It was blatantly obvious last season that the manager had lost most if not all players and fans, this season we had to loose at some point. Didn't get chance to catch the game unfortunately so not best judged to say why we played bad, only know what I've read here.

Why is it that when we played bad last year it was the managers fault but when we play bad now it's the players fault?

When we played bad last year it was the managers fault is your first point. Yes it was his fault pretty much. Why? Because he was s*ite basically.

I can only speak for myself but never wanted RM and his bad management came to a head last season. Put my neck out and said I wanted Koeman even when he was denying he had any interest. I said I thought he was the best manager we could possibly get. I still think that.

He has to deal with the bad management that affected 80% of the squad. He's doing a good job so far imho. I may be proved wrong with Koeman yet but his start is very good imho.

That's why I don't get your second point when we play bad this season its the players fault? We've lost 2 games out of 8? Isn't much to compare to last season really where there was 38 plus games.

Of course at times the players were at fault last season. But in the main the problem was at the top. Shaking off the cobwebs now will take time and patience. Players will play bad. We will be beaten and supporters will be p*ssed off.

But imho we will be far better off come the end of the season. My opinions, but hey, what the hell do I know.

What a great question, I would be interested to see how people answer this as when I suggested last season that the players were as much to blame as the manager I got slated for it!

Omg, guess we were far too hasty with our dear old Bobby and those posters who wanted him to stay as our manager. well... what can we say? 'Oops sorry you did warn us didn't you! '

BS Martinez esq. v Mr Koeman? Are you kidding 😕.

Blue 247, I never for one minute said I wanted RM to stay on as manager I was just throwing some words into the hat. but must admit I was one who never wanted RK as our manager, but will back him as long as I can. I just thought we could have done better.

Sky I didn't think for one minute you wanted RM to stay mate and wasn't really replying to your OP specifically as such .

As for wanting RK, well I did from the get go if not before that even LOL . . and always had a sneaky suspicion Saints would do their usual shortsighted negotiations fiasco re transfer kitty and selling off the family jewels etc. even though he pulled them out of a massive hole that they dug for themselves!
So the very fact FM wanted him here with us too means I will give pass after pass so to speak, the truth is I believe in him 100%.

Skylark, not having a pop but whow else could we possibly of got that would be better?

I wanted Koeman from the start and rate him. At the same time he is not a sure bet. Question marks over whether the relative success at Southampton was down time him or a management team effort. I'm delighted with him at Everton and think he'll do good.

I'm oblivious to him not succeeding, as I said there is no guarantee. Imho this Everton job will be the making or breaking of him. Done well at Southampton. If he also does well at Everton he will have proven himself. Other clubs may come calling but hopefully he be that big of a success at Everton he won't want to leave.

NBTB, I don't know who we could have got? A couple of ex-Man City managers maybe? And a couple more come to mind just glad it wasn't me making the decision but I will back him while I'm at the game as long as I can but something just doesn't seem right to me let's hope you are right and prove me wrong.

Ballotelli doing good also. Hope he keeps it up. He has the talent. It would be a shame to see it go to waste.

If Wenger were to leave Arsenal at the end of the season do you think we would lose Koeman?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

25 Sep 2016 14:27:14
Why would we?

Possible. He left Southampton for us. Can't see why we could completely rule out him leaving. Stranger things have happened.

Why would Arsanel want Koeman? He has proved nothing yet.

I can't disagree with you much on that milomj. But you can also look at it that why wouldn't they want him? Who else would they go for?

Imho apart from not winning much or anything really outside Holland, Koeman fits the bill perfectly at Arsenal. Everything about him is suited to a club like Arsenal imo.

He oozes class. That's just my opinion. Very grounded, real and does what's needed to be done. A lot like Wenger in a lot of ways.

Not saying its going to happen but I would not be one bit surprised if it does. Obviously I'd hope he does well at Everton and remains here for many seasons to come.

My guess is Wenger wants to win one last trophy before he goes.

We have a full squad of 25 aged-over-21 players registered for the Premier League.
If we want to bring in players in January, some of the current 25 will have to be moved out.
Assuming that RK's signings - Stek, Williams, Gueye, Bolasie and Valencia - all remain, which of the other 20 would you say must NOT be moved out?
Most fans/ posters can say who they definitely want moved out - and who they would like brought in - but who would you NOT want to see leave in January to create room for incomings?

I'd say lukaku, Barry, jags, baines, colmean, mirallas, mori, lennon, robles as a reserve keeper and adviously keep the koeman signings.
Holgate is a keeper but not sure on his age.
Ross and geri I'm unsure of as they can be dire or awesome in equal measure.

The rest can go for me if we can for me if we can get suitable replacements.

Need to strengthen in every department.

The thing is Sid, the only players that will be moved out are any of Gibson, Kone, Niasse, Lennon, Cleverly, Oviedo and Robles. I can't see anyone shedding any tears for any of those players (providing we replace a few of them) . The only one on the chopping block who I would like to see stay is McCarthy. He still has a lot to offer the squad, even if he isn't a shoo in for the first team.

{Ed025's Note - im on the same wavelength tommy..

25 Sep 2016 13:32:29
Fully agree with you Blue Tommy but let me throw this one into the mix regards McCarthy. What if he has already peaked? what if the only improvement we ( or any other team ) are likely to see from him is negligible, is he good enough for us not to look for a replacement in the January window or even in the summer? I'm not denying he is a good player but is his potential good enough?

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Sep 2016 14:56:42
I think we've got more pressing issues than replacing McCarthy. Good backup striker, competition for Barkley, and reliable cover for Baines is more important in my opinion.

25 Sep 2016 16:18:36
I agree Blue Tommy. Although left back would be down the pecking order in my books. Between Garbutt, Galloway and Oviedo one of them would have to come up thrumps as back up. Right back needs strengthening even though we have Holgate. More of a centre back imo. Goalkeeper wouldn't go astray either.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Sep 2016 19:56:16
I know what you mean about the left back NBTB, but with Garbutt and Galloway on season long loans, for me if Baines gets injured then Oviedo is unreliable both form and fitness wise. You're right about the goalkeeper. If RK has made his mind up and thinks Joel isn't good enough, then ship him out and sign a new no.1, even if Stekelenburg has to make way despite his promising start.

Very happy with Stek. Koeman and Stek himself probably not getting as much credit as they should for that signing. Still would rather another keeper signed. Koeman must not think much of Joel. He's not giving him a sniff. Would love a young proper Goalkeeper. Not sure who though.
