

We've been linked to loads of strikers such as:

Bacca - Probs the most decent on the list
Sergio Garcia - would rather have Big Vic back
Lukaku - can't see this happening, as he's too expensive, and wants CL
Welbeck - Most likely imo, but that would be so unfortunate for us!
Josep Drmic - he's got arsenal and liverpool after him aswell, he's bound to choose them. But i'd have him
Majeed Waris - Not sure who he is, but I just know he's been linked
Batshuayi - Rumours about him seemed to have died down. Apparently he's good.
Bony - We'd all have him if we had the chance
Alexandre Lacazette -I've been a fan of his this season, get him to Goodison!

So those are the main linked strikers. Who would you guys have.

My perfect transfer window (taking into account budget and position) would be:

IN
Ryan Gauld -2 Mill
Gareth Barry -Free
Jack Colback -Free
Tom Ince -Free
Bruno Martins Indi -7 Mill
Deulofeu - Loan
Traore - Loan (Only because RM wants him)

And 3 of the strikers above

Alexandre Lacazette -12 Mill
Michy Batshuayi -7 Mill
Carlos Bacca -5 Mill

Thats about 30 Million spent on transfers, which is probs about what we have ( I hope)

Really wanna hear your thoughts blues.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its a good shout that.not sure on ince( bone idol and only thinks of himself) and gauld will be a lot more than 2 mill m8 . about 6 the last I heard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post but I think the fees you have stated are a bit unrealistic!bacca 5 million?when everton enquiries about him they said they want 30 million euroes!guald would be more!ince is shocking, colback is very average but will be just a squad player!i would buy Jordan Rhodes!hes bound 2 be getting fed up with playing championship football!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh blimey. I always seem to do that. (Undervalue players). Seems like nobody wants ince, after seeing him at Crystal Palace. Fair enough.but I only put him in because he's free. Yeah Jordan Rhodes wpuld be a good shout, but he's been bought for 10, and Blackburn would probs want 20.

If Arsenal win tomorow and win on Saturday before we play that means 4th is gone, I think Martinez should play Garbutt and a few of the other young lads it would be a massive opportunity for them especially against a team like City yes it will be a major task but a good opportunity for them sure why not all we need is a point then against hull the week after and believe me most there team will be rested but on the other hand if Arsenal drop points then we need to beat City.Tough one

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My team for that one
Robles
Hibbett
Duffy (get him back)
Alcarez
Oviodo
Kone
Traore
Tea Lady(disguised as Mcarthy)
Tea Lady's son(disguised as Coleman)
Alcarezs' brother in law (disguised as Osman)
Miralles
Jags

This team is capable of stopping the reds winning anything!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good stuff mushy.. :)

You see the difference between us and your lot is that, most of you would want to get turned over by city, so that we don't win it. Even though most of us wanted to see you in the champions league. Just shows you the difference

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its all banter Kman. take it tongue in cheek. We want to win every game, and ofcourse we want to beat City. We care more about us winning than your lot winning (even if it means having to put up with the kopites raving on about how they are champs) . But that's a sacrifice we have to make for the good of Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't judge us all the same mate. I personally have to admit that I believe Liverpool deserve to win the league . if they do win it. You have played the best football and scored so many great goals this season. I think the problem as we Evertonian's see it is that some of your supporters have gloated so much over the years that we have grown tired of it. There is banter and there is down right smugness that really gets under your skin. I will be cheering the Blues as always. Along with loads of my mates. I will also try to be humble to reds if you do win it. But at the end. I will be hoping you don't win it. just so I don't have to endure the gloating.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 20:44:28
Get off you high horse KMan, if it was they other way round you know you wouldn't really so stop lying.

Agree0 Disagree0

It all depends on Arsenal's next two results. If they win (which realistically they should) tomorrow night, they play before us next Saturday. If they win that one as well, we know that 4th is gone so we then put out a weakened side (which we might have to do anyway because of injuries) against City. For once I would be happy to lose if it then prevented the reds from winning the League. I know, unlike some of you younger posters, what they were like in the 70s and 80s, rubbing our noses in it at every opportunity. So no, stopping them is a must!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kman don't comeout with BS saying you lot want us to finish fourth.
for the record myself and every other blue that I know does NOT want you lot to win the league.
why would we?
by the way PMSL yesterday! ha ha ha

--------
So unbelievably patronising and woefully ill informed. Would you want to see us in the CL if you were below us in the league? Erm, no, I didn't think so. For the record I hope city beat us by double figures so there's no chance of you reversing the goal difference against an abysmal Newcastle side.

Bitter, me? You bet. I despise your disgraceful club like no other. We may never have your glory but, thankfully, we'll never have your shame.

Sorry Ed and some fellow blues but let's all get behind city next week.
I have only ever worried about ourselves in the past but I could not bare to live if they win the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - I would always support my own team and never worry about the others, no matter what the outcome was}

What are you on about? we need to beat City, Spurs are only 3pts behind us and Utd could finish above us should they win they win all their games and we lose our. I for one will always be behind the blues just as Ed states.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey lad good on you for being a blue but if you lived in Liverpool you might feel differently!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 19:03:26
All this banter about winning or losing against ManCity in order to prevent Liverpool winning the title is fascinating, but a Premier League campaign is over 38 matches and Liverpool and ManCity and the rest have all dropped points along the way just as we have in our pursuit of Champions League qualification. It's not just one match that wins the title - although there'll always be one match that eventually gets a team to the required winning points total.
Besides - here's a thought - what if the situation was reversed and we were chasing the title and Liverpool "willingly" lost to our title rivals in order to thwart us? We would go completely ballistic!

Are people aware that from next season (2014-2015) the runners up in the FA Cup - when defeated by a team that has already qualified for Europe - will NOT get a place in the following season's (2015-2016) UEFA Europa League. This season is the last (until the regulations change yet again!) when a team like Hull City could lose the FA Cup final and still get into the UEFA Europa League because the FA Cup winners (in this case Arsenal) have already qualified for Europe because of their league position.
Basically, a team will have to either win the FA Cup or win the League Cup or finish high enough in the Premier League in order to qualify for the UEFA Europa League as one of England's three representatives.
(There's also a Fair Play place available that could give us a fourth representative, but that depends on national and club rankings.)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good info sid...cheers..

The fair play position is a complete joke. Last time I looked, Liverpool were top. This is the team that has Skirtl rip yer shirt-ov. the well known Russian defender and Suarez make yer bite clean then dive. Not counting Stevie let's surround the ref until we get someone booked. We are apparently let down by our fans and officials behaviour towards the opposition fans and officials. Like I said.a joke.

Million Dollar question - If Arsenal beat Barcodes tomorrow night how many of us would still really want to beat city given it will probably hand the title to the RS.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i will still want us to beat city AL, they are my priority, dont get me wrong if liverpool blow it, i will be grinning like a cheshire cat, but everton winning is far more important to me mate..

I agree ed but its lot easier for me I don't live in Liverpool, don't think I could take the gloating from all the RS if we ended up taking the points of city that won them the title.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its hard mate..they gloat like no others..

Why? I would want Everton to win as many games as possible even if it meant giving the title to Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

If were going to get Europa no mater wot I would want city to turn us over cause I can't bear it the thought of them winning the title cause that's all I will hear for the next ten years

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it will be purgatory if liverpool win the league shakey..

Wow what a bunch of bitter supporters
You'd actually want your own team to loose when your still in with a shout of CL just so pool don't win the league lol I can't believe what I just read, that attitude is exactly why your not going to get into the CL and why you never win anything.
We don't need your help city haven't got it in there locker to win all there remaining games.

I want to get beat by City 5-0 so they have a much better gd, I know sad but couldn't handle all the Koppites in work talking about it for ten years

Agree0 Disagree0

I want us to win.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope they don't win the title because if they don't the hungry arm eating donkey will likely leave next year an take his 30 goals a season with him then it will be evident that without him there just a mediocre mid table team. They make me laugh they have just been done two nill an after the game there manager came out and said Chelsea had two buses parked there today instead of just saying the better team won like our class act of a manager would there sore loosers i'm with murph man I want us to get done five nill cal me bitter or what ever you want that's just how I feel

Agree0 Disagree0

I want us to win.what other teams do including close rivals has no interest to me.i want to finish the season winning and chalking as many points on the board as possible.imagine givin in agaist city so liverpool don't win the league and the gunners slip up big style.would have shot ourselves in the foot as far as CL football

Agree0 Disagree0

How could any self respecting football fan rather their own team lost than to beat a bigger team. For the first time in years you have a good squad which is capable of beating anybody and you still want to lose through spite. I work in a Manchester United majority office and even they are not to bothered who wins the league as they said it is between LFC, MCFC or Chavski or as they put it underdogs vs two moneybags. I for one that you beat City to give the none bitter blues something to cheer about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Murph do you work in Norway?

27 Apr 2014 15:11:20
Still hoping for 4th but if we finish 5th would we be in the group stages or qualifiers of the europa cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We'd go straight into the groups griff.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought that the team finishing 5th went into the Play-Off round, which is the knockout round immediately before the Group stage.
The team finishing 6th goes into the Third Qualifying round, which is the knockout round immediately before the Play-Off round.
If Hull City win the FA Cup, they'll go straight into the Group stage.
However - if Hull City are FA Cup runners up, then they'll go into the Third Qualifying round and the team finishing 6th move up into the Play-Off round. By the same token, my understanding is that the team finishing 5th will get moved up into the Group stage.
I'm happy for others to correct my understanding :-)

What a brilliant season . I for one would like Bony here next season . He puts a shift in and gets goals and is half the price of Lukaku

Markyg

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I doubt that he would cost much less than Lukaku anyway, as Swansea paid £10m for him at the start of the season. I reckon we could get him for £20m, Lukaku £25m. However the fact remains that without Champions League football, Lukaku won't join us. So Bony is our most viable option. Hopefully Bill can tempt him with a progressive team, Europa League football and a couple of tickets to 'Blood Brothers'.

Hallam Hope scores hatrick for Bury. But should he have been on the bench for us yesterday?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well done to him for his hat trick, but it's a massive step-up from lower league football to the Premier League. He's on loan to help him develop, mature and progress as a professional footballer and see how he reacts to the challenges of playing properly competitive matches against tough experienced players.
If he carries on doing well, then I'm sure RM will give him a chance when the time is right.

Claudio Yacob is Barry successor.

Bony is final answer for striker.

{Ed025's Note - fighters like kev majshel?...hmmm..i have known mormons who fight more!..lukaku has done well for me mate, but i dont see him as the permanent answer..

Hey ed, was watching our boys give everything. I'm so proud of them, they gave everything this season. Our problem was squad rotation too many injuries Kone was such a loss, Jags, Oviedo the list goes on. The boys were knackered today. It is blatantly obvious we need reinforcements, the board will have to get their thumbs out of you know where and support Robbie, I feel with our youth talent and the right blend of experience and we hold on to our key players, I firmly believe we have a league winning side. Really looking forward to next season or maybe with the help of the barcodes maybe this season. I HEARD NO BELL YET. Let me know ed, what sort of reinforcements should we get in do you have any names you might suggest.

NISI SATIS NIHIL OPTIMUM

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we need at least 4 in for me EB, at least 1 striker, a midfielder, a winger and defender, bobby and bill will have an idea of who, but im afraid im not privvy to that information mate, but personally i would love bony to come..

27 Apr 2014 02:58:09
Random Thoughts.

1. Barkley has not bee the same since he tried to come back early from the foot injury.

2. Southampton knew our CB were the number 3 and 4 backs, so they kept thought crosses in there (hitting nothing but Toffee noggins.

3. It is still amazing what RM has done with someone else's players.

4. We can still finish 5th despite injuries and a thin squad. And virtually no breaks this season.

5. We can play with anybody, even ones man down.

6. And I would take Felli back (perhaps on a loan since no one will pay 20+ for him). I thought he was more effective when playing the offensive side of midfield. We can play him in then Europa games.

7. Awesome season, imagine having this kind of optimism a year ago when Moyes left and tried to clean then cupboard bare.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't have felliani back for free and I honestly mean that. He wouldn't fit in our style of play. He's only effective playing in the hole behind the striker and lumping it up to him. He has never been a decent defensive mid in his life. He's clumsy has a poor first touch and couldn't pass wind.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with everything except for Fellani. He was a DM player and fitted in to a DM style of play, he's certainly not a RM player.

Besides, he's too goods for us (or so he and his dad thinks)
