ROGERS HAVING A LAUGH-HE CONVENIENTLY FORGETS THAT HIS BELOVED SUAREZ SHOULD OF GOT HIS MARCHING ORDERS IN THE DERBY LAST YEAR FOR CHALLENGES ON MIRALLAS(MISSED 3/4 GAMES AFTER THIS . ) AND DISTIN!!!! AMAZING HOW HE HAS SUCH A POOR MEMORY.
EDDY

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Old news. Fact is Mirallas should 'have' walked, no two ways about it. Suarez didn't walk, though he should 'have' been dismissed twice. And KM was out for 3/4 months altogether not 3/4 games. Talk about poor memories---

baines out for 6 wks has he played his last game for us? tp.

Let's hope we get to see Oviedo for a few weeks. That way come January we will know what's ahead of us if we were to lose Baines for good.

Toffee ace

Agree0 Disagree0

There seems to be a lot of fans who have already sold Baines to Utd have I missed something have EFC confirmed we have sold him or what because as far as I am concerned he has a contract with us he plays for us and if we are still in the mix for the top 4 in January why would he want to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

I probably speak for almost all blues by saying we all want him to stay. But seriously Johnny, our track record of selling our best players, all be it at high prices, should prepare us for January. And the prospect of losing Baines.

Toffee ace

Agree0 Disagree0

Toffee ace yes I agree we have a poor track record but I think the last window showed we do not need to sell now other wise they would of sold Baines. It really annoys me that a lot of blues can still be so negative and have already sold him when that clearly is not the case. Everton will make Baines put a transfer request in to push through a move and if we are in the mix for top 4 I can not see Baines doing this I also Believe that Utd will go for Luke Shaw as the asking price is roughly the same and as he is only 20-21 years old makes more sense {Ed002's Note - Luke Shaw does not have an "asking price".}

Agree0 Disagree0

Southampton are in a stronger position financially than us and on the whole are playing well, he plays week in week out for them and has recently signed a 5 year deal, they could easy demand 25+ for luke shaw and as th eplayer is more than happy don't expect clubs coming in for him for next few years {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you really think they will demand 25 million plus then you are both deluded a 15-20 million offer and shaw will sign for Manchester United and as we showed last window we do not have to sell. We are also playing exceptionally well and looking at both teams we have more of a chance of top four than southampton.
and as for the comment about him looking happy are you saying Baines does not look happy playing for the team he has supported his whole life

Agree0 Disagree0

I said in June that Shaw is destined for either Utd or Chelsea. DM wants Baines. It is therefore more likely that Shaw will end up at Chelsea. The price will be fixed by certain factors.
1. How much Chelsea are prepared to pay.
2. How much other clubs offer for him. eg if Newcastle come in with a 30 million offer, he is not likely to sign for Chelsea for 10 million.
3. How long his contract has remaining. He signed a new 5 year deal in July.
This means that if they want, Southampton can say get lost to anyone (including Chelsea) and then it is up to Shaw to force the issue. Transfer request? Strike?
All in all, his value will be much higher due to the 5 year deal. We should have gone in for him 2 years ago.but I guess rules prohibit this and Baines was not on Utds radar at that stage? Other options WILL now be needed. The reason? Baines' contract is running out fast! He is off lads. Why have we not offered a new contract? Our best player and we don't do it? Unless we offer him a contract that is way above Utd's offer, he is off.

And one more thing ed002 everyone has a asking price

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Of course they don't.}

How do we know he's not been offered a new contract and refused it? Seems plausible. RM said he'd reward him for his loyalty as a priority but now it's seemingly not an immediate priority?
He's likely gone, but not until after the World Cup, IMO. Though maybe selling in January would yield a greater profit, it could derail our season or do we take a chance and see where we end up at the end of the season. If we're in a better position than united he would be foolish to leave. Maybe a good World Cup performance gets us a better price.
Whatever the permutations, it's a headache for RM.

{Ed025's Note - and for me granville.. :)

My main argument was that most blues seem to think he has already signed for Manchester United which is not the case and do you really think shaw is worth over 20 million yes he is a up and coming player but not proved it over 4-5 years.Luke shaw could be one of the best left backs this country has produced but he is not the finished article and ed name me one player who doesn't have a price

Agree0 Disagree0

We are known as a club who sells if a player goes into his last year of contract. Look at our recent history where we have done this. It is a business decision. nothing to do with loyalty or anything else.
RM stated at the last transfer window that we would reward Baines with a new lucrative contract as soon as he returned from England duty. He then retracted his words and said we will not be discussing a new contract with Baines until the end of the season? Can anyone suggest another reason this happened other than Baines does not want a new contract?
Fair play to Baines.he has kept quiet all the way through. In my humble opinion, he has behaved with lots of dignity and in the right way. I know this will wind a load of fans up, but it is the same as what Moyes did. He kept saying he would not discuss a new contract until the end of the season.
If I am correct, then Baines will be off in Jan. In the same way as Moyes. He will have done exactly the same as Moyes. ie he has known for a long time that he is off to Utd and has forced the situation by running his contract down. If he is allowed to run it down completely (as per Moyes) we will get no transfer fee from Utd. He will become a free agent. More likely we will get whatever we can in Jan and Utd get their man as per usual. Shaw on the other hand has (like I said previously) signed a 5 year deal meaning Southampton can ask whatever price they like. They can refuse to sell unless they get a silly big offer. People talk about loyalty and values. Unfortunately, loyalty is now only as long as the contract lasts. And it works both ways. If a player under performs, the club don't say, well his contract runs out soon but he has been loyal, so we will give him a new 5 year deal.no, they say bye bye.
This situation applies to all clubs and includes managers, players and any other contracted staff. The only loyalty these days is where a player spends years at a club then moves into coaching. And that probably suits the club too. A cheaper new coach who everyone knows.

I can only imagine Ed, rather you than me pal :)
Degsy, if Baines does leave for Utd then I would be very surprised if he sticks the boot in after he leaves and disrespects us as Saint David has done.

Johnny day I wrote that southampton could demand 25 plus and you thought it was deluded, like with everton its not what the players worth its what he could be worth, the guys already peforming like a pro and he's english and on a 5year deal, trust me when I say a player that is happy aswell demands a lot more

Rarely post who I think we should sign but i'm prepared to say we should do whatever it takes to get Ryan Gauld of Dundee Utd. I've seen countless great performances by youngsters with talent but rarely do I think they are the real deal. i'd need to watch them a lot to be sure of that. Not this kid. Forget the usual mini Messi comparisons, he is Michael Laudrup. He glides across the pitch feinting past people and his touch is sublime. there's an elegance on the ball you could liken to a Le Tissier or Waddle. Its not blistering pace, but everything just looks in sync. Yet he has the vision and pass execution of a Scholes. Combine the two and you get the modern Michael Laudrup. Youd pay £80m in this market for one of those. The thought of him and Ross Barkley linking together frightens me. With a £6m asking price I've seen enough to say its worth the punt. If someone gave me £20m I would happily give every penny to Dundee Utd. Then again I am skint. But that doesn't change the fact this kid is the real deal
