Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Today reminded me of the Walter Smith era, 11 men behind the ball playing for a 0-0 !! Shocking, would of prefered us to have a go at city and start with a striker, im not knocking the tactics to play 4-5-1, most teams will play that against them away but we had literally every player hanging on for dear life and no one as striker we should of at least started with a striker !! So negative yet again, i said this last week, we were lucky against Wigan and West Brom and only got the win when we bought on strikers

I love DM to death, but Im sorry you can't bemoan a lack of strikers when you let sell two strikers. the yak and Bekford. Ok not the best in the world but there more of a striking option than Cahill at the moment.

This is what I would love to see by next season:

DECEMBER:
Complete takeover + Fellani signs new deal

JANUARY:
Sign Leandro Damiao for around 15 million

MAY:
Finish 5th in Prem + Win FA Cup

SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW:
Make Drenthe move permanent and maybe Straculuasi deal permanent
Sign Yann M'Vila for around 15 million
Sign Christian Eriksen for around 20 million
Hold onto Barkley, Baines, Jagielka, Rodwell + Fellani

Would love to see this happen but its probably just a dream :(

Yes mate that is just a dream, i can almost gaurentee kenright will still be in charge nest summer and we will have another drab transfer window, only posative is we have one of the best managers in the league who will keep us top 7 again.

Im still speechless from our performance today ! I would like to know if fans would rather have a go and lose 3-0 or play like we did today ??
I would much rather see us have a go than plat for a 0-0. Moyes said after the game "we set up to make sure we didn't get they didn't score 4 or 5 goals like they have been, i weren't going to let that happen to us, and we did well untill the goal" THAT STATEMENT SUMS HIM UP. VERY NEGATIVE !
It was embarrassing to listen to all the pundits on the tely basically laughing at the fact that we had 3 strikers on the bench and 4 defenders and 6 midfielders on the pitch.
WHY ? Moyes doesn't know the fans, i and most blues would much rather have saw us have a go today with strikers and get beat then sit through that negative performance.
Only plus side was that we defending well and Distin was outstanding again, and i thought Rodwell did a great job on Silva when he was man marking him.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

You are a blue so you must have seen us play 4 4 2 in the past and everytime we do we get over run in midfield we were shocking against west brom and we were very lucky to win the game, we will always struggle playing 442 most teams play an extra man in midfield just to match the opposition. the comment by moyes about us not conceding 4-5 is very relavent, if we had of played an open game they would have put a bag load past us with their strikers and we can never match that

Agree0 Disagree3

I have saw everton play 4-4-2, when we did last season in january, we won 4 and drew 1 and scored 14 goals and beckford scored 3 and saha scored 3, check the history on the website.
What annoys me is i understand that some games you may play 4-5-1 but that doesnt mean you play with all 11 men behind the ball mate. Look at other teams that play 4-5-1, when they attack its basically 4-3-3.... when the defend its 4-5-1...... we dont do that because we have never had a striker that can play on there own up top, i believe that Yakubu giving a run in the side with a partner up front would of gained confidence and scored...... same with Beckford like in my last point, when he and Saha played together he scored a few goals.
Does nobody ever wonder why Yakubu scored 22 goals in his first season for us ?? He played up front with Andy Johnson thats why.
Today fella are formation was 5-5-0 simple as, it wasn't even 4-5-1. That shows a lack of confidence from Moyes in his players.
Your defending the tactics today and defending Moyes, fair enough, but next week i the derby will you be happy if we play like we did today ? Or would you rather us go at liverpool and if we get beat at least we can say at least we went for it....... today what can we say, it was clear we played for a 0-0 and we havent done that since Walter Smith was manager

the team I would play for the derby:

howard
hibbert jagielka distin baines
rodwell osman
coleman drenthe
fellaini
vellios...

this team will really suit us, because of late, its just been long ball after long ball after long ball

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Totally agree mate ! Vellios has impressed me everytime he has featured, time for him to start !

Agree3 Disagree0

Were at home moyes will play same team and tactics as today would love to 4.4.2 against the red s**te with two up front, two wide men and have a go and beat them well but it wont happen it gives them a lift and an advantage.come on moyes play attacking football at home and beat these,

Long ball, long ball, long ball!! Big Dunc is no longer there lads! If you insist on playing the long ball then at least learn how to do it first.... Fellie looked like he was running under water for most of the game, couldn't hold the ball up, tackle or pass. Thought Rodders was better than usual today, did a good job on Silva. Distan was solid, MOM for me. Won't go on about the 4-4-2 thing because it's obvious, but it may be a good thing if Cahills out. We may start games with a striker on the pitch for a change......Webb was a joke today. Booked Neville without even seeing it, when they fouled us he gave them a free-kick! We win a throw, he gives it to them! Good thing we didn't score... he'd probably have given it to them! Ha! Whats that about Webb?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Webb must support both Manchester teams! Blue Lee

Another inept display of management from Moyse. How can you go against a team like City and go lets see what minutes you score in. Every blue I know is sick to death of his negative tactics and lack of attacking displays from his teams. {Ed025's Note - we are all saying the same mate, and what baffles me, is that when we do attack...we look a far better team!..

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I would love to start a game with an attacking 4-4-2 formation with two recognised strikers up front. I really hope we go all out for the win next saturday, because if we do i fancy us for a win
Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - if we set up like today bez...the best we can hope for is a 0-0 draw! 5-5-0....my arse..

the derby next week and play like that and we will be beaten allthough liverpool didnt play great today and we no form goes out the window,we have to attack them with a 442 from the start, cahill injured but dnt no how long he be out,so that mite wqork in our favour

Hope moyes has learnt a lesson today! We played 4-5-0 and still lost! So may aswell attack and have a chance of scoring, we look like scoring everytime we change formation! We have a really difficult run of games which we could lose them all then were in deep s**t! But with a more positive system we could just as easily win so not the end of the world just yet! A few changes and were be bck on top! Lets start by destroying the reds next week saha and veli to start!

is it just me or does howard webb hate everton the best ref he was shambolic today

Believable7 Unbelievable0

We did seem to be on the wrong end of some decisions today, we just didn't show enough in the final third to get anything from the game today.

I know it was man city today, and moyes job is to get points for everton but how embarassing the first time this season we were on live tely for everyone to see and we basically played 5-5-0 ! Its was unbelievable !!
From the 1st minute it was like it was the last minute and we holding on for life ! Ive saw teams park the bus against sides like city and man united but that was shocking.
Credit to the defence because they did their job brilliantly and young Jack Rodwell was fantastic man marking Silva but after that moyes must surely see that we have to start offering more 4-4-2 !!!!!! {Ed025's Note - we all want that mate...except david.....i would sooner attack and lose 4-0, than try hold out from the first minute, for a 0-0 draw at best!

24 Sep 2011 16:13:07
Didn't deserve to win today, maybe could off got the draw with how well we defended for 70 minutes, but how bad was Howard Webb the referee today ??
Unbelievable decisions for the whole game !
We had nothing going forward but i think we will be a bit more attacking next week in the derby, i would start with Vellios, been saying this since start of the season, he impresses me every time he comes on {Ed025's Note - no we did not deserve to win!..when a team sets out with a 5-5-0 line up....they deserve nothing, which is what we got!..

Dear mr moyes
You are a fantastic manager one of the best in the league but will you please start playing attackig football, everytime we go a goal down you switch to a 442 formation and we end up winning the game, didnt work today but we looked like scoring! So please please strt with 2 strikers next week and leave cahill on the bench! Thankyou :-) {Ed025's Note - i could not agree more..we were set up lose, playing basically 5-5-0 to see how long we could last without them scoring!....im sorry , but i expect more!,,

Not a bad defensive display,we gifted them the second goal! They had to work for that! Going forward we were non existant! Surely moyes can see we have to ply 2 upfront! Velli and saha looked good when they came yes drenthe made a misake to gift them a goal but he looked like he could cause problems! For f*** sake moyes 442 ! Im beginning to lose my pateince with him!

United were the only prem team to draw lower league opposition in the league cup! Typical lucky b**tards! Home tie with chelsea i fancy our chances! :-) {Ed025's Note - its a tough one..but a home draw gives us an advantage..

Tim's been going through a bit of a drought, so no better place to get his goal, than the place were he loves scoring? COYB! (Wavertree Blue)
