I'm saying it again lol. Dembele from Celtic. I really think he's a punt worth risking. We wanted him last year but his agent recommended Celtic of the Prem. He can score goals yes it's the Scottish league but even if he has half the chances that's 16 goals. Adding to it though he did score a couple in the champions league so he can do it.

He did ok at Fulham.

Ed are we even remotely interested in Dembele. I mean have we enquired about him or has he just gone unnoticed. I hope not because I really think he would suit us down to ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we were very interested at one point mowfee, i dont know why he is off the list unless it was a lost cause mate..

23 Aug 2017 19:38:09
Well I heard Celtic were unwilling to sell because they wanted to qualify for champions league. Can only assume to give it their best with or without Dembele and pick up the huge pay packet for qualifying. Ed get your guys to speak to the powers above 😉.

{Ed025's Note - i will try mate..

The problem about getting a striker is that their are only a few who would improve the side. The clubs who these players play for are reluctant to sell unless a ridiculous offer is made and this becomes more of a problem the closer we get to the transfer deadline. In addition if one does become available there are other clubs who would jump at the possibility of signing them themselves. I just hope that Walsh has identified some player who is not on any other teams or the presses radar and we get a low cost gem.

I think Ed 002 said the player wasn’t interested in Everton. I could be mistaken.

Dembele is not the player for us. The Scottish Premiership is at best middle to lower Championship level and I am talking about the Scottish first two places here. Players go there for an easy ride and Managers either with no ambition or because they have failed elsewhere.

24 Aug 2017 10:08:30
I know he's young, BUT 17 goals in the Scottish league is not really prolific is it? over rated and extremely over priced £20mill max.

24 Aug 2017 10:09:24
Bill there are some excellent players in the premier league that came down from Celtic. It can be argued the Dembele may do just as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 12:42:22
Dembele is not the type of striker we should be looking for.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 16:29:10
He scored 32 didn't he in all competitions. Plus he has played in the champions league and scored. He's young still learning. Surely now is the time to buy being Everton have a new squad. So everyone is still learning. I wouldn't be too hasty on this guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:57:59
We don't need a young upcoming striker. We've got 2 already. We need a more experienced proven goalscorer. We're in Europe with a couple of chances of the CL and someone with the experience in this would be our biggest asset.

{Ed025's Note - im with you john..

What international career he has had.

23 Aug 2017 15:48:53
Regarding international retirement. I think he's looked at the pointless group games and thinks what has he to prove. Come on Malta really? I think he will come out of retirement for the championships and the press will be cheering his name this way he goes in without negativity. Just a thought don't hang me. He mentioned something on MNF regarding speaking to Gareth. I personally think he doesn't want the hassle of travel and just to maybe play 30 mins in qualifying. He will be back.

Not long now till the window shuts, all the gossip pages are just recycling old news, anyone got any clues on who we are interested in, ( striker and defender) if any. its been a fantastic window, but I'm like a kid, I just want more and more and more.

I couldn't be happier Wayne has left the England set up. It's below EPL standard and no longer worth bothering about.

I did not want him back. At all. However, I have one hand in the air and the other holding humble pie ready to be eaten.

I've loved it. Absolutely loved it. Seeing him on that pitch. His passion for the club and the team. It's inspired the fans. Inspired me. And it's inspiring those players around him.

I don't care who we buy but I have my views. I love being proved wrong because it means that player is doing a good job and I get to say sorry with my tail between my legs. NBTB has been his biggest supporter on here. How right he is being proved to be.

As for England well they've never appreciated him. That's probably his Scouse heritage that has cost him the love of the papers. It was the same for Gerrard.

I use to love England but it is no longer a team for the nation. But then it's not really a team.

For us blues it's the best possible news. Congratulations on a great England career as the best striker for England ever. Time for a couple more pages of history on your club career now.

Agree with you there BlueJohn, I didn't want him back and couldn't see how he would for in and improve us, how wrong was I. The retirement from pointless games now benefits us and also Wayne, he gets to spend time recuperating in between games during international breaks.

Good post BlueJohnUns. Your right, I probably was his biggest supporter on here and am delighted he is doing very well so far. Its only the beginning however so I don't think I'm right about it just yet. The retirement with England will no doubt help Rooney to continue his good performances.

His desire to play for Everton imho is a key factor to his good performances. He can't be criticised because he's proving his desire to play for Everton. Firstly taking a pay cut then retiring from England. I'm starting to think he actually did wear the Everton pyjamas every night.

Respect to Rooney for calling time on international career, i for one am sad as I never wanted him out of the england team, only regret not winning a tournament, but those who say he never performed at major tournaments, go back to 2004 he was well on the way to being the best player there and top goal scorer and I still think to this day if that injury did not happen we would of gone on to win it, he was on fire.
Thanks Wayne and still the best English player I have seen since Gazza
Your a legend, I remember watching him when he was 14 and thought wow and said to my red friend, this boy will break records, at time I did not look at long term bets but should of went with gut instinct as I should of been rich now.

How is Rooney getting on? I know it's early but he's scored a couple and I wondered how he was doing overall. I was one who was happy to see him go as I felt he had lost his mojo (as well as his touch) but he seems to be doing pretty well so far for you. Is this accurate or romantic press reporting?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Aug 2017 11:18:32
It's early to say. But if he had lost his mojo it looks like he found pretty sharpish. Regarding his touch, was that ever in question? I thought it was his age and whether he still has the legs that was the biggest concern, not his touch. You never lose what was never coached.

Anyway, so far he has looked very good for us. Yet it's early days.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Aug 2017 12:34:31
I would agree he certainly found his mojo quickly, just shows the difference in performance when you are somewhere you want to be, which is meant with no disrespect to United.
I do feel his match fitness and sharpness will also improve further over the upcoming games and also the team will gel further!

He can also focus more on Everton now he has no distraction from England duties.

Givern we do not have a bottomless pile of cash, would rather spend what we do have on gibson, rather than spend cash on a 3, 4 or 5 choice striker, get a target man on loan and look again in January.

23 Aug 2017 08:37:32
I have to disagree. Yes a CB would be great but so far this season our defence is doing well. A solid goalscorer is much higher priority!

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Aug 2017 13:00:03
Id go all out for dembele and gibson. Bit of a risk with dembele, however he has impressed me both at celtic and at fulham. He had some big teams after him but he choose celtic cause he didn't want to sit on the bench of a bigger club. And let's be honest he certainly knows where the back of the net is. Hard to believe he's still only 21.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2017 14:15:16
I don't think we will necessarily get a prolific forward. i think more likely is someone who can hold ball up to allow sigurtson, klasson, Rooney, Sandro, marallis to get the goals. So whoever we get should not be judged by his tally - rather Koeman judged by total number of goals by team.
Don't get me wrong - I'd love giroud. Jimenez is one goal in 4 games - so if he comes 10-15 goals probs all that can be expected.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2017 21:14:20
Jagielka, Holgate, Williams, Keane and Besic can all play CB if needed so that's 4 players for 2 or 3 positions depending on formation, add to that the defense has been solid I would say a forward is more a priority than a CB.
