Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

. today was 1 of those days when it feels special to be a proud Everton fan, I said to my mate I had a feeling just before kick off it was going to be our day with a handsome win, what a performance & credit where it's due to Bobby for being tactically astute today.for me this was the Everton again of last season. I think with 3 quality signings in the summer & a decent pre-season - I think we could then kick on & challenge for the top 4 again without the distractions of the dreaded Europa league!

One game doesn't make the manager a tactical genius but, credit where it is due, RM had a game plan and his players executed it perfectly. What has changed? Was the squad too small to compete home and abroad? Personally, I think he should have used the kids more in europe, giving them vital experience, leaving the senior squad to attack the league. Maybe it's no coincidence that our form has picked up after being knocked out.
Has RM had a bit of arrogance knocked out of him? He, of late, seems to have listened to either the fans, players or board and has been more adaptable. Whatever has happened, long may it continue! We need a proper pre-season under our belts, coupled with a few additions to the squad, and then play to our potential from the first whistle of the new season. If the manager wants to remain in the job then he has to learn from his mistakes, last summer being one of them, but we will know by November if he has.
As a footnote, I was a bit disappointed with the minority of utd fans who ignored the minutes silence in honour of Sir Philip. Hopefully that spurred us on that little bit more

It's not one game mate have a look at the form table I think we are second we are unbeaten now for a while.

Depends which way you look at it Stef, it is, I believe, the first time we have beaten any of the top teams this season. If we want to be up there then you have to beat the teams that will be challenging you. It is certainly one of the few games that we have not bossed our opponents with regards to possession but managed to get at them on the counter. Without doubt we have been in better form since falling in europe but some of these wins have been uninspiring. Yes, a win is a win but today showed we can get at teams without passing the ball to death.
All in all a lot better but I don't want to get carried away with this victory. Let's hope we continue in this vain until the final game

I agree with what your saying Spud in a way, but I'm going by our form mate yes it might have been uninspiring but how many times this season have we controlled games and lost all I'm saying is we are in a very good moment and it is refreshing I do believe with the right signings in the summer and if we keep our best players we are in for a good season next year mate but that's Martinez's job and I hope he has his plan in place.

Just want to ask do you think Martinez deserves another crack with us next year or do we still want him gone he seems to be adopting different tactics now and different approach he got it spot on today and with no Europe next year and three good signings maybe just maybe we could crack the top 4. Personally I say yes I know I sound like a mixed up fan just a month ago I wanted him gone but now I think he might just be able to pull it off Martinez still manages to confuse me changing opinion I predict we will finish 8th which will be good considering we where facing relegation not so long ago.

As someone else said ages ago, give him until October/November and see if he has actually learned to listen and act (the hall marks of a good manager) which would add to his undoubted abilities. For instance the other young manager that everyone praises in Rodgers only left it a could of games before he quite recognised it was not working.

26 Apr 2015 19:50:42
He just needs to keep our best players now and add three quality players and I think we could be in for a great season next year but as I said Martinez still can bamboozle you but let's face it he is definitely here next year.

It has nothing to do with squad size it's the fact of playing Thursday and then Sunday it's harder than champions league to manage as you play Wednesday and Sunday which is easier to plan the week with training and traveling, every team that has gone into Europa league really struggles I have not seen one team improve there domestic campaign while being involved in it. Our form since being knocked out is brilliant, it's been a hard season to take but I have enjoyed watching us in Europe and as a club we should learn from it, we will be better equipped for it next time, makes me laugh when people say they don't want to be in it which is silly as unless you finish top 4 then the only way to avoid it is by finishing 8th or lower and don't win a cup. I think we will finish season strongly and be a force next season as no Europe.
Utd have been found out twice now all the possession and and Chelsea keeper and Howard hardly had to make a save even though they will get top 4 they are miles away from title and also apart from Chelsea and arsenal most teams have been poor this season

Yes definitely deserves to be here and imo is the right man to take us forward some top quality youngsters in our squad at the moment must keep hold of these and add 3-4 more and next season will b very exciting I think great performance today really enjoyed it

Doofy loofy and a punt on troy deeney.he has been consistent for 3 seasons at least.20 goals a season for past 3 seasons ain't bad at all,but as Watford have been promoted,I can't see him leaving.

Credit were credit is due I have been a critic of Martinez and his tactics all season but today he got it spot on not only with his starting 11 and formation but also with his substitutions. Maybe the recent form since exiting the europa can be carried on into next season with a few additions and a decent pre season. Still believe his arrogance in not changing formation when we were found out has cost us but maybe he has listened to the players and the unity is back. Also what about Baines deliveries today they were back to what was expected, Coleman looked back to himself wih some decent runs forward and John Stones well need I say it this lad is absolute class. To think Chris Smalling gets international recognition before Stones does, comical.

Like all I was pro Martinez last term then was frustrated mist of this season by him.but I would just like to say if we keep this form going he certainly deserves at least manager of the month recognition.

Ratings: howard-7-solid. Coleman-8-boss today and had ashley young quiet. Stones-9-kept falcao and rooney in his pocket, wonderful today. Jagielka-8.5-as solid as you can get. Baines-8-actual good corners and defended well. Barry-8.5-tackled well and kept the ball when we needed to, great again. Mccarthy-8.5-worked his landing gear off as usual, his positioning was top notch again today. Barkley-6.5-made the wrong decision at times but ran and put a foot in. Lennon-7.5-didnt see as much of the ball as usual but worked hard, tracked his runners and did his job. Osman-7-found it a bit odd, him vs valencia is mismatch but he worked hard and protected baines well. Lukaku-7-'ahaha watch mcnit have lukaku in his pocket again ahaha' lol, that paddy mcnair is bloody awful and couldn't cope with roms presence. Mirallas-6.5-scored a goal, yay!!. Naismith-6-. Kone-6-. We were beautiful today, martinez outdid van gaal tactically, all our lads worked hard and we fully deserved that result. A few things 1.blind is terrible, I've seen him a few times this season and thought 'what does he do?' and i'm still nonthewiser as he's garbage. 2.mcnair is not that good, he tried his best john stones impression today but can't control the ball or tackle. 3.rooney again didn't look arsed. 4. That was a boss game. Made up with thay result and performance.

If Everton continue in this vein until the end of the season, would you still wanna replace Martinez?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good question that juicer, for me he has either become less stubborn or has listened to the players and supporters...if it continues i would expect he will stay mate..

I couldn't go today but dropped my son off. Excellent game but I am so disappointed in the Everton fans. From what I've been told both from my lad and others who were at the ground it was quite a number of Utd fans who refused to respect the minutes silence. I have never sung anything abusive towards a Utd fan and wouldn't dream of it but I now see the true colours coming from Manchester. Utter pond life.
