Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

With only 5 days until the transfer window closes, I’m thinking that with our track record of drawn out transfers, if we haven’t heard anything positive by now, it’s looking highly unlikely we’ll get anything over the line.

Watching Luke shaw tonight and he’s not done much wrong. Looks strong, willing runner and only Seen him out of position once.
We should put a strong bid in for him, however possibly too late now as it takes EFC weeks to sort a deal.

My mother's maiden name was Shaw. I'd sign him on that basis alone. Illogical but there you go.

Might be a silly question but what is the main role of the director of football in the club. Is he a link between manager and the board or is there something else. Is he in charge of recruitment and has final say over whay players we buy and sell?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

26 Jan 2018 17:43:29
His main role in our club is to identify transfer targets and then persuade them not to come, ours excels at this.
He also links the board and the manager, he does this by ignoring the manager and forgetting to tell the board.
Oh and when a manager gets the sack he puts forward the names of really bad ones so he looks better.

Hope this has cleared things up for you.

Looking at the whole issue with Everton at this time, I see so many posters criticising SA for so many things. Firstly other than Tosun and Walcott this is a squad he has inherited not built, and although recent results have been poor it also brings into context many questions he has asked.
He has questioned the fitness overall of the squad and how players are adapting and performing. It makes me believe that what I have though for a long time is that the recruitment policy at the club has no structure and that Walsh and previous managers have not worked together!
I would question the role Walsh has played the expectations we had and the result he has delivered, we have so many questionable signings, Rooney, Sigurdsson, Sandro, Klassen, Vlasic, Williams and Martina all underperforming and seemingly unable to gel as a team. You could also ask why so many aging players have not had long term replacements signed, developed and ready to step up.
We undoubtedly have a great youth system that develops players for the future which we have witnessed this season, however it is wrong to put too much pressure on them, playing them constantly to do the job of senior pros and risking burn out.
Maybe it is time for a new DOF and a restructure of the scouting and recruitment set up, or perhaps let the Manager have more input, after all it is ultimately his neck on the block if it goes wrong!

26 Jan 2018 16:00:04
Agree on Mr Walsh it is my understanding though that in order to recruit his 'magic' scouting abilities his appointment as DoF was a sweetener. As mentioned before by myself and others the opinion is that DoF is above his pay grade. I stress this is purely an opinion on his job role and in no way personal.

Williams had pretty solid first season with us.

26 Jan 2018 19:59:13
I actually believe one of the best signings he’s made (and if we can keep hold of him) is yet to play in an Everton shirt but I honestly believe he can be a big player for us and pretty much be one of the first names on the team sheet week in week out. One Henry Onyekuru, I seriously can’t wait to see him play for us.

Regarding the fume about lookman potentially going out on loan I don't understand why everyone is fuming! In the games he's played he's got 3 goals, one of them on his debut and two against Limassol, when he comes on he looks upfront and scares opposition but he's also not got a great end product, that will be the reasoning he's going out on loan to improve on this, he's better out on loan rather than a sub appearance every other game.

What annoys people is the likes of Schneiderlin, Williams, Martina and even Rooney and Siguurdson together, The first three hopelessly out of form with no sign of improvement and the latter two while talented patently cannot occupy the same space. Lookman offers more productivity than Schneiderlin, Williams and Martina combined so is shipped out on loan, add to him Klassen, Sandro and Vladic given no chance and it is all rather perplexing. If it is so obvious we cannot improve on mid table and are fairly certain of staying up why not change things and give the new recruits a chance. Oh and add Keane to the latter.

26 Jan 2018 13:40:05
Would anyone want to lose Niasse in January? I wouldnt, because he comes off the bench, gives his all and changes games. Exactly the same reason we need to keep Lookman. If he'd been awful when he come on then yeah, let him go, but for me, he has been pretty good off the bench.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Jan 2018 14:41:52
As regards Lookman the guy has had 1 league start and 5 off the bench and 4 cup starts and another 5 off the bench. In Cyprus he scored twice in a team that was made up of players not playing in the derby but having passports and being able to walk. He scores 2. One league start and about 17 mins 40 seconds in total off the bench. In that time he looks quick, skilful and direct. He must have wondered why he didn't get a chance in a tesm yhat could barely kick the skin off a rice pudding. He now finds himself down the pecking order from Bolassie, who has only been off crutches for about 10 days and Walcott who has spent a decade at Arsenal not delivering on his promise. I think that if I were Lookman I would be talking to Oumar about playing through rejection.

26 Jan 2018 14:48:03
Lookman is not getting enough game time, I believe they are only looking at a short loan to give him this.

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Jan 2018 17:03:58
What is your basis for that belief?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jan 2018 19:41:11
Don't loan him and play him, simple, that gives him game time, either use him as a weapon off the bench or as a starter to run at defenders, we constantly pick the ball up and look backwards and sideways because there is no movement in front or on the channels, pace scares fullbacks and has them defending deeper, for all this 'oh Sam is ahead of his time with analysis' he has failed to analyze and utilise the raw pace at his disposal, add to this the fascination of playing central attacking midfielders on the left and making them look bad because of what's behind them (Sigs and vlasic) and I really don't see him as the answer.
The excuse of having inherited Koemans squad wears thin with me, he has natural pacey wingers, yet doesn't use them, he now has an extra striker so can go 2 up top, yet persists with 2 non holding, non protecting, non forward moving midfielders.
Lookman should start ahead of Bolasie IMO, if your good enough your old enough, rant over.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jan 2018 19:52:00
vlasic had a chance the other week and was taken off as he was woeful, sandro got a chance the other week off the bench and was woeful, he didn't even try, if a player isn't getting a chance there is reasons behind the scenes but when they do get an opertunity there not even showing willing then what's the point just get rid, over next two windows i want these players gone:

this window or summer
martina
williams
morgan
besic
sandro

loan this window
tarashaj (prem team)
baningime
vlasic
klassen

big clear out and bring in 3/ 4 players that are first team quality who are able to change a game.

The Lookman situation has driven me crazy this season. He hasn't been given game time.

Sam also has it wrong with his statement you have one game to earn your place. It takes a consistent team to gel as long as there is effort. After the game you work on areas that need improving. Eventually you build a spirit and an understanding between you all.

That is the problem we have now. A bunch of quality players but individuals instead of a team.

loaning lookman out is what's best for him, don't get me wrong in my opinion he should be in contention for starting most games and at least getting on the pitch off the bench, but big sam doesn't even put him in the match squad, what on earth he sees in bolasie over ademola ill never understand, probs just because he's over 25 sam gets erect and thinks experience is everything.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

26 Jan 2018 19:58:54
Are you seriously saying lookman is better than bolasie, he has potential to be but right now bolasie is far better mate he's had a few off games but he's been out for a year give him a few weeks to get up to speed.

Hi ed mate, is there anything in terms of incoming that could be done before the deadline. All seems to have gone quiet. Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - irons are in fires joe and the money is there if a deal can be struck for the right players joe, a defender is priority of course but i wont rule out a midfielder either, i expect to see a couple going out on loan at the last knockings to free up a couple of squad places, if sam cant get the right players though he will not bother mate as we already have too many also rans..
