Rooney Back poll.

Can't believe the majority are saying yes! We'd have to pay him a fortune and as a result would have to make him a starter. He's not a striker any more but I wouldn't want him as a number 10 either because he comes too deep. Waste of a significant amount of money for me.

I for one wanted Rooney back, but that was 5 years ago, things have changed a little and to have him back in his current form would be a poor investment sadly .

Sort of on the fence on this one as probably a lot of Evertonians. WindsorBlue's comments are true but on the other hand Rooney may be the catalyst to better times, especially if other top players see the fact that he played for us as an incentive to also join. Regardless of the team that Rooney joins United will likely have to eat some of his present contract. I can't see any other club in the UK paying him the same amount as United.

There's are arguments for and against. He would be a fantastic role model for young players to aspire to an be a great presence in the dressing room, but I wouldn't want to lose out on other signings financially because of what Utd would demand in a fee or because of his wages. Those are essentially off the pitch" reasons.

On the pitch, what would he offer? He's slow and therefore doesn't fit the pressing game RK is developing, plus he comes back to collect the ball so wouldn't provide the support RM needs in the centre of the pitch to play number 10.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want him back at all because I think there could be major benefits, I just wouldn't want it to be for sentimental reasons to the detriment of the team in the medium to long term.

I was thinking about what I would like to ask Santa for Christmas so though:
New keeper. Can't see what is wrong with Hart personally.
Centre Back. One who can defend first and foremost.
Left Back. It's clear Bainsey's days are numbered.
Two, yes Two attacking midfielders. This is a must.
Additional striker. One is not enough. Oh and no more wingers we have lots of them.
So five players in total, not too muck to ask for really.
Then always wanted a bike but only ever got an apple and an orange. 😩.

Takes me back to when I was a kid and asked my father for a bike, he told me to go and get a paper round and save up for one, which I did. When I had enough for a bike he took me to the bike shop, picked out my bike and paid for it with my money. How things have changed, but probably not for the better! Still, my Dad did take me to my first Everton game at six years of age so I have to be thankful for that.
