A good point today and great defensive display.

However, with the ball and going forward this and the Liverpool game is the worst I've ever seen an Everton team perform in 43 years.

January can't come quick enough for the hope we can get some attacking threat. Although not likely.

We need a striker and width. Hopefully bolaise is close to getting on the pitch. Might even have made it today if Gana didn't get injured.

Playing like this means we will probably have a few more hidings in us but hopefully the fans will have a bit of understanding until reinforcements arrive.

Hurry up January!

We need a lukaku esq striker. DCL has done more than anyone could of hoped but his statue (at the moment) is to weak and first 3 yards is to slow.
Also, need a right winger asap. with a left back please santa.

We need a striker the ball will stick to.

Definitely not Lukakuesque

Well well, looked like half of the team had the flu bug
Great point and a lung busting defensive
performance to contain a brilliant Chelsea team, in a normal game of football with both teams trying to win then we would been truly well beaten out of sight.
I am sure Allardyce got the tactics spot on and another game for him to assess the ability of his squad. It was plain to see that some of our players can't cope with the ball when they come under pressure from top quality teams but this the benchmark and I am sure that we all agree that we are along way off at this moment in time.
10 out 10 for effort 10 out of 10 for tactical set up and 10 out 10 for the result, however I am sure Big SAM will sort out the rest of the other issues over a period of time (12months)

Nothing to moan about mate, as we keep saying we have the right man now at the helm, and his name for all the doubters on here is BIG SAM, and long may it last.

Spot on GB mate, spot on.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Dec 2017 23:04:10
I don't mind but I'll save judgement on him over time. I'm not so easy to win over.

The results have improved but performances have not. Let's give him time to see what he can do and not be so eager to wipe his ass for him after a handful of games. Many made that mistake with Martinez and Koeman.

So far he's done what anyone would expect of a Sam team. Hard to beat and the long punt up top. He's now got to teach a team to play football.

Stay calm fellas.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Dec 2017 03:31:48
Surely the performances have improved if the results have improved? The performances of the defence and midfield must have improved, had no improvements in performance from anyone or the team been made there would in fact be no change in results.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Dec 2017 06:22:25
Depends on what you think a good performance is Swan. Personally not one shot on target is not a good performance. We had 25 shots against us which means the midfielder and defense were wasteful in possession. Defending is not just about blocking shots.

If the attacking part was better and we done the right things further forward the defense would not be the area we would be talking about every game.

He's got them defending properly but ball retention and our attacking play is going to be the real test of this management team.

SA has gone and done exactly what he was recruited for. He’s improved the area of greatest concern. Once he’s happy that this improvement is embedded in then no doubt he will move to make us more creative. If this needs time then I’m happy for him to take it.

After seeing what the special one is serving up at United I’m less inclined to complain about Allerdyce.

There’s no worse feeling that losing. He’s made it so I’ve not had to feel it recently.

{Ed025's Note - he certainly has ace..

24 Dec 2017 12:32:54
BJU nobody is saying we are playing in a way that is pleasing to the eye but the final scores are pleasing to the ear.

In a few years time when people look back all they will see is we are getting points playing these top sides, they won't be interested in how many shots we had on target. Ok we had no shots on target but try and look at things in a positive light, a dangerous team had 25 shots against us and did not manage to score. That in itself shouts volumes.

Yesterday and also the game against the RS big Sam set out for us not to concede goals, It is difficult for us to lose when we don't concede, for the rest of this season I hope he does the same when we meet the big teams again and we walk away with points.

24 Dec 2017 17:18:52
I think you guys are taking what I'm saying in the wrong way. I'm not being negative at all. I'm chuffed the defense is sorted out. However, unlike some on here I'm not satisfied with that. I want us to play football as well.

He's done exactly what we all expected. Now I want him to show he is more than what he's done with every other team and take us to the next level. Also, I'm not saying Sam can't do it. I'm just saying whoever it is managing us I want to see us improve in all areas not just in defense.

If you lot are happy with this and don't want to see improvement in our performances then what are doing supporting Everton? Palace, Bolton and Sunderland have plenty of seats available.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think we all want the same thing john, unfortunately rome was not built in a day and its not going to be an easy fix, stopping us losing was the first priority and up to now thats mission accomplished, now its onto phase 2 where our general play improves and then we can start to believe we can end up challenging the big boys, we all want to see dynamic football mate and hopefully that will come but we have to be patient..

24 Dec 2017 18:19:55
Fully agree Ed025 mate.

Apologies to you BJU I may have been shooting from the hip and took your post the wrong way.

Have a good Christmas mate and best wishes also to you and your families over the festive season Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - you too grumpy mate..

24 Dec 2017 22:02:06
Totally agree ED. Patience is so important but it's been in short supply with Evertonians in recent years.

Plus we have too many that one minute support the team and manager then in one loss jump on their back calling for players out and sackings. For me this has been the biggest problem at our club for the past three years.

Anyway onwards and upwards. Same to you Grumpy hope everyone has a great Christmas.

Ok yes it wasn't the best football to watch but a dogged performance.
We were resolute at the back and seem to be doing the basics right again. Reminiscent of the dogs of war era in some RESPECTS granted.
Credit where it's due though, Big Sam has transformed us in a matter of weeks. Still lots of potential points on offer and with the January transfer window imminent, I'd imagine we are going to bolster our attack and defence plus offload the players Sam deems surplus to requirements. Proud to be a toffee!

Nerve wracking stuff there, hard work sitting in the Park End for the last 20 mins. Great organised display though, brilliant defensively again, against one of the best teams in possession in the league. Shame Keane didn't put that header away though.

10 yards they said, from where I sat he looked a lot closer than that, still, really really chuffed. Not wishing to jump on a bandwagon but I reckon this January Window will see a Schneiderlin replacement come in. The lad probably means well but his form is awful.

So here we go again now its Conte saying the draw at Everton was an unfair result, when will these so called Big high flying managers and their Prima donna teams realize that Big Sam has found them out, we defended really well today with only the opposition scrambling or having half chance efforts on goal, (Dennis Wise on SSN saying that) , a couple of weeks ago it was Klopp griping and spitting his dummy out, well i say you had better start getting used to it as we have one hell of a manager in place now, as I said in a previous post a month or so ago and we would have been blown out the water this afternoon, WELL NOT ANY MORE, COYBS.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

23 Dec 2017 16:22:36
The big team managers expect to win regardless of how the game goes. As long as their stats are good they automatically expect to win and that is why liverpool, Chelsea and man u whine every time they Lose. They don't understand it is a tactical game and defending as well as attacking is a tactic.

Always said it about Alardyce, he is a good Manager, Coach and motivator. The man has presence, like Dyche at Burnley but with more experience and probably know how. Apart from the header we had one shot that missed by about 2 yards. I said Chelsea were class and they were. Not interested in dogs of war or any of that crap, I just want my Team to put in the effort for the hundreds of quid (my son paid/ pays LOL) for my season ticket and they sure did today. I said in an earlier post that 30 points were achievable over these 3 games, after Chelsea the lads will be knackered and we don't have the depth Sam would like so I will alter that prediction to 29 points. let's see what Sam can do with a war chest at his disposal and where we are at the end of January.

If you go away from home and have 25 shots and the home team doesn't have one on target I think you would all be saying the same thing as Conte. I know I'd be wondering why we didn't win.

As for finding them out they are third in the league and currently champions. I wish someone would find us out!

Wow Ed 025 what a game, defended really well today, and with a couple of additions in the window we will climb the table, on another note I was well chuffed to see Big Sam and Little Sam on the touchline being so vocal we havn, t seen that at Everton for years mate, even the doom merchants must be worried now.

Nail biting at times but a great point to be fair against a very good Chelski 👍 7 points from 9 in the last 3 games with a possible 6 more to come in the next 2 🙏 The weak areas are glaringly obvious but the lads we currently have are doing okay 👏👏 COYB 😀.

The disjointed, unbalanced team, players with little or no confidence, lack of ability all seem a thing of the past. What pleases me most, is the amount of youth in the team. If you remember past posts by me, I was scared **it about the ageing of our squad 2 or 3 years ago. We signed some good and some not so good 25ish year olds. but the spine of that team now holds a lot of youth. From the keeper, right back, one central defender (and Holgate didn't play today) , then the young Baningeme, Davies, Calvert-lewin, Ramirez and Lookman. that's 9 players all of very youthful age. Things are getting better.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Dec 2017 19:39:39
As to RB degsyp, I can see Alardyce keeping Kenny in the genuine RB position and putting Coleman the right of a 3 in front of the back 4. He wants to bring in a left sided defender, I would expand that to say a LWB or left sided with that ability. Rooney as most of us don't know anythings have said for ages, is now made for that central Midfield position. That leaves Siggy plus A. N. Other as holdup central striker. The lad Calvert has done wonders but he really needs a rest.

23 Dec 2017 13:53:08
Don't players get a flu shot? I know it does not guarantee that you will not get the flu but it should minimize the effect. Every year it seems that players are out with the flu.

I get a yearly flu jab at the doctors mate and it only protects against one particular type. There are so many different strains of flu it is hit and miss which ones to protect against as you can't protect against them all as they react. I do get your point though mate.
