Quite a few posters on here are going on about Big sam and his negative style of football - its about time we started to blame the bang average players the club has purchased over the past year at stupid money - name a player in our current squad who would get a game in one of the top six sides - I could probably name maybe 2 players.

He has done a job with players at his disposal - the 2 players he has purchased ( walcott and Tosun ) have done quite well - the rest accept maybe Coleman and sigs are crap. koeman was the downfall of this club 200million plus on this lot of players is quite frankly embarassing.

That’s quite a sweeping. Statement!
Pickford is crap? He would get in a top six side
Gueye is crap? I think he would get in a top six side
I think the team needs an overhaul and yes Walcott and Tosun have been good additions but right now we are not near a top six side we need to build towards that and personally I don’t feel Large Samuel is the right man to take us there.

so it's nothing to do with Sam's negative tactics playing 2 def mids in every game bring a def on for an attacker when 1-1 away to Swansea playing 10 men behind the ball every game nope that's right it's the players fault behave yourself yes the players need to up their game but it starts with the manager and he isn't helping them out when it comes trying to play any sort of attacking game.

A point well made Bluey,
unfortunately I think Sam is often only interested holding on for the point too, his point well made as well!
often not pushing for that extra 2 points if we win!

Southern Toffee Sam had a massive opportunity when he got the job to show he can manage a big club and help them try to bridge the gap on the top 6 but he has shown he just isn't good enough with his tactics of I will take a draw in every game and if we win that's a added bonus if we lose well I will blame the players one thing Evertonions expect is 110% effort and that has been lacking all season not just under Sam but he was brought in to get this group of talented players playing (and they are talented Klasson Ajax cap sandro Barcelona wanted him Keane Burnley cap sigs Swansea cap Rooney utd cap) now nobody can say these are bad players they were the wrong players to buy 3 in the same position but still all good players add vlasic lookman tosun Walcott Davies jags Coleman Baines pickford gueye and I'm sorry but these are all good players and it was down to Sam and his 30 staffs job to work out how to get the best out of them but he has picked basically the same side as before he got the job while alienating some of the players ie Klasson vlasic Lookman and prob some others who escape me at the min the sooner this season finishes the better and then we can go again I hope anyway.

When Allardyce was appointed thos who opposed the appointment did so on the basisthat he is nothing more than Fireman Sam, a man who rescues struggling sides from situations where the end justifies the means.
His proponents argued that the reputation was unjustified. He had it only because circumstance had thrust him into situations where expediency was all. They argued that now that he was manager of a club with more resource we would see more of the Sam that was hinted at by the like of Jay Jay Okocha and Yuri Djorkaeff.
Relegation having been unlikely for some time and completely off the cards for the last three games then surely it is time for us to catch a glimpse of Sam, Sam the free flowing football man. Thus far he has been elusive.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Apr 2018 11:17:04
SA talks about being more free-flowing next season but hasn't done anything in his past career or this season to prove to me as a fan that he is capable of doing this. I simply think that this os the wrong type of job for him. To me it feels like he is saying what he thinks people want to hear. He hasn't done bad, he's done what was expected this season and now has hit the ceiling. If he gets another season I would be extremely worried about the decision makig abilities of the board. Extremely worried.

25 Apr 2018 14:08:56
He is what he is. We all knew before he came he would 100% put safe distance between us and the drop.
We mostly all knew that he would play negative football.

Most of us knew his transfer dealings were SUSPECT and he'd likely leave us with a infrastructure lacking in quality and togetherness.

Some of us knew that RK had a good chance to turn it around. Some of us knew it was a great opportunity to get rid of a man who wasn't singing the Everton song loud enough. (Biggest mistake we've made this season)

Now we start in the summer even further away from our goals. With time and money wasted and a style that isn't working. It's time for change. Not just a new boss but a blueprint of what we have to do and how we are going to do it. Then a new boss who is hired with the correct vision and skills to achieve all of that.

Yes I can see the irony of us lot ousting managers. Doesn't make us look like a very patient lot. However if the right boss took charge and had a wobbly few months, so long as the effort and direction and clear vision was there to see, then we must support. Let's be careful not to get a reputation.

It's been a waste of 12 months but I hope these disappointing times will un earth many valuable lessons for our future.

This is the crux of it for Allardyce. The underlying numbers during his time at Everton are not so encouraging. They offer plenty of evidence as to why belief in his methods continues to elude him despite winning the majority of his matches at Goodison Park.

While Everton dominated the ball during the first half against Newcastle, Theo Walcott's winning goal shortly after the interval was their only shot on target during the match, and it was the team's second-half retreat that was more typical of Allardyce's time in charge.
Everton are a bottom-half team in terms of passes and possession since his appointment. Only Swansea have attempted fewer shots. Only Swansea have had fewer shots on target. Everton are also in the bottom two for chances created and dribbles attempted under Allardyce.
That is fact, not make believe which is were SA lives.
Stats don't lie, another season with him at the helm and his so called savior reputation goes out the window as we are not an attractive proposition for attack minded players which is what we need to win games and compete.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 18:35:29
I have seen everyone of these players play great attacking football over the past few years. I haven't seen any of Sam's teams play great attacking football for over 12 years.
That in itself paints a picture.

so this is for the remaining Sam defenders here are some damming facts
since Sam came in

shots on target 61. 19
chances created 129. 19
dribbles 299 19
passes 7910. 12
possession. 43.7% 13

now I would like anybody to still try and defend that gravy guzzler we have in charge those stats are damming.

Says it all Bluey
Add that to the fact that our player of the season is our goalkeeper with the post being runner up.
Show me a top 6 side anywhere in Europe that doesn't play attractive football. It's total bull poop to think we can get there with Big Sam and his brand of negativity and total lack of focus on anything else but himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Atletico Madrid? Are they that attractive or positive?}

25 Apr 2018 06:23:20
but ED01 at the minute we have some aspects of the media saying we should be happy with Sam as he saved us and 7-8th is the best we can ever hope for they seem to believe that Sam is doing a great job when in reality he isn't I pay a lot of money for my season ticket and I'm hoping to add my 8 year old daughter on this year but the problem how can I make her sit through match after match of the dross we are being served up.
The attacking side of play I understand we are not city or your lot but we have been outplayed by every team we have faced except Newcastle who for some reason tried to use our own tactics against us and boy that was painfull to watch those stats show just how bad we are as an attacking in it under Sam and as he loves his stats I would love a journo to bring them up at a press conference but it seems they are either too scared to ask the tough questions or are warned before hand.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - oh don't worry I think Sam is completely wrong for you. It is not about having the best manager available, it is about having the best manager to fit your club. That is why some managers succeed brilliantly at one club then fail miserably in their next job. Allardyce needs a little club who are just happy to avoid relegation, so he can be a saviour and satisfy his overweening arrogance. Everton are too big for him, a bit like Roy Hodgson at Liverpool. Nothing wrong with them as managers in the right place, but they don't fit our teams.}

25 Apr 2018 06:52:04
Hi Ed
Not watched a lot of Atletico this year but any squad with Griezmann, Costa and Gameiro etc in must have some attacking intentions. They do have a reputation, whether that is current or not, of being defensive when playing the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid but that is backed up by workrate and commitment throughout the team. Mourhino has had the same criticism against some of the top sides this year but both of them have great attacks when they need them.
Us, we park the bus not only against the top sides home and away but against West Brom, Swansea, anybody really away from home and if we get one shot on target god help the person who misses it because they've changed the outcome of the whole game in Sam's eyes.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 07:15:03
I know ED01 the problem is it's not just about his tactics it's the whole if we win it's down to him and down to the players if we lose he was can't help but have sly digs over the criticism he is receiving by saying things after the Newcastle game like so what was wrong with that Jesus he must watch different games to everyone else.
I would love to know what's going on at boardroom level as I'm sure they must be unhappy as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he actually called it excellent! I was so bored I forgot it was on and just sat editing without looking at the football. I normally ignore the editing during matches and just edit at half time and after the game. I swear he is being deliberately obtuse now. It is like he gets some kind of perverse satisfaction out of deliberately winding up fans. He did it at West Ham. Then he comes out with nonsense about his time at Bolton and his bum chums in the media back him up and talk nonsense about how exciting the team was to watch. Utter lies, they were dire but Jay-Jay Okocha would do the odd thing to liven up the game. That was it. It was not entertaining, it was waiting for Okocha to do something to provide a nugget of entertainment. The sooner the dinosaurs like him and Pulis are out of football for good the better the sport will be.}

25 Apr 2018 07:46:00
I couldn't agree more ED01 jim white Thierry Henry Chris Sutton ECT ECT all believe that he is a great manager thankfully only 1 more game to go and I'm taking my little girl because she been very naughty and surely watching us for 90 mins is worse than grounding her until she is 35 ha ha it's a massive summer at goodison prob the biggest we have ever had it will show if as a club we are capable of trying to catch the top 6 and it starts with getting the management position filled correctly and after the last two appointments Moshiri might need outside help to make the correct call.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that's harsh! You will scar her for life. That is worse than any of the beltings I got as a kid. Just be careful you don't put her off football for life watching that. Though if you are having difficulties getting her to sleep, at least it could cure that issue...}

25 Apr 2018 08:22:02
ha ha shes already scared from the minute she was conceived I had Everton songs playing to her while in her mother's belly and it's got worse from the day she was born in forever taking her past goodison and playing Everton songs at her ha ha plus I'm very lucky that I have a very good friend who is a groundsman so at any opportunity I take her down to see him and she runs amok around the pitch and in the dressing room poor kid had no chance I have already booked her into seeing a shrink ha ha.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you probably shouldn't be saying this publicly, someone will already be on the phone to social services to report you for child cruelty!}

I hope this can't be true and it's just purely coincidental.

Watching Liverpool tonight and admittedly they were excellent (again) .

Watching them at the moment makes it even harder to watch Allardyce in the dugout for us.

From afar it doesn't look like klopp has done a huge amount for Liverpool tactically, especially if you compare it to the Rodgers season. What he has done incredibly well though is show the power of what can happen when your manager undrrstands the club and the fans.

Klopp understands Liverpool and gets that extra 10% out of the team because of it. Fergie understood utd, Mourinho got Chelsea (1st time around) and arguably inter as well, Guardiola undrrstands completely modern day city and where they're trying to go. And all of these examples loved their club.

And this is why I will never be happy with Allardyce. He doesn't understand Everton - the history, the fans, the area, the style - nothing. And he doesn't care either. I get the impression that he has no feelings for Everton whatsoever. I could also say the same about most of the job for hire managers (pardew, Hughes etc)

We need a manager who understands what Everton football club is about and only then will we be able to properly consider a sustained challenge on the top 6.

That's why ED025 put in a shout for Dyke and you can see where you both are coming from.
Whoever it is they need to embrace Everton and become part of the family.
Whoever it is, it is not Big Sam.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 10:36:08
If you want a manager that really understands Everton as a club then you're really looking for a manager with a lot PL experience or an ex player. Dyke would be a good shout if that was your criteria for getting the job. Although I am not sure how his style of pay would be received by some of our fans. As its not dissimilar to how we are set up at the moment. I hate to say it but Benitez would be another option which I would not like one bit but if he won or drew and didn't loose I would take that.

Agree0 Disagree4

25 Apr 2018 12:21:47
I think that's a bit simplistic SA90.
Moyes understood Everton. Martinez, for all his other faults understood Everton. Dan Weis, an American, understands Everton. Ferguson got Man Utd, Shankly understood Liverpool. Klopp, a German, understands what fans of Liverpool want,
Koeman, Allardyce think only of themselves
I don't think it comes down to PL experience or being an ex player of the club. It's getting involved and engrossed in the club and its history rather than worrying about your own ego or being arrogant to the fans.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 15:04:31

Seeing a lot of comments about how people would rather see a boring one nil win than an attacking one nil loss.
I really don't get this, have Man C not just shown us all that you can play attacking exciting football and still win games.
This after all is supposed to be an entertainment buisness.
SA had the perfect opportunity last night to play an attacking formation, and dump the two holding players. However he stuck to what he knows, and would probably have been happy with a draw.
If he is here next season then expect more of the same, because he won't change.

I said on Twitter last night Newcastle fans were the best I have seen at goodison this season but their team was the worst I have seen it was like watching us 10 men behind the ball hoping a long punt or a set piece comes off and that's why we beat them Sam plays the same team as he always does and again 36500 homes fans were bored stiff.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 19:24:36
The problem with playing defensively for the majority of the match, a bit like Burnley. It is a very small margin between winning, drawing and losing a game. Burnley have shown that when things are going your way they accumulate points but they are also prone to prolonged bad spells when things aren't.
We were similar under moyes where we drew far too many games. If you have a go you're much more likely to go on a good winning run home and away. Something I can't remember us doing for many a year.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 21:01:47
I have no idea where this thought that you can only win if you play defensively. To think this you must be an absolute idiot!

Take a look at the top 6 or 7 teams in every league in the world and 99% will be teams that go out to play football and score goals. Take a look at the bottom and a massive majority will be your Stokes, WBA and the like.

With Sam's style of play we will always be below the top six but with a manager looking to play football and go for the win we may just challenge the top six.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 21:28:17
BJU you have not grasped the thread of the posts we are not saying you can only win if you play defensively but we would rather win than loose. If you ask any of us if we can win playing great football we would take that over boring football any day of the week we just want to see a winning team.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Apr 2018 06:08:34
SA90 I think it is you that is misunderstanding if you think for one minute we will be a top 6 club the way Big Sam plays.
We will be at best mid table until all our best players have left or retired and then we will become another Sunderland as we will not be able to attract good replacements, even with Moshiri's millions as who, apart from mercenaries, will want to be associated with playing like we have
Big Sam has squeezed the enthusiasm/ life out of the majority of the fans and the team/ club will soon follow.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 10:28:00
bw2412 still not grasped the point. I have never stated we would be a top 6 side the way SA plays. I am not defending SA in any shape or form what I am saying is for me results are more important than the style of play his methods have bought reasonable results and that's more important than defensive tactics crap media statements and belligerent attitude towards any criticism. If you are still unsure I don't particularly like SA being our manager I don't really like the way we are playing football under his stewards ship I am not a great fan to say the least of his interactions with the media. However, if he continues to win or draw and not loose fixtures, which meant we won trophies achieved a CL place I would be okay to have him in charge.

Agree0 Disagree0

SA90
you had me until your last sentence 'which meant we won trophies achieved a CL place.
Even you in the start of your post said 'I never said we would be a top 6 side the way he plays'
As a club we are at a crossroads. Sam is going to go into a meeting with Farhad and say one year contract not enough and I need an extension to give clarity to everyone. If we give him what he wants we are resigned to mid table, dire football, be on the decline for a couple of more years.
If we let him see out his current contract what guarantee do we have that any players he buys are players any new manager will want, any players we sell are players a new manager would want to lose.
Sam, to my mind has shown no inclination to develop the club, motivate the players or do anything other than stroke his ego and elevate his own opinion of himself.
I am convinced he doesn't want to stay, he wants his payoff and will then go on holiday until the next club panics and requires his services.
Keeping him on would be one of the biggest mistakes we could make.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 16:31:43
Just been listening to talk sport, one of the presenters said he knows Sam very well, and if anyone thinks sam gives a toss about what the fans think of him, to think again, he's never met a man with thicker skin, so no matter what we say, or the press say, to Sam it's water off a ducks back. so all this it's a disgrace for the survey, he won't care, he's doing what he was paid to do, now if that be so, why are the board going to change it, look at WBA and Southampton.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Apr 2018 17:29:19
The guy who you are on about is also a West Ham fan so he knows whatdross this man serves up, and how he was towards the WH fans.
On the breakfast show we had another ex red in Saunders spouting about how badly SA is being treated. Said he thinks SA should resign. What he doesn’t understand is SA is a money grabbing mother, so there is no way he would leave under his own steam.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 19:28:48
Moshiri should honour his agreement and if he wants rid of Sam, pay him and shake his hand, then watch him ride off into retirement.
We have done many things wrong as a club this season, let's not add to that. Let's go into pre season with our heads held high and a spring in our step.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 22:09:43
I listened to what they had to say and I have to agree, Southampton and WBA didn't like the boring football that they were being served up, so got rid of there managers, now look at them, I'm not saying we would be stupid enough to want Hughes or pardew but nothing is guaranteed, if we do want rid of Sam, we have to make sure the man we want is available and wants to come to us, not sack someone then think who should we hire, and then panic and grab who ever is available. sam might be boring, but he has a method that gets results and we would be safe, that maybe another year of boring football, but in that year he may stabilise the team, for another manager to then tweak to make us into a good team, I just think as a team we still are very fragile.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Apr 2018 14:56:58
Now this is going to be a unpopular post!

If we look at the premier league since SA took over, points wise, we would be 6th in the league!

I am not his biggest fan but stats don't lie. Football is rubbish but if you look at the stats, its working.

So here is the big questions: do the facts matter or do we just want pretty football?

That by the way is not me being arsey just didn't know a better way to put the question.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

24 Apr 2018 15:18:23
6th so can I ask do the teams around us play terrible football the answer is no you can make any stat look good as we are near the bottom for chances created goals scored possession ECT we deserve a manager who understands the club and the history when that manager comes in I'm hoping he will be given the time to get us challenging the top 6.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 15:21:24
Good point. Remember the chant '1 nil to the Arsenal'. Remember our team of the 80's hard working, sometimes doubling up in the tackle. Successful sides the two of them, yet many games ended 1-0, we didn't hear much criticism then. Sam has done the job asked of him, his selfrighteous attitude is galling and his claiming of the West Ham win for his own is deplorable. The main question is however, does Mr Moshri believe that Sam is the man to take us forward and having sent the survey out, what was the point if he ignores the results.

Just think where we would have been if someone had turned up who got us creating chances.
both Chelsea and Arsenal would have been catchable this season had we
attacked some of the teams we just sat back against.

If you want to go with stats, one shot on goal last night, if anyone is a dab hand at stats, I would love someone to put up stats of shots on goal since Sam took over, possession and compare it to any single club in the premiership, my guessing is, we would be in the bottom three, possession wise against our neighbours in the Anfield Derby and City at Goodison are disgusting, 1 all against Swansea and holding out for a draw putting a defender on than go for it.

Not the manager I want to see in charge next season, if he was happy with our style of play last night.

Football has changed since then ducksflysouth. The type of football Allardyce is offering up doesn't warrant a place in the 21st century. It's not sustainable and is quite possibly the easiest brand of football for an opposing team to play against. Without being condescending, I often think to myself whether the people contempt with Allardyce's 'football' have ever even kicked a ball in their life.

We've beaten the teams that, realistically and no disrespect to them, we are expected to beat. For some, that might be fine, but to show any ambition as a club, it isn't what we need right now. We need to push on further, think it's clear that isn't with Allardyce at the helm.

Accompanying the fact that form wise we would be 6th since he took over (just about as we've played more than the other teams) was the fact that over the same period, we were 19th in total shots, shots on target and chances created.

I have hit on this before, if Sam can rub fans up the wrong way, play football that is dire, but at the same time, get a win here or there, he has done enough to warrant not being sacked without a payoff.

If Sam played various players and we dominated and ran out 2 nil winners, that would make a stronger case to keep him next season.

So again we know Sam is money motivated, my honest opinion is he is deliberately not going all guns blazing, in order to get the golden handshake when the season is over, and still get the same amount if he was stood on the touch line, what he can then do is sit back, wait for a struggling team next season, and get another bumper contract with them, on top of the pay off from Everton.

I really don't think people on here can see the state the team was in when Sam came in, we were in free fall, we didn't have a team of brilliance, it's not a matter of saying right boys let's start passing the ball around because we are good at that, leave your selves wide open for the counter attack because are defensive record is fantastic, ever part of our team when Sam came in was as poor as it ever has been, what can't people see that, keoman tried playing football, how many goals did we concede, unsy tried and how many goals did he conceded, so Sam come in tries to play pretty football and what do you think was going to happen, he has looked at the weaknesses, and tried to plug the holes be more compact, yes it's crap football, yes I don't want us to play like that, but we are now safe up to 8th, stop wineing about how he done, be greatfull he has, do you think WBA and Southampton would swap there style for premiership safety, yes the bloody would,

Going to go on a little rant here so bear with me ;) . The formation that we play absolutely stinks. Last night we played a 4-3-3 formation with the midfield seemingly being a flat 3 consisting of 2 defensive midfielders, Gana and Schneiderlin, and an ever waning (pun) Rooney who can't even run to the shop anymore.

With Gana and Scneiderlin both being defensive, this already sets us off on the back foot. Neither have an ounce of creativity about them and are both decent tacklers so we're pretty much playing 2 of the same player. Because they like to sit back and shirk responsibility it's giving the other team the freedom to press forward without fear of being hounded. Couple this with a lathargic Rooney who can no longer track back and is agonisly slow on the break it is clear to see why we lose almost every game in midfield. Now because of this situation when we get the ball in our half the other team finds it very easy to prevent us from playing our way out of danger because they have squeezed the gaps down between defence and midfield, they know we don't possess the quality to engineer a move out so we divert to long ball tactics either to Tosun or the wings which very rarely pay off because the midfield has been cut off and there is noone there to win second balls.

Playing a midfield 3 with 2 defensive midfielders has never worked and never will work. Is it so difficult to see that playing one defensive midfielder is sufficient? By playing the way we do we are allowing the oponent to force our hand instead of giving them something to think about. Is Allardyce's skull that thick that it's impossible for him to even think that just one, maybe 2 attacking midfielders will push the oponent further up the pitch leaving more space in the midfield to create chances for our forward line?

Some may say that we don't have the players to play an attacking system but that's utter b*llocks. The fact is, we don't have the players to play the system we're using now! With the players we have available now I'd love to see a 4-1-4-1 formation for the remaining games. Same backline as usual. Gana at defensive mid, Davies at CM with instructions to track back to provide extra cover when needs be. Rooney also at CM, personally with a fully fit squad I wouldn't pick him but it's all we have at the moment. Give him the instructions to drift between their midfield and defensive line where he'd be availble to pick up balls in space and influence the game further up the pitch with his passing ability. I'm unsure whether it'd be best to play 2 wide attacking midfielders or wingers. Both could be tried out… Nevertheless i'd play Walcott on the right hand side and Vlasic on the left, both with instructions to have the freedom to roam inside in order to provide closer support for Tosun up front.

Well that's my 2 pennies worth anyway.

I agree that we are losing mid field battles by picking 2 CDMs. But the notion of there not being the quality to have a more attack minded midfield isn’t b*llocks at all. It’s reality. Which is why I don’t fancy your attacking midfield solution because your using Rooney in a role that requires legs which we both agree he’s not got. Personally I’d never start him. Vlasic hasn’t shown he’s good enough yet. Walcott has been inconsistent so far (might be down to SA tactics tbf) . So I get that his midfield is more damage limitation than anything I’d like to see. I’m afraid it’s true that there isn’t anything good enough in the squad and this desperately needs fixing in the summer.

I don’t like it. I’d prefer to attack. But in the absence of quality I’m apathetic to the current set up sadly.

The game I watched 'Gladwys' saw a No 17 cover just about every blade of grass with our No 2 in the holding DM role. In fact Gana was even to be seen up with the attack further forward than Rooney. I too would like to see us play Klaasen etc now that we are safe but marry that against prize money for finishing as high as possible and I am afraid Football is a business. I do not believe that Sam can take us forward on the one hand but on the other I am old School and would take a 1-0 win playing boring football rather than losing 1-0 playing attacking pretty pretty football.

I agree Ace, which is why I said Rooney wouldn't get into the team if we had a fully fit squad… If Sigurdsson and McCarthy were fit I'd have them in the team over Vlasic and Rooney but as I mentioned, I was working with what we have available. If you don't instil the confidence into the players that they can attack and create chances instead of saying they're not good enough to play that type of football then what's the point of even playing?

will the next manager do any better?
moyes had time to build a good solid team
new manager don't get the time to do this, we want success right away.
i know let's buy loads of players in one season, just to feel the space of the players that are not performing or in the new managers plans, that's another 1-2 seasons behind.
everton not be a top 6 side until they give a manager at least 3-4 seasons to build a good solid side, recruiting 2or3 players each transfer windows and giving those players game time to fit in.

After watching last night's game I do feel sorry for the fans that pay money to go and watch that type of football week in and week out due to work I can't get to many games but last night proved again that we can't go on the way we are. Sam as always took the praise for the win but criticized the players for the sloppy passes. I think like most fans I would have liked to see a change in the squad there's no creativity on the bench, Tom came on and lost the ball every time he touched it and DCL didn't get on the ball much. Bolasie for me worse player on the pitch just don't know what he gives us.
Moving forward we will have to wait till the end of the season and just hope that the powers that be make the right decisions, again we are not not going to please all our supporters ( unless Sam goes ) , fingers crossed they saw enough of last night to know we need changes as for the fans I don't think I've seen Goodison so quiet which I think tells a bigger story than if we are hostile onwards and upwards blues roll on next season.

To be fair (expanding on a comment I made earlier) when Bolasie switched to the right and Walcott to the left the attack threat improved and Bolasie improved. Walcotts roaming role is to be welcomed. I don't hold with those saying Rooney did nothing either, he sat deeper in the 10 role, made some good passes and put his foot in. Schneiderlin to is a totally different player than 4 games ago, it pains me to say it but Allardyce is right he is improving game by game, a little late some would say and they are right but credit to the bloke, to take all that flak from his own supporters and still come back shows his strong character. I am one of those that does now say, let Sam go but at the back of my mind he may just turn a few fans round.

like him or loathe him Big Sam has done the job which was required off him - keep us afloat in the premier league. I would be prepared to let him see out his contract and see exactly what he does in preseason - then if things go pear shape at the start of next season then get rid,

Over the years he has bought some great players ( and some donkeys ) as all managers do but at least give the man a chance - since he has taken over we are have taken 30 points - more than Arsenal and 4 behind Chelsea - not bad considering the football we have played.

I will be in the minority on this suggestion but hey this is what football forums are about - opinions.

I think the problem is if he buys and sells players and as you say it goes pear shaped who do you get to replace him as its his team, it's a catch 22 isn't it Sam could stay and lose the first 5 games and we will be baying for blood he could win the first 5 games and be a hero ish.
But we could get a new manager and the same could happen atm I think it's the sort of football we are playing that's getting fans down yes he has more points since he took over than Wenger and 4 behind Conte but look at the other stats we are pretty much bottom of the list for passing, shots, possession etc we need to find our identity again we need to draw a line under this season and see where we go from here.

Joking aren't ya. If he stays then I'd expect a few of our most promising players wanting to leave. Klaassen will be gone without any hope of been given a chance, Lookman will be gone and I'd expect Vlasic would be loaned out or sold. Even last night, Martina on bench ahead of Kenny. Only thing I can think of is Kenny is injured to be left out ahead of Martina. We are safe yet the football is atrocious to watch.

We as a club always seem to have promising players but what eventually happens to them - sold on / loaned out - we never seem to be able to keep a good youngster and develop them anyway.

yes the football is bad but not everyteam is going to be silky smooth like city or dare I say it the pool - points is what matters in this game and we may be bottom for shots, possesion, teacles etc but as long as the points are on the board that's what matters

we have had entertaining managers before ( martinez springs to mind ) - attractive attacking football - defence garbage - what happened to him, he was virtually hounded out of the club.

Martinez mad a very valid point about us as supporters we won't give any manager time to build anything unless we get silver ware. He has hit the nail on the head. Our last four managers, including Unsworth, highlight the fact that we like to see good football but it has to be winning. We loved both Martinez and Koeman while they were winning but when the results didn't go our way it was down to their tactics poor team selection style of play etc etc. With Unsworth he had not really had time to do anything but because he didn't have instant success he was to inexperienced not good enough tactics not right etc etc. SA the complete opposite he gets reasonable results but because his tactics are boring and the way we play is pretty dull he gets pilloried for it. I personally would be happy winning 1-0 every match with dire football than loose 3-4 and watch a fantastic game of loosing football. I am pretty sure though others would not be happy at all.

Observations last night. Tosun is a good player (Partner him with Rondon? ) but we need two Walcotts or two Colemans, to get behind defenders and deliver the ball, to many times last night the lad (Tosun) came looking for the Ball. I was a bit harsh on Schneiderlin, while not there yet, his form of first season was there at times. Bolasie, ridiculous, no pressure on him and he runs the ball out, or puts the ball to far ahead of him thus easily intercepted. The rest of the starting 11 did okay for me, this was a Newcastle side in excellent form and with some good players, we were never going to beat them 3 or 4 nil. Final comment, done his job now, but in order for Everton to progress Allardyce has to go, he just cannot be allowed to do a pre-season, we need someone in with true ability and progressive ideas. In short this Club needs now to show true ambition not just lip service.

Disgraceful last night in the park end, 2 Thai women on the row in front who were taking videos and photos of the match were told by stewards to put there phones away and told they're not allowed to record videos. Everyone around us gave the stewards an ear full naturally. The ladies apologised and said they were just so excited to be at their first Everton game.

This must be how he comes across in interviews and answers the question 'how the heck does he get jobs'. My question is, why the heck couldn't he have spoken like that at Everton and explained himself as coherently, maybe he would still be here if he had.
