If moyes as got money to spend, I think he will do it on the quite one incase we end up in a bidding war and we can't conpete so we should expect transfer deadline day for deals.but if he pull sumutt out of the bag b4 then well done moyesy.coyb raynfromleic

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I'm not expecting much from us this window to be honest...I'm thinking 1 or 2 loans (probably a creative CM) and maybe 1 permanent signing...I'm doubtful about the permanent one though. By the way, this isn't me being pessimistic, I'm just going by what has happened in previous windows.

I saw someone mention Vyrdra of Watford. Well he's on loan there from Udinese and a deal would be extremely difficult because the Pozzo family own both clubs and don't want to let him go but tv have reported that a club in the top six of the EPL want him along with a few other Premiership clubs. I doubt it would be City, United, Chelsea, Spurs or Arsenal so I reckon we could be in for him if not then I'm sure were in for a few strikers just to make sure we sign one which I'm sure we will as well as a midfielder before the window shuts although I can see it being on deadline day, thoughts Ed?
Joe EFC {Ed025's Note - I don't know much about him to be honest joe..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I haven't seen him enough to comment on his overall play. But every time I see highlights of Watford's matches I see him score - penalties, open play, free kicks, etc so he is more than a touch and score guy - or see his name mentioned often.

He's young too, 20, so he's time to adapt if needed (to the Prem that is).

I think he'd be worth a punt, so long as he doesn't cost a huge amount of our kitty - assuming we have dosh in there.

Keith EFC.

Moyes stated some weeks ago that we might be able to do someting in the way of a couple of loan deals during the present transfer window. Why do people insist on linking us with expensive buys, when it's just not ging to happen?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Guess you have never heard of holding cards close to chest? why let everyone know if we have money to spend so they up their prices?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if were bidding big money for a player then they will know we have money lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the recently published accounts back up the theory that we have no cash guys

Agree0 Disagree0

Recently published accounts make it look like we have no money. So clubs know not to take the Michael. Given accounts are always for the previous financial year, I think we do have some money.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

So some mug payed £9m for the guy? Big fee doesn't guarantee ability! Torres £50m...Carrol £30m...need I say more?

Sorry lads, I know we discuss this every year! If Chelsea win the League Cup and finish in a Champions League place, who gets the Europa League spot? the Runner Up in the LC or the next highest finisher in the Premier League?
Jon {Ed025's Note - im not sure jon...but i would think the winner of the league cup would get a europa spot mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

1st - 4th in the league = champions league

5th place in the league = europa league

Winner of league cup (or 6th place in the league if winner has already qualified for europe) = europa league

Winner of FA cup (or runner-up if winner has already qualified for europe or next league placing without a european spot if runner up has already qualified too) = europa league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Normal rules at the start of the season are. Top 3 qualify for Champions League. 4th place qualifies for the qualifying round of the Champions League. 5th place gets Europa League spot, 6th place goes into a qualifying round to qualify for the Europa League.

If any of the teams in the top 4 face each other in a domestic cup final (FA Cup or Capital One cup) a extra place becomes available (7th place in the league)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but IF Chelsea win league cup Ed and finish 3rd or 4th they'll get CL and won't need Europa. That will go to the next league position surely ?

Agree0 Disagree0

If a lower placed English team wins the CL, then 4th place won't get CL place, but a Europa place instead - like Chelsea did to Tottenham. Imagine if we finish fourth - behind Man Utd, Man City, Chesea, but above Arsenal, and Arsenal win the CL. Only 3rd or higher is sure of a CL place.

I think everton are in need of a tricky little player with pace to play alongside jelly/fellow just to mix up a bit. Give the CH something else to think about... don't know who that player is tho, imagine the team

Howard
Hobb/Coleman jags distan. Baines

Kev. Felli. Gibson. Peanut

????
Jellyman

My god that would be sexual:........

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Best Midfield we could put out. I jjust wish Moyes could see that.

All we we would need then is another super fit fast striker to run the channels, keep Jelevic in the Box and I think I would treat my Mrs to Sex After every game then

Agree0 Disagree0

Instead of looking elsewhere, how about..

Howard.

Hibbo. Jags. Distin. Baines.

Coleman. Felli. Ossie/Gibbo. Peanuts.

Super Kev. Jellyman.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Excellent team, easily achievable considering we already own all of these players. Mirallas to provide the service jelly has been so desperate for, with him doing all the running and hard work (child's play to him) which puts jelly in the only position he should ever be in (on top of the last man poaching to death). I know this team would have us sitting in that final champions league spot, the only problem is having the ability for them all to be fit at once. We really need hibbo and gibbo back I think it really will sort all our problems out.

R rite ed couple of things mate first am with you and most blues when it comes to Naismith but he ain't half trying my patients now like I hope he comes good and a think he will but I'm starting to think it won't be good enough BUT while he is a toffee I'll always get behind him. second point are free flowing attractive football has dipped a bit lately compared to the beginning of the season and for me the answer is obvious the distribution from are centre halfs has been poor to say the least. And until they improve we won't get that type of football back. But after 22/23 games in a wish a could say a couldn't be happier but we really could have a few more points in the bag by now. A hate having a moan I always try and stay positive but I had to just get that out. And am not to worried coz wel be sound...LIAM!!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

It's not the CHs fault - rather the midfielders who haven't got the confidence/ability/energy to make themselves available

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we all agree jelavic form lately has been 10/10 for effort and just needs a bit of luck to get him going again I think he didn't have a good game against the saints but he is only human and probably getting disheartened by lack of support from midfield but not to worry jela we will have mirrallas and Gibson back now and will be able to hold the ball more and have more possession getting the midfielders up closer to him and having more options. Who would think that tactics could be so complex but the difference being when the two play its more like a 433 when they not its like 4411 with us going more direct to fellaini which takes out jelavic when you think about it how many flick ons does fellaini make to jelavic he holds the ball up9/10 on his chest and brings the midfield into play if that's the case we should play either another target man ie velios or play another midfielder and have fellaini as the main striker.
Robbie

Agree0 Disagree0

Think ya need to look closer lad distan and jags both waste way to many balls osman and nuts both gave them a run to take the ball and it was literally just hoofed up the park aimlessly on about 10 occasions against southampton most even missed jelevic and felli was that the strikers fault was it aswell open ya eyes lad we all love the blues but if we want to mix it with the best we have to play like the best at times that will mean building from the back and we can't do that with the aimless balls one or to we can forget but the last few games there has been well to many. A do understand what ya saying mate a just don't agree. LIAM!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Early on in the season jags and distin where the same cb and we playing attractive football eiyther credit to Southampton for not giving us time on the ball and pressing us or as above we didn't have the players available to keep possession and play our football.

Jelavic runs around like an headless chicken, no support for him up front.mark my words if he leaves to a club who playes 2 up ffront he would get an hat full of Goals, no money no backing from the board.no finishing 4th.HE NEEDS SUPPORT UP FRONT.fellaini got no pace drop him back and play 4-4-2 ffs

Believable7 Unbelievable1

He does not run around like a headless chicken, he is being forced to go looking for the ball on the wings and then is out of position when a ball actually gets put into the box

Do not drop Jela. Let's not be fickle, we raved about him last year so we know he can do it. Won't find his shooting boots on the bench, play him at Bolton with someone right alongside him!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I agree, if a player lacks confidence why would you knock it more by dropping them to the bench?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would still drop him, show him that just because his confidence may be down it does not mean we need to wrap him in cotton wool. He is a professional footballer he will understand, and if not his weekly pay check will certainly help him understand. We know he is capable of great things but right now he needs a swift kick up the a*se and dropping him would be the perfect way to do that.. All footballers should have the desire to perform better if they are downgraded to the bench.

There's a lot of talk about our system being wrong and Moyes ruining CFs that we buy. Disagree completely. Each one of the CFs he buys is a good player but not great. Each in his own way plays in a predictable way that can be counteracted by good defenders. This is why they have a great first or even second season but do not sustain it.
The reality is we need to unearth an unpredictable young striker in the mood of Benteke who has the potential to become an AVP or dare I say it a Suarez
If we had found Benteke, forget fourth we would be pushing man united and man see for the title.

jelavic is not scoring because of fellaini imo, when cahill was playing behind him it was like cahill was a playmaker were as fellaini is a goalscoring attacking midfielder or centre forward and that is why jelly is struggling imo.

Phil, COYB!! {Ed025's Note -

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Cahill played almost as a second striker he distracted 1 CB which allowed jelavic time and space to get by the last defender! we need a CF and fast even Felli said he likes to play deeper

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2013 09:03:18
Sick of this one up front.teams know what you we hoof the ball up to fellaini who contols it wiv his chest to lay it off to jelly, time for a new change of tactics if we want CL of europa league.why don't moyes play 4-4-2, other teams around us let's no forget are going to push on strong.he we do qualify will get hammered playin long balls up.think time as come to change tactics but moyes won't!!!!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

When do you think kenwright last spoke 2 board members like earl about anythink Everton .do you think earl tells his secretary tell him I'm busy, it's a joke anyone can see now is the time to back moyes, moyes is sayin it by not signing contract, ex players are sayin it .borrow the money by personal loans they've got a few quid get back off next few years tv deal money .its plain and simple don't back him he's gone, followed by are best players, replaced by a sub standard manager and sub standard players .as a fan I don't get an as a business plan just dosent make sense not to back him now, he's proved what he can do

Agree0 Disagree0

I think they talk but there's just no funds I'm sure our wages to the current squad are good especially Felli Baines jags Johnny etc sky money will pay these keep the debt in check and find some new business in the summer, but it is limited they won't risk putting the club in a position like so many other clubs, I'd rather be the way we are than be like Portsmouth or Leeds !

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't agree mate. It's just abit of forward planning needed thers times when a business needs expansion ie are squad, it's not putting us in the Leeds or Portsmouth position, we hav never backed moyes in ten years .if we don't back him we lose him it's just abit of financial sense back him give us a real chance of champions league and bigger money income from that and bigger commercial and sponsor deals, if we don't sell Felliani .gt the money back or accept this is as good as it gets, Pompey and Leeds spent big over a two year period moyes is asking for nothing like wat they spent ., just abit of ambition I think he's earned that and we as fans deserve that

They should both start, and fellaini should be in midfield because without gibson we are to weak and slow, we improved the other night when fellaini dropped back because we had a midfielder with a bit of power to win the ball back, and then have the ability to keep it, I think neville has been brilliant for us, but if he's going to play it should only be at right back, if moyes has any money or can get a loan in I hope its a cm .

one bad game does not make a season but there was a big wake up call against the Saints. Outpaced on the flanks at times and overrun in midfield, you have to ask about selection. If we are serious about taking a shot at champions league football, the bullet has to be bitten. Put simply, Naismith after two cruciate ligament operations may not recover and is not a sufficiently good footballer to make it without speed which he lacks at present. Neville for all his laudable character traits is not a good enough player for the standards now required. Neither should have come out for the second half.

we have to be analytical and admit there are even on a thin bench better options available. Not the biggest fan of Vic but he was our best asset when he came on, but there is a crying need to get Gibson back or get someone cohesive in the centre of the park who can allow the other guys more freedom to play. But to leave both Neville and Naimsith back on the pitch beginning the second half just amazed me.
