Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

24 Oct 2015 23:25:18
Totally abject performance against Arsenal which only for a deflective goal would probably been a heavy defeat.
What is really concerning is we can't seem to do the basics like passing to a team mate, I lost count of how many times we surrended control to the opposition without being under pressure.
Frustratingly, we don't seem to see or understand the areas that need addressing.
To set out with two right widemen, albeit Lennon playing on the left, resulted in an unbalanced attacking formation. I can understand the thinking that he puts in a shift and maybe would therefore help Galloway defensively but he was totally ineffective as an attacking force. Mirallas would have been a better starting option.
Howard should have been substituted at half time because he doesn't command his six yard area and was responsible for both goals. Despite the quality of the crosses he should have collected or punched both.
The same issues continue in terms of tactical know how surround both McCarthy and Barkley. Both need to be more disciplined, McCarthy wastes energy by chasing lost causing visible fatigue in the last twenty minutes, whilst Barkley despite being our most creative player needs to understand football is about movement and positioning in both offensive and defensive situations.
Skill on the ball is not an excuse ŷfor lack of work rate and putting in a shift for the team. He should look at Cazola, Ozil, Sanchez and Ramsey at Arsenal and the likes of Silva and Mata from the Manchester clubs.
On a positive note Funes Mori looks a good player and Roberto looked as frustrated as the supporters and I lip read an expletive during the second half.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i hope his expletive was.."what the **** is our goalie doing?" fancy, i agree with most of that mate..

25 Oct 2015 01:36:47
Couldn't of put it better myself! Can't string a pass together! Are midfield was poor, No sevice to lukaku whatsoever! Should of dropped barkley second half for kone, seems to link up better with lukaku, putting him on for the last 5 mins is pointless. We lack creativity there's no flair at all, we always look like when we're in possession we haven't got a clue what to do with the ball an not one player seems to want or has any urgency to run in to a position to recive the ball? And we're awful at set peaces! Defending and attacking them! Are corners are just as bad, we miss Tim cahill and baines! We need a playmaker or 2? And I think Howard is on the decline. Great on his day but I think we need to start looking for a replacement. Buckland or Schmeichel maybe? . I'm not sure Joel is the answer?

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed003's Note - get beat by a team that just beat bayern and look really good to me, but hey ho! }

25 Oct 2015 08:28:58
Howard at fault should have come for both goals, Barry weak pass for their goal, Jagielka out of position and lost his man on both goals, Coleman can't defend and dives in like a Sunday morning defender. Everton have the players to play like the Team in the 80's and Martinez should take a leaf out of Bilics book. Bilic interview, we have the players doubling and tripling up on the opposition when we defend (Everton 80's) and giving multi-options in attack (Everton 80's) . A relatively simple tactic that has worked time and again with all Teams that have employed it. But apparently Rodgers and Martinez are the future. God help us.

25 Oct 2015 09:41:10
We did play bad but Ed003 puts things into perspective above. I wouldn't get carried away with the last 2 results.

We just need to drop the Barcelona wannabe tag and become Everton again!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 21:20:59
Ha just read, Martinez believes we,
'Let in soft goals'.
No s#! t Sherlock! Like that's not happened since you took over?
Try sacking your Defensive Coaching staff might help your position.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - and take the goalkeeping coach with you..

24 Oct 2015 21:52:11
You mean we pay someone to teach goalkeeper to play like that!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - apparently we do mate..

24 Oct 2015 23:08:50
No, even worse, we pay our goalkeeper to play like that. Its up to Howard to make the saves during the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 20:43:48
Okay it was Arsenal away so no knee jerk reaction.
Just a question, what progress has our club made since Moyes left?
We are light years away from Champions League and yet we have some quality players.
Ed, whenever Bartley plays deep we are ineffective, goalkeeper is useless and Barry is finished.
I posted a few weeks ago about lack of defensive coaching that resulted (yet again) in in ridiculous goals handed to Arsenal.
Mid table at best under present manager and coaching staff.
We need a win next week or I think patience will start to be lost with the present regime.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - for me mushy we start too slowly mate and yes thats the managers fault, in games like today and WBA we never started playing until we were 2 down, when we are at it we actually look very good and that needs addressing urgently..

24 Oct 2015 23:11:08
Well said Mushy. sums up very much what I've been saying now for the past 12 months. on the field we've made no progress since Moyes has left - in fact things are worse as we are now a mid table team whereas under Moyes we were consistently top 5/6/7.a couple more months of results like these and the natives will be getting restless. we need this American consortium to take over the club with all its dos has quickly as possible and then appoint Ancellottii as gaffer!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - wow...i just seen a pink elephant flying past my window.. :)

24 Oct 2015 23:32:14
Its all about the dream Ed!

24 Oct 2015 20:37:16
People are putting the team down an awful lot after 2 bad games in a row. There is 38 games to be played. a lot saying we will finish 10th, 11th in or around that. I'm more optimistic. Currently moral is low. That will change you can be sure. Its Utd and Arsenal we lost to. 2 teams in with a good shout of winning the league. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say top 7 at worst come the end of season. Anyone can take note if they want. Won't bother me if I'm wrong. I'm staying optimistic even though our current form is off. I have faith it will improve.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

24 Oct 2015 21:32:28
It should not matter whom we play Mushy we are in the PL for a reason to challenge to win it, losing too United or the Gooners should not be expected or predictable, no doubt we have good players but you have to ask the question are we being managed correctly.

Agree1 Disagree4

24 Oct 2015 22:00:10
agree nb considering last years form and the tough start we have had think we have done ok could of took more points I think but only lost to three of the top four this season now we need to show we can beat the rest much easier run of games comin think we can expect some wins now which should put us right back in it must look to be in strong position come the jan window and hopefully add 1/2 good signings considering the price we can take for either stones/barkley/lukaku and others if sold we need to be brave and show intent this window only then will we keep this squad together nothing to lose imo now or never signings I want yarmolenko and another exciting young forward alsos agree with earlier post of robles starting in cup deserves a chance now howard has bin awful not strong enough in the air unexceptable for a goalie still very excited about this season only a win will do next week coyb.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 22:04:38
Don't expect or predict we lose to them. I actually predicted a draw. Anyway, that's not the point. The point is if we were losing to say Sunderland or Aston Villa or Newcastle then I would be more concerned. We lost to Utd and Arsenal.

Very good sides. Arsenal are only after beating BM. A top champions league team. We are not going to win every game. Even though we did beat last years champions Chelsea and Southampton. Patience I think is needed not calling for heads as soon as we have a mini bad run.

Everton don't sack managers after 10 games. Not our style. Hopefully Martinez will ride this tide out. Even though I've said many times I'm not convinced of him yet. But he has to get a proper chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 22:37:32
I second that Cobyone apart from signing Yar, don't think he'd fit into the club. I'd try not to sell any players also. A lot of players are coming back from injury at the moment so competition for places are hottin up.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2015 08:37:23
Cobyone, lost to 3 of the top 4 this season so far, isn't that what we did under Moyes but finish consistently 5/6/7. Taking the stats so far under Martinez (and with a better Squad) we are going backwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 20:34:38
Just one thing would like to point out I like what i'm seeing from Mori, I know it's early days however looks quick good in the air and has a pass on him could be a good purchase.

I have been doing a lot of research into the founding fathers of the club and let me tell you the current state of our club they would be ASHAMED of our so called supporters. apparently evertonians are renowned for their smartness and they know the game. so why are they turning a blind eye over PHILLIP GREEN's ownership stake in the club. I'll keep at this topic no matter how many everton websites bar me as I'll be doing the right thing by the founders of the club ST DOMINGOES METHODIST CHURCH.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im more interested in whats happening on the pitch mate..

24 Oct 2015 21:57:59
Ed on pitch matters what about them Martinez is a fraud just like 75% of managers in the top flight. I heard a great radio interview by Sam allerdyce during the week on five live about west ham supporters droning on about the west ham way. I draw parallels with my fellow supporters about we have to play a certain way. well study your history of the clubs championship winning teams what did they have in common. they liked to kick the bag out of the opposition. give me dogs of war over this frauds football any day of the week.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if we had the dogs of war now ian we would end up with about seven players on the pitch at the end of every game!..football has moved on and the art of tackling is sadly frowned upon mate, im still undecided on roberto and will give him more time before i nail my colours to the mast..

24 Oct 2015 22:33:33
don't know Ed I'll have to look into our disciplinary record for those teams. English football is a disgrace well top flight English football is a disgrace. here's what would make me have hope. Brighton to win the championship and then their chairman come out and say they would rather play in the championship.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats called financial suicide ian..

24 Oct 2015 20:02:16
At least Barry is suspended. Only wish Howard was too.

Spot on I'd say Cobyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 19:59:24
On the plus side Barry's banned for a few games.

A keeper is a must soon. Howard is finished. Love the guy. Great servant to the club but time to pasture in the American leagues.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2015 19:55:47
Jags, has been a great servant to our club, but have to say that when he was replaced by Mori, we looked far more secure at the back. Galaway's a very good prospect, but felt today was a bridge to far, and that he would benifit from a rest for a few weeks, finally it's time for Tim to return stateside, he can still make great saves, but his mistakes and misjudgments are costing us to many games.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree with that JCW..when your keeper does not use his hands you are in trouble mate..

24 Oct 2015 19:49:43
Unlucky today Gent's,

We seemed to have you on the back foot, but once Ross scored you boys were a different proposition.
Very nervy last 20 mins for us.
I'm not even going to mention Dim Howard. Shocker.
Good luck for rest of season, you will finish above L'pool.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - arsenal started from the first whistle dags, while we took 60 mins to get going mate, plus your keeper is quality and ours an arse clown..

24 Oct 2015 20:15:27
We seemed to back off a bit once you scored mate, and you picked up the pace.
Very nervous 2-1 win but happy we hung on.
Thank you Tim :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 20:21:27
without biggin you up too much Dags you out passed us and won every second ball, lakaku never got a sniff which I put down to lack of service. We have a good run of games coming up so onwards and upwards COYB.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 20:43:56
True Lancer,
We tend to outpass most clubs, sometimes with no end product, but we took our chances today.
But, Everton did impress me, thought Doofy was a bit quiet, Barry was tidy, and Mori looked comfortable.
To be fair to Lukaku, he didn't get any service. Glad Naisy didn't play, he always scares me.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 19:46:36
What's the point of putting Kone. a on with 2 minutes left?
Another very poor game from Lukaku he makes Bret Angle look good! How we wasted 28 million on that yard dog I'll never know.
We have got 3 of the most sort after defenders in the league but can't defend a simple cross.
We have got a midfield that work really hard but create very little another reason we need a forward that can at least hold the ball up.
We have had a tough start to the season but there will be no excuses in the weeks to come starting with Sunderland next week who will come for a draw
Massive improvement needed throughout the team
Oh yeh and Howard needs to hang his gloves up!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - bit harsh on rom there S, never got much help out there mate..

24 Oct 2015 20:26:35
I agree Ed, how can Lukaku do anything when he can't get on the ball. It should be passed more often to him to get him involved. There was a good few times Barkley should of passed to him imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its hard for a front man when his service is so poor NBTB..

24 Oct 2015 20:35:21
Your right edd he never got much help but he also doesn't help himself
He is too slow to get the ball under control and by that time the defender is on him, he's poor at leading the line as he gets caught offside to much and his hold up play is none existent but apart from that he's ok
Wouldn't look out of place in the north west counties!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a bit harsh that S mate, i have been very critical in the past but he will score you goals if you give him the correct service..

24 Oct 2015 22:58:23
Totally Ed, one problem. He needs to be passed the ball to score. No point passing it about with nothing at the end of it. Give it to him early and get he's touchs, sharpness and confidence going. He'll just go stale if he doesn't get on the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

24 Oct 2015 19:40:17
Seriously, how long are we going to suffer watching this goal keeping clown flapping around costing us vital points? Both crosses would have taken comfortably by a decent goalkeeper or at least punched out. So so annoyed as we could easily have got a point if not more toady. I said we need at least 4 points from Liverpool, United and the Arsenal and we managed 1.God help us until Jan where hopefully we can get a goalkeeper that actually saved you points not gives them away. Thought Gerard played well today even though he can frustrate the hell out of you. At least it looks like something might happen when he gets the ball. Mr real criticism is playing the ball from the back when the conditions are so poor, we gave the ball away so many times including for the second goal. Think Funes Mori should start, looks class. Please please Roberto sort out the keeper situation.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2015 19:37:50
I was say was I fan of Howard but now he has to be dropped and give JR a shout any decent keeper would of screamed their balls off to to catch both those crosses or punch away. Sorry Tim time to go.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2015 19:24:17
Game over, not going to bother with ratings. It's Arsenal so not too annoyed. Issue is, we lost because of Starfish Timmy in goal. Petr Cech, Keeper who wins games, Tim Howard, Keeper who loses games.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - just give us times rating then swan..

24 Oct 2015 19:45:46
Well the tough 10 fixtures are over. I'm not overly disappointed with how they went over all. Still in Carling cup also.

I'd say a lot of people would of took where we are today before the season started when we all knew the first 10 games we had ahead of us. Its a good sign that people are disappointed with losing to Arsenal and Utd.

Wouldn't write the season off yet. Was a decent performance today with bad goalkeeping. Although Barkley is one of my favourite's and scored the goal he was very frustrating at times today.

No reason why we shouldn't have a good run up to the new year.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im afraid the only word for ross today was...crap..

24 Oct 2015 19:08:48
As long as Tim Howard is in goal for Everton we will win nothing. He has to be dropped instantly and if not then for sure RM is an idiot. Two crosses at perfect height for a competent keeper to claim or punch.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - I agree dero..

24 Oct 2015 19:53:09
It's obvious to all that other managers have identified Howard as the weak link in Evertons defence, so why hasn't Martinez.
Would also say how irresponsible of Barry to get a second yellow in the final minute to get sent off, especially when Jakielka is off injured.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - at leas barry gave his all keenone, there was no chance of ross being sent off was there mate?..

24 Oct 2015 19:13:29
Howard just can't dominate or command his area.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the difference between him and their keeper was massive billy, and although we were not at our best it probably cost us at least a point mate..

24 Oct 2015 18:22:38
Barkley not doing enough! Get mirallis on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2015 19:25:57
Well its official now, he has finally turned us into Wigan. Shades of last season, flattering to deceive and Roberto with no clue how to change tactics. God knows what goes on, on the training ground. I predicted we would finish 11th and have seen nothing after this to change my mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 18:18:46
I'm done, play Joel, don't care how dodgy he looks, he's much better than Howard. He is genuinely the worst Goalkeeper in the league.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2015 19:29:30
I would rather play Jagielka than Tim Howard as goalkeeper. Our defenders throw there bodies on the line and Timid Tim refuses to put his body on the line. Living on past glories Howard. Swan he would be the worst keeper in the A-league!

24 Oct 2015 18:17:47

Absolute rubbish every cross into the box has got goal written all over it
This has been going on for years and has got a lot worse since Distan was bombed out
We need a centre half who can attack a cross and a new keeper who can read a ball into the box.

24 Oct 2015 18:19:46

Any suggestions for new Goalkeepers? I would personally play Joel now and keep him in the team no matter what and see how he does. Coming in once every few weeks for one game is not enough to judge him. Especially when he knows he can't get in the first team. Howard is the biggest problem at the club at the moment and it needs addressing. Who do people want to come in? .

Believable1 Unbelievable1

24 Oct 2015 11:30:00
I agree Swan, I'd start Joel in the carling cup and after he has that game under his belt I'd start him in the premiership. Howard has been a good servant to the club but I think his best is well behind him and he is in decline.

Initially I wasn't a fan of Joel but last season when he got a run of games I was pleasantly surprised with how well he done. With every game he got better and better. He's still young for a goalkeeper and who knows could turn out to be a top keeper.

I'd give him his chance anyway and see how he gets on. If he struggles a good bit by January I'd prob be on the look out for a new keeper. In terms of who to bring in no one springs to mind. I'd definitely be looking for up and coming keepers if I was Martinez. In the long term our defence looks good. Be nice to cap it off with one or two good long term goalies who have a bright future.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 12:16:13
We are so week on corners and crosses it's untrue. We need a keeper to come for crosses and catch the ball. It's a basic requirement of keeping its like having a striker who won't jump for a headed goal.

I love Tims enthusiasm and Loyalty to our club. But the fundamentals aren't there. And the scary fact is you rarely win anything with a poor keeper which Tim was last season if we are to believe the stats.

Long winded answer to a very simple question sorry Swan. Joel to the end of the season then put a bid in for Vorm in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 14:15:55
To be honest with a run he may be okay, but at Reading he looked really shaky and is definitely not the answer stick with Howard until we can replace him.
Joel and alcaraz and kone were what RM knew when he came, they have not worked out and we are moving on from that mistake slowly.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Oct 2015 14:54:49
I agree with Alcaraz 100%. Never liked him but Kone. I know he's here a while but he hasn't had a chance till this season really because of injuries. I like what I see of him so far this season. I think if he stays injury free he could do well for us for a couple more seasons.

I didn't rate Joel either until last season. I get it hard to imagine anyone wouldn't be impressed with how he played last season when he got some games in a row. I thought he improved with every game. I also thought he filled out better. His first season he looked so scronie and skinny.

Seeing he improved with every game who knows how much he could actually improve if he was given a decent chance. He is young and there is a good chance he would keep improving. Howard on is on the other end imo. Declining and past his best.

A keeper I liked but time to move on imo.
