Reading the papers and sites is seems the lazy journalism has already started about Bainsy but even more annoyingly about Barkley. It seems Meltdown United, City and Chelsky are supposedly after him, now with financial fair play kicking in next summer, player swaps are going to be more prevalent in the game, I can see a Barkley/Lukaku swap or some aspect maybe some cash or other players thrown in being suggested in some ports and i'm surprise the journo's havn't already spouted it. Not sure my feelings thought on it, Barkley s so exciting at the moment but the Beast is what we've missed for a long time!

interested to see what peoples take would be on this!

cant see much truth in this mate, chelsea have oscar, mata (for the time being), hazard, de bruyne and schurrle they have enough attacking midfielders and I get he wants lampard replacing but I cannot see barkley doing too well in a holding midfield role, city won't be in for him as silva, nasri, toure and jovetic (toure to an extent) are hardly going to be retiring any time soon so he wouldn't play at all, utd will probably be in for him but doubt he would want to go as he dislikes moyes and told me (not claiming to be in the know but as I said I do live by him and see him often) he used to get stubbs to tell moyes he had a good game for the under 21s just so moyes would consider putting him in the squad, player swaps are going to be more common yes but I cannot see chelsea giving us lukaku on a permanent deal saying that with how low he rates mata it wouldn't suprise me

Chelsea would ruin Barkley's career and Ross hates Moyes so I can't see him going anywhere. And after his quotes the other day I think he will be at EFC for a very, very long time.

Barkley and lukaku swap. that's a toughie Ox. I don't know what I would want if that was offered mate

degs

Agreed. But never say never. The boy seems loyal enough to me but if some tossers offer him 100k a week. God only knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't swap barkley for lukaku.id see if chelsea would sell and at what price then pull out all the stops to get lukaku signed up.

i wouldn't swap them either but if we had to sell barkley I would get as much as possible for him and give chelsea most of that, all depends on how much really but either way both will be special

i think everything is falling in place for baines to go, no contract negotiations, stubbs saying he wanted to go, martinez not denying it, baines saying he doesn't know whether he is going (on youtube he gives some pissed evertonians a lift to the blackburn game), I hope i'm overthinking this but I just think he is going in january and I look forward to seeing biffy made up because he was right (kind of) and the united fans friggin laughing at us but we will move on I dunno who we will get maybe oviedo is seen as a successor if not u dunno definitely won't be luke shaw he will be off to chelsea in the next year or two but anyway we will move on if he stays then whuppy doo I will dance naked in the everton shop singing abc by the jackson five. again, but I think he will go, I really hope not but things seem to be in place

Mike-Ox Long {Ed025's Note - the only way it would work for me mike, is if we got £25m for him, and gave it all to chelsea for the beast!..

cannot see us getting that mate, he is well worth it but no one will pay it, if I was robby I would say 'look leighton you're he best left back in the world by far and the players, the club and most of all the fans love you, there is nothing we and them want more than to see you sign a new contract, you will not regret staying and the fans will continue to love you regardless but they will love you especially if you sign and keep up the everton way in that everyone who plays here loves it, the grass isn't always greener and we need you more than the mancs who don't think you're 'united quality' (but young is now isn't that feckin funny), so please stay and we will make you the highest paid player at the club here is fellaini's wages added on to your own now sign the feckin deal!'.

Baines is a model professional, he has dealt with all the speculation with the upmost dignity, however I think he is only contracted till June 2015, so theoretically he could buy out his own contract next summer! I think that its make or break time, we should throw an astronomical contract at him, make him our highest paid player and if its turned down well then we will know his true wishes. if he does go I think it'll be for either 15mil in January or 12 million next summer. Maybe its just me but he doesn't seem his joyful self at games, his performance, attitude and commitment level are still the same if not better, he's a fantastic player, but it does seem as if something is missing with him, (maybe he's jus missing peanuts on the left)

Lets see how the season plays out, if were holding our own near the top end of the table and playing well with maybe a chance of doing something then he might be happy, he will be 29/30 next year and hasn't won anything of note and maybe he would be due a crack at the prem or champs league if he can't with us

the through-legs miss by Robles was a shocker

The good news is that the team has been creating lots of chances in most matches so far.
The bad news is that we're wasting almost all of those chances PLUS we're still prone to sloppy defensive mistakes.
NUFC at home will not be easy. We'll have to do better at both ends of the pitch - just having lots of possession and/or passing laterally without making inroads is not going to win us more matches. The barcodes have some players who could hurt us if we're not on top of our game. We need to be winning home matches against sides like them if we want to be challenging near the top of the table. A draw wouldn't be disastrous - at least our unbeaten league run would continue - but RM's work in progress needs to do just that: "progress". Plus the returning first choice players need to show that they've benefited from being rested for the cup game.

Jelly has taken a lot of stick, but one forward might be part of the explaination, might be an idea to play him with Lukaku, each would create space for the other, don't know if RM can fit this with his tatical plan?

Agree0 Disagree0

No because that dosnt improve your fitness pace or techinque which he seems to lack

for me the league cup has never been anything special I always saw it as the reserves fa cup and obviously I would of preferred us to have won but its not the end of the world I just want us to focus on the prem and the fa cup and I think deulofeu and oviedo need to be used more in the league, amount of times we could do with their pace in the last 20-30 minutes (not the last 30 seconds bobby) is incredible, here is how I see the top 7 panning out

chelsea
city
arsenal
tottenham
the rubbish
us
the other red rubbish from manchester

I agree with the top 3 Ox but would swap the rubbish two around myself mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Its easy to write united off after a fairly average start, but they have had a fairly tricky fixture list so far, for my top four I would be picking chelsea, arsenal, city and united, but would say this is the year that any of those four could win it. Or we could be the new invincibles and win the title ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see Tottenham finishing 4th I think we can

its not me writing united off mate just alex ferguson was a sheer genius and tbh uniteds team isn't all that they just had a great manager, van persie and rooney are obviously top class and I like de gea, rafael and fellaini but I just think the likes of cleverley, young, valencia and welbeck are going to feature a lot when they are not really good enough so for me without ferguson they will struggle and have proved me right so far plus we all know moyes' subs are hardly positive. I think liverpool will finish above us as we still need time to click, spurs have a great team and I like their manager so I think fourth is fair but the arse will still finish above them, all in all every team in that top 7 needs to strengthin in a lot of areas but in terms of management and the players they have now, chelsea and city will the only 2 competing but its just my opinion and anything could happen

Mike-Ox Long

I would rule Everton and Tottenham challenging for the league. Anyone can beat anyone on the day look how Cardiff beat man city and we beat Chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

Ican see spurs challing to win the prem, tom efc

spurs have the europa league again this season, yes they brought in a lot of players but some will still be tired and they don't have bale to rely on for goals, soldado is good don't get me wrong but I cannot see him getting any more than 16-19 goals this season and the goals will mostly come from other players but I just don't know who, I still think they will finish fourth because of the players they've brought in but them and arsenal will not be challenging for he prem, yes arsenal bought ozil who is my favorite player outside of everton but they still didn't bring in a centre back (mertesacker and koscielny look solid but vermaelan isn't all that so they lack depth), they still never got a powerful midfielder (diaby is injured more than rodwell, if that's possible) and they didn't bring in another forward to compete or be a back up to giroud, livrpool well they were supposed to have won the league the last 20 years according to their fans but it won't happen so not worth a mention, yes mate anyone can beat anyone on their day but the difference between us, liverpool and spurs etc compared to chelsea and city is we will play he likes of palace, hull, sunderland, cardiff and stoke and draw a lot and lose a few whereas city or chelsea will likely win these games. mike-ox-long.
