My dads mate works behind the scenes at liverpool and has a couple mate over in goodison who seem quite certain donovan will return but just on a 3 month loan deal like last time, moyes will buy yes I said buy a striker, and also the link with parejo seems strong maybe moyes can do the same with him as he did with arteta. Parejo only signed for Valencia in June this year, so it's highly doubtful he would join in January. Would be an ideal addition to the squad though.

At this stage of the season last year we hadnt played, City and Chelsea and had dropped 10 points against Blackburn, Fulham Wolves and Villa in comparrison to the same fixtures this year. Bar the QPR result and the games agaisnt the top teams our form against the rest of the league results wise is very much improved. It will be interesting to see how it plays out - next 7 fixtures are crucial.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

We need to start winning our home games, matches against stoke, norwich and swansea should get us at least 7 points

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - i wold like to think so bez...but they are not going to be that easy! norwich and swansea play good football, and stoke never roll over..

If we are concentrating all our funds on a striker then we might have a reasonable chance of getting a decent striker. Not sure if we could get Rodallega for a decent fee (as he can leave Wigan for nothing in the Summer), but if Wigan want anymore than £5m or £6m I don't see that happening. That would leave us either getting an ageing player whose been there and done it, or an up and coming (maybe Championship player) young player for a few million. Don't have a clue who though! I also think we need a pacy wide player (Donovan type, but not necessarily him) and a utility defender (Onuoha?) as cover for centre half, or maybe even to go straight in as a right back. Obviously it depends whether the funds available will stretch that far. {Ed025's Note - we do need a striker, and also a creative midfielder....we need to replace arteta...we are missing him badly!..

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I have to partly disagree with you there Ed. I don't think we are missing Arteta, or at least. I don't think we have a player to read his through ball game, and so Arteta became a 'lateral-edge-of-the-box' Everton midfielder.

Our game is now centred around hanging around box until we can get a wide man o put a cross in. Invariably its not met, I can't understand why- if its from the right I can understand but baines can cross.

In summary we are becoming so difficult a team to anticipate. You just don't know if these crosses are gonna cause damage with Cahill, Rod, Apo and Fellaini flying through the air.

The best period as a Blue for me so far (and Im 23 - cant remember too well 1995) started with fellainis turn against Bellamy and ended soon after rodwells goal against united. Bliss

The rumour mill seems to have gone into overdrive about us signing Pavlyuchenko in January. I'd be interested to hear what other fans think about this. Personally, I can't get excited about this - every time I've watched him play he seems to be lazy & disinterested. That's the last thing we need now, we've only just got rid of Yak!
So maybe it's just that I've caught his poorer performances. Have any of you seen anything really good about him? I'd love to be proved wrong!

Sadly Pav is like that most of the time Tezza. It could be because he doesn't want to be there but his touch and finishing is poor these days. When he gets the ball it's usually followed by a groan from the crowd when he fluffs his lines.
I would much prefer Defoe. He's a touch out of form at the moment but in the ten minutes he gets at the end of a game, he usually shows glimpses of what he can do. Would do well for us and is just the kind of player we need up top.

You are welcome to Pav if you pay 10 million! All he does is hit and hope so it's either in the top corner or out of the ground. I'm sure you can guess where it usually ends up. Hands off Defoe though.

I'm with you on the Defoe point, Wiz. I reckon with the right supply he's a 20 odd goal a season player -something we've been lacking for a while!

Drenthe is dreadful
More Ego than talent
Will not pass the ball and ends up losing possession

Howard
Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
Neville
Osman Fellaini Rodwell
Cahill
Velios
What do you Think?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I agree on drenthe. you can tell he is from real and his lack of defencive skill takes so much out of baines going forward

Agree0 Disagree0

Drenthe is class however he should not be played wide on the left. He obviously knows where the goal is, he is selfish, and incredibly quick, why oh why dont we see if he can solve the issue of the missing goal scoring striker? I think he is a made prem striker personally from what i have seen

Agree2 Disagree0

I would definitely play Drenthe in the Cahill role behind the striker, he's quick, creative and knows where the goal is and he wouldn't need to defend.

first to start off i am new on this site alway reading it tho bk had two firm offers around jan this year but declined the offer because there was no place for him in the club under the potential owners this is not a rumour but a fact as for players coming in landon donavan is already agreed for loan but defently wont be coming permenant wont leave is native country and maynard is a major target for DM

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I've said this before myself, Maynard should definitely be regarded especially with the current financial crisis we find ourselves in. I'd rather chance somebody like him on loan because if he fails we've most likely wasted a small fortune tha

ToffeeBoyJack. {Ed025's Note - do you think he is good enough jack?. i have my doubts..

Agree0 Disagree0

To a certain extent yes, that's why I would suggest a loan move for the player. That way if things go t**ts up we haven't wasted a much needed sum of money on a permanent transfer.

On the contrary, if things pan out positively, well.

..I'll leave you to connect the dots Ed :)

ToffeeBoyJack. {Ed025's Note - i like a man who hedges his bets jack..
